The same God who loves us as we are also loves us to much to leave us as we are. Perhpas because we tend to hold to ideas about God that reflect our own suppositions and fears, more than God's self-revelation. We reduce God to our own dimensions, ascribing to him our own reactions and responses, especially our own petty and conditional kind of love, and so end up believing in a God cast in our own image and likeness.

But the true God, the living God, is entirely "other":. Precisely from this radical otherness derives the inscrutable and transcendent nature of divine love-- for which our limited human love is but a distant metaphor. God's love is much more than our human love simply multiplied and expanded. God's love for us will ever be mystery; unfathomable, awesome, entirely beyond human expectation.

Precisely because God's love is something "no eyes has seen, nor ear heard nor the heart of man conceived" (1 Cor 2:9), Mother Teresa meditated on it continuously, and encouraged us to do the same, to continue plumbing this mystery more deeply. To this end she invites us: "Try to deepen your understanding of these two words, 'Thirst of God.; ~ Joseph Langford
Living God quotes by Joseph Langford
A testimony is a most precious possession because it is not acquired by logic or reason alone, it cannot be purchased with earthly possessions, and it cannot be given as a present or inherited from our ancestors. We cannot depend on the testimonies of other people. We need to know for ourselves. President Gordon B. Hinckley said, 'Every Latter-day Saint has the responsibility to know for himself or herself with a certainty beyond doubt that Jesus is the resurrected, living Son of the living God. ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Living God quotes by Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Nets are generally defined as devices for capturing something. In a more narrow but more important sense, we might define a net as anything that entices or prevents us from following the call of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. ~ Joseph B. Wirthlin
Living God quotes by Joseph B. Wirthlin
Every time we say we believe in the Holy Spirit, we mean we believe that there is a living God able and willing to enter human personality and change it. ~ John Owen
Living God quotes by John Owen
So I devised a way for you to create anew, and Know, Who You Are in your experience. I did this by providing you with: 1. Relativity - a system wherein you could exist as a thing in relationship to something else. 2. Forgetfulness - a process by which you willingly submit to total amnesia, so that you can not know that relativity is merely a trick, and that you are All of It. 3. Consciousness - a state of Being in which you grow until you reach full awareness, then becoming a True and Living God, creating and experiencing your own reality, expanding and exploring that reality, changing and re-creating that reality as you stretch your consciousness to new limits - or shall we say, to no limit. ~ Neale Donald Walsch
Living God quotes by Neale Donald Walsch
So watch your step, friends. Make sure there's no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. ~ Eugene H. Peterson
Living God quotes by Eugene H. Peterson
A king is a mortal god on earth, unto whom the living God hath lent his own name as a great honour; but withal told him, he should die like a man, lest he should be proud, and flatter himself that God hath with his name imparted unto him his nature also. ~ John Locke
Living God quotes by John Locke
The Lord does not need your tithing, as far as He is concerned, but you need it for your growth, spiritually and temporally, that the windows of heaven may be opened and the Spirit of the living God given to you. ~ Heber J. Grant
Living God quotes by Heber J. Grant
If you would follow on to know the Lord, come at once to the open Bible expecting it to speak to you. Do not come with the notion that it is a thing which you may push around at your convenience. It is more than a thing, it is a voice, a word, the very Word of the living God. ~ A.W. Tozer
Living God quotes by A.W. Tozer
Prayer, in essence, is conversation with God. You can talk to Him about anything and everything - He loves to hear from His children. Praise Him for His incredible love, tell Him why you love your favorite song, ask Him for help with problems at home, work or school and thank Him for His responses. ~ Teresa Santoski
Living God quotes by Teresa Santoski
No demon can withstand the power of Christ, said my father, repeating the words he had used long ago, and what he meant was that no dissociated mind can withstand the integrating power of the Living God whose spark lies deep in the core of the unconscious mind and who can not only heal the shattered ego but unify the entire personality. ~ Susan Howatch
Living God quotes by Susan Howatch
Unbelief is actually perverted faith, for it puts its faith not in the living God, but in dying men. ~ A.W. Tozer
Living God quotes by A.W. Tozer
We should not content ourselves with a God of thoughts for, when the thoughts come to an end, so too shall God. Rather, we should have a living God who is beyond the thoughts of all people and all creatures. That kind of God will not leave us, unless we ourselves choose to turn away from him. ~ Meister Eckhart
Living God quotes by Meister Eckhart
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. ~ Joseph Smith Jr.
Living God quotes by Joseph Smith Jr.
My Christian brethren, if the crowd of difficulties which stand between your souls and God succeed in keeping you away, all is lost. Right into the Presence you must force your way, with no concealment, baring the soul with all its ailments before Him, asking, not the arrest of the consequences of sin, but the cleansing of the conscience " from dead works to serve the living God," so that if you must suffer, you will suffer as a forgiven man. ~ Frederick William Robertson
Living God quotes by Frederick William Robertson
The commandments of God were intended to make Israel a distinct, and holy nation of priests to the one, true, living God so that the world would know and see who is the Lord. ~ Frederick Osborn
Living God quotes by Frederick Osborn
Among the perfect attributes of our living God, one that is and will be a great blessing to us, is His generosity. Important though it is, this quality is one that tends to be less noted.God's generosity is associated with divine gladness, such as is evoked when His children keep His commandments. He is quick to bless and is delighted to honor the faithful. God's generosity is expressed also in His long suffering, His being always ready to respond when His children are inclined to feel after Him. ~ Neal A. Maxwell
Living God quotes by Neal A. Maxwell
Often, it'a not one great, dramatic thing that God asks us to do but hundreds of little everyday things. If we want to be used by Him, if we're ready to be used and aren't all tangled up with your own plans and projects, then He'll show us the work He has for us. ~ Lynn Austin
Living God quotes by Lynn Austin
Our aim in studying the Godhead must be to know God himself better. Our concern must be to enlarge our acquaintance, not simply with the doctrine of God's attributes, but with the living God whose attributes they are. ~ J.I. Packer
Living God quotes by J.I. Packer
View your body as something God has entrusted into your care. ~ Jim George
Living God quotes by Jim George
Stale godliness is ungodliness. Let our religion be as warm, and constant, and natural as the flow of the blood in our veins. A living God must be served in a living way. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Living God quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Most accounts of mystical experiences ... insist that the Other in the encounter appears to be "living" or alive, as in "living God." But is it alive in any biological sense? Does it eat and metabolize? Does it reproduce - an option that monotheism would seem to foreclose? ~ Barbara Ehrenreich
Living God quotes by Barbara Ehrenreich
The testimony of the Bible is clear. The God of Jesus, of Peter and of Paul, and of Abraham and Jacob is a living God. He calls himself "I AM," not "I WAS." Scripture isn't a brittle and crumbling letter from a God long silent. The Bible proclaims a God of visions, fresh words, and new revelations. To believe the Bible is to believe in such a God. ~ Philip Gulley
Living God quotes by Philip Gulley
We put our hope and trust in the living God. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Living God quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Our children were created with a deep hunger to encounter the supernatural living God. ~ Becky Fischer
Living God quotes by Becky Fischer
Because our Savior lives, we do not use the symbol of His death as the symbol of our faith. But what shall we use? No sign, no work of art, no representation of form is adequate to express the glory and the wonder of the Living Christ. He told us what that symbol should be when He said, 'If ye love me, keep my commandments' (John 14:15). As His followers, we cannot do a mean or shoddy or ungracious thing without tarnishing His image. Nor can we do a good and gracious and generous act without burnishing more brightly the symbol of Him whose name we have taken upon ourselves. And so our lives must become a meaningful expression, the symbol of our declaration of our testimony of the Living Christ, the Eternal Son of the Living God. ~ Gordon B. Hinckley
Living God quotes by Gordon B. Hinckley
Live in the Acts of the Apostles, and every day you will see some miracle worked by the power of the living God. ~ Smith Wigglesworth
Living God quotes by Smith Wigglesworth
We're helping people connect with the purpose for which they were created--to glorify the living God we're pointing their hearts toward the Sovereign One who is greater than their trials and kinder than they could ever imagine. We get to display the matchless Savior who died in our place, conquering sin, death, and hell in the process. ~ Bob Kauflin
Living God quotes by Bob Kauflin
The church is far greater than [a building or denomination]. It includes the whole family of God - that vast unseen fellowship of men and women throughout the ages who belong to Christ. Paul wrote of "God's household, which is the church of the living God" [1 Timothy 3:15 NIV). ~ Billy Graham
Living God quotes by Billy Graham
When people realize it is the living God you are presenting and not some idol that makes them feel good, they are going to turn on you, even people in your own family. There is a great irony here: proclaiming so much love, experiencing so much hate! But don't quit. ~ Eugene H. Peterson
Living God quotes by Eugene H. Peterson
The Almighty, if necessary, may have to shake the nations to humble them and cause them to listen to the servants of the living God. Whatever is needed will come to pass. ~ Gordon B. Hinckley
Living God quotes by Gordon B. Hinckley
The love of God is constantly active and present. His love didn't just happen once. It's forever moving in you and in your life. ~ Stormie O'martian
Living God quotes by Stormie O'martian
This is the church that Stanley High spoke of when he said: The church has failed to tell me that I am a sinner. The church has failed to deal with me as a lost individual. The church has failed to offer me salvation in Jesus Christ alone. The church has failed to tell me of the horrible consequences of sin, the certainty of hell, and the fact that Jesus Christ alone can save. We need more of the last judgment and less of the Golden Rule, more of the living God and the living devil as well, more of a heaven to gain and a hell to shun. The church must bring me not a message of cultivation but of rebirth. I might fail that kind of church, but that kind of church will not fail me. ~ J. Vernon McGee
Living God quotes by J. Vernon McGee
There is no one who takes care of us as lovingly as our mother does. She is our living God. ~ Mohtasham Usmani
Living God quotes by Mohtasham Usmani
I encourage people at this time, do not put your faith in any preacher, in any human system, but put your faith and trust in the Living God. ~ Myles Munroe
Living God quotes by Myles Munroe
We need to be impressed with these words in verse [2 Cor. 1:]9 - "we should not base our confidence on ourselves but on God." Through the redemption of Christ, the very God, who is in the heavens, has come into us, into our spirit (Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 4:22). Thank the Lord that He is now in our spirit, calling us to forget about the soulish things and turn to our spirit to meet Him. We should no longer trust in our self, in our soul, but in God who is in our spirit. ~ Witness Lee
Living God quotes by Witness Lee
During all these years I have been enabled to trust in the living God alone. In answer to prayer $7,500,000 have been sent to me. We have needed as much as $200,000 in one year, and it has all come when needed. No man can ever say I asked him for a penny. We have no committees, no collectors, no voting, and no endowment. All has come in answer to believing prayer. ~ Charles R. Parsons
Living God quotes by Charles R. Parsons
Pride is often used as a way to protect our hearts and to hide the truth. Pride causes us to shut down and build walls. ~ Heather Bixler
Living God quotes by Heather Bixler
A Christian is one who recognizes Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God, as God manifested in the flesh, loving us and dying for our redemption; and who is so affected by a sense of the love of this incarnate God as to be constrained to make the will of Christ the rule of his obedience, and the glory of Christ the great end for which He lives. ~ Charles Hodge
Living God quotes by Charles Hodge
In the Gospels, for instance, we sometimes find the kingdom of heaven illustrated by principles drawn from observation of this world rather than from an ideal conception of justice; ... They remind us that the God we are seeking is present and active, that he is the living God; they are doubtless necessary if we are to keep religion from passing into a mere idealism and God into the vanishing point of our thought and endeavour. ~ George Santayana
Living God quotes by George Santayana
It is no slight testimonial, both to the merit and worth of Christianity, that in all ages since its promulgation the great mass of those who have risen to eminence by their profound wisdom and integrity have recognized and reverenced Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of the living God. ~ John Quincy Adams
Living God quotes by John Quincy Adams
When you have closed the Bible, you have neither closed God's mind nor shut God's mouth. God continues to speak, live and exist. I think we should consult the living God for the living word for living people dealing with death, destruction and despair in the midst of our hurt humanity. I believe love will conquer all. ~ Michael Eric Dyson
Living God quotes by Michael Eric Dyson
Prayer releases your problems to God. ~ Jim George
Living God quotes by Jim George
It's so gratifying to see people face to face who get to meet the people who are giving them a fair price for their work. They can now provide medical support for their kids, give them better education and in general have a better standard of living. God knows they deserve it. ~ Nell Newman
Living God quotes by Nell Newman
He who never looks up to a living God, to a heavenly presence, loses the power of perceiving that presence, and the universe slowly turns into a dead machine, clashing and grinding on, without purpose or end. If the light within us be darkness, how great is that darkness! ~ James Freeman Clarke
Living God quotes by James Freeman Clarke
What we call doubt is often simply dullness of mind and spirit, not the absence of faith at all, but faith latent with the lives we are not quite living, God dormant in the world to which we are not quite giving our best selves. ~ Christian Wiman
Living God quotes by Christian Wiman
I'd rather be beautiful on thee inside where it is never seen by the world but always seen by the one true living God ~ Samone Sherrell
Living God quotes by Samone Sherrell
Your leading in the silence Living God of Love: Give me ears to hear your request beneath the demands of this moment. I wish to listen for your leading in the silence. Help me listen beyond the stories I spin about others and my own self. Your leading is clear in the silence: "Love one another because you are one in me." Amen. ~ Peter Traben Haas
Living God quotes by Peter Traben Haas
We must let go of any fantasy concerning the church as a stable, predictable, well-regulated organization. If the church is truly the place in the world where the existence of God is brought to the level of narrative discernment, the the church will always be disorderly.
…We must let go of the desire for theology to be a finished product of complete conceptual symmetry. If theology is in fact the attempt to understand living faith, then it must always be an unfinished process, for the data continues to come in, as the Living God persists in working through the lives of people and being revealed in their stories.
…We must let go of any pretense of closing the New Testament within some comprehensive, all-purpose, singular reading which reduces its complexity to simplicity. We must recognize our attempts to reduce multiplicity to unity. We must recognize our tendency to seek a stable package of meaning that we can then apply to other situations or fit within our systematic theological constructs, so that, ideally, we need never really read the texts again. ~ Luke Timothy Johnson
Living God quotes by Luke Timothy Johnson
By faith I accepted Him for what He claimed to be, the Son of the Living God. That simple decision changed my life - and I have seen it change the lives of countless others across the world. ~ Billy Graham
Living God quotes by Billy Graham
For the soul of a person to be inflamed with passion for the living God, that person's mind must first be informed about the character and will of God. There can be nothing in the heart that is not first in the mind. Though it is possible to have theology on the head without its piercing the soul, it cannot pierce the soul without first being grasped by the mind. ~ R.C. Sproul
Living God quotes by R.C. Sproul
There are persons who always believe in the imminent peril of the universe in general and of the Church of God in particular, and a sort of popularity is sure to be gained by always crying "Woe! Woe!" Prophets who will spiritually imitate Solomon Eagle, who went about the streets of London in the time of the plague, naked, with a pan of coals on his head, crying "Woe! Woe!" are thought to be faithful, though they are probably dyspeptic. We are not of that order: we dare not shut our eyes to the evils that surround us, but we are able to see the Divine power above us, and to feel it with us, working out its purposes of grace. We say to each of you what the Lord said to Joshua in the chapter we have just read, "Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Our trust is in the living God, who will bring ultimate victory to His own cause. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Living God quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Our God listens to us. Our God is a living God. He's not a block of wood you made up that's not going to answer you. My God listens to me. He answers me. ~ Francis Chan
Living God quotes by Francis Chan
The Bible is the inerrant ... word of the living God. It is absolutely infallible, without error in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as well as in areas such as geography, science, history, etc. ~ Jerry Falwell
Living God quotes by Jerry Falwell
The unconditional love that God gives us when we are in relationship with him frees us and sustains us; we no longer feel the need to prove ourselves according to worldly standards, we are fine just the way we are. ~ Tim Crawshaw
Living God quotes by Tim Crawshaw
If there is no scent of Christ's love on someone, then they bear no evidence of true devotion to Christ. ~ Eric Ludy
Living God quotes by Eric Ludy
Every player should be accorded the privilege of at least one season with the Chicago Cubs. That's baseball as it should be played - in God's own sunshine. And that's really living. ~ Alvin Dark
Living God quotes by Alvin Dark
This is the ministry and its work
not to drill hearts and minds and consciences into right forms of thought and mental postures, but to guide to the living God who speaks. ~ Frederick William Robertson
Living God quotes by Frederick William Robertson
I come now to tell you for what I am brought here to die, and to give you an account of my faith, which I shall do as in the sight of the living God before whom I am shortly to stand. ~ Donald Cargill
Living God quotes by Donald Cargill
Have you experienced communion with God and Christ? Have you sensed His presence? Do you have a love for Him that draws you to His presence? Have you experienced the sweet communion of prayer - the exhilarating joy of talking to the living God? Have you experienced the refreshing, almost overwhelming sense of grace that comes upon you when you discover a new truth in His Word? ~ John F. MacArthur Jr.
Living God quotes by John F. MacArthur Jr.
The Holy Book of the living God suffers more from its exponents today than from its opponents. ~ Leonard Ravenhill
Living God quotes by Leonard Ravenhill
If riches increase, set not your hearts upon them: so if friends increase, set not your hearts upon them, but trust in the living God, let it be the living God that you rest on even for all outward things in this world. ~ Jeremiah Burroughs
Living God quotes by Jeremiah Burroughs
To say that some kind of god might exist is to vivify its being with mystery. To define a god into existence because it meets certain criteria for godhood is to kill that god by turning it into a cheapjack idol with a publicity team of theologians behind it. This would explain why so many deities - all of them, in fact - have fallen apart or are in the process of doing so: eventually every god loses its mystery because it has become overqualified for its job. After a god's mystery is gone, arguments for its reality begin. Logic steps in to resuscitate what has been bled of its healthful vagueness. Finally, another "living god" is consigned to the mortuary of scholars. ~ Thomas Ligotti
Living God quotes by Thomas Ligotti
I am the true God; I am the living God, the eternal King. I am the Most High over all the earth; I am exalted far above all gods. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of my throne; love and faithfulness go before me. My plans stand firm forever, the purposes of my heart through all generations. The heavens proclaim my righteousness, and all the peoples see my glory. ~ Zhang Yun
Living God quotes by Zhang Yun
To know God is to be adjusted to daily living. ~ Alfred Armand Montapert
Living God quotes by Alfred Armand Montapert
We make a fatal mistake when we try to force Scripture to offer redemption to those who want to go to heaven but who don't want a relationship with the living God. By trying to offer some minimal standard of conduct that will allow them to qualify for salvation while continuing to to pursue their own agendas, we distort the gospel and destroy its power, and we concoct legalistic games to give them a false sense of security. ~ Wayne Jacobsen
Living God quotes by Wayne Jacobsen
It is a maxim that will endure: To truly know the living God, this begets humility. ~ Miguel De Molinos
Living God quotes by Miguel De Molinos
There is nothing we could do of greater importance than to have fortified in our individual lives an unshakable conviction that Jesus is the Christ, the living Son of the living God. ~ Gordon B. Hinckley
Living God quotes by Gordon B. Hinckley
Society is now really ruled by its own logos; say rather by a whole pantheon of its own hypostases and powers ... we are beginning to suspect that the idols are vain, but their demonic influence upon our lives is not thereby allayed. For it is one thing to entertain critical doubts regarding the god of this world, and another thing to perceive the dunamis, the meaning and might of the living God who is building a new world. ~ Karl Barth
Living God quotes by Karl Barth
We live our lives before the wild, dangerous, unfettered and free character of the living God. ~ Walter Brueggemann
Living God quotes by Walter Brueggemann
Faith is not our saviour. It was not faith that was born at Bethlehem and died on Golgotha for us. It was not faith that loved us, and gave itself for us; that bore our sins in its own body on the tree; that died and rose again for our sins. Faith is one thing, the Saviour is another. Faith is one thing, and the cross is another. Let us not confound them, nor ascribe to a poor, imperfect act of man, that which belongs exclusively to the Son of the Living God. ~ Horatius Bonar
Living God quotes by Horatius Bonar
God's will is that we would be righteous in our living. God is holy, and the whole scheme of redemption has holiness for its goal. ~ Billy Graham
Living God quotes by Billy Graham
To them that long for the presence of the living God, the thought of Him is sweetest itself: but there is no satiety, rather an ever-increasing appetite... ~ Bernard Of Clairvaux
Living God quotes by Bernard Of Clairvaux
God made me a girl. And He did that on purpose. But He asks me to become the kind of girl who is actually useful to His kingdom purposes. I need to become the sort of girl who is unafraid to poke my head into the battle of the ages and cry out, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine who is blaspheming the armies of the living God?" God wants me to wrestle. God wants to stick grit in my girliness. He wants me to be prepared to tangle, to interlock my soul in this eternal combat - - not with other girls, not with sweaty boys, but with Him, and with the otherworldly powers of darkness. He wants me to wrestle in prayer, to grab ahold of His great and precious promises and fight to see them unfurled in living reality on this Earth. ~ Leslie Ludy
Living God quotes by Leslie Ludy
God did not entrust his truth to the world casually or haphazardly. He gave his church the role of preserving and protecting his truth. In the same sentence that describes the church as God's household, Paul describes the valuable role the church is to play: "If i delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of truth (1 Tim. 3:15). With all of the assaults against the truth of God, what hope is there that truth and error can still be sorted out? God has established churches to study, know, do and proclaim his Word in the world ~ John Crotts
Living God quotes by John Crotts
What ... is this testimony of Jesus, how can it be acquired, and what will it do for those who receive it? The testimony of Jesus is the sure and certain knowledge, revealed to the spirit of a person through the Holy Ghost, that Jesus is the living Son of the living God. Because the testimony of Jesus is God-given, it stands preeminent and is essential to a happy life. It is the fundamental principle of our religion, and all other things pertaining to our faith are appendages to it. ~ Keith B. McMullin
Living God quotes by Keith B. McMullin
Religion is the belief in an ever-living God, that is, in a Divine Mind and Will ruling the Universe and holding moral relations with mankind. ~ James Martineau
Living God quotes by James Martineau
It is characteristic of mature love that it calls into play all man's potentialities; it engages the whole man, so to speak. Contact with the visible manifestations of God's love can awaken within us a feeling of joy born of the experience of being loved. But this encounter also engages our will and our intellect. Acknowledgment of the living God is one path towards love, and the "yes" of our will to his will unites our intellect, will and sentiments in the all- embracing act of love. But this process is always open-ended; love is never "finished" and complete; throughout life, it changes and matures, and thus remains faithful to itself. ~ Pope Benedict XVI
Living God quotes by Pope Benedict XVI
A true encounter with the living God will break the spirit of religiosity, empty man of his pride and conform even the most vile and wicked into a living vessel for His glory. ~ Robin Bertram
Living God quotes by Robin Bertram
I have felt the inspiration of the living God directing me in my labors. ~ Heber J. Grant
Living God quotes by Heber J. Grant
The world is not composed of religious and non-religious people. It is composed rather of religious people who have differing ultimate concerns, different gods, and who respond to the Living God in different ways. ~ Ronald H. Nash
Living God quotes by Ronald H. Nash
I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards. ~ Mike Huckabee
Living God quotes by Mike Huckabee
A person who believes in nonviolence believes in a living God. He cannot accept defeat. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Living God quotes by Mahatma Gandhi
God was alive when this universe exploded into existence. He was alive when Socrates drank his poison. He was the living God when William Bradford governed Plymouth Colony. He was the living God in 1966 when Thomas Altizer proclaimed him dead and Time magazine absolutely absurdly put it on the front cover. ~ John Piper
Living God quotes by John Piper
The Bible is to be our basis of authority. We must "by faith" accept [Jesus] as the Son of the living God. This sounds narrow and intolerant, and in a sense it is! ~ Billy Graham
Living God quotes by Billy Graham
Walking through each day without a clear guide, an accurate map, and a consistent light source is hazardous to your well-being. Fortunately, God's Word provides us with the tools and help that we need. ~ Stormie O'martian
Living God quotes by Stormie O'martian
Put your trust in the living God and all will be right in time and eternity. ~ John Taylor
Living God quotes by John Taylor
It is not merely our own desire but the desire of Christ in His Spirit that drives us to grow in love. Those who seldom or never feel in their hearts the desire for the love of God and other men, and who do not thirst for the pure waters of desire which are poured out in us by the strong, living God, are usually those who have drunk from other rivers or have dug for themselves broken cisterns. ~ Thomas Merton
Living God quotes by Thomas Merton
It was becoming clearer and clearer that if I wanted to come to the end of my life and not say, "I've wasted it!" then I would need to press all the way in, and all the way up, to the ultimate purpose of God and join him in it. If my life was to have a single, all-satisfying, unifying passion, it would have to be God's passion. ~ John Piper
Living God quotes by John Piper
I have nothing to hide. I am a servant of the living God. He is the only one I answer to. ~ Benny Hinn
Living God quotes by Benny Hinn
I am athirst for God, the living God. ~ Jean Ingelow
Living God quotes by Jean Ingelow
Doubt treats God's Word as human advice - but we should see doubt as a reminder of our need to pray. ~ Jim George
Living God quotes by Jim George
There is plenty of television. There are plenty of talk shows. There are plenty of comedians. But there is not plenty of worship of the true and living God. ~ Charles R. Swindoll
Living God quotes by Charles R. Swindoll
Man's glory lies not, Lincoln thought, in 'his goodness,' for this is often nonexistent. He derives glory, instead, from his being made in the image of the Living God. ~ Joe L. Wheeler
Living God quotes by Joe L. Wheeler
Many homes are on the rocks today because God has been left out of the domestic picture. With the clash of personalities in a domestic pattern, there must be an integrating force, and the living God is that Force! ~ Billy Graham
Living God quotes by Billy Graham
In a dry and thirsty land, my soul thirsts for the living God, the living water. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Living God quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Organized religion kills the living beauty of God. ~ Malcolm Muggeridge
Living God quotes by Malcolm Muggeridge
It is striking how many spiritual writers react to the specificity of real prayer. It runs deeper than Greek Neoplatonism and the influence of Buddhist spirituality. Frankly, God makes us nervous when he gets too close. We don't want a physical dependence on him. It feels hokey, like we are controlling God. Deep down we just don't like grace. We don't want to risk our prayer not being answered. We prefer the safety of isolation to engaging the living God. To embrace the Father and thus prayer is to accept what one pastor called "the sting of particularity."4 Our dislike of asking is rooted in our desire for independence. ~ Paul E. Miller
Living God quotes by Paul E. Miller
My friend (s), I'm not an atheist like you. In fact, I'm a theist. Meaning, I do believe in One Living God! ~ Mwanandeke Kindembo
Living God quotes by Mwanandeke Kindembo
As a leader it is your job to protect the missional integrity of the Jesus gathering to which you have been called. It is your responsibility to see to it that the church under your care continues as a gathering of people in process; a place where the curious, the unconvinced, the sceptical, the used-to-believe and the broken, as well as the committed, informed and sold-out come together around Peter's declaration that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. ~ Andy Stanley
Living God quotes by Andy Stanley
