Remember civil and religious liberty always go together: if the foundation of the one be sapped, the other will fall of course. ~ Alexander Hamilton
Kokie Foundation quotes by Alexander Hamilton
Remember what one of our philosophers once said, 'In the human heart there is a perpetual generation of passions, such that the ruin of one is almost always the foundation of another. ~ Richard Castle
Kokie Foundation quotes by Richard Castle
Courtesy is the foundation of all good manners. ~ William Riley Brooksher
Kokie Foundation quotes by William Riley Brooksher
There is no outward sign of true courtesy that does not rest on a deep moral foundation. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Kokie Foundation quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
2:6.8
The love of God saves the sinner; the law of God destroys the sin. ~ Urantia Foundation
Kokie Foundation quotes by Urantia Foundation
Happiness is a constant work-in-progress, because solving problems is a constant work-in-progress - the solutions to today's problems will lay the foundation for tomorrow's problems, and so on. True happiness occurs only when you find the problems you enjoy having and enjoy solving. Sometimes ~ Mark Manson
Kokie Foundation quotes by Mark Manson
As a principle-centered person, you see things differently. And because you see things differently, you think differently, you act differently. Because you have a high degree of security, guidance, wisdom, and power that flows from a solid, unchanging core, you have the foundation of a highly proactive and highly effective life. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Kokie Foundation quotes by Stephen R. Covey
Genius is often a short way of spelling hard work. Poverty, obscurity, struggle and ambition formed the foundation for many careers of transcendent achievement. Few marks are made in the world's history by eight-hour-day men ... Sir Joshua Reynolds had but one maxim for success: Work, work, work. Is not rigid and continuous training necessary for the making of strong athletes? Hard work is not fatal to real success. Vouloir c'est pouvoir. ~ B.C. Forbes
Kokie Foundation quotes by B.C. Forbes
Going to live at Baltimore laid the foundation, and opened the gateway, to all my subsequent prosperity. ~ Frederick Douglass
Kokie Foundation quotes by Frederick Douglass
This country [the Philippines] is like a pyramid, like a tower. It is made up of millions of stones ... And the foundation stone of this pyramid is the common man. ~ Ramon Magsaysay
Kokie Foundation quotes by Ramon Magsaysay
I foresee,' said Goethe, 'the dawn of a new literature which all people may claim as their own, for all have contributed to its foundation.' If, then, this is so, and if the materials for a civilisation as great as that of Europe lie all around you, what profit, you will ask me, will all this study of our poets and painters be to you? I might answer that the intellect can be engaged without direct didactic object on an artistic and historical problem; that the demand of the intellect is merely to feel itself alive; that nothing which has ever interested men or women can cease to be a fit subject for culture. ~ Oscar Wilde
Kokie Foundation quotes by Oscar Wilde
―Yeah, but what about the ritual of getting your ticket and your snacks, finding the perfect seat, ―I countered.― All those strangers watching the movie with you, they change how you see it, you know? You should hear their gasps and laughter and sniffling. It's a communal experience. You can't get that on your laptop or phone. That sharing, it's the foundation of storytelling. It reminds us that we're…
―What?
―Human. Humans who need other humans ~ Libba Bray
Kokie Foundation quotes by Libba Bray
You want a woman who shares your belief and your faith because that is usually your core. So, you want a woman whom you know can stand on that same foundation you both equally embrace and share. You also want a woman who is ambitious but also knows how to balance it with family. ~ Tony Gaskins
Kokie Foundation quotes by Tony Gaskins
By the age of three, the child has already laid down the foundations of his personality as a human being, and only then does he need the help of special scholastic influences. So great are the conquests he has made that one may well say: the child who goes to school at three is already a little man. ~ Maria Montessori
Kokie Foundation quotes by Maria Montessori
I created my foundation as a result of that and my website, and I try to shed some light on some very topical issues right now. The idea is to try to get people to become obviously more knowledgeable about the issue and try to get corporations and individuals to contribute to these nonprofit organizations. ~ Leonardo DiCaprio
Kokie Foundation quotes by Leonardo DiCaprio
In the 1890s, when Freud was in the dawn of his career, he was struck by how many of his female patients were revealing childhood incest victimization to him. Freud concluded that child sexual abuse was one of the major causes of emotional disturbances in adult women and wrote a brilliant and humane paper called "The Aetiology of Hysteria." However, rather than receiving acclaim from his colleagues for his ground-breaking insights, Freud met with scorn. He was ridiculed for believing that men of excellent reputation (most of his patients came from upstanding homes) could be perpetrators of incest.
Within a few years, Freud buckled under this heavy pressure and recanted his conclusions. In their place he proposed the "Oedipus complex," which became the foundation of modern psychology. According to this theory any young girl actually desires sexual contact with her father, because she wants to compete with her mother to be the most special person in his life. Freud used this construct to conclude that the episodes of incestuous abuse his clients had revealed to him had never taken place; they were simply fantasies of events the women had wished for when they were children and that the women had come to believe were real. This construct started a hundred-year history in the mental health field of blaming victims for the abuse perpetrated on them and outright discrediting of women's and children's reports of mistreatment by men.
Once abuse was denied in this way, the st ~ Lundy Bancroft
Kokie Foundation quotes by Lundy Bancroft
Excuses tell me two things about a person; they aren't honest with themselves, or others, and they believe I can't see they are lying to both of us - Tom too tall Cunningham ~ Tom Cunningham
Kokie Foundation quotes by Tom Cunningham
Works without faith are like a fish without water, it wants the element it should live in. A building without a basis cannot stand; faith is the foundation, and every good action is as a stone laid. ~ Owen Feltham
Kokie Foundation quotes by Owen Feltham
There is a very good organization called "Make a Wish Foundation" that helps make a dying child's wishes come true.
People go out of their way and work together to create an unbelievable lasting memory for a deserving person.
What just dawned on me was:
Why do we wait until someone is dying in order to do that?
We have the opportunity to do this everyday for many, many, many people over our lifetime.
It doesn't have to be a really big wish, small wishes add up fast.
Imagine how much better the world would be if we all granted each other small wishes that came true every day.
Find someone today and implement the "Make a Wish" concept in your life.
Watch what happens. ~ JohnA Passaro
Kokie Foundation quotes by JohnA Passaro
Holy Scripture is the highest authority for every believer, the standard of faith and the foundation for reform ... ~ John Wycliffe
Kokie Foundation quotes by John Wycliffe
Consider children as a beat. Clearly not an institution of power, children don't vote and they don't pass taxes. They have no money, and they don't buy newspapers or watch the news on television. Consequently, children are one of the most neglected segments of society in the news, except as a subtopic of other power beats such as education, family, and crime. Children are in serious trouble in this society, which means the foundation of our society is in trouble, which means the future is in trouble, and that is news. ~ Joan Konner
Kokie Foundation quotes by Joan Konner
If the Atonement is the foundation of our faith (and it is), then no one should be content with a casual acquaintance of this doctrine. Instead, the Atonement should be paramount in our intellectual and spiritual pursuits. ~ Tad R. Callister
Kokie Foundation quotes by Tad R. Callister
I remember going to Bob Preston's dressing room because I was losing a laugh - as you do in a long run. He said, 'Give me the script. That's where you're going off the road.' That's comedy. It's never the line itself; it's in the foundation. ~ Jeffrey Tambor
Kokie Foundation quotes by Jeffrey Tambor
INTELLECT AND ITS NOBLE NATURE. The noble nature of knowledge has been revealed through intellect. Intellect is the source and fountainhead of knowledge and its foundation. Knowledge is like the fruit of a tree and it flows from intellect, or like the light of the sun or like the vision of the eye. Why should it not be honored when it is the cause of fortune in this world and the next? What is there to distinguish between beasts and men except intellect? Even a ferocious beast which has got more strength than man fears a man at seeing him as it knows that he may put him into snare on account of his intellect. ~ Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali
Kokie Foundation quotes by Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali
Quite ironically, the answer to ineffective philanthropy is more of it: the failure of philanthropy is its own success. The perceived necessity - even the indispensability - of a donor like the Gates Foundation grows in proportion to its own inability to achieve the unachievable: mitigating the very inequalities that its own presence might be inadvertently compounding. ~ Linsey McGoey
Kokie Foundation quotes by Linsey McGoey
No genuine equality, no real freedom, no true manhood or womanhood can exist on any foundation save that of pecuniary independence. As a right over a man's subsistence is a power over his moral being, so a right over a woman's subsistence enslaves her will, degrades her pride and vitiates her whole moral nature. ~ Susan B. Anthony
Kokie Foundation quotes by Susan B. Anthony
If we choose an external marker as the measure of our inner worth, whether it is the amount of money we make, or others' opinion of us, or the success of some project we're involved in, sooner or later we're bound to be battered by life's inevitable changes. After all, money comes and goes, and thus is an unstable source of self-esteem, an unreliable foundation upon which to build our identity. ~ Dalai Lama
Kokie Foundation quotes by Dalai Lama
We know at lot more now than the 'last time around the 1960s and 1970s - about how to work for smart schools ... ' 'The smart school finds it's foundation in a rich and evolving set of principles about human thinking and learning.' ~ David Perkins
Kokie Foundation quotes by David Perkins
Who would hold her hand and guide her through that darkness?
'Am I not here, my girl?' The affectionate words of Mother Earth gave her the strength of a thousand elephants.
Her mother was independent. She would go to her mother. Her mother was omnipotent. So she could take Sita into her embrace. Sita had now seen it all - sons, fathers, sons' obedience to fathers, wives' faithfulness to husbands, motherhood. But there was one thing she had not seen. Nor had Ahalya, Surpanakha or Urmila experienced it. It was what Renuka had faced - the brutality of her own son. She had seen the dharma-bound cruelty of her son who, taking his father's word as the word of the Vedas, was ready to hack her head off. She then realized what the foundation of that cruelty was. How many whirlpools must have stirred in her heart then? And how deep they must have been? In fact, so deep as to challenge Arya Dharma itself. ~ Volga

Eradicate them, and there is nothing ~ Nasreen Pejvack
Kokie Foundation quotes by Nasreen Pejvack
I want to create a foundation, like a maison, in my home in the Marais. I am going to leave everything there. I am only passing through. I'm not a proprietor of anything, even if I have homes and things. ~ Azzedine Alaia
Kokie Foundation quotes by Azzedine Alaia
In homes where high ideals and gospel values are maintained, it is parents, not teachers, who lay the foundation of character and faith in the hearts of their children. ~ Rex D. Pinegar
Kokie Foundation quotes by Rex D. Pinegar
I believe the things I love inwardly will be received by the right people outwardly. I believe that what I believe in will be received well. I try to keep that as a foundation to what I do. ~ Negash Ali
Kokie Foundation quotes by Negash Ali
We built a perfect little cottage out of sand with the help of Farley's tin and the rusting bucket, and some lichen we peeled from rocks for window-box flowers. We left it there all day, and when the tide came up, the waves refused to disturb it, only lapping away at the foundation enough to cement it more firmly to the beach. ~ Rita Murphy
Kokie Foundation quotes by Rita Murphy
The true foundation of theology is to ascertain the character of God. It is by the aid of Statistics that law in the social sphere can be ascertained and codified, and certain aspects of the character of God thereby revealed. The study of statistics is thus a religious service. ~ Florence Nightingale
Kokie Foundation quotes by Florence Nightingale
Seed is not just the source of life. It is the very foundation of our being. ~ Vandana Shiva
Kokie Foundation quotes by Vandana Shiva
We lay foundations that will need further development. ~ Oscar Romero
