The greatest obstacle to being heroic is the doubt whether one may not be going to prove one's self a fool; the truest heroism is to resist the doubt; and the profoundest wisdom, to know when it ought to be resisted, and when it be obeyed. ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Nathaniel Hawthorne
The poet presents the imagination with images from life and human characters and situations, sets them all in motion and leaves itto the beholder to let these images take his thoughts as far as his mental powers will permit. This is why he is able to engage men of the most differing capabilities, indeed fools and sages together. The philosopher, on the other hand, presents not life itself but the finished thoughts which he has abstracted from it and then demands that the reader should think precisely as, and precisely as far as, he himself thinks. That is why his public is so small. ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Arthur Schopenhauer
The simplest and most obvious cause which can there be assigned for any phenomena, is probably the true one. ~ David Hume
Fools And Wisdom quotes by David Hume
I don't want anyone hurt because I made a wrong choice, God. I need all the wisdom and guidance You can spare. ~ Karen Witemeyer
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Karen Witemeyer
In their innocence and wisdom, in their connection to the earth and its most ancient rhythms, animals show us a way back to a home they have never left. ~ Susan Chernak McElroy
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Susan Chernak McElroy
I am convinced--truly convinced-- that 99% of living is useless. The only--and I mean the ONLY--part of life that is worth anything, is the part where we love a few people in our lives, and to what degree we are able to love them, how much we are able to give, how much of our hearts we are able to put into it. Time moves fast forward; meanwhile, we spend that time on making money, chasing dreams, building names for ourselves, achieving stuff that we want to achieve...time moves fast forward and instead of standing in moments with a few people that we love, we run fast forward with it! We forget how to love a few people given to us to love, we forget how to stay, we forget how to feel, we forget, we forget, we forget, so we can run towards death, leaving behind a house perhaps; kids perhaps; a bank account hopefully; a name worth remembering maybe. But did we love? Did you love? Did you stay? Did you love with all of your heart? Did you? Will you? ~ C. JoyBell C.
Fools And Wisdom quotes by C. JoyBell C.
Memories never did anyone any good, and weepy sentiment was for fools too weak to suck it up and do what needed to be done. ~ Jennifer Estep
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Jennifer Estep
Wisdom is a tree of slow growth; the rings around its trunk are earthly lives, and the grooves between are the periods between lives. Who grieves that an acorn is slow in becoming an oak? ~ Elsa Barker
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Elsa Barker
Love is the language of the heart. It can feel the movements of every atom and understand every language spoken or unspoken. ~ Debasish Mridha
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Debasish Mridha
Had I never loved, I never would have been unhappy; but I turn to Him who can save, and if His wisdom does not will my expected union, I know He will give me strength to bear my lot. ~ Mark Twain
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Mark Twain
We can order him to make appointments and talk to someone, but we can't force him to actually do the work. You've got to be willing to work on your issues. You've got to be willing to face hard truths and fight to get better. that takes courage and force of will. (Anita) ~ Laurell K. Hamilton
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Laurell K. Hamilton
You are the heirs of infinite love and light. Come out my friend. Come out from the narrow lanes of darkness. Come out into the vivacious light of the day where all the glory resides. Come out, O lions, and shake off the ancient mysticism and prejudices. You are the most fascinating expression of Mother Nature. Your soul is the expression of the whole Universe. All the power in the universe is born with you in your biology. Recognize them, realize them and ultimately utilize them in the pursuit of spreading love, harmony and peace. ~ Abhijit Naskar
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Abhijit Naskar
Speculating (and this includes investing and trading) is the only human endeavor in which what feels good is the right thing to do. ~ Jim Paul
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Jim Paul
Therefore, what you do as a spiritual practitioner in this life shapes that. To seek and find this beautiful, continuing existence, where there can be more progress towards Buddha-hood, toward love, and wisdom, and helping all being etc. So that's the great value of it. ~ Robert Thurman
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Robert Thurman
Take a brilliant, creative social scientist, without any respect for conventional wisdom and you get Ellen Langer. She is a fantastic storyteller, and Counterclockwise is a fascinating story about the unexpected ways in which our minds and bodies are connected. ~ Dan Ariely
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Dan Ariely
The devil has not vanished simply because people refuse to believe he exists, no more than God has ... ~ E.A. Bucchianeri
Fools And Wisdom quotes by E.A. Bucchianeri
I think that there are definitely a handful of women in the world that were born of grace, so miraculously mild and terribly true ... and nobody understands them. They end up trying to make men love them, when that's the last thing they should be trying to do! A diamond belongs to those who can recognise what it is, not to those who need convincing. Yes, only a few know what a diamond looks and feels like, but, what's the rush anyway? ~ C. JoyBell C.
Fools And Wisdom quotes by C. JoyBell C.
When you look back at the painful and difficult events of your life, you find that they were the times of your greatest personal growth. The challenges of our lives provide us the opportunity to develop our highest potentials. ~ John Bruna
Fools And Wisdom quotes by John Bruna
He is like light and wisdom is his Gabriel. ~ Franklin D. Lewis
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Franklin D. Lewis
These friends represent an oversimplified "orthodoxy," based on a misreading of the wisdom tradition to the effect that all troubles are punishments for wrongdoing. Their "comfort" consists largely of applying this message to Job, urging him to identify his sin and repent of it. ~ Anonymous
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Anonymous
It doesn't matter how bad things are, something good could happen always. And it doesn't matter how many excuses you have for behaving in an unkind manner towards others. There's never any excuse for not being kind and it's always better to be kind even if it seems pointless and that in fact is the highest wisdom - being kind. It sounds like a very noble, ethereal, simplistic idea but it's true. ~ Viggo Mortensen
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Viggo Mortensen
You know what? Yesterday will never come back. Close your eyes and see something! You shall neither see yesterday nor tomorrow. Open your eyes and you shall see today! Open your eyes to realities then! Today is all you have to make the change! Today is the day you have to prepare for a better tomorrow. Arise and see! Today is the day you have to make the best use of the lessons of yesterday! Open your eyes and see today! Today is all you have to make a change. Awake and see why you have today! Arise and realize why you woke up today! Make today your day! ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
We are living in a world where Ignorance is celebrated as wisdom and Wisdom sidelined as Ignorance. ~ Rajesh Nanoo
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Rajesh Nanoo
Every morning is beautiful, mysterious, and magical, if only you can see it. ~ Debasish Mridha
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Debasish Mridha
Publicity images often use sculptures or paintings to lend allure or authority to their own message. Framed oil paintings often hang in shop windows as part of their display.
Any work of art 'quoted' by publicity serves two purposes. Art is a sign of affluence; it belongs to the good life; it is part of the furnishing which the world gives to the rich and the beautiful.
But a work of art also suggests a cultural authority, a form of dignity, even of wisdom, which is superior to any vulgar material interest; an oil painting belongs to the cultural heritage; it is a reminder of what it means to be a cultivated European. And so the quoted work of art (and this is why it is so useful to publicity) says two almost contradictory things at the same time: it denotes wealth and spirituality: it implies that the purchase being proposed is both a luxury and a cultural value. Publicity has in fact understood the tradition of the oil painting more thoroughly than most art historians. It has grasped the implications of the relationship between the work of art and its spectator-owner and with these it tries to persuade and flatter the spectator-buyer.
The continuity, however, between oil painting and publicity goes far deeper than the 'quoting' of specific paintings. Publicity relies to a very large extent on the language of oil painting. It speaks in the same voice about the same things. (P. 129) ~ John Berger
Fools And Wisdom quotes by John Berger
What God declares the believing heart confesses without the need of further proof. Indeed, to seek proof is to admit doubt, and to obtain proof is to render faith superfluous. Everyone who possesses the gift of faith will recognize the wisdom of those daring words of one of the early Church fathers: I believe that Christ died for me because it is incredible; I believe that He rose from the dead because it is impossible. ~ A.W. Tozer
Fools And Wisdom quotes by A.W. Tozer
I love the way words and pictures work together on a page. I have also noticed how when wise words have visuals added to them, they seem to travel further online, like paper aeroplanes catching an updraught. ~ Chris Riddell
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Chris Riddell
The beauty of life is, while we cannot undo what is done, we can see it, understand it, learn from it and change. So that every new moment is spent not in regret, guilt, fear or anger, but in wisdom, understanding and love. ~ Jennifer Edwards
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Jennifer Edwards
The very old can tell you about peace. They have fought through the black, sinking, visceral knowledge of death–their own death–that heralds middle age and come to the place where childhood meets them once more, and with it that ineffable treasure that only the very young and old know: the tranquility of the moment. The contentment of living each day as it comes to them, wholly and with all senses. The young do it because they know nothing, yet, of pain and fear and the transience of their lives; the old because they know everything of those things and can bear them only by staying in the moment. Carpe diem> may be the sum of all the world's wisdom. I have always thought Horace must have been old when he wrote it. ~ Anne Rivers Siddons
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Anne Rivers Siddons
My heart gave me no respite,
I was like a madman last night.
All night I was beguiled,
Indulged and fantasized.

The flame of Love
In my heart burnt bright
And I was a moth
That on the flame alights… ~ Amir Khusrow Dehlavi
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Amir Khusrow Dehlavi
Convictions are more dangerous enemies of truth than lies.Courageous, untroubled, mocking and violent-that is what Wisdom wants us to be. Wisdom is a woman, and loves only a warrior. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
Proverbs 19:8-9 8 To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. 9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and a liar will be destroyed. ~ Anonymous
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Anonymous
What he taught was very simple. He taught that we are all greater than we know and that wisdom is the means to freedom. He taught that it is not essential to salvation to retire from the world, but only to renounce the self. He taught that work done with no selfish interest purifies the mind and that duties are opportunities afforded to man to sink his separate self and become one with the universal self. ~ W. Somerset Maugham
Fools And Wisdom quotes by W. Somerset Maugham
What is the part of wisdom? To dream with one eye open; to be detatched from the world without being hostile to it; to welcome fugitive beauties and pity fugitive sufferings, without forgetting for a moment how fugitive they are. ~ George Santayana
Fools And Wisdom quotes by George Santayana
Also the natural sexual functions of establishing an intimate human contact frequently assume greater proportions. This is a well known fact about detached people for whom sexuality may be the only bridge to others, but it is not restricted to being an obvious substitute for human closeness. It shows also in the haste with which people may rush into sexual relations, without giving themselves a chance to find out whether they have anything in common or a chance to develop a liking and understanding. It is possible of course that an emotional relatedness may evolve later on. But more often than not it does not do so because usually the initial rush itself is a sign of their being too inhibited to develop a good human relationship. ~ Karen Horney
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Karen Horney
He taught people with his best way. He showed his beauty. He was all good so peace be on him and his family. ~ Saadi
Fools And Wisdom quotes by Saadi
It's not necessary to fill every moment with your own voice. Silence terrifies you. You see your own existence as so tenuous that you're afraid you'll pop like a bubble if, at every opportunity, you don't remind the world that you're alive. But wisdom begins in silence. In learning to listen. To words and to the world. Trust me. You won't disappear. And, in time, you might find that you've grown into something unexpected." "What? ~ Richard Kadrey
