Or if this did not help, one stormy night I would let the fire approach the buckling wooden walls and let it ravage everything, so that people might no longer be enticed to dwell in this home of misfortune. Then no one would be able to enter this doomed place, only the church steeple's black jackdaws would found a colony in the large chimney, rising, blackened and eerie, over the desolate ground.
Yet I would surely be anxious when I saw the flames intertwined over the roof, when thick smoke, reddened by the firelight and interspersed with sparks, poured forth out of the old count's estate. In the crackling and sighing I would think I heard the lament of homeless people; at the blue tips of the flames I would think I saw disturbed phantasms hovering. I would think about how sorrow beautifies, how misfortune adorns, and weep, as if a temple to old gods had been doomed to disintegration. ~ Selma Lagerlof
Homeless People quotes by Selma Lagerlof
These things become the norm: that some homeless people die of cold on the streets is not news. In contrast, a ten point drop on the stock markets of some cities, is a tragedy. A person dying is not news, but if the stock markets drop ten points it is a tragedy! Thus people are disposed of, as if they were trash. ~ Pope Francis
Homeless People quotes by Pope Francis
This kind of telescopic compassion is not an uncommon phenomenon, and has a close relative in the kindness one sees displayed toward pampered urban household pets, even as, a stones throw away, homeless people sleep on benches. ~ Sally Mann
Homeless People quotes by Sally Mann
Older homeless people are more likely to be women, because they don't have pensions and they are caretakers, so they withdraw from the workforce and end up having no pension if their husband leaves them, so the whole thing is just a nightmare. ~ Patricia Arquette
Homeless People quotes by Patricia Arquette
His body had become a companion which seemed always about to leave him: it had its own pains which moved him to pity, and its own particular movements which he tried hard to follow. He had learned from it how to keep his eyes down on the road, so that he could see no one, and how important it was never to look back - although there were times when memories of an earlier life filled him with grief and he lay face down upon the grass until the sweet rank odour of the earth brought him to his senses. But slowly he forgot where it was he had come from, and what it was he was escaping. ~ Peter Ackroyd
Homeless People quotes by Peter Ackroyd
Homeless people bear God's image too. ~ Philip Yancey
Homeless People quotes by Philip Yancey
You're taking the bus around Burbank?" Lester said. "Christ, Perry, this is Los Angeles. Even homeless people drive cars. ~ Cory Doctorow
Homeless People quotes by Cory Doctorow
The work my mum does, a lot of it is re-housing homeless people, that's a real job. I play make-believe and dressing up for a living! ~ Jeremy Irvine
Homeless People quotes by Jeremy Irvine
There was a lot of angst about it. It was sort of viewed as, These folks don't know what they're talking about. If losses go to ten percent there will be, like, a million homeless people." (Losses in the pools Hubler's group had bet on would eventually reach 40 percent.) As a senior Morgan Stanley executive outside Hubler's group put it, "They didn't want to show you the results. They kept saying, That state of the world can't happen." It ~ Michael Lewis
Homeless People quotes by Michael Lewis
We all hate something from our past, Cal. That's why we run from it, or compensate for it, or even fill our van with homeless people. But when something like this happens-when your dad shows up-maybe there is a bigger purpose. 'What you intended for evil, God intended for good.' Genesis 50:20 ~ Brad Meltzer
Homeless People quotes by Brad Meltzer
Forty-five years, these people were provided for. Not with much, you understand, but there weren't beggars in the streets or homeless people. Now everyone must figure out a new way to make a living. Selling hats or popcorn or flowers or coffee, there's not much difference. They're scared. ~ Annie Ward
Homeless People quotes by Annie Ward
dealing with drunks and hypes and homeless people who've got one foot in reality and the other in the Twilight Zone, you get used to seeing big changes in people, and usually not changes for the better. You teach yourself to see who's under the new bruises and the fresh coats of dirt. ~ Stephen King
Homeless People quotes by Stephen King
When people of color are killed in the inner city, when homeless people are killed, when the "nobodies" are killed, district attorneys do not seek to avenge their deaths. Black, Hispanic, or poor families who have a loved one murdered not only don't expect the district attorney's office to pursue the death penalty -which, of course, is both costly and time consuming- but are surprised when the case is prosecuted at all. ~ Helen Prejean
Homeless People quotes by Helen Prejean
Was this for real? Andrew had forgotten how to be happy! He suspected that it involved unwarranted feelings of fondness for other people, too much self-esteem, a sort of long-term delusion that manifested as charisma, and a blocking out of certain things, like lonely people, depressed people, desperate people, homeless people, people you've hurt, people you like who don't like you, politics, the nature of being and existence, the continent of Africa, the meat industry, McDonald's, MTV, Hollywood, and most or all of human history, especially anything having to do with the Western Hemisphere between 1400 and 1900, plus or minus 200 years
but he wasn't sure. Why did it involve so many things? Maybe it was just too hard. ~ Tao Lin
Homeless People quotes by Tao Lin
In America, even the homeless were profligate. Back in Toronto, after a big bank dinner, Brad would gather the leftovers into covered tin trays and carry them out to a homeless guy he saw every day on his way to work. The guy was always appreciative. When the bank moved him to New York, he saw more homeless people in a day than he saw back home in a year. When no one was watching, he'd pack up the king's banquet of untouched leftovers after the NY lunches and walk it down to the people on the streets. "They just looked at me like, 'What the fuck is this guy doing?'" he said. "I stopped doing it because it didn't feel like anyone gave a shit. ~ Michael Lewis
Homeless People quotes by Michael Lewis
Kids? It's like living with homeless people. They're cute but they just chase you around all day long going, 'Can I have a dollar? I'm missing a shoe! I need a ride! ~ Kathleen Madigan
Homeless People quotes by Kathleen Madigan
The most compassionate and peaceful thing you can do for yourself and others is to let go of the past, let go of the anger, let go of trying to hurt people that wronged you. There are thousands of people dying from cancer that wish they had someone to care about them and be with them during their final days. There are children being sold into sex trafficking and are hoping someone would rescue them. There are homeless people that wish they had something warm to wear or eat. There is an entire species being wiped out because not enough people care about our oceans. Today, remember that there is someone praying for the very things you take for granted. Spend your effort where God needs you to be
on the front lines of the war on earth, not on the battlefields of the past. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Homeless People quotes by Shannon L. Alder
Poverty is not dated. Homeless people have looked the same since the thirteenth century. Go back to the times of Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky. Look at photographs. It's amazing. The face on a homeless person is timeless. ~ Dustin Hoffman
Homeless People quotes by Dustin Hoffman
There were some places, and streets, where he did not venture since he had learnt that others had claims there greater than his own - not the gangs of meths drinkers who lived in no place and no time, nor the growing number of the young who moved on restlessly across the face of the city, but vagrants like himself who, despite the name which the world has given them, had ceased to wander and now associated themselves with one territory or 'province' rather than another. All of them led solitary lives, hardly moving from their own warren of streets and buildings: it is not known whether they chose the area, or whether the area itself had callen them and taken them in, but they had become the guardian spirits (as it were) of each place. Ned now knew some of their names: Watercress Joe, who haunted the streets by St Mary Woolnoth, Black Sam who lived and slept beside the Commercial Road between Whitechapel and Limehouse, Harry the Goblin who was seen only by Spitalfields and Artillery Lane, Mad Frank who walked continually through the streets of Bloomsbury, Italian Audrey who was always to be found in the dockside area of Wapping (it was she who had visited Ned in his shelter many years before), and 'Alligator' who never moved from Greenwich. ~ Peter Ackroyd
Homeless People quotes by Peter Ackroyd
They [homeless people] are constructed ideologically to be oppressed to the level of losing their humanity. It is not by chance it is a design. ~ Bruno De Oliveira
Homeless People quotes by Bruno De Oliveira
Well, I've thought about donating, but they get so many damn donations already. I read about one foundation that raised over 100 million dollars. Well where the hell did that go? For all I know every starving child has a 2 story house by now. Or maybe they're all raging alcoholics, like homeless people. Homeless people who are more effective when it comes to raising money. Who wants to support alcoholic children? Not me. ~ Zach Braff
Homeless People quotes by Zach Braff
All these people talking about morality should just take a walk downtown. They don't want to go downtown because instantly they see homeless people and they don't want to. ~ Neil Young
Homeless People quotes by Neil Young
Homeless people really upset me when I was little. A lot of kids have this reaction, but I would get really worried or sad or concerned or cry. ~ Paul Dano
Homeless People quotes by Paul Dano
I will never again look at the homeless people the way I did before entering Bowery Mission. ~ Stevan V. Nikolic
Homeless People quotes by Stevan V. Nikolic
A homeless man with a dog approached us and put his hand out. This happens to be something I have a real problem with: homeless people with pets who approach you for food. How can they have the nerve to beg for food when they have a perfectly delicious dog standing right there? I didn't care if this guy understood English or not. Tell me when you're out of dog, buddy. Then we can talk about splitting a falafel. ~ Chelsea Handler
Homeless People quotes by Chelsea Handler
But why is it that if you imagine a baby who smells of milk, for example, you can't help smiling? Why is there such an agreement around the world about what is or isn't a foul smell? Who decided what smells bad? Is it impossible that somewhere in this world there are people who, if they sat next to a homeless fellow they'd get the urge to snuggle up to him, but if they sat next to a baby they'd get an urge to kill it? ~ Ryu Murakami
Homeless People quotes by Ryu Murakami
It's not that I'm afraid of homeless people any more than non-homeless people. I'm afraid of something much more complicated. I look at them and think, "Is that my future? ~ Jenny Lawson
Homeless People quotes by Jenny Lawson
From paying off friends' tax bills to rescuing stray dogs and stuffing £20 notes into the hands of homeless people, I can't get rid of my money fast enough. ~ Julie Burchill
Homeless People quotes by Julie Burchill
Bricks could be used to feed the homeless. But why not use those bricks to build the homeless people homes? Oh yeah, because that's not the sort of smart decision DC makes. ~ Jarod Kintz
Homeless People quotes by Jarod Kintz
This is the best of times and the worst of times. So what else is new? The bad news is that the Martians have landed in Manhattan, and have checked in at the Waldorf-Astoria. The good news is that they only eat homeless people of all colors, and they pee gasoline. ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Homeless People quotes by Kurt Vonnegut
Then a homeless man with a dog approached us and put his hand out. This happens to be something that I have a real problem with: homeless people with pets who approach you for food when they have a perfectly delicious dog standing right there? ~ Chelsea Handler
Homeless People quotes by Chelsea Handler
The next thing Jordana says makes me realize that it's too late to save her.
"I've noticed that when you light a match, the flame is the same shape as a falling tear."
She's been sensitized, turned gooey in the middle. I saw it happening and I didn't do anything to stop it. From now on, she'll be writing diaries and sometimes including little poems and she'll buy gifts for her favourite teachers and she'll admire the scenery and she'll watch the news and she'll buy soup for homeless people and she'll never burn my leg hair again. ~ Joe Dunthorne
Homeless People quotes by Joe Dunthorne
For our law has in it a turn of humour or touch of fancy which Nero and Herod never happened to think of; that of actually punishing homeless people for not sleeping at home. ~ G.K. Chesterton
Homeless People quotes by G.K. Chesterton
He changed his final wad up at the train station. Which was a sad place now. There were homeless people and disturbed people hanging around. There were furtive men with swivel eyes, their hands thrust deep in capacious pockets. There was spray-can graffiti on the walls. Nothing compared to the South Bronx or inner-city Detroit or South-Central LA. But unusual for Germany. Reunification had been a strain. Economically, and socially. And mentally. He had watched it. Like living a comfortable life in a nice little house with your family. And then a whole bunch of relatives moves in. From someplace where they don't really know how to use a knife and fork. Ignorant and stunted people. But German like you. As if a brother had been taken away at birth and locked in a closet. Then in his mid-forties he comes stumbling out again, pale and hunched and blinking. A tough situation to manage. He ~ Lee Child
Homeless People quotes by Lee Child
I spent a lot of time at the New York Public Library, the main branch. I was one of those people. If you ever spend a good amount of time there, you realize there are people who spend the entire day there. They're bookish homeless people. ~ Lisa Yuskavage
Homeless People quotes by Lisa Yuskavage
For the mentally disturbed, Marie knew these sandwich visits might be the only dependable moments in their lives. She also knew she delivered the sandwiches for her own sanity. Something would crumble inside of her if she ever walked by a homeless person and pretended not to notice. Or simply didn't care. In a way, she believed that homeless people were treated as Indians had always been treated. Badly. The homeless were like an Indian tribe, nomadic and powerless, just filled with more than any tribe's share of crazy people and cripples. So, a homeless Indian belonged to two tribes, and was the lowest form of life in the city. The powerful white men of Seattle had created a law that made it illegal to sit on the sidewalk. That ordinance was crazier and much more evil than any homeless person. Sometimes Marie wondered if she worked so hard at anything only because she hated powerful white men. She wondered if she went to college and received good grades just because she was looking for revenge. ~ Sherman Alexie
Homeless People quotes by Sherman Alexie
Nowadays they hate for nothin'. You ain't even gotta have nothin'. They hatin' on homeless people and shit. Like, "How he get him another plate? Aw man, hell naw. Fuck that homeless nigga." 2Pac told you muhfuckas will hate you for whatever you do, good or bad. No matter what. So you might as well get used to it. ~ Calvin Stovall
Homeless People quotes by Calvin Stovall
As Elizabeth Blackmar and Ray Rosenzweig wrote in their magisterial history of [Central Park in NYC]: 'The issue of demoncratic access to the park has also been raised by the increasing number of homeless New Yorkers. Poor people
from the 'squatters' of the 1850s to the 'tramps' of the 1870s and 1890s to the Hooverville residents of the 1930s
have always turned to the park land for shelter ... The growing visibility of homeless people in Central Park osed in the starkest terms the contradiction between Americans' commitment to democratic space and their acquiescence in vast disparities of wealth and power. ~ Rebecca Solnit
Homeless People quotes by Rebecca Solnit
A homeless person should know that many souls feel utterly homeless in spite of living into the bodies of wealthy homeowners ~ Munia Khan
Homeless People quotes by Munia Khan
When you're dead probably not even homeless people and retarded people will want to trade you places. ~ Chuck Palahniuk
Homeless People quotes by Chuck Palahniuk
My main concern while in New York wasn't becoming a hot shot. I was more concerned with staying alive, and that took all the pleasure out of the experience. I didn't know where to find a grocery store so I subsisted on hot dogs, peanuts and whatever else I could buy from a street vendor. I didn't know how to hail a cab (apparently there's an art to it). I stood on the edge of the sidewalk and waved my arms around but no one stopped, so I limited my entire universe to however far I could walk and I never walked too far because I was afraid I'd get lost and never find my way back home again. Perhaps that's why there are so many homeless people in New York; maybe they're not really lost, maybe some of them have homes but they just don't know how to get there. ~ Marlin Bressi
Homeless People quotes by Marlin Bressi
Watching snowing would be much greater if there were no homeless people! Man can never be fully happy and comfortable till all men become happy and comfortable! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Homeless People quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
The killer simply picked any one of the men in gray suits and followed them from office building to cash machine, from lunchtime restaurant back to office building. Those gray suits were not happy, yet showed their unhappiness only during moments of weakness. Punching the buttons of a cash machine that refused to work. Yelling at a taxi that had come too close. Insulting the homeless people who begged for spare change. But the killer also saw the more subtle signs of unhappiness. A slight limp in uncomfortable shoes. Eyes closed, head thrown back while waiting for the traffic signal. The slight hesitation before opening a door. The men in gray suits wanted to escape, but their hatred and anger trapped them. ~ Sherman Alexie
Homeless People quotes by Sherman Alexie
The Key to overcoming the challenges in life is to make up your mind to overcome the Challenge ~ Carlton Young
Homeless People quotes by Carlton Young
My cousin Jerry Lucey and five other firefighters died in a warehouse fire in Worcester, Mass. - my hometown - right in the middle of our old neighborhood downtown when a homeless couple started a fire to keep warm and the entire building went up. My cousin died trying to save homeless people who had already left the building. ~ Denis Leary
Homeless People quotes by Denis Leary
Sometimes it's moments like that, real complicated moments, absorbing moments, that make you realize that even hard times have things in them that make you feel alive. And then there's music, and girls, and drugs, and homeless people who've read Pauline Kael, and wah-wah pedals, and English potato chip flavors, and I haven't even read Martin Chuzzlewit yet ... There's plenty out there. ~ Nick Hornby
Homeless People quotes by Nick Hornby
I don't know what's worse by number in America, the vacant houses standing, or the homeless people falling into them. ~ Anthony Liccione
Homeless People quotes by Anthony Liccione
The people from the suburbs are bringing along their suburban values: cleanliness, orderliness, safety - dullness, in other words. As a result, urban areas are being hollowed out. Just look at Times Square in New York. No more sex shops, no drugs, no homeless people. The area is clinically clean and incredibly dull. ~ Rem Koolhaas
Homeless People quotes by Rem Koolhaas
Well it's not that I HATE them, but honestly if I saw two homeless people begging for money, one white and one black, and I only had one quarter ... Well I'd probably keep it actually. ~ Zach Braff
Homeless People quotes by Zach Braff
It is not necessary to advertise food to hungry people, fuel to cold people, or houses to the homeless. ~ John Kenneth Galbraith
Homeless People quotes by John Kenneth Galbraith
You can spend the money on new housing for poor people and the homeless, or you can spend it on a football stadium or a golf course. ~ Jello Biafra
Homeless People quotes by Jello Biafra
You used to be able to tell the difference between hipsters and homeless people. Now, it's between hipsters and retards. I mean, either that guy in the corner in orange safety pants holding a protest sign and wearing a top hat is mentally disabled or he is the coolest fucking guy you will ever know. ~ Chuck Klosterman
Homeless People quotes by Chuck Klosterman
These days many politicians are demanding change. Just like homeless people. ~ George Carlin
Homeless People quotes by George Carlin
For me, I grew up in a house doing charity work for homeless people, and my parents had a lot of homeless friends. We were always taught to not discriminate and not judge. ~ Shenae Grimes
Homeless People quotes by Shenae Grimes
I've never seen anyone handling pans in the streets of New York, and if I did I doubt I'd give them money, unless I needed a pan. I do give money to homeless people, whether they ask or no. ~ Hamish Linklater
Homeless People quotes by Hamish Linklater
I first moved to Denver to work with a group called YWAM, 'Youth With a Mission.' I was a kid - I was 18 - and did some work with homeless people. Really, trying to convert people is sort of an awful position to find yourself in, so I quickly, on my own, grew out of religious ideas. ~ Nathaniel Rateliff
Homeless People quotes by Nathaniel Rateliff
Society inures us to acts of immorality and decadence. We passively accept violence and exploitation as part of the cultural normative. When the Wall Street Kings crashed their money mobile, Congress was quick to pass bailout bills. How many of these same Congressmen and Wall Street millionaires do you think ever reached into their pocket to buy a homeless person a sandwich? ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Homeless People quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
I always give homeless people money, and my friends yell at me, 'He's only going to buy more alcohol and cigarettes.' And I'm thinking, 'Oh, like I wasn't?' ~ Kathleen Madigan
Homeless People quotes by Kathleen Madigan
My daughter, dad where do homeless people come from? My answer, everywhere. ~ Ray Price
Homeless People quotes by Ray Price
A random group of homeless people under a bridge would be far more intellectually sound and principled than anything I've encountered at the university so far. ~ Ward Churchill
Homeless People quotes by Ward Churchill
What would it hurt for me to give that homeless guy a couple bucks? Who the hell cares if he spends it on beer? Maybe beer is a step up for him from the harder stuff that knocked him onto the streets in the first place. Maybe, just maybe, he's actually going to spend it on food (homeless people do eat, right?). Maybe, he really is a desperate human being who is trying to change his situation. ~ Dan Pearce
Homeless People quotes by Dan Pearce
Homelessness in the context of austerity-led welfare reforms involves more than concepts of accommodation and pathways in or out of homelessness. Seen in this way, a homeless person in the contemporary political climate can be understood through reference to the concept of the "Homo Sacer" (the "accused man") in Roman law. Homo Sacer is a person who is banned from Roman society and may be killed by Roman citizens and slaves, but may not be sacrificed in a religious ritual having been deemed impure for such ends. Therefore, one may argue that homeless people in the context of austerity politics are comparable to the Homo Sacer – i.e. a group who are punished by political practices and silenced from the political arena. ~ Bruno De Oliveira
Homeless People quotes by Bruno De Oliveira
When I was going through my chemotherapy, I realized not many people are willing to talk about cancer, even after getting fully cured. Celebrities and educated people are also very protective and private about it. I still haven't understood why. I decided to fight my battle out in the public. ~ Yuvraj Singh
Homeless People quotes by Yuvraj Singh
If the people use the wealth bestowed on them by God for themselves alone or for treasuring it, it is like a corpse. But if they decide to share it with others, it becomes sacred food. ~ Guru Nanak
Homeless People quotes by Guru Nanak
Take a few minutes and come up with a personal list of what's most important to you. Consider the following: People like family, friends, role models, and mentors (animals count too) Places you've been and loved Places you dream of visiting Activities you love to do and look forward to Beliefs about what is good in life Moments that you've most treasured Values about how the world should be Goals, both for personal achievement and making the world a better place Now take this list and circle four or five items that mean the most to you in terms of giving you a feeling that your life has been and ~ Julian D. Ford
Homeless People quotes by Julian D. Ford
People should always have something which they prefer to life. ~ Johann G. Seume
Homeless People quotes by Johann G. Seume
I don't think I'm unusual in that, in my 20s, like many people, I felt invincible. ~ Amanda Lindhout
Homeless People quotes by Amanda Lindhout
Humans are insane. We kill our own people, starve our own people, sell them, work them to death, beat them, don't give them affordable/free/good healthcare, and let them live in misery, while a few of us have - we have all we want. We are evil. ~ Faith Hunter
Homeless People quotes by Faith Hunter
Someone has said that enemies are just people whose stories we don't know. I see a lot of truth in that. The more other people's stories are hidden from us, the easier it is for us to view them as enemies. But, when we begin to learn their stories, we recognize all we share in common with them and we delight in how the unique beauty of their traditions enriches our own lives. ~ Joe Hayes
Homeless People quotes by Joe Hayes
People assume that I'm very highly trained, that I studied and did years and years of Shakespeare. I have no training whatsoever and I've only done one Shakespeare play at university. If people want to believe that, I'm happy to go along with it. ~ Hugh Laurie
Homeless People quotes by Hugh Laurie
People often say that stress is a motivator. What we're referring to when we say this is really better described as stimulation and engagement. ~ Andrew J. Bernstein
Homeless People quotes by Andrew J. Bernstein
I've always found when I was captain when other people were doing the talking for me, I didn't need to say as much, and when I did say one or two things, people tended to listen all the more. ~ Brian O'Driscoll
Homeless People quotes by Brian O'Driscoll
Learning and performance will become one and the same thing. Everything you say about learning will be about performance. People will get the point that learning is everything. ~ Peter Block
Homeless People quotes by Peter Block
The virtual community? The word virtual does not mean "virtue." It means "not." When I go to the store and they say: The shirt that you brought in is virtually done. It means it is not done, in the same way that the virtual community is not a community. There is no commitment there. When you log off, you are not a member of it anymore. My flesh and blood community, the sense of knowing my neighbor, knowing the guy across the street, having dinner with the people down the block, getting along with each other and making compromises, that's a genuine community with a commitment. ~ Clifford Stoll
Homeless People quotes by Clifford Stoll
You are all zombie thigh-fat people brought into reanimation by some evil force of forceful evil! ~ Jhonen Vasquez
Homeless People quotes by Jhonen Vasquez
It's impossible to change the management system without changing the managers who built it. The management is the product of people who created it. ~ Yegor Bugayenko
Homeless People quotes by Yegor Bugayenko
the sense of shame I feel about an incident is proportionate not just to the gravity of the situation, but also to the number of people who witnessed it. At ~ Paula Hawkins
Homeless People quotes by Paula Hawkins
Snobs are people who look down on other people, but that does not justify our looking down on them. Who can say what dark fears of being inferior lurk behind their superior airs or what they suffer in private for the slights they dish out in public? ~ Frederick Buechner
Homeless People quotes by Frederick Buechner
To educate people for peace, we can use words or we can speak with our lives. ~ Nhat Hanh
Homeless People quotes by Nhat Hanh
Some people are born with a hole inside them. They spend their lives trying to fill it. Sometimes it's pills, sometimes it's Jesus. ~ Karin Slaughter
Homeless People quotes by Karin Slaughter
Horses and jockeys mature earlier than people - which is why horses are admitted to racetracks at the age of two, and jockeys before they are old enough to shave. ~ Dick Beddoes
Homeless People quotes by Dick Beddoes
All I'm saying is that I don't want to sort of fall in love with fifty different people. I'd rather find one person and fall completely, deeply in over my head. ~ Anna White
Homeless People quotes by Anna White
There's a tree that grows in Brooklyn. Some people call it the Tree of Heaven. No matter where its seed falls, it makes a tree which struggles to reach the sky. It grows in boarded-up lots and out of neglected rubbish heaps. It grows up out of cellar gratings. It is the only tree that grows out of cement. It grows lushly ... survives without sun, water, and seemingly without earth. It would be considered beautiful except that there are too many of it. ~ Betty Smith
Homeless People quotes by Betty Smith
Delhi is excellent. Everything looks so beautiful. In Bombay, we don't have such beautiful roads, spacious places, and you cannot have the luxury of having houses and bungalows. You have to live in little pokey flats and cost of living is extremely high in Mumbai. Delhi has a lot that people keep preserving ... a lot of which is what Delhi is about. ~ Bipasha Basu
Homeless People quotes by Bipasha Basu
We go to the mountain for enlightenment, for self-realization, for adventure, for discovery. It's pregnant with meaning. When people see a mountain, they invest it with meaning. Not plot. Not character. ~ Joe Rohde
Homeless People quotes by Joe Rohde
Nobody dies from lack of sex. It's lack of love we die from. There's nobody here I can love, all the people I could love are dead or elsewhere. Who knows where they are or what their names are now? They might as well be nowhere, as I am for them. I too am a missing person. ~ Margaret Atwood
Homeless People quotes by Margaret Atwood
Mikhail would be going into a dangerous situation, and a part of her knew he needed most of the night to complete his tasks, but there was no sign of impatience in him. He appeared relaxed and enjoying his time with her, wholly focused on her alone. She appreciated that in him so much--that ability to give her what she needed.
He lifted his head and looked at her. "You always come first with me, Raven."
"I don't know how I managed to get so lucky." She trailed her fingers through his hair. All that dark silk intrigued her. She had never really seen men who wore their hair long and yet still looked so masculine.
"That you can say that after all that has happened amazes me," Mikhail said. He dipped his head to taste the small indent of her belly button. His chin nuzzled her. "Someday my child will grow right here."
"You'd like that, would you? I might get as big as a house."
Mikhail kissed her tummy again and then kissed the path to her breasts. "You will have milk for our babies. That is such a miracle, Raven."
She heard the ache in his voice. The need. He didn't quite believe they would manage to have children, not when his people had been unable to do so for centuries, but he was willing to dream of it--with her.
"We'll find a way to have children, Mikhail. You managed to convert me without becoming deranged." There was gentle humor in her voice.
Mikhail's head went up, his dark eyes meeting hers.
Raven laughed softly. "Did you th ~ Christine Feehan

We celebrate the contribution of people who have come to this country to make it better. ~ Boris Johnson
Homeless People quotes by Boris Johnson
Do you think Patrick Swayze now goes up behind people in pottery classes and hugs them just to crack up other ghosts? ~ Chris Hardwick
Homeless People quotes by Chris Hardwick
There are two New Yorks - Manhattan and everything else. I'm a Manhattanite. I feel sorry for those people who aren't. ~ John Catsimatidis
Homeless People quotes by John Catsimatidis
the queerest people she had ever seen. ~ L. Frank Baum
Homeless People quotes by L. Frank Baum
Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... ~ Hunter S. Thompson
Homeless People quotes by Hunter S. Thompson
Every action is a losing, a letting go, a passing away from oneself of some bit of one's own reality into the existence of others and of the world. In Jesus Christ, this character of action is not resisted, by trying to use our action to assert ourselves, extend ourselves, to impose our will and being upon situations. In Jesus Christ, this self-expending character of action is joyfully affirmed. I receive myself constantly from God's Parenting love. But so far as some aspects of myself are at my disposal, these I receive to give away. Those who would live as Jesus did - who would act and purpose themselves as Jesus did - mean to love, i.e., they mean to expend themselves for others unto death. Their being is meant to pass away from them to others, and they make that meaning the conscious direction of their existence.

Too often the love which is proclaimed in the churches suppresses this element of loss and need and death in activity. As a Christian, I often speak of love as helping others, but I ignore what this does to the person who loves. I ignore the fact that love is self-expenditure, a real expending and losing and deterioration of the self. I speak of love as if the person loving had no problems, no needs, no limits. Who is a bad man and who is a good man? What is the definition? The bad man is one who is inconsiderate of others. The bad man is one who uses others and has no respect for others. The bad man is one who thinks he is the center of the world and everybody is just to be used. Everything exists for him. The bad man is one who thinks that other persons are just means for his gratification.

Keep this definition in mind because you ordinarily think the bad man is the criminal. The bad man may not be the criminal: all bad men are not criminals. All criminals are bad, but all bad men are not criminals. A few of them are judges, a few of them are very respectable people, a few of them are politicians, presidents and prime ministers, a few of them are even parading as saints.

So when we will be talking about this sutra, remember the definition of a bad man - Buddha says a bad man is one who has no consideration for others. He simply thinks about himself only - he thinks he is the center of existence and he feels the whole existence is made for him. He feels authorized to sacrifice everybody for his own self. He may not be bad ordinarily, but if this is the attitude, then he is a bad man.

Who is a good man? Just the opposite of the bad man: one who is considerate of others, who gives as much respect to others as he gives to himself, and who does not pretend in any way that he is the center of the world, and who has come to feel that everybody is the cent ~ Osho
