Incredible how so many people have no sense of honor. How does this happen? This happens by thriving on how one appears to the world around him rather than cultivating a person inside him that he knows is honorable and that he can be proud of. When all the focus is on what people think about you based upon your facebook profile or based upon the exterior that you put on everyday; you leave no room for looking at yourself and saying, "I want to look into the mirror every day and see someone that I can be proud of." And that's what a life of honor is based upon. It is based upon the knowledge that you know your own actions, your own self, and you can see the things that you do and know the things that you think. You answer to yourself, therefore, your standards need to come up to what you expect of yourself. It doesn't matter at all if anybody is looking. When such a sense of honor is present in a large group of people, that's when we see no crime rate or a very low crime rate, respect for other human life and personas, respect for the surroundings and really a respect for oneself. Because a respect for other people can only first be born from a true respect for oneself. ~ C. JoyBell C.
Honor System quotes by C. JoyBell C.
Faith standeth in God's power, and is robed in God's majesty; it weareth the royal apparel, and rideth on the King's horse, for it is the grace which the King delighteth to honor. Girding itself with the glorious might of the all-working Spirit, it becomes, in the omnipotence of God, mighty to do, to dare, and to suffer. All things, without limit, are possible to him that believeth. My soul, canst thou believe thy Lord tonight? ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Honor System quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government. ~ Barack Obama
Honor System quotes by Barack Obama
I think we should have basically the same tax policy that Germany, Japan, the U.K., everybody else has, which is a tax rate in the mid-20s and no loopholes. Zero. The U.S. has the most antiquated tax system. And that means some people are going to pay more taxes, and some people are going to pay less. ~ Jeffrey R. Immelt
Honor System quotes by Jeffrey R. Immelt
Modern schools and universities push students into habits of depersonalized learning, alienation from nature and sexuality, obedience to hierarchy, fear of authority, self-objectification, and chilling competitiveness. These character traits are the essence of the twisted personality-type of modern industrialism. They are precisely the character traits needed to maintain a social system that is utterly out of touch with nature, sexuality and real human needs. ~ Arthur Evans
Honor System quotes by Arthur Evans
Corruption in education leads to some people getting highly educated and then these people support the uneducated to rule over the illiterate masses. ~ Amit Abraham
Honor System quotes by Amit Abraham
Thanks again, sir." Jules shook his hand again.
"You're welcome again," the captain said, his smile warm. "I'll be back aboard the ship myself at around nineteen hundred. If it's okay with you, I'll, uh, stop in, see how you're doing."
Son of a bitch. Was Jules getting hit on? Max looked at Webster again. He looked like a Marine. Muscles, meticulous uniform, well-groomed hair. That didn't make him gay. And he'd smiled warmly at Max, too. The man was friendly, personable. And yet . . .
Jules was flustered.
"Thanks," he said. "That would be . . . That'd be nice. Would you excuse me, though, for a sec? I've got to speak to Max, before I, uh . . . But I'll head over to the ship right away."
Webster shook Max's hand. "It was an honor meeting you, sir." He smiled again at Jules.
Okay, he hadn't smiled at Max like that.
Max waited until the captain and the medic both were out of earshot. "Is he - "
"Don't ask, don't tell." Jules said. "But, oh my God."
"He seems nice," Max said.
"Yes," Jules said. "Yes, he does."
"So. The White House?"
"Yeah. About that . . ." Jules took a deep breath. "I need to let you know that you might be getting a call from President Bryant."
"Might be," Max repeated.
"Yes," Jules said. "In a very definite way." He spoke quickly, trying to run his words together: "I had a very interesting conversation with him in which I kind of let slip that you'd resigned again and he was unhappy about tha ~ Suzanne Brockmann
Honor System quotes by Suzanne Brockmann
As her analyst had told her: the deeper buried the distress, the further into the body it went. The digestive system was about as far as it could go to hide. ~ Richard Matheson
Honor System quotes by Richard Matheson
The slower but consistent tortoise causes less waste and is more desirable than the speedy hare that races ahead and then stops occasionally to doze. The Toyota Production System can be realized only when all the workers become tortoises. ~ Taiichi Ohno
Honor System quotes by Taiichi Ohno
Our Congresses consist of Christians. In their private life they are true to every obligation of honor; yet in every session they violate them all, and do it without shame. Because honor to party is above honor to themselves. ~ Mark Twain
Honor System quotes by Mark Twain
Why do we use the term "greatest generation" for participants in war? Why not for those who have opposed war, who have tried to make us understand that war has never solved fundamental problems?

Should we not honor, instead of parachutists and bomber pilots, those conscientious objectors who refused to fight or the radicals and pacifists who opposed the idea that young people of one nation should kill young people of another nation to serve the purposes of politicians and financiers? ~ Howard Zinn
Honor System quotes by Howard Zinn
Traders take a good system and destroy it by trying to make it into a perfect system. ~ Robert Prechter
Honor System quotes by Robert Prechter
My workouts include aerobic exercise for a healthy cardiovascular system; strength training to maintain muscle tone and bone density; core strength exercise for a stable mid-section; and stretching to maintain mobility. ~ Samantha Stosur
Honor System quotes by Samantha Stosur
Peace is the music of every soul. Our glory lies in understanding, listening and honoring that music ~ Amit Ray
Honor System quotes by Amit Ray
It is as if evolution has built a safety device in our nervous system that allows us to experience full happiness only when we are living at 100%-when we are fully using the physical and mental equipment we have been given. ~ Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
Honor System quotes by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
My whole belief system is that our paths are drawn for us. I believe in reincarnation. I believe we're here to learn and grow. We choose how we come into this life based on what it is we have to learn. Some people have harder lessons than others. ~ Gillian Anderson
Honor System quotes by Gillian Anderson
It is an amazing thing to watch people laugh, the way it sort of takes them over. Sometimes they really do struggle with it ... so I wonder what it is and where it comes from, and I wonder what it expends out of your system, so that you have to do it till you're done, like crying in a way, I suppose, except that laughter is much more easily spent. ~ Marilynne Robinson
Honor System quotes by Marilynne Robinson
A nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure. ~ Abraham Lincoln
Honor System quotes by Abraham Lincoln
You want to know what I make? I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I can make a C+ feel like a Congressional Medal of Honor and an A-minus feel like a slap in the face. ~ Taylor Mali
Honor System quotes by Taylor Mali
It's truly an honor to get to write Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman and all those great people, but when you can take something that's not well thought of and make it something that people do think highly of, that's much more gratifying, I think. ~ Andrew Kreisberg
Honor System quotes by Andrew Kreisberg
Pennebaker began his studies in the 1980s when he asked students to write about traumatic, stressful or emotional events for twenty minutes over three consecutive days. His results found improvements in both physical and psychological health. People were happier and healthier when they wrote, including reduced visits to doctors, positive effects on blood pressure, improved liver and immune system functioning and less use of pain medication. Writing also had beneficial effects on emotional health and enhanced social relationships. ~ Patricia McAdoo
Honor System quotes by Patricia McAdoo
The vascular-system poster did, however, include a small 'female pelvis' off to one side, and me and my female pelvis were grateful for small mercies. ~ Caroline Criado Perez
Honor System quotes by Caroline Criado Perez
Imagine if we had a food system that actually produced wholesome food. Imagine if it produced that food in a way that restored the land. Imagine if we could eat every meal knowing these few simple things: What it is we're eating. Where it came from. How it found its way to our table. And what it really cost. If that was the reality, then every meal would have the potential to be a perfect meal. We would not need to go hunting for our connection to our food and the web of life that produces it. We would no longer need any reminding that we eat by the grace of nature, not industry, and that what we're eating is never anything more or less than the body of the world. I don't want to have to forage every meal. Most people don't want to learn to garden or hunt. But we can change the way we make and get our food so that it becomes food again - something that feeds our bodies and our souls. Imagine it: Every meal would connect us to the joy of living and the wonder of nature. Every meal would be like saying grace. ~ Michael Pollan
Honor System quotes by Michael Pollan
We have taken the manatees out of the areas in the Caribbean and really elsewhere in the world, and this disruption to the system makes such systems vulnerable to changes as they come by, whether it's in terms of disease or terms or global warming for that matter. ~ Sylvia Earle
Honor System quotes by Sylvia Earle
Oh, you know what, it's an honor to be mentioned in the company of those that might lead our country forward after President Obama. ~ Martin O'Malley
Honor System quotes by Martin O'Malley
The fact is fossil fuel carbon will stay in the surface climate system for millennia. ~ James Hansen
Honor System quotes by James Hansen
More than a century of marinating in this stew of products, ads, and desire has transformed the way people see themselves and the world. Although lack of self-control has always plagued humanity, for the first time in history, an economic system has been created that relies on it. If people began suppressing their desires and consuming only what they needed, our economy would collapse. To prevent this, satisfying personal desires has become sacrosanct. ~ Skye Jethani
Honor System quotes by Skye Jethani
What we want to do is reform the welfare system in the way that Tony Blair talked about 13 years ago but never achieved - a system that was created for the days after the Second World War. That prize is now I think achievable. ~ Iain Duncan Smith
Honor System quotes by Iain Duncan Smith
Women are the primary resource of the planet. They give birth, we come from them. They are mothers, they are visionaries, they are the future. If we can figure out how to make women feel safe and honor women, it would be parallel or equal to honoring life itself. ~ Eve Ensler
Honor System quotes by Eve Ensler
The true measure of the justice of a system is the amount of protection it guarantees to the weakest. ~ Aung San Suu Kyi
Honor System quotes by Aung San Suu Kyi
for any non-biological system, the distribution of output follows a power law curve. ~ Anonymous
Honor System quotes by Anonymous
The parents, the society, the state, the church, the educational system, they all depend on lies. As the child is born they start trapping it into lies. And the child is helpless. He cannot escape his parents, he is utterly dependent. You can exploit his dependence ... and it has been exploited down the ages. ~ Rajneesh
Honor System quotes by Rajneesh
When you make machines that are capable of obeying instructions slavishly, and among those instructions are 'duplicate me' instructions, then of course the system is wide open to exploitation by parasites. ~ Richard Dawkins
Honor System quotes by Richard Dawkins
The difficulty of looking at a system like natural selection if you have any sort of moral sense yourself, is almost what makes it beautiful. ~ Paul Bettany
Honor System quotes by Paul Bettany
If you don't regard your word as a sacred covenant, then there is nothing in you I can honor ... ~ John Geddes
Honor System quotes by John Geddes
From an evolutionary standpoint you can't just wipe everything out and start over, and I don't think you can do it in the school system either. ~ Bill Nye
Honor System quotes by Bill Nye
We must learn to judge potential partners by the content of their character and the compatibility of temperament and life purpose, not by the chemical reaction of hormones and physical attraction, and not by the superficial value system of the European. ~ Nana Kwaku Opare
Honor System quotes by Nana Kwaku Opare
The most I can ever do is write things down. To remember them. The details. To honor them in some way. ~ Chuck Palahniuk
Honor System quotes by Chuck Palahniuk
Why do men want to kill the bodies of other men? Women don't want to kill the bodies of other women, by and large. As far as we know.
Here are some traditional reasons: Loot. Territory. Lust for power. Hormones. Adrenaline high. Rage. God. Flag. Honor. Righteous anger. Revenge. Oppression. Slavery. Starvation. Defense of one's life. Love; or, a desire to protect the women and children. From what? From the bodies of other men.
What men are most afraid of is not lions, not snakes, not the dark, not women. Not any more. What men are most afraid of is the body of another man.
Men's bodies are the most dangerous thing on earth. ~ Margaret Atwood
Honor System quotes by Margaret Atwood
Imagine a cell in your body, then your body relative to the planet. Imagine the planet in the solar system, our solar system in the universe. Now imagine that our universe is to something greater what a cell in our body is to our universe. There is so much that we cannot comprehend. ~ Aaron B. Powell
Honor System quotes by Aaron B. Powell
I think that there are cancers of the body, but I think they are what I would call cancer of the emotional system, too. These are the kind of diseases or illnesses or sicknesses of the emotional system that are as incurable as cancer. ~ Robert H. Schuller
Honor System quotes by Robert H. Schuller
I have made a similar suggestion for poetry: that one should approach it as pure sonority, reading and rereading it as a sort of music, and should not introduce meanings or intentions into the diction before clearly grasping the system of sounds that every poem must offer on pain of nonexistence. ~ Paul Valery
Honor System quotes by Paul Valery
What I think about derivatives is if every institution that owns or trades them is properly margined and marked to market, including end-users, including every institution, including sovereigns and multilateral institutions, then the system would be safe - if people were margined the way customers of investment banks are margined. ~ Paul Singer
Honor System quotes by Paul Singer
But we are pledged to set the world free. Our toil must be in silence, and our efforts all in secret. For in this enlightened age, when men believe not even what they see, the doubting of wise men would be his greatest strength. It would be at once his sheath and his armor, and his weapons to destroy us, his enemies, who are willing to peril even our own souls for the safety of one we love. For the good of mankind, and for the honor and glory of God. ~ Bram Stoker
Honor System quotes by Bram Stoker
What do you seek--God? you ask with a smile.

I hesitate to answer, since all other Americans have settled the matter for themselves and to give such an answer would amount to setting myself a goal which everyone else has reached--and therefore raising a question in which no one has the slightest interest. Who wants to be dead last among one hundred and eighty million Americans? For, as everyone knows, the polls report that 98% of Americans believe in God and the remaining 2% are atheists and agnostics--which leaves not a single percentage point for a seeker. For myself, I enjoy answering polls as much as anyone and take pleasure in giving intelligent replies to all questions.

Truthfully, it is the fear of exposing my own ignorance which constrains me from mentioning the object of my search. For, to begin with, I cannot even answer this, the simplest and most basic of all questions: Am I, in my search, a hundred miles ahead of my fellow Americans or a hundred miles behind them? That is to say: Have 98% of Americans already found what I seek or are they so sunk in everydayness that not even the possibility of a search has occurred to them?

On my honor, I do not know the answer. ~ Walker Percy
Honor System quotes by Walker Percy
When you sever ties with the unit purely for self-serving intentions, you are likely to find yourself stranded and struggling to survive; fighting to keep your head above water. What's more, there is no one to save you because you've turned your back on your comrades and snubbed your support system. ~ Carlos Wallace
Honor System quotes by Carlos Wallace
I wish I could take what I'm feeling right now and put it in the water system so everybody could drink it and we would all love each other. ~ Jamie Foxx
Honor System quotes by Jamie Foxx
A man is already of consequence in the world when it is known that we can implicitly rely upon him. Often I have known a man to be preferred in stations of honor and profit because he had this reputation: When he said he knew a thing, he knew it, and when he said he would do a thing, he did it. ~ Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton
Honor System quotes by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton
In fact, the only people he let anywhere near him were his family and her.
She wasn't quite certain she wanted to dissect the implications of that honor. ~ Kathryn Smith
