Critics say that America is a lie because its reality falls so far short of its ideals. They are wrong. America is not a lie; it is a disappointment. But it can be a disappointment only because it is also a hope. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
God raises up such men as John Bunyan and William Huntington but once in a century. ~ William Romaine
Leonardos Huntington quotes by William Romaine
When he was creating this picture, Leonardo da Vinci encountered a serious problem: he had to depict Good - in the person of Jesus - and Evil - in the figure of Judas, the friend who resolves to betray him during the meal. He stopped work on the painting until he could find his ideal models.

One day, when he was listening to a choir, he saw in one of the boys the perfect image of Christ. He invited him to his studio and made sketches and studies of his face.

Three years went by. The Last Supper was almost complete, but Leonardo had still not found the perfect model for Judas. The cardinal responsible for the church started to put pressure on him to finish the mural.

After many days spent vainly searching, the artist came across a prematurely aged youth, in rags and lying drunk in the gutter. With some difficulty, he persuaded his assistants to bring the fellow directly to the church, since there was no time left to make preliminary sketches.

The beggar was taken there, not quite understanding what was going on. He was propped up by Leonardo's assistants, while Leonardo copied the lines of impiety, sin and egotism so clearly etched on his features.

When he had finished, the beggar, who had sobered up slightly, opened his eyes and saw the picture before him. With a mixture of horror and sadness he said:

'I've seen that picture before!'

'When?' asked an astonished Leonardo.

Hopefully I'll get to make another movie, so we'll see. But modeling - all the actresses are taking everything over now, with all the modeling endorsements and magazine covers. ~ Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
If the Church would have her face shine, she must go up into the mount, and be alone with God. If she would have her courts of worship resound with eucharistic praises, she must open her eyes, and see humanity lying lame at the temple gates, and heal it in the miraculous name of Jesus. ~ Frederic Dan Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Frederic Dan Huntington
The essence of Western civilization is the Magna Carta, not the Magna Mac. The fact that non-Westerners may bite into the latter has no implications for their accepting the former. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
Evolution lies at the heart of biology. It is seamlessly and continuously linked to health research to better understand such conditions as AIDS or bird flu or Parkinson's or cancer or heart disease. Every biomedical experiment, every tiny advance, every major breakthrough ultimately connects to the principles first postulated by Darwin. ~ Huntington Willard
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Huntington Willard
I always learn something from every actor I've ever worked with. I always pick something from them. ~ Sam Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Sam Huntington

Leonardos Huntington quotes by Geoffrey Huntington
Expectations should not always be taken as reality; because you never know when you will be disappointed. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington

Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
Also, of course, for most of this time most Americans thought of America as a white country with, at best, only a very segregated and subordinate role for blacks. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington

Leonardos Huntington quotes by Jasmine Tookes
It will take a long time, and certainly the West will remain the dominant civilization well into the next century, but the decline is occurring. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
Underneath this little stone
Lies Robert Earl of Huntington;
No other archer was so good -
And people called him Robin Hood.
Such outlaws as he and his men
Will England never see again. ~ Roger Lancelyn Green
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Roger Lancelyn Green
The Indians could not undertake any widespread cultivation of the plains not only because they lacked iron tools but also because they had no draft animals. ~ Ellsworth Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Ellsworth Huntington
I would be hard-pressed to look back at anything that I have done in my career and not say, 'I would have done that a little different' because hindsight is 20/20. ~ Sam Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Sam Huntington
Even the humble Wabash has its terror, for at Huntington, Indiana, three truthful damsels of the town saw its waters churned by a tail that splashed from side to side, while far ahead was the prow of the animal - a leonine skull, with whiskers, and as large as the head of a boy of a dozen years. As if realizing what kind of a report was going to be made about him, the monster was overcome with bashfulness at the sight of the maidens and sank from view. In ~ Charles Montgomery Skinner
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Charles Montgomery Skinner
I'd like to think that I'm brave. That's a really wonderful personality trait to have. I would love to think I'm the type of person to go rescue someone. ~ Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
It was this society and culture that among other things - including economic opportunities here and repression in Europe - attracted subsequent generations of immigrants to this country. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
While reason is puzzling itself about mystery, faith is turning it to daily bread, and feeding on it thankfully in her heart of hearts. ~ Frederic Dan Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Frederic Dan Huntington
It will be a vast boon to mankind when we learn to prophesy the precise dates when cycles of various kinds will reach definite stages. ~ Ellsworth Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Ellsworth Huntington
It is my hypothesis that the fundamental source of conflict in this new world will not be primarily ideological or primarily economic. The great divisions among humankind and the dominating source of conflict will be cultural. Nation-states will remain the most powerful actors in world affairs, but the principal conflicts of global politics will occur between nations and groups of different civilizations. The clash of civilizations will dominate global politics. The fault lines between civilizations will be the battle lines of the future. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
The human organism inherits so delicate an adjustment to climate that, in spite of man's boasted ability to live anywhere, the strain of the frozen North eliminates the more nervous and active types of mind. ~ Ellsworth Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Ellsworth Huntington
When I fell into modeling, because I wanted to work in fashion. I wanted to do styling or make-up. I ended getting picked up to be a model instead during my work experience. ~ Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Much of what we now consider to be problems concerning immigration and assimilation really concern Mexican immigration and assimilation. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
First of all, we haven't always welcomed immigrants. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
The prevalence of anti-patriotic attitudes among liberal intellectuals led some of them to warn their fellow liberals of the consequences of such attitudes for the future not of America but of American liberalism. Most Americans, as the American public philosopher Richard Rorty has written, take pride in their country, but 'many of the exceptions to this rule are found in colleges and universities, in the academic departments that have become sanctuaries for left-wing political views.' These leftists have done 'a great deal of good for . . . women, African-Americans, gay men and lesbians. . . . But there is a problem with this Left: it is unpatriotic. It repudiates the idea of a national identity and the emotion of national pride.' If the Left is to retain influence, it must recognize that a 'sense of shared national identity . . . is an absolutely essential component of citizenship.' Without patriotism, the Left will be unable to achieve its goals for America. Liberals, in short, must use patriotism as a means to achieve liberal goals ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
One grim Weltanschauung for this new era was well expressed by the Venetian nationalist demagogue in Michael Dibdin's novel, Dead Lagoon: There can be no true friends without true enemies. Unless we hate what we are not, we cannot love what we are. These are the old truths we are painfully rediscovering after a century and more of sentimental cant. Those who deny them deny their family, their heritage, their culture, their birthright, their very selves! They will not lightly be forgiven. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
Utterly ingenious! Tiffany Trent has more fine invention at her fingertips than a roomful of magical Leonardos! ~ Ellen Kushner
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Ellen Kushner
Behavior is the perpetual revealing of us. What a man does, tells us what he is. ~ Frederic Dan Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Frederic Dan Huntington
Back at two o'clock in the Roi George corridor the beauty of Nicole had been the beauty of Rosemary as the beauty of Leonardo's girl was to that of the girl of an illustrator. Dick moved on through the rain, demoniac and frightened, the passions of many men inside him and nothing simple that he could see. ~ F Scott Fitzgerald
Leonardos Huntington quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
My favorite museums are things like the Frick Museum in New York and the Huntington Hartford in Pasadena where it's someone's home that you walk through. ~ Larry Ellison
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Larry Ellison
You never really lose people if your memories are greater than your pain , because the heart still holds on when reality has made you let it go. ~ Don Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Don Huntington

Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
If we do not know what the sorrow of penitence is, we have been living only on the surface of life
unmindful of its deep realities, unconscious of its grander glories. ~ Frederic Dan Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Frederic Dan Huntington
Historically, I've done movies, but I've got a family already. I've been doing this for many years, and the idea of working consistently on something that I really, really love, and the steadiness of it, was really appealing. ~ Sam Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Sam Huntington
Curiously enough man's body and his mind appear to differ in their climatic adaptations. ~ Ellsworth Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Ellsworth Huntington

Leonardos Huntington quotes by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Leonardos Huntington quotes by Ellsworth Huntington
I once drove a pair of horses from New York to Vicksburg, and to this day I can almost map out that country as I saw it then, with its hills and valleys, villages and rivers. Yes, I naturally attribute something of my success in railroad building to the interest I take in such things. ~ Collis Potter Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Collis Potter Huntington
Democracy is premised, in some measure, on majority rule, and democracy is difficult in a situation of concentrated inequalities in which a large, impoverished majority confronts a small, wealthy oligarchy. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
I never really gave much thought to Fate, but every time I considered how hard the world must have worked to get our paths to intersect so many different ways, I became a believer. ~ Parker S. Huntington
Leonardos Huntington quotes by Parker S. Huntington
True grace is natural, not artificial, because, however strenuously you strive to gain it, when it is gained it never gives the impression of effort or straining for effect. ~ Frederic Dan Huntington
