Lady Rose, you grow lovelier every time I see you."
Had it been a stranger who spoke she might have been flustered, but since it was Archer, Grey's younger brother, she merely grinned in response and offered her hand. "And your eyesight grows poorer every time you see me, sir."
He bowed over her fingers. "If I am blind it is only by your beauty."
She laughed at that, enjoying the good-natured sparkle in his bright blue eyes. He was so much more easy-natured than Grey, so much more full of life and flirtation. And yet, the family resemblance could not be denied even if Archer's features were a little thinner, a little sharper.
How would Grey feel if she found a replacement for him in his own brother? It was too low, even in jest.
"Careful with your flattery, sir," she warned teasingly. "I am trolling for a husband you know."
Archer's dark brows shot up in mock horror. "Never say!" Then he leaned closer to whisper. "Is my brother actually fool enough to let you get away?"
Rose's heart lurched at the note of seriousness in his voice. When she raised her gaze to his she saw only concern and genuine affection there. "He's packing my bags as we speak."
He laughed then, a deep, rich sound that drew the attention of everyone on the terrace, including his older brother.
"Will you by chance be at the Devane musicale next week, Lord Archer?"
"I will," he remarked, suddenly sober. "As much as it pains me to enter that viper's pit. I'm ac ~ Kathryn Smith
Flirtation quotes by Kathryn Smith
To have a man who can flirt is next thing to indispensable to a leader of society. ~ Margaret Oliphant
Flirtation quotes by Margaret Oliphant
It took him years to realize it was the flirtation and admiration he craved, not the actual conquest. ~ Dominic Smith
Flirtation quotes by Dominic Smith
Her fiercest sincerities were translated by the male ego, on arrival, into daffy flirtation. (p. 24) ~ Jonathan Lethem
Flirtation quotes by Jonathan Lethem
After the wink, his head moved down and his eyes made a beeline to my chest. Ugh. The old man felt me up with his eyes. Men really are all just alike - no matter the age. He was a flirtatious old fossil. ~ Rose Pressey
Flirtation quotes by Rose Pressey
I plan on flirting shamelessly, so it's a good thing you'll be up here."
"Flirt?"
"Naturally, I have to distract him while he's playing, and what better way than with a casual flirtation?"
"Distract him some other way!"
"What other way?"
"I don't know. You could ... you could drop something on him." Red squinted thoughtfully. "Yes! Scald him with tea."
"During a game? I want him to finish playing, not leap up and run from the room."
"Then think of something else. ~ Karen Hawkins
Flirtation quotes by Karen Hawkins
I had kissed my share of men, particularly during the war years, when flirtation and instant romance were the light-minded companions of death and uncertainty. Jamie, thought, was something different. His extreme gentleness was in no way tentative; rather it was a promise of power known and held in leash; a challenge and a provocation the more remarkable for its lack of demand. I am yours, it said. And if you will have me, then ... ~ Diana Gabaldon
Flirtation quotes by Diana Gabaldon
She had never had a boy talk to her like that. There was no cover of bullshit, no flirtation, no added charm, but his look was searing. He was different from anyone she had known. ~ Ann Brashares
Flirtation quotes by Ann Brashares
You should make someone a wonderful husband."
Even the tips of Jamie's ears were crimson now. But instead of retreating, he clenched his jaw and looked directly into her eyes.
"I suppose I would," he said. "Are you interested? ~ Bruce Coville
Flirtation quotes by Bruce Coville
„I forgive you for stealing my shawl."
She smiles as he laughs.
And then she vanishes. A simple trick of distracting his attention long enough to slip out through the hall, despite the lingering temptation to stay. ~ Erin Morgenstern
Flirtation quotes by Erin Morgenstern
She is not conventionally beautiful or accomplished or elegant," Magnus continued, "but she is attractive. She does not even know how much, but every man she meets feels it and is drawn to her. The thing is, though, that most ladies feel drawn to her too. So it is not flirtation, you see. It is simply the extraordinary attractiveness of her character." -Slightly Dangerous (Bedwyn Saga #6) ~ Mary Balogh
Flirtation quotes by Mary Balogh
I have observed, on board a steamer, how men and women easily give way to their instinct for flirtation, because water has the power of washing away our sense of responsibility, and those who on land resemble the oak in their firmness behave like floating seaweed when on the sea. ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Flirtation quotes by Rabindranath Tagore
Flirtation envies Love, and Love envies Flirtation. ~ Carolyn Wells
Flirtation quotes by Carolyn Wells
With most women he would use flattery and flirtation, appealing to both their vanity and their pleasure. But Grace was no ordinary woman. With her, he knew he would have to take a more subtle approach. Less than half a minute into their acquaintance, he'd sensed her reserve, as well as her insecurity. He surmised she wasn't used to being boldly pursued by men, so any sudden, overt interest on his part would only provoke her suspicions and put her on the alert.
Instead, his approach would require a deft touch and gentle, patient persuasion. A shy doe required proper coaxing, after all. The key was to figure out what kind of inducement she liked best and be there to offer it. ~ Tracy Anne Warren
Flirtation quotes by Tracy Anne Warren
When I was on the ice, in the lights, with the music and the motion, there was a certain kind of flirtation that gave great energy and expressiveness to my performance. ~ Peggy Fleming
Flirtation quotes by Peggy Fleming
Love met with respect and grand style Love - A flirtation with true lovers of love had taken his salvific beginning. ~ Kristian Goldmund Aumann
Flirtation quotes by Kristian Goldmund Aumann
The art of flirtation is dying. A man and woman are either in love these days or just friends. In the realm of love, reticence and sophistication should go hand in hand, for one of the joys of life is discovery. Nowadays, instead of progressing from vous to tu, from Mister to Jim, it's 'darling' and 'come to my place' in the first hour. ~ Marya Mannes
Flirtation quotes by Marya Mannes
At the door I paused. 'So what was your spirit animal?'
'A dolphin. Fun in the sun, endless summer. What about you?'
'Dee Dee Ramone,' I said, and left. ~ Elizabeth Hand
Flirtation quotes by Elizabeth Hand
You cold?' He chafes my arms. I haven't been cold since I moved here. This is something else. 'No. But you can put your arms around me anyway. ~ Sophie Jordan
Flirtation quotes by Sophie Jordan
If I told you your bare ass looks fantastic in the moonlight, would you hold that against me? ~ Pamela Clare
Flirtation quotes by Pamela Clare
Coffee is a lot like people. In many ways, it's deceiving. The sweetness that you smell as it brews is more often than not a fallacy. The scent of a dark roasted coffee bean promises you rich flavors with hints of chocolate and hazelnut, but if you're not used to coffee's deceptiveness, you're left with a bitter aftertaste dangling at the back of your throat. To those of us who are used to it- we've grown a fondness for that bitter taste. It's complex. It's teasing. It reminds us that most things in life are not consistently sweet with every sip. One morning, your coffee might brew mild with just a flirtation of nutty undertones, And the next morning, it might be pelting you in the face with those same nuts, leaving little stinging marks with each sip. It's moody. It's not easy to perfect. But when you get the perfect brew, it's rewarding. And that same perfection is not guaranteed tomorrow just because you managed it today. ~ Katana Collins
Flirtation quotes by Katana Collins
This is ideal, you'll see. We do everything backward. It's just how we are. We began with an elopement. After that, we made love. Next, we'll progress to courting. When we're old and silver-haired, perhaps we'll finally get around to flirtation. We'll make fond eyes at each other over our mugs of gruel. We'll be the envy of couples half our age. ~ Tessa Dare
Flirtation quotes by Tessa Dare
Do you really think that I don't have anything better to do than to spend my time thinking about you? Digging up a little of the goods on Luc Martineau?"
Fine lines appeared at the corners of his eyes and he laughed. "Sweetheart, there is nothing little about Luc's goods. ~ Rachel Gibson
Flirtation quotes by Rachel Gibson
Flirtation is no different from mounting a good argument or coming out ahead in a deal,' he says. He starts batting the last chunk of his scone back and forth across the table with his fingers. 'It's manipulation, Julia. Good convincing. Hell, it's practically theater. ~ Lauren Morrill
Flirtation quotes by Lauren Morrill
Was that semi-colon some kind of flirty wink or just bad punctuation? ~ Azadeh Aalai
Flirtation quotes by Azadeh Aalai
Eyes reveal the unsaid things. The innocence, the flirtations, and the naughtiness all emanate from the eyes. ~ Avijeet Das
Flirtation quotes by Avijeet Das
What if I had refused your request?" she said with a shake of her head. He laughed. "Then I would have had my carriage turned around, of course." She folded her arms with a smile she couldn't help. "You are always so certain of yourself." His smile faded slightly. "Never with you. You forever set me off my axis." He inched closer and suddenly there was a tension in the carriage that had nothing to do with teasing flirtation or friendly discussion. He wanted her. And Vivien wanted him equally. ~ Jess Michaels
Flirtation quotes by Jess Michaels
I see you have the advantage of me,' he said. 'Very well. I'll make it as brief as I can. I'll tell you the plain facts and I only hope you won't draw the wrong conclusions from them. George Rattery had been making advances to my wife for some time. She was amused, intrigued, gratified by it - any woman might be, you know; George was a handsome brute, in his way. She may even have carried on a harmless flirtation with him. I did not remonstrate with her: if one is afraid to trust one's own wife, one has no right to be married at all. That's my view, at any rate. ~ Nicholas Blake
Flirtation quotes by Nicholas Blake
That soul-subduing sentiment, harshly called flirtation, which is the spell of a country house. ~ Benjamin Disraeli
Flirtation quotes by Benjamin Disraeli
In his holy flirtation with the world, God occasionally drops a handkerchief. These handkerchiefs are called saints. ~ Frederick Buechner
Flirtation quotes by Frederick Buechner
She knew nothing of Ren except his name, his aptitude with vocabulary, the fact that he wasn't in college, and the way his hair narrowed to a curling point at the nape of his neck. And she hadn't even realized she knew that last thing until now. ~ Molly Ringle
Flirtation quotes by Molly Ringle
At this moment she was as natural as she had ever been when she was five years old: she felt that her tears has risen, and it was no use to try to do anything else than let them stay like water on a blue flower or let them fall over her cheeks, even as they would.
That moment of naturalness was the crystallizing feather-touch: it shook flirtation into love. ~ George Eliot
Flirtation quotes by George Eliot
Flirtation ... is a graceful salute to sex, a small impermanent spark between one human being and another, between a man and a woman not in need of fire. ~ Marya Mannes
Flirtation quotes by Marya Mannes
In many college classes, laptops depict split screens - notes from a class, and then a range of parallel stimulants: NBA playoff statistics on ESPN.com, a flight home on Expedia, a new flirtation on Facebook. ~ Samantha Power
Flirtation quotes by Samantha Power
Still at the table, engaged no doubt in some kind of arcane flirtation, she for practise, he in pathetic earnest. Toby ~ Margaret Atwood
Flirtation quotes by Margaret Atwood
AFTER LETTING VAUGHN inside, Sidney excused herself to change out of her dress and heels. Sadly,
she did not invite him upstairs to join her.
So instead, Vaughn settled for watching the sway of her hips as she walked up the steps. Sometimes
he didn't know whether he was coming or going with this woman. In the car, he'd thought there'd
been a little flirtation going on between them, but for all he knew "fingers sandwiches and minicakes"
really meant ... finger sandwiches and minicakes. ~ Julie James
Flirtation quotes by Julie James
In an age where the lowered eyelid is just a sign of fatigue, the delicate game of love is pining away. Freud and flirtation are poor companions. ~ Marya Mannes
Flirtation quotes by Marya Mannes
Inside, the festivities would continue, probably well into the night, with flirtation and merriment and gratuitous use of mistletoe. It was an inexpressibly wearying thought. ~ Lauren Willig
Flirtation quotes by Lauren Willig
The woman threw him off balance, and he didn't care for it.Giving him those hot looks and intimate little strokes in the middle of the damn morning so he went through the whole of the day itchy.
Worse yet the man who was paying him to work through the day,not to be distracted by his glands, was the woman's father.
It was a situation,Brian though, and he'd done a great deal to bring it on himself.Still how could he have known in the beginning that he'd become so involved with her on so many levels inside himself? Falling in love had been a hard knock, but he'd taken knocks before. You got bruised and you went on.A bit of attraction was all right, a little flirtation was harmless enough. And the truth was, he'd enjoyed the risk of it.To a point.
But he was well past that point now. Now he was all wrapped up in her and at the same time had become fond of her family. Travis wasn't just a good and fair boss, but was on the way to becoming a kind of friend.
And here he was finding ways to make love to his friend's daughter as often as humanly possible. ~ Nora Roberts
Flirtation quotes by Nora Roberts
As we grow in our family ... let's not forget that we, as a couple, still need attention ... let's not lose grip of the excitement of our flirtation and our passion for each other ... while we tend to the 'we,' let's not forget the 'us'. ~ Steve Maraboli
Flirtation quotes by Steve Maraboli
Venice was luscious. She had real curves and real cleavage. She had a stunning face, set off by a broad, lascivious grin. She had an indefinable hairstyle, a swag of thick blond dazzle that seemed always in motion, falling in her eyes, getting caught in her mouth. Venice spoke in a husky growl, with a deep, filthy laugh.
Venice was no stranger to flirtation; she was practically no stranger to anyone. She smoldered, even at breakfast. Venice - at times literally - enjoyed a love affair with Manhattan. ~ Paul Rudnick
Flirtation quotes by Paul Rudnick
Flirting is the sin of the virtuous and the virtue of the
sinful. ~ Paul Bourget
Flirtation quotes by Paul Bourget
If this was a flirtation - and it felt like a flirtation - it was like no other flirtation in Katya's experience: with a man old enough to be her grandfather? ~ Joyce Carol Oates
Flirtation quotes by Joyce Carol Oates
Frankie had used one (reverently) to wipe his eyes. This specimen was old and soft, monogrammed with a J in the corner. "Makes it interesting," he told me once, after finding a box monogrammed with M for fifty cents at a sidewalk sale. "Was it Max or Michael? Maybe Marco..."
"Here," he said now. "You have lipstick halfway down to your chin."
Humiliated, I scrubbed at my face.
Frankie held out his hand, palm up. "Okay, let's have it." I pulled the tube out of my pocket. "Not really my thing, madam, but since I've seen what happens when you don't use a mirror..." I'm sure it helped that he was holding my face, but he read it like a pro. "You had a mirror."
"I did.I'm hopeless."
"Maybe.Open." He squinted as he filled in my upper lip. "I don't like this."
"The color? I knew it was too pink-"
"Quiet. You'll smear it.The color is fine. Better for Sienna, I'm sure..." He surveyed his handiwork. "I don't like that you're doing this for him."
"Don't start. I told you how nice he was."
"In excruciating detail."
Given, the post-Bainbridge family dinner e-mail to Frankie and Sadie had been long. But excrutiating stung, especially from the boy who'd used every possible synonym for hot in describing his Friday-night bookstore acquisition. No name, just detailed hotness and the play-by-play of their flirtation over the fantasy section. ~ Melissa Jensen
Flirtation quotes by Melissa Jensen
You don't run from someone and expect them to follow unless you want a stalker," he said. "You fool. All I wanted was to play hide-n-seek! ~ Donna Lynn Hope
Flirtation quotes by Donna Lynn Hope
His gaze lingered on her mouth, wide and sweet. A sudden hunger to kiss her made him draw Maggie close. He pressed his mouth against hers, softly, a gently caress, not a searing kiss, for he didn't want to frighten her away.
Her hand on his arm tightened.
Caleb ran his tongue smoothly over her lips until she opened to him, making a small sound. He wanted to plunge his tongue into her mouth and deepen the kiss, to pull her against him and slide his hands over her curves, but he knew that brute of a husband had hurt her. This was only supposed to be a light flirtation, so he held back and waited for her to lead.
Maggie pulled back a few inches. Her eyes fluttered open, dark and luminous, the gold flecks sparkling in the sun. She swallowed and moistened her lips. She studied his face. Her generous mouth trembled, and then her lips turned up. "Why did you kiss me?
"Because I enjoyed your enjoyment in our drive today. I know how seldom pleasures come your way, and I was glad to give you the experience. Because I lack appreciation of my blessings..." 'Because you are mine.'
Caleb didn't want to delve deeper inside himself to find his true feelings, so he resorted to some light banter. He touched the tip of her nose with one finger. "This is the month of May. A man is supposed to steal kisses in May. ~ Debra Holland
Flirtation quotes by Debra Holland
After watching - with a twinge of satisfaction - the letters burn to ashes in the fireplace, Evie felt sleepy. She went to the master bedroom for a nap. In spite of her weariness, it was difficult to relax while she was worried about Sebastian. Her thoughts chased round and round, until her tired brain put an end to the useless fretting and she dropped off to sleep.
When she awakened an hour or so later, Sebastian was sitting on the bed beside her, a lock of her bright hair clasped loosely between a thumb and forefinger. He was watching her closely, his eyes the color of heaven at daybreak. She sat up and smiled self-consciously.
Gently Sebastian stroked back her tumbled hair. "You look like a little girl when you sleep," he murmured. "It makes me want to guard you every minute."
"Did you find Mr. Bullard?"
"Yes, and no. First tell me what you did while I was gone."
"I helped Cam to arrange things in the office. And I burned all your letters from lovelorn ladies. The blaze was so large, I'm surprised no one sent for a fire brigade."
His lips curved in a smile, but his gaze probed hers carefully. "Did you read any of them?"
Evie lifted a shoulder in a nonchalant half shrug. "A few. There were inquiries as to whether or not you've yet tired of your wife."
"No." Sebastian drew his palm along the line of her thigh. "I'm tired of countless evenings of repetitive gossip and tepid flirtation. I'm tired of meaningless encounters with wom ~ Lisa Kleypas
Flirtation quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Flirtation and coquetry are so nearly allied as to be identical; both are the art of successful and pleasing deception. ~ Louise Colet
Flirtation quotes by Louise Colet
Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Where are Angels like you are from? ~ Amit Kalantri
Flirtation quotes by Amit Kalantri
What feeling feels like over time. An attempt to screw up what feeling feels like over time. Heartbreak and a high C ... The often welcome melodic lie ... The soul's undersong. The orchestration of randomness, a flirtation with the boundaries of silence and space ... a reminder that the self wants to disappear, be taken away from itself and returned. ~ Stephen Dunn
Flirtation quotes by Stephen Dunn
The latest mode from Paris, the gown had a devastatingly low, square-cut bodice accentuated with the tiniest bit of sheer, gold trim that barely concealed a hint of dusky nipple. If the viscount appreciated her well-endowed bosom, what harm in teasing from afar that which he could never touch? Deeming it naught but a bit of harmless flirtation with a charming rogue, Diana paid little heed to the fleeting notion that she might actually be playing with fire. ~ Victoria Vane
Flirtation quotes by Victoria Vane
I have no use for "men's rights," any more than I have any use for "women's rights," but let us ask: Who was it that decided it was a good idea to politicize love, sex and marriage? Who spent the past four decades proclaiming that "the personal is political," so that every office flirtation and every petty domestic quarrel is a federal civil rights violation? The damned feminists, that's who. ~ Robert Stacy McCain
Flirtation quotes by Robert Stacy McCain
Once the spark catches, once the prepared, courageous combination of camp, melody, enigma, fantasy, paranoia, electric guitars, shock, male make-up and flirtation took hold, and he found himself at last in the right place at the right time, nothing can stop the momentum from growing. Repressed fantasies, forbidden pleasures, rule-breaking spirit and highly suggestive erotic discrepancies are released with tremendous force into the mainstream. They make it there mostly through Bowie's insatiable mind and body, which has adopted the perfect disguise of an ambiguously sexy, deadly smart and attractively damaged pop star. ~ Paul Morley
Flirtation quotes by Paul Morley
In this unity there was happiness, but it is not far from happiness to suspicion, and the girl was full of suspicions. For instance, it occurred to her that other women (those who weren't anxious) were more attractive and more seductive, and that the young man, who did not conceal the fact that he knew this kind of woman well, would someday leave her for a woman like that. (True, the young man declared that he'd had enough of them to last his whole life, but she knew that he was still much younger than he thought.) She wanted him to be completely hers and herself to be completely his, but it often seemed to her that the more she tried to give him everything, the more she denied him something: the very thing that a light and superficial love or a flirtation gives a person. ~ Milan Kundera
Flirtation quotes by Milan Kundera
I'll never marry. No man could want me in battle, and I wouldn't want anyone who might keep me away from my duty."
"Don't be so hasty to rule out gentlemen's understanding," Magnus said. "There are some who admire a capable girl. One of them might be closer than you think, if you'd take the time to notice what's before you." He leaned closer. For a second, I didn't dare breathe. Since our moment in the library, Magnus had returned to his old, harmless flirtation. I'd half hoped it would stay that way. He sighed gently and said, "Can't you see the way Palehook looks at you?"
He laughed. I was so relieved that I joined him. ~ Jessica Cluess
Flirtation quotes by Jessica Cluess
There are times not to flirt. When you're sick. When you're with children. When you're on the witness stand. ~ Joyce Jillson
Flirtation quotes by Joyce Jillson
Flirtation was already outside Marian's expertise, but trying to seem receptive to his advances was all the harder when he made none. ~ Meagan Spooner
Flirtation quotes by Meagan Spooner
To boast that one never flirts is actually a kind of flirtation. ~ Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Flirtation quotes by Francois De La Rochefoucauld
I think of you only twice a day - when I am alone and when I am with someone else. ~ Amit Kalantri
Flirtation quotes by Amit Kalantri
You're not in love. You're a wonderful flirt, though. You can put that on your resume. ~ Ellen Sussman
Flirtation quotes by Ellen Sussman
Love was more than just a fleeting desire, or a brief glimpse into a fairy tale, or a flash of playful flirtation in her beautiful hazel eyes. It was more than infatuation with a person's best qualities, or reluctant acceptance of their less appealing traits. Real love meant loving the whole person, in every form, in every state, in every way. It was what transformed the ordinary monotony of everyday life into extraordinary moments of warmth and compassion and joy. ~ Jacqueline E. Smith
Flirtation quotes by Jacqueline E. Smith
Lots of male friendships begin as a cheeky snog. Or a little undercurrent of flirtation. ~ Kate Winslet
Flirtation quotes by Kate Winslet
I wish I could read a couple of thousand words a day. Words written by someone else for a change! ~ A. Louise Robertson
Flirtation quotes by A. Louise Robertson
Well, in the first place girls never marry the men they flirt with. Girls don't think it right. ~ Oscar Wilde
Flirtation quotes by Oscar Wilde
Someone--a man--came up behind her and snaked an arm around her waist.
Not flirtation. Aggression.
Kestrel sidestepped and spun, pulling her dagger from its sheath.
Irex. His dagger was drawn, too.
"A fight, dear Kestrel?" His stance was easy. He didn't know how to play Bite and Sting, but his skill at weapons outmatched hers.
"Not here," she said stiffly.
"No, not here." His voice was soft. "But anywhere, if you want it."
"Exactly what do you think you are doing, Irex?"
"You mean, a moment ago? Oh, I don't know. Maybe I was trying to pick your pocket." His tone hinted at a coarse double meaning.
Kestrel slid her dagger into its sheath. "Theft is the only way you will get my gold." She walked from the cover of trees and saw, with shaky gratitude, that the party was still there, that the sound of porcelain and spoons still tinkled over low talk, and that no one had noticed anything.
No one, except perhaps Arin. He was waiting for her. She felt a flash of something unpleasant--embarrassment, perhaps, as she wondered how much of this afternoon he had overheard. Dismay to think that he might have witnessed that last exchange with Irex, and misunderstood it. Or was she troubled by something else? Maybe it was the thought that Arin knew perfectly well what had been taking place behind the trees and had made no move to interfere, to help.
It was not his place to interfere, she reminded herself. She had not needed his help.
Marie Rutkoski
Flirtation quotes by Marie Rutkoski
I'd better have a glass then. To complete my ensemble." Kestrel didn't quite forget her promise to Arin not to drink, but rather willed it away along with everything else about him.
"Oh, yes," said Jess. "You must. Don't you think so, Ronan?"
"I don't think. I am thinking of nothing other than what Kestrel could be thinking, and whether she will dance with me. If I'm not mistaken, there is one final dance before this legendary wine is served."
Kestrel's happiness faltered. "I'd love to, but…won't your parents mind?"
Ronan and Jess exchanged a glance. "They're not here," Ronan said. "They've left to spend the winter season in the capital."
Which meant that, were they here, they would object--as would any parents, given the scandal.
Ronan read Kestrel's face. "It doesn't matter what they think. Dance with me."
He took her hand, and for the first time in a long while, she felt safe. He pulled her to the center of the floor and into the motions of the dance.
Ronan didn't speak for a few moments, then touched a slim braid that curved in a tendril along Kestrel's cheek. "This is pretty."
The memory of Arin's hands in her hair made her stiffen.
"Gorgeous?" Ronan tried again. "Transcendent? Kestrel, the right adjective hasn't been invented to describe you."
She attempted a light tone. "What will ladies do, when this kind of exaggerated flirtation is no longer the fashion? We shall be spoiled."
"You know it's not mere flirtat ~ Marie Rutkoski
Flirtation quotes by Marie Rutkoski
His son was a weak and mentally unstable young man with sadistic inclinations - which went a long way toward explaining his current flirtation with the British - ~ Scott Anderson
Flirtation quotes by Scott Anderson
All women are flirts, but some are restrained by shyness, and others by sense. ~ Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Flirtation quotes by Francois De La Rochefoucauld
They just didn't make them like that anymore. Nowadays she was lucky to get some mild flirtation from some leather-faced NRA lobbyist. Forget about doggy-style on an eighteenth-century canopied bed by a certified KGB agent who said things like beg for it my little Yankee poodle. ~ Magnus Flyte
Flirtation quotes by Magnus Flyte
A gentleman who for reasons of chivalry I shall not mention, but who occupied grand office, and who had taken grandly of wine and allowed veritas to overcome him, went up to the Prime Minister and told her he had always fancied her, to which the Prime Minister replied, Quite right - you have very good taste but I just don't think you would make it at the moment. ~ Nicholas Fairbairn
Flirtation quotes by Nicholas Fairbairn
The Moth don't care when he sees The Flame.
He might get burned, but he's in the game.
And once he's in, he can't go back, he'll
Beat his wings 'til he burns them black ...
No, The Moth don't care when he sees The Flame ...
The Moth don't care if The Flame is real,
'Cause Flame and Moth got a sweetheart deal.
And nothing fuels a good flirtation,
Like Need and Anger and Desperation ...
No, The Moth don't care if The Flame is real ... ~ Aimee Mann
Flirtation quotes by Aimee Mann
Being veterans of the struggle to push back against fundamentalist Christians, American liberals are well acquainted with the pitfalls of the neoconservative flirtation with the religious-right. ~ Maajid Nawaz
Flirtation quotes by Maajid Nawaz
In other words, you'll pretend to be someone else in order to snag a husband."
"Oh, for heaven's sake," she said defensively, "it's no different than what half the women in society do to catch a man. I don't want to waste my time in pointless flirtation when a little knowledge will improve my aim on the targets."
He flashed her a condescending smile.
"What is it?" she snapped.
"Only you would approach courtship as a marksman approaches a shooting match." He licked the tip of his pencil. "So who are these hapless targets?"
"The Earl of Devonmont, the Duke of Lyons, and Fernandez Valdez, the Viscount de Basto."
His jaw dropped. "Are you insane?"
"I know they're rather beyond my reach, but they seem to like my company-"
"I daresay they do!" He strode up to her, strangely angry. "The earl is a rakehell with a notorious reputation for trying to get beneath the skirts of every woman he meets. The duke's father was mad, and it's said to run in his family, which is why most women steer clear of him. And Basto is a Portuguese idiot who's too old for you and clearly trawling for some sweet young thing to nurse him in his declining years."
"How can you say such things? The only one you know personally is Lord Devonmont, and you barely know even him."
"I don't have to. Their reputations tell me they're utterly unacceptable."
Unacceptable? Three of the most eligible bachelors in London? Mr. Pinter was mad, not her. "Lord Devonmont is ~ Sabrina Jeffries
Flirtation quotes by Sabrina Jeffries
Occasionally the poster pictures a pair of cyclists; and then one grasps the fact how much superior for purposes of flirtation is the modern bicycle to the old-fashioned parlour or the played-out garden gate. He and she mount their bicycles, being careful, of course, that such are of the right make. After that they have nothing to think about but the old sweet tale. Down shady lanes, through busy towns on market days, merrily roll the wheels of the "Bermondsey Company's Bottom Bracket Britain's Best," or of the "Camberwell Company's Jointless Eureka." They need no pedalling; they require no guiding. Give them their heads, and tell them what time you want to get home, and that is all they ask. While Edwin leans from his saddle to whisper the dear old nothings in Angelina's ear, while Angelina's face, to hide its blushes, is turned towards the horizon at the back, the magic bicycles pursue their even course. ~ Jerome K. Jerome
Flirtation quotes by Jerome K. Jerome
She shrugged. "I'm surprised your mother didn't inform you of my presence. Or Belle. She has spoken about you a great deal."
His eyes narrowed as his heart sank. "You've become friendly with Belle?" He saw all his hopes for a flirtation with this girl going up in smoke. ~ Julia Quinn
Flirtation quotes by Julia Quinn
Why would our brains throw us into a temporary insanity? What's the evolutionary purpose for this whacked-out loss of control? To understand why fascination grasps us so irresistibly, keep in mind the illogic of flirtation, and the lunacy of love. Fascination, as we've seen, is a visceral and primal decision-making process, one that's largely involuntary. Fisher says that our brains are literally "built to fall in love" because it's in our evolutionary best interest not to think clearly during the two-year time period it takes to meet, court, and produce a child, or else we might come to our senses and avoid the inconvenience of child rearing altogether. ~ Sally Hogshead
Flirtation quotes by Sally Hogshead
I've never been particularly fond of the artifice of flirtation. ~ Elizabeth Hoyt
Flirtation quotes by Elizabeth Hoyt
Joanna's quietly intent nature contrasted sharply with Holly's vibrancy. While Miss Brewster's flirtation stroked his ego, the spiritual maturity Miss Robbin's exhibited commanded his admiration and respect. ~ Karen Witemeyer
Flirtation quotes by Karen Witemeyer
Coquetry whets the appetite; flirtation depraves it. Coquetry is the thorn that guards the rose - easily trimmed off when once plucked. Flirtation is like the slime on water-plants, making them hard to handle, and when caught, only to be cherished in slimy waters. ~ Donald Grant Mitchell
Flirtation quotes by Donald Grant Mitchell
Thermodynamics is one of those words best avoided in a book with any pretence to be popular, but it is more engaging if seen for what it is: the science of 'desire'. The existence of atoms and molecules is dominated by 'attractions', 'repulsions', 'wants' and 'discharges', to the point that it becomes virtually impossible to write about chemistry without giving in to some sort of randy anthromorphism. Molecules 'want' to lose or gain electrons; attract opposite charges; repulse similar charges; or cohabit with molecules of similar character. A chemical reaction happens spontaneously if all the molecular partners desire to participate; or they can be pressed to react unwillingly through greater force. And of course some molecules really want to react but find it hard to overcome their innate shyness. A little gentle flirtation might prompt a massive release of lust, a discharge of pure energy. But perhaps I should stop there. ~ Nick Lane
Flirtation quotes by Nick Lane
Her thoughts drifted to Tyler Dunn... to the feeling of being held in his arms. Wistfulness curled through her heart and she wished for the freedom to enjoy the attention of a man... to indulge in a lady-like flirtation... to fall in love. Although the wishes weren't new, for the first time, she had someone to weave the fantasy around. She could easily paint a romantic dream of living here with Tyler. But, Lily knew that dreaming about such a life would only make it harder to live with her reality. Yet, she couldn't help imagining him in the pool like this, naked as a newborn babe, yet all man. ~ Debra Holland
Flirtation quotes by Debra Holland
Male aggressiveness consists in asking a woman to have intercourse and waiting for her to say yes, or a definite no. Skilful tacticians enhance their chances of making out by distributing their attentions among several women at a time (one version of 'playing the field') thus increasing their statistical chances for a favorable answer, depending on circumstances. This is the height of male aggressiveness that is tolerated. Genuine aggressiveness - rape - [men] have forbidden themselves by law. ~ Esther Vilar
Flirtation quotes by Esther Vilar
Lord Akeldama sighed. 'You lovebirds, how will I endure such flirtations constantly in my company? How déclassé, Lord Maccon, to love your own wife. ~ Gail Carriger
Flirtation quotes by Gail Carriger
Repeat not the manner of a flirtation; for lo, all the world shall hear of it, and women will taunt thee. ~ Gelett Burgess
Flirtation quotes by Gelett Burgess
The pleasure of one's effect on other people still exists in age - what's called making a hit. But the hit is much rarer and made of different stuff. ~ Enid Bagnold
Flirtation quotes by Enid Bagnold
What some highbrows call rapport is nothing more than a mild flirtation between photographer and the girl on the other side of the camera. Some models get so professional they can send hours flirting with the camera itself while the poor photographer is reduced to the role of spectator. ~ Sam Haskins
Flirtation quotes by Sam Haskins
I was doing it again, and I do NOT ogle strangers. ~ Terri Farley
Flirtation quotes by Terri Farley
For much of my life I would crave attention with a carnal intensity. From anyone. From everyone. That feeling of being chosen. I would flirt with anyone who was congenial and amenable - a ravenous, indiscriminate flirtation, or a feather-light, barely-there one - or allow myself to be flirted with, by women and men alike, to cover the emptiness I felt or to fill in the hole, the desired culmination being not so much physical intimacy as emotional affirmation. The boy who had once felt invisible would forever ache simply to be seen. ~ Charles M. Blow
Flirtation quotes by Charles M. Blow
It's always seemed to me that flirtation is a man's device for avoiding responsibility. He can say whatever he wants and knows he won't be taken seriously. ~ G.G. Vandagriff
Flirtation quotes by G.G. Vandagriff
She was determined to sever the connection between her brain and her mouth before any unpleasant truths could escape. After all, she didn't need a brain to flirt, did she? ~ Anna Bradley
Flirtation quotes by Anna Bradley
A man might engage in flirtation with distinterest, even disdain. But he never teases without affection. ~ Tessa Dare
Flirtation quotes by Tessa Dare
You two start on home, Daisy,' said Tom. 'In Mr Gatsby's car.'
She looked at Tom, alarmed now, but he insisted with magnanimous scorn.
'Go on. He won't annoy you. I think he realises that his presumptuous little flirtation is over. ~ F Scott Fitzgerald
Flirtation quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
Why should he treat Elizabeth as if he harbored any feelings for her, including anger?
Elizabeth sensed that he was wavering a little, and she pressed home her advantage, using calm reason: "Surely nothing that happened between us should make us behave badly to each other now. I mean, when you think on it, it was noting to us but a harmless weekend flirtation, wasn't it?"
"Obviously."
"Neither of us was hurt, were we?"
"No."
"Well then, there's no reason why we should not be cordial to each other now, is there?" she demanded with a bright, beguiling smile. "Good heavens, if every flirtation ended in enmity, no one in the ton would be speaking to anyone else!"
She had neatly managed to put him in the position of either agreeing with her or else, by disagreeing, admitting that she had been something more to him than a flirtation, and Ian realized it. He'd guessed where her calm arguments were leading, but even so, he was reluctantly impressed with how skillfully she was maneuvering him into having to agree with her. "Flirtations," he reminded her smoothly, "don't normally end in duels."
"I know, and I am sorry my brother shot you."
Ian was simply not proof against the appeal in those huge green eyes of hers. "Forget it," he said with an irritated sigh, capitulating to all she was asking. "Stay the seven days."
Suppressing the urge to twirl around with relief, she smiled into his eyes. "Then could we have a truce for the time I'm here ~ Judith McNaught

Lacking stamina, it became a withering whimsy of a flirtation. ~ Lisa Genova
Flirtation quotes by Lisa Genova
I was trying to seduce him just by being physically near him. Like, seduction by osmosis. It works in movies constantly. ~ Katie Heaney
Flirtation quotes by Katie Heaney
THE EXCHANGE KEPT LUCAS warm all the way out to the car. He'd jump off a high building before he betrayed Weather, but a little extracurricular flirtation kept the blood circulating; not that all of it went to the brain. ~ John Sandford
Flirtation quotes by John Sandford
One must cease letting oneself be eaten when one tastes best: that is known to those who want to be loved long. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Flirtation quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
Our interactions were confined to a nod as I settled down into my seat. A few days into our routine and we were like an old married couple
we'd just missed out the honeymoon and skipped straight from flirtation to habit." from "First Impressions ~ Josephine Myles
