Spare no details-this shit is better than HBO. ~ Alice Clayton
Hbo quotes by Alice Clayton
HBO is not an advertiser-based model, it's a subscription model. So what's significant to HBO is not necessarily the debut of an episode, it's the cumulative numbers. ~ Michael Mann
Hbo quotes by Michael Mann
HBO is really famous for hiring good people and staying out of their way until they ask for help, or need it. And that reputation is earned. ~ Richard Russo
Hbo quotes by Richard Russo
I really was interested in doing something for a premium channel like Showtime or HBO, just because you get to really let loose. I think they let their storylines go wherever they want, and it's really a special place to work. ~ Ben Schwartz
Hbo quotes by Ben Schwartz
TV and film were always governing passions of mine, and that first wave of great HBO shows in the early years of the millennium was feeding my desire for fiction more than the books I was reading. ~ Nic Pizzolatto
Hbo quotes by Nic Pizzolatto
I did a pilot for HBO, called One Percent, that they didn't end up picking up, but it was a pretty intense and dramatic piece. ~ Donal Logue
Hbo quotes by Donal Logue
Frankly, with HBO and Showtime and cable shows, the DVD box sets and all, you can have a product that doesn't make you feel like as soon as it's projected, it's thrown away. It's really a piece of art. ~ Louis Leterrier
Hbo quotes by Louis Leterrier
The more unique your film is and unusual it is and difficult it is, the harder it is to get it financed. That's why a lot of good filmmakers are doing television. They do HBO movies. ~ David Cronenberg
Hbo quotes by David Cronenberg
I recently finished a job, an HBO movie 'Getting On,' a very dark comedy. It comes from a British series of the same name. In this role I have no hair, no make up and no nails. I play a very small role; she is not over the top and sassy. ~ Niecy Nash
Hbo quotes by Niecy Nash
Eddie Izzard is wonderful, I think, but I've only seen that one HBO special he did. He's one of the few people who talk about stuff other than girlfriends and relationships and flatulence and genitalia. There are very few of them who actually talk about real stuff. ~ Tom Lehrer
Hbo quotes by Tom Lehrer
It's like, 'Sorry I passed you an STD but I really enjoy your quirky web presence.' ~ Hannah
Hbo quotes by Hannah
I'm just ah, actually developing a tv show for HBO, and I'm directing a film this summer, and actually I'm doing some live shows out in western Canada. ~ Bruce McCulloch
Hbo quotes by Bruce McCulloch
I would really like to do a really cool one-hour show, maybe on, like, HBO or something like that; or something that I've spent a couple of years developing so it would be exactly the character and exactly in with a huge push behind it; or I would maybe want to do a sitcom; something light and funny. ~ Jennifer Love Hewitt
Hbo quotes by Jennifer Love Hewitt
At HBO, they seem to be well-informed. They make what I think are really quite mature films. ~ Bruce Beresford
Hbo quotes by Bruce Beresford
I remember one night, my parents were out at a function of some kind and I had just gotten cable in my room. That was a big deal, and I saw 'Blue Velvet' on HBO. It blew my mind in a way that I don't think children's minds are supposed to be blown, but they probably shouldn't be watching 'Blue Velvet.' ~ James Roday
Hbo quotes by James Roday
There's three networks you want to be on: It's either AMC, HBO, or Showtime. ~ Aaron Paul
Hbo quotes by Aaron Paul
There are only a few TV networks that really invest in production in the way that I think they should. HBO, obviously, is one of them. ~ James Purefoy
Hbo quotes by James Purefoy
I am very lucky that my first film was fully commissioned by HBO. ~ Lauren Greenfield
Hbo quotes by Lauren Greenfield
I was out at the HBO party, these are liberals, I imagine, and a lot of people came up to me and said, "Keep giving it to the president." ~ Bill Maher
Hbo quotes by Bill Maher
Television has - particularly at the HBO level in the United States - become a completely new genre. Something like Deadwood or The Wire is a whole new thing - there was no equivalent to that medium before. It's like a new way of telling stories. ~ William Gibson
Hbo quotes by William Gibson
When 'Sex and the City' aired its first season, people didn't know about HBO as a place for original series. People weren't saying, 'Oh I've got to watch 'Sex and the City'!' They found it later. In some ways, it helped change what people thought of HBO. ~ Darren Star
Hbo quotes by Darren Star
Dane Cook is one of the most exciting comedy stars to emerge on the scene in many years, and his ability to connect with audiences is truly remarkable. HBO will be able to give this gifted performer the broadest, most unrestricted showcase for his talent, and we're delighted to welcome him to the network. ~ Chris Albrecht
Hbo quotes by Chris Albrecht
I think network television is really hard because it has to sail right away. HBO's so much more nurturing, patient. They think it takes a while for a show to kind of congeal and figure out what its strong spots are. ~ Amanda Peet
Hbo quotes by Amanda Peet
I was scared to death because for the comics of my generation, HBO specials are like the pinnacle. I'm thinking of all these unbelievable comedians I've seen on HBO: Chris Rock, George Carlin, Damon Wayans, Richard Pryor and Billy Crystal. I started having a panic attack seeing my name in that list of people. It was pretty overwhelming. ~ Bill Burr
Hbo quotes by Bill Burr
I spent most of my life watching HBO series wishing that at some point in my career I might be able to work with them. ~ Emilia Clarke
Hbo quotes by Emilia Clarke
Milch had a bigger cast, a bigger set (on the Melody Ranch studio, where Gene Autry had filmed very different Westerns decades earlier), and more creative freedom than he'd ever had before. There were no advertisers to answer to, and HBO was far more hands-off than the executives at NBC or ABC had been. And as a result, there was even less pretense of planning than there had been on NYPD Blue, and more improvisation. There were scripts for the first four episodes of Season 1, and after that, most of the series was written on the fly, with the cast and crew often not learning what they would be doing until the day before (if that). As Jody Worth recalls, the Deadwood writers would gather each morning for a long conversation: "We would talk about where we were going in the episode, and a lot of talk that had nothing to do with anything, a lot of Professor Milch talk, all over the map talk, which I enjoyed." Out of those daily conversations came the decisions on what scenes to write that day, to be filmed the day after. There was no system to it, no order, and the actors would be given scenes completely out of context from the rest of the episode. ~ Alan Sepinwall
Hbo quotes by Alan Sepinwall
All of the action, and the Wild West West fun, crazy, HBO stuff is in there and it's all amazing, but what separates the show [ Westworld] is that it's an existential drama. It's an intellectual nightmare. It is all very much based in reality. A lot of the technologies that we're exploring is stuff that we're working at, right now. All of this is not that far away. It's taking a look at humanity and the state that we're in now and what would happen, if we kept on going the way that we're going and we created this artificial intelligence. ~ Evan Rachel Wood
Hbo quotes by Evan Rachel Wood
I realize I'm not different. I want what everyone wants. I want what they all want. I want all the things. I just want to be happy. ~ Hannah
Hbo quotes by Hannah
From her character in the HBO miniseries: The art of politics is the art of applying the seat of the britches to the seat of the chair. ~ Abigail Adams
Hbo quotes by Abigail Adams
I happened to fall into a job that wound up being a seminal piece of television history, which was a show I did on HBO called 'The Wire.' That experience really set the bar for me and opened a lot of doors. It also gave me a lot of street cred in terms of my phone ringing and job offers. ~ Deirdre Lovejoy
Hbo quotes by Deirdre Lovejoy
I really loved the 'Sopranos' but didn't have HBO. So someone would send me tapes of the show with three or four episodes. I would watch one episode and go: 'Oh my God, I've got to watch one more.' I'd watch the whole tape and champ at the bit for the next one. ~ Ted Sarandos
Hbo quotes by Ted Sarandos
I do not buy CDs any more; I usually stream Internet radio. For movies, I hardly every buy any DVDS. I have a DVR, so just record things off HBO, Showtime and so on. ~ Oren Peli
Hbo quotes by Oren Peli
The most exciting fight I have called on HBO was the first meeting between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward. When I stood up to do the post-fight on camera, my stomach muscles were tight and sore from the tension of watching them take their lives into their hands and trade shots. ~ Jim Lampley
Hbo quotes by Jim Lampley
I tell stories so only the independents do that and they don't pay you that much. I'd rather do TV or an HBO movie. ~ Penny Marshall
Hbo quotes by Penny Marshall
I don't like swearing on the air. As a matter of fact, I'm not a prude, but ... I watch HBO and some of the comedy stuff, and I'm constantly asking myself, 'Why have we gone there?' It seems like it's unfortunate. It's so cheap. It's so easy. ~ Brian Lamb
Hbo quotes by Brian Lamb
In December 2008 [Manny Pacquiao] defied the odds and pummeled the celebrated American boxer Oscar De Le Hoya into submission and permanent retirement.
An on-air exchange by the stunned HBO announcing team:
"Pacquiao is the most exciting little fighter in the world."
"Little?! He looks big tonight!"
"/Big/ little fighter in the world. ~ Alex Tizon
Hbo quotes by Alex Tizon
I'm going to start work on developing a series for HBO, because I'm naturally given to episodic stories of considerable length. And I won't have to listen to complaints about how wordy and long my work is if you can watch it on your telephone on the subway: You can make it conform to your day as if it were a book. ~ Tony Kushner
Hbo quotes by Tony Kushner
Opening for Louis C.K. during his "Hilarious" tour was a great experience for me. He is the generation just ahead of me, because he started so young. So it's like he's sort of a senior and I'm a junior, in terms of the business. He's done so much - from writing on Conan and Chris Rock to writing and directing movies, having his own HBO show, "Lucky Louie," and now having "Louie" on FX. ~ Ted Alexandro
Hbo quotes by Ted Alexandro
The second disk was taped at our all-night anniversary show. And some of those sets are taped at like 4:30 or 5 in the morning, when people are a little groggy and not doing what they would do if they knew it was being recorded. That said, that disk has an entirely different flavor. It's more experimental. It has more of the newcomers on it. It has people doing stuff that you won't see on Comedy Central or HBO specials. ~ B. J. Porter
Hbo quotes by B. J. Porter
I had a prior deal in place to do a miniseries for HBO, so I'm not done with TV. But I basically want to stay in movies. ~ David Chase
Hbo quotes by David Chase
Politically Incorrect was the name of the show Bill Maher hosted in the 1990s. It's also an apt description of the man himself. Now host of
HBO's hit show Real Time, I find Maher to be one of the sharpest observers of American politics and life in general out there. It doesn't mean I always agree with him. I always find him funny, though. ~ Fareed Zakaria
Hbo quotes by Fareed Zakaria
The Canary Islands offer special incentives to companies looking at potential filming locations, so it was only logical for me to help the local government make connections with major U.S. film studios like Universal, Fox, Sony, Disney, Paramount, Time Warner, 21st Century Fox, CBS, Viacom, Comcast, HBO, Netflix, Warner Brothers etc. ~ James Costos
Hbo quotes by James Costos
We're closer to HBO than we are to the entire grid of cable on demand. ~ Ted Sarandos
Hbo quotes by Ted Sarandos
So confusing. It was some kind of magic, I knew that for sure, but I didn't understand the subtleties of it all. You'd have thought all those years of HBO and shit would have prepared me better. ~ Red Tash
Hbo quotes by Red Tash
Writing books isn't a drastic departure from writing for the stage. I've always written in the long format, five, eight, 10-minute pieces rather than one-liners, so since writing books, the process hasn't changed much. A piece in my live routine can end up as part of one of my HBO specials, and it can also end up in one of the books. ~ George Carlin
Hbo quotes by George Carlin
Well, I'm about to do another western, a pilot for HBO this fall. ~ Walter Hill
Hbo quotes by Walter Hill
When you're a comedian, the Holy Grail is an hour long HBO special. ~ Gabriel Iglesias
Hbo quotes by Gabriel Iglesias
I love HBO productions, actually, like 'The Wire.' ~ David Mitchell
Hbo quotes by David Mitchell
HBO is undeniably a leader in meaningful storytelling in a wide array of formats. I'm honored to join the REAL SPORTS team and look forward to continuing my fervor for uncovering unique and impactful stories. ~ Soledad O'Brien
Hbo quotes by Soledad O'Brien
I owe absolutely everything to HBO. ~ Emilia Clarke
Hbo quotes by Emilia Clarke
I'm a great admirer, fan and consumer of television. I love serial drama. I have been a major fan of HBO's series for many years. ~ Todd Haynes
Hbo quotes by Todd Haynes
Mick Jagger also a music connoisseur and knows everything about that era. So, you knew the music side was going to be top-notch. It's HBO. On Men of Certain Age, if we wanted a song, it would break the bank. But, Vinyl can go all-out. ~ Ray Romano
Hbo quotes by Ray Romano
I was on a show called '12 Miles of Bad Road' with Lily Tomlin - it was an incredible HBO show. We shot 6 episodes, previewed it before the finale of 'The Sopranos;' it was written up as a 'Great New Show on HBO,' and then the whole thing was canned. Gone. Disappeared. That's when I realized anything can happen in this business. ~ Eliza Coupe
Hbo quotes by Eliza Coupe
I was lucky on 'Arli$$.' I basically got to do whatever I wanted because HBO is great for that. ~ Sandra Oh
Hbo quotes by Sandra Oh
We are on dangerous ground right now, because of our secrets and our lies. They're practically what defines us. When the truth offends, we lie and lie until we can no longer remember it is even there. But it is still there. Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later that debt is paid. ~ HBO
Hbo quotes by HBO
I experimented with my own one-man show a couple of years ago in Aspen when HBO used to have their comedy festival there. I called it 'A History of Me.' ~ Alan Zweibel
Hbo quotes by Alan Zweibel
What's great about HBO is they just care about quality. They care about the brand. They're not worried about ratings; obviously they want people to buy subscriptions, but they just want people to be into what's on HBO. ~ Eddie Kaye Thomas
Hbo quotes by Eddie Kaye Thomas
January 14, 2000, was my first time on stage, and I've been hooked ever since. I got discovered nationally in Seattle by the now-defunct HBO Comedy Festival, and that led to an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and a path to a professional comedy career. ~ Hari Kondabolu
Hbo quotes by Hari Kondabolu
Working with HBO was an opportunity to experience creative freedom and 'long-form development' that filmmakers didn't have a chance to do before the emergence of shows like 'The Sopranos.' ~ Martin Scorsese
Hbo quotes by Martin Scorsese
I have a project at HBO and one at the Family Channel coming that are being looked at. Aside from that I am not doing much more than playing golf and some skiing. ~ Gil Gerard
Hbo quotes by Gil Gerard
It used to be that you had to do a certain number of episodes to hit syndication in order to try to keep a show on, because it's important to the network because it sells good commercial time. That's really not how HBO does things. ~ Terence Winter
Hbo quotes by Terence Winter
I remember before I did my HBO special, Chris [Rock] screamed at me - in a loving way, but still. He was like, "You need to do 200 shows in a row and a month straight on the road before you even think about recording a special!" And I had literally booked two weeks on the road and then went right into the recording. It put me in a panic, but it also made me work harder and made me realize that everyone works differently, and that's okay. ~ Judd Apatow
Hbo quotes by Judd Apatow
I am willing to admit that Gerard Butler has single-handedly murdered the romantic comedy."

Gigi snickered. "Gerard Butler took the romantic comedy to an orgy, accidentally strangled it during an air game, panicked, and dumped its body in the woods."

I stared at her, gobsmacked. "That may be the funniest thing I've ever heard –" I spluttered. "How the hell do you even know what an air game is?"

Gigi preened. "Just because you put the parental locks on HBO doesn't mean I can't get around them. ~ Molly Harper
Hbo quotes by Molly Harper
I'm strictly a movie person. I mean, I watch the HBO documentaries and Netflix. ~ Maria Thayer
Hbo quotes by Maria Thayer
I grew up watching PBS and wanting to be a part of it, just like HBO. ~ Jeremy Piven
Hbo quotes by Jeremy Piven
When I graduated from Brown after majoring in women's studies, I made my first PBS documentary, 'Women of Substance.' My first feature documentary was called 'American Hollow,' which I did for HBO and was at the Sundance Film Festival. ~ Rory Kennedy
Hbo quotes by Rory Kennedy
At least this way we're safe in a room with a door that locks. And the sign says they have HBO."
That stands for Horrible Bloody Ohmygod." Eve said. "which is the way they kill you. When you think you're safe. ~ Rachel Caine
Hbo quotes by Rachel Caine
I mean, people who watch Jon Stewart's show every night don't think he went far enough, because he couldn't do what he does on his show every night, because it's a different job. The same thing with Chris Rock. He can't come out and do a tossed-salad routine, the way he does on his HBO shows, because this is the Academy Awards. ~ Bruce Vilanch
Hbo quotes by Bruce Vilanch
Well, it was actually - I brought the idea of doing a documentary to HBO back in 2000, when there were some press reports sort of were bandied about that there were going to TV movies based on some of the books that were out. ~ Monica Lewinsky
Hbo quotes by Monica Lewinsky
'Behind The Candelabra' is an HBO movie. It's the Liberace story. Michael Douglass and Matt Damon. I play a small part in it. I play a choreographer who introduces, brings Matt Damon to Las Vegas for the first time. ~ Scott Bakula
Hbo quotes by Scott Bakula
I have a deal with HBO to develop television, and I am also developing a movie called 'The Abstinence Teacher,' which is based on a book by Tom Perrotta. ~ Lisa Cholodenko
Hbo quotes by Lisa Cholodenko
'Boyz-n-the-Hood' was actually supposed to be written for Eazy's group. He had a group out in New York called Home Boys Only, called HBO. One of them looked like LL Cool J. Eazy wanted to write a song for them, a street song, like what we were doing on the mix tapes. So when I wrote it, it was too West Coast for them. ~ Ice Cube
Hbo quotes by Ice Cube
I remember when I had my show [The Chris Rock Show on HBO], I used to run my show. It was so hard to get people to bring sketches to me. No one had ever worked for a black person before. Even the black people hadn't worked for a black person. It literally took a month or two for everybody to know: I'm really running the show. ~ Scott Raab
Hbo quotes by Scott Raab
I'm kind of a pop balladeer because I love the art of storytelling. I call myself 'HBO for the ears'; I sing little movies. ~ Amanda McBroom
Hbo quotes by Amanda McBroom
I don't even want a boyfriend. I just want someone who wants to hang out all the time, and thinks I'm the best person in the world, and wants to have sex with only me. ~ Hannah
Hbo quotes by Hannah
Most sketch aficionados have an enormous amount of respect for 'Mr. Show.' I didn't have HBO back then, so I was always trying to find episodes. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross became celebrities, and Jay Johnston - who's lesser known, but brilliant - deserves a lot of credit, too. ~ Nick Swardson
Hbo quotes by Nick Swardson
Nothing you see on the Internet is mine unless it comes from one of my albums, books, HBO specials, or appeared on my website. ~ George Carlin
Hbo quotes by George Carlin
I think people tune in to watch a football game because they want to watch a football game. If they wanted to watch a stand-up comedy show on HBO, that's where they'd go ~ Dan Dierdorf
Hbo quotes by Dan Dierdorf
HBO and I have a deal to at least try to make a television series from the Leonid McGill stories. We're going to start with the first novel, 'The Long Fall.' ~ Walter Mosley
Hbo quotes by Walter Mosley
That's the one thing I say about the great British shows. You know, I see it on the series on HBO where the season is shortened to like 12 or 6 or whatever it is. You know there's a reason why there's a quality behind that. Because I think the writers as well as the crew and the cast do get burnt out after doing continuous episodes after and over and it feels like a factory rather than something of a creative process. And we get tapped out. That's just my opinion. ~ Hayden Panettiere
Hbo quotes by Hayden Panettiere
I forget sometimes that I'm in the HBO stable because I am such a fan of so much of their programming. Like, 'The Wire' is my favorite TV show of all time. ~ John Gallagher, Jr.
Hbo quotes by John Gallagher, Jr.
'Rome' was one of my favourite shows, and I wish HBO had given it three more seasons 'cause I would have loved to continue watching it. ~ George R R Martin
Hbo quotes by George R R Martin
'Game of Thrones' is an amazing show, and I have no problem speaking of the virtues of HBO. ~ Peter Dinklage
Hbo quotes by Peter Dinklage
Whatever field you can do that, that's where you want to do it, and I think that's why people like David Fincher and Ridley Scott are interested in it, too, because when you sit down on a meeting in HBO and they're like, "More, more." You're just like, "Oh yeah, I love this." Sometimes it's a little harder in film. I think also it's a great audience, take advantage of it. It's a great audience. ~ Charlize Theron
Hbo quotes by Charlize Theron
HBO Go is a fantastic way to spend your time. ~ Stephen Moyer
Hbo quotes by Stephen Moyer
I felt like I'd culturally arrived when a character on the HBO show 'True Blood' was reading a hardback of 'Heartsick' at Sookie's kitchen table. ~ Chelsea Cain
Hbo quotes by Chelsea Cain
The DVR thing has rocked my world. Being on the road, I used to not keep up with any shows. Now I got a DVR, so I'm watching everything: 'CSI: Miami,' my favorites 'Criminal Minds' and 'The Mentalist.' I like some of the HBO stuff, 'Entourage' and 'Eastbound & Down.' My wife got me into the 'Grey's Anatomy' deal, so I'm watching that. ~ Jason Aldean
Hbo quotes by Jason Aldean
I just love shows that don't hand everything to you, that ask you to be smarter. I think that's something really important that HBO has done to change the landscape of TV. ~ Patrick J. Adams
Hbo quotes by Patrick J. Adams
HBO does something that most networks don't do which is give a show a chance to find their voice. ~ Jeremy Piven
Hbo quotes by Jeremy Piven

Hbo quotes by Chris Lilley
A lot of filmmakers from my generation were lucky enough to have their work more or less perpetuated by people who saw them originally on TV and on HBO and certainly on home video. ~ Joe Dante
Hbo quotes by Joe Dante
I think HBO seems to have an extraordinary clever knack of catching the pulse of its audience. It really, really knows its audience. ~ James Cosmo

Hbo quotes by Allison Williams

Hbo quotes by Issa Rae
If there's a new HBO series, you know there's going to be a certain level of storytelling mastery - that you can trust it. ~ Chris Milk
Hbo quotes by Chris Milk
I'm trying my hand at writing. I'm writing a couple of projects for HBO, a half hour comedy and a miniseries. ~ Charles S. Dutton
Hbo quotes by Charles S. Dutton
FBI vs. CIA
When a person works for the FBI for 20 years and retires,
he gets a watch.
When a person works for the CIA for 20 years and retires,
he gets watched.
I know this not because I'm in law enforcement or with the NSA ~

I know this because I have HBO. ~ Beryl Dov
Hbo quotes by Beryl Dov
On a recent HBO special, Roseanne Arnold, who, incidentally, collects Barbies, excoriated what she considered to be Barbie's middle-class-ness. Why didn't Mattel make, say, "trailer-park Barbie"? But to many upper-middle-class women, all post-1977 Barbies are Trailer Park Barbie. Ironically, given the knee-jerk antagonism to Barbie's body, it is one of her few attributes that doesn't scream "prole." Her thinness - indicative of an expensive gym membership and possibly a personal trainer - definitely codes her as middle- or upper-middle-class. In Distinction, French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu notes that "working class women . . . are less aware of the 'market' value of beauty and less inclined to invest . . . sacrifices and money in cultivating their bodies." Likewise, Barbie's swanlike neck elevates her status. A stumpy neck is a lower-class attribute, Fussell says. ~ M.G. Lord
Hbo quotes by M.G. Lord
To be a scientist is to be naive. We are so focused on our search for truth, we fail to consider how few actually want us to find it. But it is always there, whether we see it or not, whether we choose to or not. The truth doesn't care about our needs or wants. It doesn't care about our governments, our ideologies, our religions. It will lie in wait for all time. And this, at last, is the gift of Chernobyl. Where I once would fear the cost of truth, now I only ask: What is the cost of lies? ~ HBO
Hbo quotes by HBO
I was a big fan of 'Six Feet Under.' So, I got a bootleg copy of the first four episodes on videotape, watched them and was instantly into it. During the first episode, I was like, 'Eh.' By the time I got to the second one, I couldn't watch them fast enough. I got on the phone that night, called Time Warner cable and ordered HBO right then. ~ Denis O'Hare
Hbo quotes by Denis O'Hare
