We are tempted (and encouraged) to believe that the kingdom of God spreads throughout the earth by presenting the gospel, through some pat formula, to strangers. That doesn't happen very often. The gospel spread throughout the world of the first centuries by conversations between close friends and relatives, business associates and neighbors-people with whom the passionate Christians already had personal contact. So today the Church grows and expands, and people come to maturity in Christ nearly always through the influence of people they already know and trust, like you.

Even the most shy person among us talks to people every day. Most of that talk is idle chatter, not very useful for the advancement of God's kingdom. Every one of those less-than-redemptive conversations is a lost opportunity for extending the Lordship of Jesus. However, if we could learn to enhance the quality of our conversations, we could improve our ability to do what Jesus commanded-make disciples. We could turn that meaningless chatter into a means of God's grace, helping our friends become all God intends for them and enriching their lives (and our own) in the process. ~ D. Michael Henderson
Lost Opportunity quotes by D. Michael Henderson
Sitting on the sidelines, cribbing and moaning is a lost opportunity. I don't know how people who engage in that don't commit suicide. ~ Bertie Ahern
Lost Opportunity quotes by Bertie Ahern
Every day is a new opportunity to earn the lost values, but not for an apathetic. ~ M.F. Moonzajer
Lost Opportunity quotes by M.F. Moonzajer
Resisted temptations become lost opportunities ... ~ Margaret Ayer Barnes
Lost Opportunity quotes by Margaret Ayer Barnes
The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word crisis. One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger - but recognize the opportunity. ~ Richard M. Nixon
Lost Opportunity quotes by Richard M. Nixon
I'm convinced that people see the ghosts of themselves all the time, but most just chose to block them out. The words don't even make sense to me, and I know it's true. When I was seven years old I saw the ghost of myself at the age of eighteen. Ever since that day I've kicked myself for not asking questions. I've no idea what my eighteen-year-old self could have told me at that point - perhaps nothing at all. Still, I can't help but think of it as a lost opportunity. Somehow there was a slight fluctuation in the current, and two of me bled through the fabric at once.
Trying to figure out the meaning behind such events can drive you mad, because there is no answer. Perhaps it was some sort of hiccup. Then again, perhaps I was making some Herculean efforts to reach out to myself, and that was all I could manage. ~ Damien Echols
Lost Opportunity quotes by Damien Echols
While I am speaking the opportunity is lost. ~ Ovid
Lost Opportunity quotes by Ovid
Tears never yet saved a soul. Hell is full of weepers weeping over lost opportunities, perhaps over the rejection of an offered Saviour. Your Bible does not say " Weep, and be saved." It says, "Believe, and be saved." Faith is better than feeling. ~ Theodore L. Cuyler
Lost Opportunity quotes by Theodore L. Cuyler
Through indecision opportunity is often lost. ~ Publilius Syrus
Lost Opportunity quotes by Publilius Syrus
What she tells the Japanese is this lost opportunity which has made her what she is.
The story she tells of this lost opportunity literally transports her outside herself and carries her toward this new man.
To give oneself, body and soul, that's it. ~ Marguerite Duras
Lost Opportunity quotes by Marguerite Duras
I believe the sense of lost opportunity is rooted in a faulty understanding of God's grace. Likewise, when grace is grasped and embraced, the Land of Opportunity becomes yours again. ~ David Jeremiah
Lost Opportunity quotes by David Jeremiah
We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men does not remain at flood - it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is adamant to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words, "Too late." Martin Luther King, Jr. ~ Steven Pressfield
Lost Opportunity quotes by Steven Pressfield
Relinquish the notion of lost opportunity and try on a new reality:
"Where I am is where I'm supposed to be. ~ Gina Greenlee
Lost Opportunity quotes by Gina Greenlee
The delicate balance between these factors helps explain why, for instance, the typical prostitute earns more than the typical architect. It may not seem as though she should. The architect would appear to
be more skilled (as the word is usually defined) and better educated (again, as usually defined). But little girls don't grow up dreaming of becoming prostitutes, so the supply of potential prostitutes is relatively small. Their skills, while not necessarily "specialized," are practiced in a very specialized context. The job is unpleasant and forbidding in at least two significant ways: the likelihood of violence and the lost opportunity of having a stable family life. As for demand? Let's just say that an architect is more likely to hire a prostitute than vice versa. ~ Levitt/Dubner
Lost Opportunity quotes by Levitt/Dubner
I watched her sip at the drink some more. She was strong, healthy, but also petite enough that I was certain I could overpower her. I'd made the right decision not to tranquilize her, I thought. Slipping some powerful barbiturate into a mixed drink wasn't something I was above, but it always felt like such a lost opportunity. I liked the fight, the tightening and clenching of a woman's body as she writhed for freedom. I felt the slow swelling of arousal between my legs and made no effort to disguise it. ~ Alistair Cross
Lost Opportunity quotes by Alistair Cross
When the man is traveling with a man, he says, "Let's stay up late and work on this and get this to be better." When the man's traveling with the woman, for the sake of appearances he doesn't do the work with her. That's a lost opportunity for her to be a success. ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Lost Opportunity quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
Nothing is more expensive than a missed opportunity. ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Lost Opportunity quotes by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
It is hard to recover the lost opportunity. ~ Publilius Syrus
Lost Opportunity quotes by Publilius Syrus
Opportunities flit by while we sit regretting the chances we have lost, and the happiness that comes to us we heed not, because of the happiness that is gone. ~ Jerome K. Jerome
Lost Opportunity quotes by Jerome K. Jerome
I will paint you
With a subtle shade of sadness
Sitting on a blue chair
In a long forgotten room
Surrounded by four walls of regret
And one open door

I will paint you
With another lost opportunity
Disguising broad strokes of desperation
And muted tones of quiet fear
Just below the shallow surface
Of enduring regrets

I will paint you
With a broken piece of me
On an autumn day
Beneath a hundred trees
And except for the sorrowful cries
Of recalling long abandoned places
I will paint you
With no sound of waking life
Or what might have been

I will paint you
With just a single tear
Fallen from this broken heart
For all the things lost on earth ~ Alacazam
Lost Opportunity quotes by Alacazam
Beginning today, I will create a new future by creating a new me. No longer will I dwell in a pit of despair, moaning over squandered time and lost opportunity. I can do nothing about the past. My future is immediate. I will grasp it in both hands and carry it with running feet. When I am faced with the choice of doing nothing or doing something, I will always choose to act! I seize this moment. I choose now. ~ Andy Andrews
Lost Opportunity quotes by Andy Andrews
We should have won this one. I think it is a lost opportunity. ~ Jimmy Haynes
Lost Opportunity quotes by Jimmy Haynes
There are no lost opportunities in Divine Mind, as one door shuts another door is opened. ~ Florence Scovel Shinn
Lost Opportunity quotes by Florence Scovel Shinn
My greatest talent is calmness and being positive. I concentrate on what you can do even in the worst of times. You don't judge by last week's errors or lost opportunity. ~ Joe Torre
Lost Opportunity quotes by Joe Torre
There is never a lost opportunity in business; look sharp to turn another into the one you just lost. ~ Sanjeet Veen
Lost Opportunity quotes by Sanjeet Veen
I think that for humans, the most regrettable of omissions, along with unshed tears and unexamined lives, is untold stories, the things not shared, the lost opportunity to be honest about oneself and tender toward others. ~ Martha M. Moravec
Lost Opportunity quotes by Martha M. Moravec
You love it when I'm disgusting. In fact, the dirtier I talked, the more you screamed. The sooner you admit that, the easier it will be for both of us. I only ask for one day from you, AJ. One day for my lost opportunity. ~ Jaimie Roberts
Lost Opportunity quotes by Jaimie Roberts
Self-interest and mutual interest are inextricably linked. National interests can best be advanced through collective action, ... Calculate not just the human misery of the poor themselves. Calculate our loss: The aid, the lost opportunity to trade, the short-term consequences of the multiple conflicts; the long-term consequences on the attitude to the wealthy world of injustice and abject deprivation amongst the poor. ~ Tony Blair
Lost Opportunity quotes by Tony Blair
My mantra: Brainless exercise is a lost opportunity for improvement. ~ Michael Merzenich
Lost Opportunity quotes by Michael Merzenich
It's been said that happiness writes white. It doesn't show up on the page. When you're on holiday and writing a letter home to a friend, no one wants a letter that says the food is good and the weather is charming and the accommodations comfortable. You want to hear about lost passports and rat-filled shacks. ~ Martin Amis
Lost Opportunity quotes by Martin Amis
Throughout the course of US history, when Christians had the opportunity to decisively oppose the racism in their midst, all too often, they chose silence. They chose passivity. The refusal to act in the midst of injustice is itself an act of injustice. Indifference to oppression perpetuates oppression. ~ Jemar Tisby
Lost Opportunity quotes by Jemar Tisby
My maternal grandma was a tough, tough lady and a stern woman, who lost her husband young and raised six kids by herself. She lived in a mining community in Upstate New York and ran a boarding house for miners. She took care of an entire family and miners who lived in the house as well. ~ Steve Carell
Lost Opportunity quotes by Steve Carell
In the end, coming to faith remains for all a sense of homecoming, of picking up the threads of a lost life, of responding to a bell that had long been ringing, of taking a place at a table that had long been vacant. ~ Malcolm Muggeridge
Lost Opportunity quotes by Malcolm Muggeridge
Train your mind to see the opportunity in every adversity. ~ Debasish Mridha
Lost Opportunity quotes by Debasish Mridha
Socialism is an insurance policy bought by all the members of a national economy to shield them from risk. But the result is to shield them from knowledge of the real dangers and opportunities ... ~ George Gilder
Lost Opportunity quotes by George Gilder
I'm losing control."-Brittany
Mamacita, I've already lost it."-Alex ~ Simone Elkeles
Lost Opportunity quotes by Simone Elkeles
Is this the region, this the soil, the clime,
Said then the lost Archangel, this the seat
That we must change for heav'n, this mournful gloom
For that celestial light? Be it so since he
Who now is sovereign can dispose and bid
What shall be right. Farthest from him is best Whom reason hath equaled force hath made supreme
Above his equals. Farewell happy fields
Where joy forever dwells. Hail horrors Hail
Infernal world, and thou profoundest hell
Receive thy new possessor, one who brings
A mind not to be changed by place or time
The mind is its own place and in itself
Can make a heav'n of hell, a hell of heav'n.
What matter where if I be still the same
And what I should be--All but less than he
Whom thunder hath made greater. Here at least
We shall be free. Th' Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy will not drive us hence.
Here we may reign supreme, and in my choice
To reign is worth ambition, though in hell.
Better to reign in hell than serve in Heav'n.
But wherefore let we then our faithful friends,
Th'associates and co-partners of our loss
Lie thus astonished on th' oblivious pool.
And call them not to share with us their part
In this unhappy mansion? Or, once more,
With rallying arms, to try what may be yet
Regained in heav'n or what more lost in hell! ~ John Milton
Lost Opportunity quotes by John Milton
I've been given the opportunity to be alive in this day and age, and it's rare. ~ Adrian Grenier
Lost Opportunity quotes by Adrian Grenier
From my father I had learned, long after I had stopped following him along the paths, that in certain lives there are mountains to which we may never return. That in lives like his and mine, you cannot go back to the mountain that is in the center of all the rest, and at the beginning of your own story. And that wandering around the eight mountains is all that remains for those who, like us, on the first and highest, have lost a friend ~ Paolo Cognetti
Lost Opportunity quotes by Paolo Cognetti
Freedom" -- we repeated to ourselves, and yet we could not grasp it. We had said this word so often during all the years we dreamed about it, that it had lost its meaning. Its reality did not penetrate into our consciousness; we could not grasp the fact that freedom was ours. ~ Viktor E. Frankl
Lost Opportunity quotes by Viktor E. Frankl
GOOD-BYE IS JUST AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HELLO. ~ Kunal Nayyar
Lost Opportunity quotes by Kunal Nayyar
We didn't lose as many lives as had been predicted although we're still in the process of finding those we lost. ~ Kathleen Blanco
Lost Opportunity quotes by Kathleen Blanco
Currently, you are approaching each opportunity with a single possible outcome and when that doesn't happen you fool yourself that there was nothing more that you could have done. ~ Chris Murray
Lost Opportunity quotes by Chris Murray
On getting lost in a book.
Set adrift
A life unknown
Connections form
Love is sewn ~ Patty Wiseman
Lost Opportunity quotes by Patty Wiseman
After all, many cops subscribe to the notion that most homicide victims die by their environment, their lifestyles, and there's no question that prostitutes make themselves easy victims of opportunity. ~ Gary King
Lost Opportunity quotes by Gary King
The more you let yourself be distracted from where you are going, the more you are the person that you are. It's not so much like getting lost as it is like getting found. ~ William Stafford
Lost Opportunity quotes by William Stafford
Once you're lost, you panic. You're in total despair, not knowing what to do. I hate it when that happens. Sex can be a real pain that way, 'cause when you get in the mood all you can think about is what's right under your nose - that's sex, all right. ~ Haruki Murakami
Lost Opportunity quotes by Haruki Murakami
No person in the world ever lost anything by being nice to me. ~ Lillie Langtry
Lost Opportunity quotes by Lillie Langtry
Even I had no opportunity to conduct very many concerts after World War II. ~ Kurt Masur
Lost Opportunity quotes by Kurt Masur
When you get up into the crown of a redwood tree, you lose sight of the ground entirely. You also lose sight of the sky. And you're in a lost world. You're in an undiscovered, unexplored ecosystem, somewhere between Heaven and Earth, filled with forms of life, not all of which have been given names by scientists yet. ~ Richard Preston
Lost Opportunity quotes by Richard Preston
Yet, if you have a heart, lock it carefully away like a treasure; do not let any one suspect it, or you will be lost; you would cease to be the executioner, you would take the victim's place. ~ Honore De Balzac
Lost Opportunity quotes by Honore De Balzac
I have a love for astronomy; Aruna, my wife, and I love travelling, so whenever we get an opportunity, we set off to explore places that have tickled our interest. We are also wildlife enthusiasts. ~ Viswanathan Anand
Lost Opportunity quotes by Viswanathan Anand
Even when things are at their worst, I refuse to believe all is lost. I will never go down without a fight. ~ Jacquelyn Middleton
Lost Opportunity quotes by Jacquelyn Middleton
Vampires and five-year-olds played by the same rules, and both threw tantrums when they lost. ~ Kim Harrison
Lost Opportunity quotes by Kim Harrison
I expect more from my life than the opportunity to be useful to a man. ~ Kim Wright
Lost Opportunity quotes by Kim Wright
The root of impatience in discipline is really the same as that of overindulgence. In both instances, parents want to make up for lost time, to speed up a process that takes time. ~ Russell D. Moore
Lost Opportunity quotes by Russell D. Moore
You know, when you've loved deeply and lost deeply, it's okay to feel deeply. ~ Lindsay Harrel
Lost Opportunity quotes by Lindsay Harrel
Searching for a mind long lost I found it shaping colors and history near the cliffs of your heart. ~ Aberjhani
Lost Opportunity quotes by Aberjhani
What can I say to convince you
the Houses of Parliament dissolve
night after night to become
the fluid dream of the Thames?
I will not return to a universe
of objects that don't know each other,
as if islands were not the lost children
of one great continent. The world
is flux, and light becomes what it touches. ~ Lisel Mueller
Lost Opportunity quotes by Lisel Mueller
I am: yet what I am none cares or knows, My friends forsake me like a memory lost; I am the self-consumer of my woes, They rise and vanish in oblivious host, Like shades in love and death's oblivion lost; And yet I am, and live with shadows tost. ~ John Clare
Lost Opportunity quotes by John Clare
She now lost every expectation of pleasure. They were confined for the evening at different tables, and she had nothing to hope, but that his eyes were so often turned towards her side of the room, as to make him play as unsuccessfully as herself ~ Jane Austen
Lost Opportunity quotes by Jane Austen
I lied," I said ...
"I know it," he said.
"Then do something about it. Do anything, just so it's something."
"I cant," he said.
"There aint anything to do? Not anything?"
"I didn't say that," Grandfather said. "I said I couldn't. You can."
"What?" I said. "How can I forget it? Tell me how to."
"You cant," he said. "Nothing is ever forgotten. Nothing is ever lost. It's too valuable."
"Then what can I do?"
"Live with it," Grandfather said.
"Live with it? You mean, forever? For the rest of my life? Not ever to get rid of it? Never? I cant. Dont you see that I cant?"
"Yes you can," he said. "You will. A gentleman always does. A gentleman can live through anything. He faces anything. A gentleman accepts the responsibility of his actions and bears the burden of their consequences, even when he did not himself instigate them but only acquiesced to them, didn't say No though he knew he should. ~ William Faulkner
Lost Opportunity quotes by William Faulkner
The reality is that most of us sit at home and read about the Super Bowl and the 1,000 parties, and we won't have an opportunity to participate. When I look at a 400 ticket, I blanch. This allows everyday people to get involved. ~ Charlie Anderson
