I was saved in a shabby little motel room. Of course, you don't have to be in a church to be saved. After all, you're probably not going to die in a funeral home. It's convent if you do, but it probably won't happen. ~ Robert Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Robert Morris
Look at yourself! You're a priest. You know damn well that if I were setting out to make a girl at this moment instead of young Paolo, you'd take an entirely different view. You'd disapprove, sure! You'd read me a lecture on fornication and all the rest. But you wouldn't be too unhappy. I'd be normal ... according to nature! But I am not made like that. God didn't make me like that. But do I need love the less? Do I need satisfaction less? Have I less right to live in contentment because somewhere along the line the Almighty slipped a cog in creation? ... What's your answer to that Meredith? What's your answer for me? Tie a knot in myself and take up badminton and wait till they make me an angel in heaven, where they don't need this sort of thing any more? I'm lonely! I need love like the next man! My sort of love! ~ Morris L. West
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris L. West
How are things visible? Can you see an egg against a white background? Not by drawing a line around it can you make it evident. ~ William Morris Hunt
Hawkyard Morris quotes by William Morris Hunt
Another point important to recognize is that the creation was 'mature' from its birth. It did not have to grow or develop from simple beginnings. God formed it full-grown in every respect, including even Adam and Eve as mature individuals when they were first formed. The whole universe had an 'appearance of age' right from the start. It could not have been otherwise for true creation to have taken place. 'Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them' (Genesis 2:1). ~ Henry M. Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Henry M. Morris
Pastor Bates was a careful reader of theology, literature and history. He delighted especially in Gibbon's woeful treatment of Christians in The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, perusing the fifteenth and sixteenth chapters routinely and with glee. He enjoyed brilliant heretics as only the confidently faithful can, seeing in Gibbon the inspired rantings of a cheerleader working himself into a frenzy for a losing team, getting especially rabid come the dreaded fourth quarter, when Jesus begins running up the score. ~ Scott M. Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Scott M. Morris
She lit wildfires inside my soul and fanned them with hurricanes. ~ Morris R. Gates
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris R. Gates
Edit your life frequently and ruthlessly. It's your masterpiece after all. ~ Nathan W. Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Nathan W. Morris
ABC of LIBRA
AMIABLE – Certainly the friendliest of signs – the most sociable, amenable, and gregarious. Libra loves people. And people cannot help loving Librans in return, simply because they are so loveable. ~ Bernie Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Bernie Morris
So drink. Some do drugs. I write. ~ Pamela Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Pamela Morris
One man, one horse, one holocaust on demand. ~ Janet Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Janet Morris
I once went to one of his Virgin Vie parties and had a really good time watching Chas having a paddy whilst trying to put on Dave's socks, before realising that he only had two feet, compared to Dave's three. ~ St John Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by St John Morris
One early terracotta statuette from Catal Huyuk in Anatolia depicts an enthroned female in the act of giving birth, supported by two cat-like animals that form her seat (Plate 1). This figure has been identified as a 'birth goddess' and it is this type of early image that has led a number of feminist scholars to posit a 'reign of the goddess' in ancient Near Eastern prehistory. Maria Gimbutas, for whom such images are proof of a perfect matriarchal society in 'Old Europe' , presents an ideal vision in which a socially egalitarian matriarchal culture was overthrown by a destructive patriarchy (Gimbutas 1991). Gerda Lerner has argued for a similar situation in the ancient Near East; however, she does not discuss nude figurines at any length (Lerner 1986a: 147). More recently, critiques of the matriarchal model of prehistory have pointed out the flaws in this methodology (e.g. Conkey and Tringham 1995; Meskell 1995; Goodison and Morris 1998). In all these critiques the identification of such figures as goddesses is rejected as a modern myth. There is no archaeological evidence that these ancient communities were in fact matriarchal, nor is there any evidence that female deities were worshipped exclusively. Male gods may have worshipped simultaneously with the 'mother goddesses' if such images are indeed representations of deities. Nor do such female figures glorify or show admiration for the female body; rather they essentialise it, reducing it to nothing more nor less than a re ~ Zainab Bahrani
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Zainab Bahrani
I survive. I survived it all then and I'll survive the rest of it. Without your help. ~ Janet Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Janet Morris
The feeling that one must be an authority in a subject to say anything about it is unfounded. We are all laymen outside the field of our own specialty, ~ Morris Kline
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris Kline
Like most dancers, I love lip stains! We hate gloss because hair gets stuck in it. ~ Heather Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Heather Morris
For the gift of life, the only true thanks was in living fully, and facing death with honor. ~ Janet Morris

Men are fools who forget what really matters while time goes by. ~ Janet Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Janet Morris
Let us roam then, you and I,
When the evening is splayed out across the sky
[ ... ]
Paths that follow like a nagging accusation
Of a minor violation
To lead you to the ultimate reproof ...
Oh, do not say, 'Bad kitty!'
Let us go and prowl the city.
In the rooms the cats run to and fro
Auditioning for a Broadway show.
(From The Love Song of J. Morris Housecat) ~ Henry N. Beard
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Henry N. Beard
Ardon was greeted by several of the members of the tribe of Dan. They were an unruly, quarrelsome group, and Ardon remembered the prophecy that Jacob, the grandson of Abraham, had given on his deathbed. He had identified the nature of each of his sons, and of Dan he had said, "Dan will be a serpent by the roadside, a viper along the path, that bites the horse's heels so that its rider tumbles backward." A grim smile touched Ardon's broad lips. "Old Jacob got it right that time. Dan has some good soldiers, but they are not to be trusted. ~ Gilbert Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Gilbert Morris
Under crowded conditions the friendly social interactions between members of a group become reduced, and the destructive and aggressive patterns show a marked rise in frequency and intensity. ~ Desmond Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Desmond Morris
In the tired hand of a dying man, Theodore Senior had written: The 'Machine politicians' have shown their colors ... I feel sorry for the country however as it shows the power of partisan politicians who think of nothing higher than their own interests, and I feel for your future. We cannot stand so corrupt a government for any great length of time. ~ Edmund Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Edmund Morris
I think that Mos Def is the best actor, but when you talk about rappers in films, I don't really think the quality of the acting is most important because most rappers are put in movies because of the personality and people want to see that. ~ Morris Chestnut
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris Chestnut
[We] make images to see clearly: then we see clearly what we have made. ~ Wright Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Wright Morris
Wisdom is not to be obtained from textbooks, but must be coined out of human experience in the flame of life. ~ Morris Raphael Cohen
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris Raphael Cohen
I cannot suppose there is anybody here who would think it either a good life, or an amusing one, to sit with one's hands before one doing nothing - to live like a gentleman, as fools call it. ~ William Morris

Hawkyard Morris quotes by Richard Morris
Dad, are we lost?" Luke repeated the question.

"Yeah, we're lost," Dad replied quietly. "Hopelessly lost."

Clay let out a soft cry and slumped in the seat. He looked a little like a balloon deflating.

"Don't tell him that!" Mom cried sharply.

"What should I tell him?" Dad snapped back. "We're nowhere near Zoo Gardens. We're nowhere near civilization! We're in the desert, going nowhere! ~ R.L. Stine

Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris Gleitzman
The only time I talk to a woman when I'm naked is when she's on top of me or I'm on top of her. ~ Jack Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Jack Morris
You write five different things, and none of them work, and then suddenly something does, and you ask yourself, 'Why did that last one work?' I think that's the way the artistic mind works. All writers and artists of all kinds often don't know why things work. ~ Gilbert Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Gilbert Morris
I'm getting to the point where they see me as a good actor, rather than just a good guy who can act. ~ Morris Chestnut
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Morris Chestnut
Jack and John

Jack Spratt was much too fat
John Spratt was far too lean
And so between the two of them
They made a dreadful scene.
Jack Spratt got stuck inside the door
While John fell down a drain
And what with all the noise they made
The neighbours did complain. ~ Bernie Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Bernie Morris

The Shakers also have one golden rule – back to William Morris: Do not make that which is not useful. And so it was their interpretation that all useful things should also be beautiful. God, as architect Mies van der Rohe said, was in the details and, you never know, an angel may come one day and sit on that chair – it had to be worthy of such an event. ~ Alan Moore
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Alan Moore

A good exercise for identifying intervals is to sing them. Sing one note, any note, and then try to sing, let's say, a perfect fourth above it. ~ Skip Morris
Hawkyard Morris quotes by Skip Morris
Bandara was not an easy place to return to: it could hide from the common worlds whose periphery it inhabited. But Bandara never had, in all its years, completely disappeared. ~ Janet Morris
