Thing to act. Act with thought. -The Pythian Scrolls.
Through the Oracle's Mist ~ Aedan Byrnes
Inspired Thought quotes by Aedan Byrnes
A frightening number of whom had IQ scores in the low 70s? I stopped reading and just stuck the records out of sight in a bottom drawer of my desk, and never thought of them again until the end of the year when I was throwing away the accumulation of papers in my desk. I was furious with those scores. My kids were not dumb! I've never trusted standardized tests since. ~ Katherine Paterson
Inspired Thought quotes by Katherine Paterson
I liked to hear him talk, skipping from one thought to another with his eclectic mix of innocence, wisdom, mild mysticism and earthiness. ~ Fabian Black
Inspired Thought quotes by Fabian Black
What melancholy thought,' said the King, 'can possibly reach your heart when I place mine as a rampart before it? ~ Alexandre Dumas
Inspired Thought quotes by Alexandre Dumas
No eyes will raise to heaven. The pure will be thought insane and the impure will be honoured as wise. The madman will be believed brave, and the wicked esteemed as good. ~ Hermes Trismegistus
Inspired Thought quotes by Hermes Trismegistus
And at some point, I thought, well, I've been really lucky to see many, many places. Now, the great adventure is the inner world, now that I've spent a lot of time gathering emotions, impressions, and experiences. Now, I just want to sit still for years on end, really, charting that inner landscape because I think anybody who travels knows that you're not really doing so in order to move around - you're traveling in order to be moved. And really what you're seeing is not just the Grand Canyon or the Great Wall but some moods or intimations or places inside yourself that you never ordinarily see when you're sleepwalking through your daily life. I thought, there's this great undiscovered terrain that Henry David Thoreau and Thomas Merton and Emily Dickinson fearlessly investigated, and I want to follow in their footsteps. You've ~ Krista Tippett
Inspired Thought quotes by Krista Tippett
People would make the decisions they wished to make and some of them would hurt both themselves and those who loved them, and some would pass unnoticed, while others would bring joy. ~ Rachel Joyce
Inspired Thought quotes by Rachel Joyce
I always loved to gamble. I never got close to a horse. Fate dealt me a terrible blow when it gave me a good horse the first time out. I thought how easy this is. Now I love being around them. ~ Jack Klugman
Inspired Thought quotes by Jack Klugman
I never have thought I was beautiful and I never can get beautiful enough. I'm always doing whatever I can to look as good as I can, nipping and tucking if necessary. When you're older, you probably look more bizarre to people. But I don't care. I'm just totally convinced that it's more important that I be happy with me. ~ Dolly Parton
Inspired Thought quotes by Dolly Parton
Every presidential candidate highlights patriotism, but Mr. Romney's is backed by the Mormon belief that the United States was chosen by God to play a special role in history, its Constitution divinely inspired. ~ Jodi Kantor
Inspired Thought quotes by Jodi Kantor
When I think of the people I've worked with, all of them have great passion, and the passion is what keeps people inspired. ~ Guido Palau
Inspired Thought quotes by Guido Palau
I have repeatedly said, when asked, that if the stories about me helped inspired our troops and rally a nation, then perhaps there was some good. ~ Jessica Lynch
Inspired Thought quotes by Jessica Lynch
I've always thought the pre-Revolutionary system was more elegant, but it did concentrate too much power in the hands of one person. Keyes says that at least you knew who the man was then. The person who represents a Lobby in Congress is never the one who makes the real decisions; the real leaders are rarely identifiable and are never held responsible for their actions. If a puppet gets in trouble they sacrifice him and haul out another. I don't doubt that that's true, at least some of the time, but it's certainly not the whole story. If a Lobby consistently acts against the public interest, its voting power dwindles away. Keyes says that's a cynical illusion: all the polls reflect is how much money a Lobby has put into advertising. ~ Joe Haldeman
Inspired Thought quotes by Joe Haldeman
I had never thought of a tomato as a fruit - the ones I had known were mostly white in the center and rock hard. But this was so luscious, so tart I thought it victorious. So - some tomatoes tasted like water, and some tasted like summer lightning. ~ Stephanie Danler
Inspired Thought quotes by Stephanie Danler
In meditation which is a continuous flow of staying in the state at all times and in every circumstance there is neither suppression nor production of dwelling and proliferation; if there is dwelling, that is the dharmakaya's own face and if there is proliferation, that is preserved as the self-liveliness of wisdom, so,

"Then, whether there is proliferation or dwelling,"

Whatever comes from mind's liveliness as discursive thoughts, be it the truth of the source - afflictions of anger, attachment, and so on - or the truth of unsatisfactoriness - the flavours of experience which are the feelings of happiness, sadness, and so on - if the nature of the discursive thoughts is known as dharmata, they become the shifting events of the dharmakaya, so,

"Anger, attachment, happiness, or sadness,"

That does not finish it though; generally speaking if they are met with through the view but not finished with by bringing them to the state with meditation, they fall into ordinary wandering in confusion and if that happens, you are bound into cyclic existence by the discursive thoughts of your own mindstream and, dharma and your own mindstream having remained separate, you become an ordinary person who has nothing special about them. Not to be separated from a great non-meditated self-resting is what is needed . . .

Additionally, whatever discursive thought or affliction arises, it is not something apart from dharmakaya wisdom, rather, t ~ Patrul Rinpoche
Inspired Thought quotes by Patrul Rinpoche
Wow, girlfriend, you're incompatible with life!
And here I thought I was just incompatible with pink. ~ MaryJanice Davidson
Inspired Thought quotes by MaryJanice Davidson
People are too emotional about communism, or rather, about their own Communist Parties, to think about a subject that one day will be a subject for sociologists. Which is, the social activities that go on as a direct or indirect result of the existence of a Communist Party. People or groups of people who don't even know it have been inspired, or animated, or given a new push into life because of the Communist Party, and this is true of all countries where there has been even a tiny Communist Party. In our own small town, a year after Russia entered the war, and the left had recovered because of it, there had come into existence (apart from the direct activities of the Party which is not what I am talking about) a small orchestra, readers' circles, two dramatic groups, a film society, an amateur survey of the conditions of urban African children which, when it was published, stirred the white conscience and was the beginning of a long-overdue sense of guilt, and half a dozen discussion groups on African problems. For the first time in its existence there was something like a cultural life in that town. And it was enjoyed by hundreds of people who knew of the communists only as a group of people to hate. And of course a good many of these phenomena were disapproved of by the communists themselves, then at their most energetic and dogmatic. Yet the communists had inspired them because a dedicated faith in humanity spreads ripples in all directions. ~ Doris Lessing
Inspired Thought quotes by Doris Lessing
If u can't say the truth, don't lie... ~ GOBA
Inspired Thought quotes by GOBA
If I survived at all, it would be a triumph. If I swam, it would be a miracle. As I unlocked my door, I thought of my mother putting her age back fifteen years and going into the merchant marines. I had to try. If I ended in defeat, at least I would be trying. Trying to overcome was black people's honorable tradition. ~ Maya Angelou
Inspired Thought quotes by Maya Angelou
When the president opened her eyes, the Bailey twins were gone. She looked around the Oval Office, but they had vanished into thin air. The president let out a deep sigh and glanced down at the magenta book in her hands. It was heavy in weight and in responsibility.
"And I thought health care would be my greatest hurdle," she said. ~ Chris Colfer
Inspired Thought quotes by Chris Colfer
Relationships are messy and painful, and hard to maintain. It takes time build, but only seconds to destroy. ~ Alexis Tiger
Inspired Thought quotes by Alexis Tiger
I was its skin, its movement, its shape, its god, its creator, its destroyer. And you thought Dexter was bad. The Bridgeman arrives soon. ~ Catherine Astolfo
Inspired Thought quotes by Catherine Astolfo
That odd capacity for destitution, as if by nature we ought to have so much more than nature gives us. As if we are shockingly unclothed when we lack the complacencies of ordinary life. In destitution, even of feeling or purpose, a human being is more hauntingly human and vulnerable to kindnesses because there is the sense that things should be otherwise, and then the thought of what is wanting and what alleviation would be, and how the soul could be put at ease, restored. At home. But the soul finds its own home if it ever has a home at all. ~ Marilynne Robinson
Inspired Thought quotes by Marilynne Robinson
How old are you, really?" I asked. "Eleven." I thought for a bit. Then I asked, "How long have you been eleven for? ~ Neil Gaiman
Inspired Thought quotes by Neil Gaiman
I recall a battle once,' said Dickens, looking up at a tree. 'In history, it was. And there was this company, see, and they was a ragtag of different squads and covered in mud in any case, and they found themselves hiding in a field of carrots. So as a badge they all pulled up carrots and stuck them on their helmets so's they'd know who their friends were and incidentally have a nourishing snack for later, which is never to be sneezed at on a battlefield.'
'Well? So what?" said Dibbler.
'So what's wrong with a lilac flower?' said Dickens, reaching up and pulling down a laden branch. 'Makes a spanking plume, even if you can't eat it…'
And now, Vimes thought, it ends. ~ Terry Pratchett
Inspired Thought quotes by Terry Pratchett
The three-o'-clock in the morning courage, which Bonaparte thought was the rarest. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Inspired Thought quotes by Henry David Thoreau
Long ago they lowered insane persons into snake pits; they thought that an experience that might drive a sane person out of his wits might send an insane person back to sanity. ~ Mary Jane Ward
Inspired Thought quotes by Mary Jane Ward
It was the oldest friends who mattered most. With each passing year, Paulette realized this more deeply. She thought of her borther Roy, retired to Arizona, to golf with other men who were also - she loathed the expression - senior citizens. Roy had arrived in Phoenix with an entire life behind him, a career, a marriage; to his new friends he'd always be old. ~ Jennifer Haigh
Inspired Thought quotes by Jennifer Haigh
Scientists are a cold-blooded bunch. Standing by while innocent people are killed, while the power you so generously donated is twisted and warped by the fragile little minds of the ordinary people. I can't believe you thought your plan would ever work. - Darquesse, to Argeddion ~ Derek Landy
Inspired Thought quotes by Derek Landy
Jefferson thought schools would produce free men: we prove him right by putting dropouts in jail. ~ Benjamin Barber
Inspired Thought quotes by Benjamin Barber
Having had been not so well traveled as a kid, as most teenagers aren't, I always thought, "Okay I'm going to focus my energy on rap and the rap game, because that's how I'm going to be able to pay rent and pay off my school loans." But seeing the reaction with this whole gay rap situation has made me not want to play into it at all anymore and just make whatever. ~ Le1f
Inspired Thought quotes by Le1f
As we celebrate the 100th birthday of Margaret Sanger, our outrageous and our courageous leader, we will probably find a number of areas in which we may find more about Margaret Sanger than we thought we wanted to know ... ~ Faye Wattleton
Inspired Thought quotes by Faye Wattleton
The thought is just as strong as the consequence. ~ Anthony Liccione
Inspired Thought quotes by Anthony Liccione
To tell the truth, the chariot was an astonishing sight to behold, because I had polished the steel of my flying house so carefully that it reflected the sunlight on all sides. It was so bright and dazzling that I thought, myself, that I had been carried away in a chariot of fire. ~ Cyrano De Bergerac
Inspired Thought quotes by Cyrano De Bergerac
Nature wants us to enjoy life to the full and die without giving it a second thought; Christianity wants the opposite. ~ Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve
Inspired Thought quotes by Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve
Why do you continue your... charade? Your current position would seem to be a good one for revealing the truth'.
'A few people know, sir. Bobby, Jane, some of the Leatherbacks. For the rest... it just seems easier to keep things as they are.' Winter thought of Novus and his tirade. 'It would be one thing if I had just joined up, but it's been so long. People might be upset that they'd been fooled. And...'
Janus raised an eyebrow. Winter hesitated.
'It's all right for the Girl's Own,' she said. 'They joined up because Vordan needs them, and when the war's over they'll go home. I... I haven't anywhere to go.' She tugged the collar of her uniform. 'This is who I am now, for better or worse. This is my home. After the war, maybe it will be all right for a woman to keep this on, but... maybe not.'
Winter found her throat getting thick. She'd never put it that way before, never even thought it so bluntly. This is my home. ~ Django Wexler
Inspired Thought quotes by Django Wexler
I've heard of a third eye, but I didn't realize it was a googly eye. I thought it was mythical. ~ Jean Oram
Inspired Thought quotes by Jean Oram
Miramax didn't introduce the actors at any of the screenings. That's why a lot of people thought 'Kids' was a documentary. I still meet people who think it was real. ~ Leo Fitzpatrick
Inspired Thought quotes by Leo Fitzpatrick
At university I had a big coloured scarf and people would often say, 'All right, Doctor Who?' And, I thought, I rather liked that notion. ~ Matt Smith
Inspired Thought quotes by Matt Smith
Power is what they want, not candy-power to execute their design, power to give legs and feet, form and actuality to their thought; which, to a clear-sighted man, appears the end for which the universe exists, and all its resources might be well applied. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Inspired Thought quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Roses," she thought sardonically, "All trash, m'dear. ~ Virginia Woolf
Inspired Thought quotes by Virginia Woolf

Inspired Thought quotes by William Somerset Maugham
I sit and I write automatically. I don't really try to write. My subconscious mind takes over and writes the songs for me. Songs come very easily for me. When I'm inspired, it takes me 20 minutes to write a song. ~ Brian Wilson
Inspired Thought quotes by Brian Wilson
As Paul Tillich put it, suffering introduces you to yourself and reminds you that you are not the person you thought you were. ~ David Brooks
