When I go to the cinema, I want to have a cinematic experience. Some people ignore the sound and you end up seeing something you might see on television and it doesn't explore the form. Sound is the other picture. When you show people a rough cut without the sound mix they are often really surprised. Sound creates a completely new world. With dialogue, people say a lot of things they don't mean. I like dialogue when it's used in a way when the body language says the complete opposite. But I love great dialogue I think expositional dialogue is quite crass and not like real life. ~ Lynne Ramsay
Great Dialogue quotes by Lynne Ramsay
The only thing better than great dialogue is the ability to say everything with no dialogue at all. ~ Adam Levenberg
Great Dialogue quotes by Adam Levenberg

Great Dialogue quotes by Alistair McHarg

Great Dialogue quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
If the people raise a great howl against my barbarity and cruelty, I will answer that war is war, and not popularity seeking. ~ William Tecumseh Sherman
Great Dialogue quotes by William Tecumseh Sherman
Being a great believer in Scottish tradition, I followed the example of my fellow countrymen and moved to England. ~ Rory Bremner
Great Dialogue quotes by Rory Bremner
The great gift of Easter is hope - Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God, in his ultimate triumph, and in his goodness and love, which nothing can shake. ~ Basil Hume
Great Dialogue quotes by Basil Hume
Why did I, like thousands of others, have to carry a cross I hadn't chosen, a cross which was not made for my shoulders and which didn't concern me? Who decided to come rummaging around in my obscure existence, invade my gray anonymity, my meager tranquility, and bowl me like a little ball in a great game of skittles? God? Well, in that case, if He exists, if He really exists, let Him hide His face. Let Him put His two hands on His head, and let Him bow down. It may be, as Peiper used to teach us, that many men are unworthy of Him, but now I know that He, too, is unworthy of most of us, and that if the creature is capable of producing horror, it's solely because his Creator has slipped him the recipe for it. ~ Philippe Claudel
Great Dialogue quotes by Philippe Claudel
Don't you two dare say a thing," she pointed a finger at us, straightening her skirt with the other hand. "Just bite your tongues."
"You look great, Lucinda."
"And you're a liar and should have your mouth washed out with soap," she tugged on the sleeves of her cardigan.
"Nice pearls," I pointed to her neck.
"Didn't I tell ya'll to bite yer tongues," Gram's southern drawl became more pronounced when she was irritated. ~ Micalea Smeltzer
Great Dialogue quotes by Micalea Smeltzer
We are all students, in the great school in the sky. ~ Francisco Rebollo
Great Dialogue quotes by Francisco Rebollo
A prudent man should always follow in the path trodden by great men and imitate those who are most excellent, so that if he does not attain to their greatness, at any rate he will get some tinge of it. ~ Niccolo Machiavelli
Great Dialogue quotes by Niccolo Machiavelli
Now it was there. Now it was growing within me like a tumor, like a second head, and it was a part of me, though it surely could not be mine, since it was so big. There it was, like a big dead animal that had once been my hand when it was still alive, or my arm. And my blood was flowing through me, and through it, as if through one and the same body. And my heart was having to make a great effort to pump the blood into the big thing: there was very nearly not enough blood. And the blood was loth to pass in, and emerged sick and tainted. But the big thing swelled and grew before my face, like a warm, bluish boil, and grew before my mouth, and already its margin cast a shadow on my remaining eye. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Great Dialogue quotes by Rainer Maria Rilke
She learned quickly that it was not good to be too different. Great differences caused envy, suspicion, fear, charges of witchcraft. ~ Octavia E. Butler
Great Dialogue quotes by Octavia E. Butler
Carrie felt this as a personal reproof. She read "Dora Thorne," or had a great deal in the past. It seemed only fair to her, but she supposed that people thought it very fine. Now this clear- eyed, fine-headed youth, who looked something like a student to her, made fun of it. It was poor to him, not worth reading. She looked down, and for the first time felt the pain of not understanding. ~ Theodore Dreiser
Great Dialogue quotes by Theodore Dreiser
Are pistols with revolving barrels, sword-sticks, bowie-knives, and such things, Institutions on which you pride yourselves? Are bloody duels, brutal combats, savage assaults, shooting down and stabbing in the streets, your Institutions! Why, I shall hear next that Dishonour and Fraud are among the Institutions of the great republic!' The ~ Charles Dickens
Great Dialogue quotes by Charles Dickens
Shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory! ~ Joseph Smith Jr.
Great Dialogue quotes by Joseph Smith Jr.
A single word often betrays a great design. ~ Jean Racine
Great Dialogue quotes by Jean Racine
FedEx is another company that's passionate. When it absolutely, positively has to get there is such a great, aspirational phrase. And FedEx used it for almost a decade to communicate the passion of delivering a package. The more passionate you are, the more successful you are. ~ Frank Luntz
Great Dialogue quotes by Frank Luntz
The King and Queen of Hearts were seated on their throne when they arrived, with a great crowd assembled about them
all sorts of little birds and beasts, as well as the whole pack of cards: the Knave was standing before them, in chains, with a soldier on each side to guard him; and near the King was the White Rabbit, with a trumpet in one hand, and a scroll of parchment in the other. In the very middle of the court was a table, with a large dish of tarts upon it: they looked so good, that it made Alice quite hungry to look at them
'I wish they'd get the trial done,' she thought, 'and hand round the refreshments!' But there seemed to be no chance of this, so she began looking at everything about her, to pass away the time. ~ Lewis Carroll
Great Dialogue quotes by Lewis Carroll
Lizzy Parks. Check this out, this is brilliantShe is a fantastic jazz singer definitely one to watch from now on, she's got a great voice and she's a great songwriter as well ~ Jamie Cullum
Great Dialogue quotes by Jamie Cullum
Truly, we are witnessing the twilight of the psychopaths. Whether in their death throes they succeed in pulling down the curtain of eternal night on all of us, or whether we resist them and survive to see the dawn of a civilization worthy of the name, is the great decision in which all of us others, however humbly, are now participating. ~ Kevin Barrett
Great Dialogue quotes by Kevin Barrett
I look up from my work, and see before me, less than a block away, the great mysterious "Broadway," the "Graveyard of Dead Hopes," and the "Front Porch of Opportunity." From all over the world people have come to Broadway, seeking fame, fortune, power, love, or whatever it is that human beings call success. ~ Napoleon Hill
Great Dialogue quotes by Napoleon Hill
It's heretical, I know, but I've never really been able to get on with Agatha Christie. She is, of course, a giant of the genre, but I never feel that she cared a great deal about the characters. Consequently, neither do I. ~ Mark Billingham
Great Dialogue quotes by Mark Billingham
It is simply unthinkable that we will ever again send overseas a great expeditionary force of armed men. ~ Frank Knox
Great Dialogue quotes by Frank Knox
In the history of medicine, it is not always the great scientist or the learned doctor who goes forward to discover new fields, new avenues, new ideas. ~ Elizabeth Kenny
Great Dialogue quotes by Elizabeth Kenny
The Holy ... Machine?" I mumbled.
"Yes." She gave a little laugh. "A great miracle. He is a kind of robot, but God has given him a soul - and not an ordinary human soul either, but the soul of a saint or an angel!"
"But ... I thought robots were ... bad ... "
"Yes, of course, and Mary Magdalene was a whore. To God, all things are possible. ~ Chris Beckett
Great Dialogue quotes by Chris Beckett
A man must have a good share of wit himself to endure a great share in another. ~ Lord Chesterfield
Great Dialogue quotes by Lord Chesterfield
What is remarkable in Burke's first performance," wrote his great nineteenth-century biographer John Morley, "is his discernment of the important fact that behind the intellectual disturbances in the sphere of philosophy, and the noisier agitations in the sphere of theology, there silently stalked a force that might shake the whole fabric of civil society itself."4 A caustic and simplistic skepticism of all traditional institutions, supposedly grounded in a scientific rationality that took nothing for granted but in fact willfully ignored the true complexity of social life, seemed to Burke poorly suited for the study of society, and even dangerous when applied to it. Burke would warn of, and contend with, this force for the rest of his life. ~ Yuval Levin
Great Dialogue quotes by Yuval Levin
I didn't start talk radio until '95 in L.A. The show was very successful, and they actually tried to syndicate it nationally, but I couldn't get stations. It was like, "We don't care that she's funny and she's got great ratings. She's liberal!" ~ Stephanie Miller
Great Dialogue quotes by Stephanie Miller
The moral, dear child, is that such powers are never to be considered as the main object; it ought in fact to be obvious from the start that any one's True Will must be deeper and more comprehensive than any mere technical achievement. I will go further and say that any such endeavour must be a magical mistake, like cherishing a gun or a clock or a fishing-rod for its own sake, and not for the use that one can make of it. Indeed, that remark goes to the root of the matter; for all these powers, if we understand them properly, are natural by-products of one's real Great Work. My own experience was very convincing on this point; for one power after another came popping up when it was least wanted, and I saw at once that they represented so many leaks in my boat.

And really they are quite a bit of a nuisance. Their possession is so flattering, and their seduction so subtle. One understands at once why all the first-class Teachers insist so sternly that the Siddhi (or Iddhi) must be rejected firmly by the Aspirant, if he is not to be side-tracked and ultimately lost. ~ Aleister Crowley
Great Dialogue quotes by Aleister Crowley
Massive changes may have occurred in libraries in recent years, with new digital resources and services supplementing the old traditional resources and services, the dog-eared card catalogues ripped up and destroyed, workstations suddenly everywhere, but one essential aspect of "libraryness" has not changed: libraries remain places dedicated to storage. Books continue to be published in greater and greater numbers – so great in fact that there are no accurate figures as to exactly how many are published: some say one every thirty seconds, others four thousand per day, others a million per year – and somehow, whether through the off-site storage of the physical books themselves, or microfilm copying, or digital scanning, we remain obliged to keep up with or afloat in this vast deluge of paper. Even the new, high-tech rebranded libraries opened to great fanfare in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in the 1990s could not get away from this essential fact of paper hoarding: they were called "Idea Stores." - p.56 ~ Ian Sansom
Great Dialogue quotes by Ian Sansom
Presidents are nice people. They're nice, fun-loving people who have great jobs. ~ Dan Jenkins
Great Dialogue quotes by Dan Jenkins
Great change always comes down to the actions of a single person. ~ Michael Scott
Great Dialogue quotes by Michael Scott
The secret pleasure of a generous act Is the great mind's great bribe. ~ John Dryden
Great Dialogue quotes by John Dryden
Happiness is a great power of holiness. Thus, kind words, by their power of producing happiness, have also a power of producing holiness, and so of winning men to God. ~ Frederick William Faber
Great Dialogue quotes by Frederick William Faber
I'm not going to live my life unhappy and why should he and we talk about it and I think what's great about the film is that it shows is the meaning of family doesn't have to be as traditional as it once was, like you can make a family. ~ Nia Long
Great Dialogue quotes by Nia Long
Reading is the gateway to so many things that helps makes it possible for seven billion people to live together on one planet. Literature is the great extra-somatic keeper of our knowledge of what it is to be human. Reading elevates us. We read to be our best selves. ~ Nicola Griffith
Great Dialogue quotes by Nicola Griffith
That's how you know when you have thought too much-- when you become a dialogue between You'll probably lose and You're sure to lose. ~ Norman Maclean
Great Dialogue quotes by Norman Maclean
It is with great satisfaction that I learned of the adoption by consensus of the Durban Declaration against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and the intolerance associated with it ~ Lionel Jospin
Great Dialogue quotes by Lionel Jospin
If you taught me to read and provided for me the same computer system as someone has provided for Stephen Hawking, I, too, would write great books. And yet you don't teach me to read, and you don't give me a computer stick I can push around with my nose to point at the next letter I wish typed. So whose fault is it that I am what I am? ~ Garth Stein
Great Dialogue quotes by Garth Stein
[ ... ] Everyone tries to make his life a work of art. We want love to last and we know that it does not last; even if, by some miracle, it were to last a whole lifetime, it would still be incomplete. Perhaps, in this insatiable need for perpetuation, we should better understand human suffering, if we knew that it was eternal. It appears that great minds are, sometimes, less horrified by suffering than by the fact that it does not endure. In default of inexhaustible happiness, eternal suffering would at least give us a destiny. But we do not even have that consolation, and our worst agonies come to an end one day. One morning, after many dark nights of despair, an irrepressible longing to live will announce to us the fact that all is finished and that suffering has no more meaning than happiness. ~ Albert Camus
Great Dialogue quotes by Albert Camus
I'm not that bad." Macy lifted her head and searched Candace's face. "Am I?"

"I'm not one to give an objective opinion. I've known you my whole life, I'm used to you."

"Great. In other words, 'You're a raging bitch only a best friend could love'. I had no idea I had so little self-awareness."

"Get over it. I'd have to say you're more a snob than a raging bitch. Oh, and maybe a control freak though you're better about that now than you used to be. But I love you anyway. So could he. ~ Cherrie Lynn
