Relax. Cultivate your children's capabilities. Maximize their strengths. Do not handicap their unique skills by spending too much time on making them average in everything. Help them create their own style, and appreciate your children for who God created them to be. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
Curriculum companies provide more work than is needed. I never finished the complete curriculum when I taught in a classroom or at home. If your race is with your curriculum, learn to pick and choose what to use, and please do not attempt to cover it all or your race will be ongoing and you will be exhausted. Even races require pit stops to refuel. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
How do I find joy in my homeschool journey?
The answer is quite simple. I accept lots of God's grace. Grace to make mistakes. Grace to take a nap when I am exhausted. Grace to not feel guilty. Without His abundant provision of grace, I would be depleted, discouraged, and dissatisfied. Instead, I place all my trust in His direction and I embrace my calling as a homeschool mom. His grace has set me free from worry, fear, doubt, and guilt and I am overflowing with joy. Praise God! ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
For those of you who think that I have my life altogether, I definitely do not. Every season brings new challenges. For example, since I had my fifth child, I am notoriously 5-10 minutes late everywhere no matter how hard I try to be on time. I would like to say that I am "fashionably" late, but that isn't the truth either. Running in a mad dash in a parking lot (all holding hands of course) to make it somewhere 5 minutes late (instead of 6 minutes cause that makes a big difference) while one child is missing shoes and my hair is going in every direction. Yep, that is my family. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver

Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
George dutifully dusted the marks from the expensive rug and retired to the kitchen to await a grave and disapproving Collins, wishing with all of his boyish heart that he had applied for the stables. Cleaning stalls had to be beneficial exercise, and surely one must become accustomed to the smells...eventually. ~ Sarah Brazytis
Homeschool Authors quotes by Sarah Brazytis
Many people ask what they should do in their quiet time. Find a time early in your day when there are no distractions, which includes children, television, radio, or anything else that may take your focus off what you are doing. Pray for concerns on your heart and thank God for your blessings. Read God's Word and look for meaning in the scriptures and how to apply them to your life. You and your children will be blessed when you seek the Lord daily. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
By fulfilling our divinely appointed jobs as parents, we can be God's tools that define and refine our children as they are sculpted into the individuals that He wants them to be. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver

The Truth: Doing it all is a misconception the enemy wants mothers to believe. Learn how to fully embrace the beauty of each season of your life. It is a gift from God. God's Word: Colossians 3:23-24-'Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.' Take a deep breath busy mom. You are doing a great job! ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
God has a plan for you (Jer. 29:11) and you will make it through this time of testing. Keep on believing and moving forward and you will see Him working out the details. God is never early or late but His timing is always perfect. You will see, I promise. ~ Tamara L. Chilver

Make Learning Magical ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
The times I am most frustrated in homeschooling is when I become focused more on my plans than His plans. I must spend more time daily looking up for his divine direction than I do looking down at my lesson plans. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
It isn't my teaching credentials that qualify me to teach my child. It is my God who qualifies me. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
Parents naturally want their children to excel in every area of academics and extra-curricular activities, but the reality is- God made each child differently for His purpose. He never intended for our children to excel in everything. ~ Tamara L. Chilver
Homeschool Authors quotes by Tamara L. Chilver
There are a million ways to create. It's not always typing words, painting pictures, or acting in a play. And you don't get to decide which is correct. ~ Brandt Legg
Homeschool Authors quotes by Brandt Legg
Know what you're working toward and eliminate debt, so that if you change your mind later it doesn't kill you to know you have a hundred thousand dollar biology degree hanging in the kitchen of the tapas restaurant you just opened. ~ Brian Huskie
Homeschool Authors quotes by Brian Huskie
People should be interested in books, not their authors. ~ Agatha Christie
Homeschool Authors quotes by Agatha Christie
People really want to set up these rivalries because there's a lot of vampire books out there. People want to believe we're all fierce rivals, and really there's just so much camaraderie with authors. Everyone kind of boosts each other. ~ Richelle Mead

But it did her good, for those whose opinion had real value gave her the criticism which is an author's best education; and when the first soreness was over, she could laugh at her poor little book, yet believe in it still, and feel herself the wiser and stronger for the buffeting she had received. ~ Louisa May Alcott

Homeschool Authors quotes by Ramsey Campbell
In TIME June 7, 2010
On the sustainability of the publishing industry, in the Chicago Tribune:
"I think that book publishing is about to slide into the sea. We live in a literate time, and our children are writing up a storm, often combining letters and numbers ... The future of publishing: 18 million authors in America, each with an average of 14 readers, eight of whom are blood relatives. Average annual earnings: $175." - 5/26/10 ~ Garrison Keillor
Homeschool Authors quotes by Garrison Keillor
Encouraged by this to a further examination of his opinions, she proceeded to question him on the subject of books; her favourite authors were brought forward and dwelt upon with so rapturous a delight, that any young man of five-and-twenty must have been insensible indeed, not to become an immediate convert to the excellence of such works, however disregarded before. Their taste was strikingly alike. The same books, the same passages were idolized by each
or, if any difference appeared, any objection arose, it lasted no longer than till the force of her arguments and the brightness of her eyes could be displayed. He acquiesced in all her decisions, caught all her enthusiasm, and long before his visit concluded, they conversed with the familiarity of a long-established acquaintance. ~ Jane Austen
Homeschool Authors quotes by Jane Austen
And there you sit, atop the smoking mountain of rubble that was once your home, covered in gray dust, cradling the mangled corpse of your little girl in your arms, looking south to a Mexican people who, in solidarity with you, have stopped riding Uber. ~ Brian Huskie
Homeschool Authors quotes by Brian Huskie
Composers, like authors, have a lot in common. Our main goal is to connect with the listener emotionally. ~ Ken Hill
Homeschool Authors quotes by Ken Hill
- 'twould almost damn those ears; The author's meaning is this: - That some people are thought wise whilst they keep silence; who, when they open their mouths, are such stupid praters, that the hearers cannot help calling them fools, and so incur the judgment denounced in the Gospel. - THEOBALD. ~ William Shakespeare
Homeschool Authors quotes by William Shakespeare

To start by opening a new book??

With one new book which has a story which you haven't heard??
Probably, you aren't still ready! ~ Deyth Banger
Homeschool Authors quotes by Deyth Banger
You don't expect me to know what to say about a play when I don't know who the author is, do you? ... If it's by a good author, it's a good play, naturally. That stands to reason. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Homeschool Authors quotes by George Bernard Shaw
I always thought it would be really, really cool to play Edgar Allan Poe, because when I was a kid, he was one of the authors who really blew my mind open to all sorts of weird dark and twisted places. ~ Ezra Miller
Homeschool Authors quotes by Ezra Miller
As authors evolve and try to trace the precedents that have shaped their work, it sometimes becomes a matter of identifying the shadowy figure in the back row of the mental photograph, or of grabbing at the tail of a memory that's just slipping out the window into thin air. ~ Virginia Euwer Wolff
Homeschool Authors quotes by Virginia Euwer Wolff
Truth is the aim of story. And though we must take into account the human author's subjectivity and personal slant, the best authors are those who tap universal longings and make connections to our real, lived humanity. ~ Sarah Arthur
Homeschool Authors quotes by Sarah Arthur
When I started reading the literature of molecular biology, I was stunned by certain descriptions. Admittedly, I was on the lookout for anything unusual, as my investigation had led me to consider that DNA and its cellular machinery truly were an extremely sophisticated technology of cosmic origin. But as I pored over thousands of pages of biological texts, I discovered a world of science fiction that seemed to confirm my hypothesis. Proteins and enzymes were described as 'miniature robots,' ribosomes were 'molecular computers,' cells were 'factories,' DNA itself was a 'text,' a 'program,' a 'language,' or 'data.' One only had to do a literal reading of contemporary biology to reach shattering conclusions; yet most authors display a total lack of astonishment and seem to consider that life is merely 'a normal physiochemical phenomenon. ~ Jeremy Narby
Homeschool Authors quotes by Jeremy Narby
Try to meet as many authors, agents, and editors as you can. ~ Walter Jon Williams
Homeschool Authors quotes by Walter Jon Williams
We get out of life what we bring to it. There is not a dream which may not come true if we have the energy which determines our own fate. We can always get what we want if we will it intensely enough... So few people succeed greatly because so few people conceive a great end, working towards it without giving up. We all know that the man who works steadily for money gets rich; the man who works day and night for fame or power reaches his goal. And those who work deeper, more spiritual achievements will find them too. It may come when we no longer have any use of it, but if we have been willing it long enough, it will come! ~ Ruskin Bond
Homeschool Authors quotes by Ruskin Bond
Neither nature, experience, nor probability informs these lists of 'entitlements', which are subject to no constraints except those of the mind and appetite of their authors. ~ Jeane Kirkpatrick
Homeschool Authors quotes by Jeane Kirkpatrick
Is not a critic," asks Professor Stoll, "... a judge, who does not explore his own consciousness, but determines the author's meaning or intention, as if the poem were a will, a contract, or the constitution? ~ William K. Wimsatt
Homeschool Authors quotes by William K. Wimsatt
We really learn only from those books that we cannot judge. The author of a book that we were able to judge would have to learn from us. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Homeschool Authors quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
The single characteristic that most makes a difference in the success of an article or nonfiction book is the author's courage in revealing normally unspoken things about himself or his society. It takes guts to be a writer ~ Sol Stein
Homeschool Authors quotes by Sol Stein
Just look what happens to poets," I used to tell my honors class on the first day of school. "Half the time they go mad. And you know why I think that happens? Too much truth distilled to its essence, all surrounding evidence ignored or discarded. And I'm not faulting them for that. ~ Steve Yarbrough
Homeschool Authors quotes by Steve Yarbrough
An outstanding addition to the volumes written on value investing. Not only do the authors offer their own valuable insights but they have provided in one publication invaluable insights from some of the most accomplished professionals in the investment business. I would call this publication a must-read for any serious investor. ~ Leon G. Cooperman
Homeschool Authors quotes by Leon G. Cooperman
[The writer] can easily foresee his fate ... in an age when an author who wants to have readers must take care to write in such a way that the book can easily be perused during an afternoon nap ... ~ Soren Kierkegaard
Homeschool Authors quotes by Soren Kierkegaard
It is an author's most solemn obligation to honor truth. If the free and independent writer does not speak truth to power, who will? ~ Edward Abbey
Homeschool Authors quotes by Edward Abbey
Technically, web browsers can control what users see, and sites using Javascript can overwrite anything coming from the original authors. Browsers heavily utilize Javascript to create an interactive Internet; sites like YouTube, Facebook, and Gmail could be crippled without it. ~ Ben Shapiro

Before publishers' blurbs were invented, authors had to make their reputations by writing. ~ Laurence J. Peter
Homeschool Authors quotes by Laurence J. Peter
What's the matter?" asked the teacher, seeing her bewildered fact.

"Why - why," said Elizabeth Ann, "I don't know what I am at all. If I'm second-grade arithmetic and seventh-grade reading and third-grade spelling, what grade am I?"

The teacher laughed at the turn of her phrase. "you aren't any grade at all, no matter where you are in school. You're just yourself, aren't you? What difference does it make what grade you're in! And what's the use of your reading little baby things too easy for you just because you don't know your multiplication table? ~ Dorothy Canfield
Homeschool Authors quotes by Dorothy Canfield
My own experience is that once a story has been written, one has to cross out the beginning and the end. It is there that we authors do most of our lying. ~ Anton Chekhov
Homeschool Authors quotes by Anton Chekhov
The fortunate people in the world - the only really fortunate people in the world, in my mind - are those whose work is also their pleasure. The class is not a large one, not nearly so large as it is often represented to be; and authors are perhaps the most important elements in its composition.(Churchill) ~ Jane Davis
Homeschool Authors quotes by Jane Davis
The irony of rule followers is they often quote a lot of people that do not follow as many rules as they do. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Homeschool Authors quotes by Shannon L. Alder
To be honest, I came here for a quote for a eulogy and was dismayed that every free spirit quote was by one person spamming and not from published authors. Very unfortunate. ~ Nikki Rowe
Homeschool Authors quotes by Nikki Rowe
England is seen at its worst when it has to deal with men like Wilde. In Germany Wilde and Byron are appreciated as authors: in England they still go pecking about their love-affairs. Anyone who calls a book 'immoral' or 'moral' should be caned. A book by itself can be neither. It is only a question of the morality or immorality of the reader. But the English approach all questions of vice with such a curious mixture of curiosity and fear that it's impossible to deal with them. ~ Charles Hamilton Sorley
Homeschool Authors quotes by Charles Hamilton Sorley
I am one of those authors who consider it their highest honour and their highest liberty to have a completely untrammelled chance of using their pens to serve the working people. ~ Mikhail Sholokhov
Homeschool Authors quotes by Mikhail Sholokhov
