In ten years, or certainly before then, I'd like to not only be continuously busy as an actor playing tormented, playful characters in film and television but also have gotten a few of my own films made. ~ Kyle Cassie
Film And Television quotes by Kyle Cassie
I plan on continuing to explore all the possibilities of technology, and then finally film and television and movies. Embrace it. ~ MC Hammer
Film And Television quotes by MC Hammer
Film and television is just a different technique in terms of how to approach the camera but basically the job is the same; but what you learn as a craft in theater, you can then learn to translate that into any mediums. ~ Joe Morton
Film And Television quotes by Joe Morton
I do miss sometimes being onstage, because when I do film and television, it's usually so brief and funny. ~ John Michael Higgins
Film And Television quotes by John Michael Higgins
I am open to doing anything. I don't think in this day and age that, aside from two or three people, there isn't an actor who can just do one thing. I also think you can go back and forth between film and television pretty seamlessly. ~ Adam Pally
Film And Television quotes by Adam Pally
I have never wanted to be typecast, one of those actors who plays a variation on a one-note theme. So just as I enjoy playing a wide variety of characters, from good to bad to ugly to cute - so I have enjoyed of late working in film and television, as well as in theatres of various sizes and shapes. ~ Ian McKellen
Film And Television quotes by Ian McKellen
My goal as an actor was to work - to be a working actor, whether it was in theater, and, well, I didn't even consider film and television when I was in New York, but what came along, came along. ~ Stephen Root
Film And Television quotes by Stephen Root
The more intelligent the storytelling becomes and the deeper the character development, people will realize in film and television, like they do in real life, that human beings possess both good and bad. ~ Robert LaSardo
Film And Television quotes by Robert LaSardo
Some of the greatest films and television have only been seen by the people that make them. And some of the greatest music is only heard by the people who make it. ~ Jussie Smollett
Film And Television quotes by Jussie Smollett
At heart, I'm really interested in this marriage of theater, film and television and I think what happened in the UK and obviously is happening here is that there's a convergence of talent kind of moving between the different disciplines and I find that very exciting. ~ Colin Callender
Film And Television quotes by Colin Callender
There wasn't even a movie theater in the town. Nothing. Not even any fast food chains of any kind. Regardless, I knew that I was going to leave and become an actor, and be in film and television, and I've done it. ~ Kristen Hager
Film And Television quotes by Kristen Hager
There's no reason the story of Christianity wouldn't be more prevalent in film and television considering the audience size who love and believe the stories. This is a broad audience and deserves to be on broadcast TV. ~ Mark Burnett
Film And Television quotes by Mark Burnett
There are so many people in film and television that get between a performer and the audience, and that's frustrating. ~ Tom Conti
Film And Television quotes by Tom Conti
To try something longer, I entered a half-hour radio drama contest with the national public broadcaster, CBC. To my surprise, I won. And that opened doors in film and television, because that broadcaster was looking to cultivate new Canadian talent, especially women who could write. ~ Karen Walton
Film And Television quotes by Karen Walton
a myth that the church has very successfully used to its advantage. Many people were under the same impression that there are tons of Scientologists in the film and television business and that we all help each other out. The real truth is that while the church would like you to believe it wields a tremendous amount of influence in Hollywood, that is simply not the case. Throughout my career I knew of one minor casting director who was a Scientologist, but other than that, no real movers and shakers. As a matter of fact, I think identifying myself publicly as a Scientologist probably hurt my career more than it helped it as far as perception was concerned. And while some of the courses the church offered provided me with better communication skills to help land roles, the time, money, and effort I invested certainly didn't outweigh the benefit for me. ~ Leah Remini
Film And Television quotes by Leah Remini
With theater, you have to really be able to listen and to respond to other people on stage. You're all constantly on your toes. And then with film and television, you can get a second take and things like that. ~ Haylie Duff
Film And Television quotes by Haylie Duff
Film and television have convinced too many writers that heaps of dialogue make novels more like movies and therefore good. This is an amateur's fantasy, and it has induced some writers to surrender the few advantages they have over cinematic storytelling. The moviemaker is stuck with what the camera can see and the microphone can hear. You have more freedom. You can summarize situations. You can forthrightly give us people's histories. You can concentrate ten years into ten words. You can move anywhere you like outside real time. You can tell us - just tell us - what people are thinking and feeling. Yes, abundant dialogue can lighten a story, make it more readable and sparkle with wonders. But it is pitiably inadequate before what it is not suited to do. ~ Stephen Koch
Film And Television quotes by Stephen Koch
China's official State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television issued a warning and denunciation of time travel in 2011, concerned that such stories interfere with history - "casually ~ James Gleick
Film And Television quotes by James Gleick
It's hard to have a film and television career and do music work at the same time. ~ Denis Leary
Film And Television quotes by Denis Leary
The bosses of our mass media, press, radio, film and television, succeed in their aim of taking our minds off disaster. Thus, the distraction they offer demands the antidote of maximum concentration on disaster. ~ Ernst Fischer
Film And Television quotes by Ernst Fischer
The Saving Our Cinderellas program is a facet of Saving Our Daughters which is more specifically geared towards using music, theatre, film and television as a means to help build self-esteem in our girls by developing programs that allow them to discover, explore and express their individuality using the arts. ~ Grace Gealey
Film And Television quotes by Grace Gealey
Initially I started in theatre as a Shakespearean actress before film and television. I've always been an artistic child growing up and I knew I wanted to act for as long as I can remember. ~ Lorraine Toussaint
Film And Television quotes by Lorraine Toussaint
We're big fans of the show on BBC, and some of the greatest actors in film and television have done this character, from Basil Rathbone to Nicol Williamson to Michael Caine. (Executive producer) Rob Doherty came in with the pitch last season, it was immediately a show that we gravitated towards. ~ Nina Tassler
Film And Television quotes by Nina Tassler
I'd love to do just straight theatre. I'd love to do film and television, too. ~ Lea Salonga
Film And Television quotes by Lea Salonga
When I moved out to Los Angeles to get some film and television work, and couldn't get any ... I became a little isolated, a little terrified, and it's a good place to get writing, because you're so bored. So I wrote a few screenplays, and people notice those. ~ Clark Gregg
Film And Television quotes by Clark Gregg
When I was a little kid, all I wanted to do was to escape what I thought was the country and get to a city. Probably film and television had influenced me so much, I really thought the key to happiness was living a very artificial life in a penthouse in New York with martini glasses. ~ Tom Ford
Film And Television quotes by Tom Ford
This medium that we're working in - film and television - for an audience, it's like you live through these characters because it's things you can't do in real life. Places you're not prepared to go in real life as a decent human being, anyway. Because if you're a conscientious person, so you live kind of vicariously through these people. ~ Christian Cooke
Film And Television quotes by Christian Cooke
After studying in Sheffield, I went down to London to do my post-graduate degree at the National Film and Television School, embarking on the movie that would eventually become 'A Grand Day Out.' ~ Nick Park
Film And Television quotes by Nick Park
One of the things that's different about London and the English market is that theater and film and television are all based in London. It's not quite the same as in the States where if the playwright here wants a successful TV or film career, they're whisked away by Hollywood. ~ Colin Callender
Film And Television quotes by Colin Callender
Sexism is real and it persists in film and television. I've seen female directors openly undermined by male cinematographers in front of the entire crew ~ Liz W. Garcia
Film And Television quotes by Liz W. Garcia
I love the stage. It's terrifying in a way that film and television is not. When you're about to go out, and you're adrenaline just gets out of control, and that can be really daunting. ~ Stephen Lang
Film And Television quotes by Stephen Lang
It's very hard to become an actor in film and television, you have to have such perseverance and you have to really believe that if you have any sort of talent at all, you will find work one day. ~ Renee O'Connor
Film And Television quotes by Renee O'Connor
Jerry Bruckheimer really is an executive producer, who obviously is the most successful producer in the history of film and television. ~ Dylan McDermott
Film And Television quotes by Dylan McDermott
Initially, I had started doing theater, where the actor has a direct relationship to the audience. So, moving into film and television disconnected me. When you do a film, you start to get the character, and then it disappears for a year before it's released and you get feedback. ~ Matthew Davis
Film And Television quotes by Matthew Davis
I've done a lot of theater work that has been quite diverse. I feel very fortunate to have had many different people think of me in many different ways. So, as an actor that's all you - all I want is diversity. So far in film and television work I have done has not been as diverse, and I hope it grows to be. ~ Michael Stuhlbarg
Film And Television quotes by Michael Stuhlbarg
I think television scripts have become really intriguing and well-done. And writers have stopped drawing any actual line between film and television they used to never cross. ~ Natalie Zea
Film And Television quotes by Natalie Zea
The thing that fascinates me is that the way I came to film and television is extinct. Then there were gatekeepers, it was prohibitively expensive to make a film, to be a director you had to be an entrepreneur to raise money. ~ Tom Hooper
Film And Television quotes by Tom Hooper
There is something so great about film and television where you can convey an emotion in
the blink of an eye which you would perhaps not be able to do to the back row of a theatre, like
over 1000 seats, and there is something so subtle and beautiful about that too. ~ Anna Camp
Film And Television quotes by Anna Camp
Theatre, film and television are all modes of storytelling, and many of us are fortunate enough to move freely among them without feeling that we've 'left' or need to 'go back' to one or the other. In fact, if the theatre is to avoid a brain drain, this kind of fluidity is increasingly necessary. ~ Theresa Rebeck
Film And Television quotes by Theresa Rebeck
I still think of myself as a stage actor. When I do film and television I try to implement what I was taught to do in theatre, to try to stretch into characters that are far from myself. ~ Tony Shalhoub
Film And Television quotes by Tony Shalhoub
The theater is a tough place. It's not cushioned the way it is in film and television. ~ Patti LuPone
Film And Television quotes by Patti LuPone
Since films and television have staged everything imaginable before it happens, a true event, taking place in the real world, brings to mind the landscape of films. ~ Elizabeth Hardwick
Film And Television quotes by Elizabeth Hardwick
I definitely am drawn to strong females who are successful, smart women because I am a woman like that. I think it's important to portray those kinds of women on film and television. Especially as a black woman, I think it's important. ~ Megalyn Echikunwoke
Film And Television quotes by Megalyn Echikunwoke
That is a big danger, losing your inspiration. When I work in film and television I try to do each take a little differently. I never want to do the same thing twice, because then you're not being spontaneous, you're just recreating something. ~ Karl Urban
Film And Television quotes by Karl Urban
There tends to be this hierarchy of film and television, and theater is somewhere else in its own milieu. However, as actors, yes, we love to do theater because it's our story. Nobody can edit it, the curtain goes up, and it's ours for two hours or three, or whatever. And we tell it. ~ Tim DeKay
Film And Television quotes by Tim DeKay
In a way, film and television are in the same sort of traumatic trance that print journalism is. The technology has outpaced our comprehension of its implications. ~ Tony Kushner
Film And Television quotes by Tony Kushner
We live in an era where each of us has a massive catalog of film and television available through the internet at the swipe of a finger. To get folks out of their homes for a piece of art or entertainment, I think you need to offer something they can't get on Netflix or Amazon. ~ Nick Blaemire
Film And Television quotes by Nick Blaemire
In film and television you have to be able to see the whole picture in a different way than you do on the stage because you shoot out of order and you're working with technology. ~ Renee O'Connor
Film And Television quotes by Renee O'Connor
It's funny because the voice-over world is definitely another career. It's another outlet to be creative. But, I'm just not invested, in the way that I am with film and television. ~ Emmanuelle Chriqui
Film And Television quotes by Emmanuelle Chriqui
Obviously I love working in film and television, but I started in theater and I'd love to be on Broadway. ~ Adrianne Palicki
Film And Television quotes by Adrianne Palicki
Film and television essentially feel the same when you're doing it, because it's the same technical approach. ~ Benjamin Bratt
Film And Television quotes by Benjamin Bratt
I want everything to be an honest extension of me. What better way than me talking? It's a direct connection with everyone. With film and television, you make great projects, but stand-up is the thing that is completely yours. ~ Jerrod Carmichael
Film And Television quotes by Jerrod Carmichael
I moved to LA and decided to do films and television, mainly because the theater in New York is totally dead. ~ Shirley Knight
Film And Television quotes by Shirley Knight
Lots of things inspire me. My friends and my family, obviously. I really like to travel, so very inspired by traveling and meeting new people along the way. Also, music and the arts, like film and television. I like to read a lot too; that stuff inspires me. ~ Jessica McNamee
Film And Television quotes by Jessica McNamee
In film and television we are oftentimes so pampered that the truths are withheld. ~ Charles Keating
Film And Television quotes by Charles Keating
Our biggest art forms are film and television, and there hasn't been a great film about 9/11 yet, nor has there been a great television series. Something like The Wire gives us a rich and fully achieved picture of the wasteful, cruel War on Drugs; something like The White Ribbon gives a perspective on World War I that could only have been presented long after the event itself. ~ Teju Cole
Film And Television quotes by Teju Cole
We now live in a world both in film and television where everything is based on something. You point out, "Star Wars" was an original screenplay, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," an original screenplay, "Ghostbusters" an original screenplay, "Back to the Future." All these things that people love were original ideas many years ago. ~ Alfred Gough
Film And Television quotes by Alfred Gough
There's no bigger rush than working as a huge team on a set in film and television. ~ Kyle Cassie
Film And Television quotes by Kyle Cassie
The Australian film industry is a small industry, so you have to really be flexible within working in different mediums. A lot of actors work in theater, film, and television, because there's not much opportunity in terms of employment there. ~ Deborah Mailman
Film And Television quotes by Deborah Mailman
Personally, I don't think the film and television industries are run as well as they used to be. Oh sure, we've got great digital effects now but ... where are the visionaries? ~ Bill Mumy
Film And Television quotes by Bill Mumy
With comics, you don't have to worry so much about budgetary constraints. In film and television, however fanciful you want to be, someone can come up to you and go, 'Okay, this is going to cost X amount of dollars, and we only have so many days to film this.' With graphic novels, you can have that alien invasion you've always wanted to see. ~ John Ridley
Film And Television quotes by John Ridley
Film and television are very different. On the TV show, we do seven or eight scenes a day, so time and money are of the essence, and we have zero room for creativity because you've got to do each scene in only five takes. Whereas, on a film, you have an entire day to film one scene, so you have so much time to choose how you want to fill in a scene. ~ Shailene Woodley
Film And Television quotes by Shailene Woodley
New Rule: There's only one thing to say about the Christian Film and Television Commission giving me the Bigoted Bile Award and naming Religulous the number-one Most Unbearable Movie of 2008: Thank you! You hate me, you really hate me! ~ Bill Maher
Film And Television quotes by Bill Maher
I love working in film and television, but I do miss singing on stage. You can't find that anywhere else, so I hope this opens up a whole new concert world for me. I had so much fun and it went so well, I hope it leads to more. ~ Aaron Tveit
Film And Television quotes by Aaron Tveit
I think where Playground is heading is deeper into that marriage between stage, film and television, with the increasing number of people in the film business working in television, obviously something that we were very influential in starting and doing at HBO. And I think that that's the focus of where I see the company moving forward, continuing to explore that intersection of all that talent. ~ Colin Callender
Film And Television quotes by Colin Callender
For film and television, it's interesting how fans feel that their particular ways of manifesting their affections are the correct ones. It's not just about being a fan, it's about how you perform your fandom. That's always been interesting to me. ~ Carrie Brownstein
Film And Television quotes by Carrie Brownstein
Theater is completely different from film or television. It has a beginning and a middle and an end and it's different every night. And it's far preferable to any other except in the sense of not getting paid, people who want to eat should do film and television. ~ Richard Dreyfuss
Film And Television quotes by Richard Dreyfuss
When I was a kid, I played basketball religiously. I begged my mom to get me voice lessons because I wanted to learn to sing the right way, but at the same time, I was playing Junior Olympic basketball, and I was playing point guard for my school. But I was wanting to get into entertainment, into music and film and television. ~ Justin Timberlake
Film And Television quotes by Justin Timberlake
A lot of the comedians nowadays just do comedy as a stepping stone. Take for example Dane Cook. The guy is huge. The main reason he got into it is to do what he is doing now: film and television work. ~ Gabriel Iglesias
Film And Television quotes by Gabriel Iglesias
I think there are certain technical things about acting that change between working in film and television. Everything definitely slows down and we have more time in film. ~ Thomas McDonell
Film And Television quotes by Thomas McDonell
Since I've worked in film and television for so long, I've acquired the ability to let the version of the characters that lives in my mind make way for the living, breathing humans who are going to play them on screen. If you cast it right - and casting is about 80% of directing - they will eventually replace or exceed the imaginary image. ~ Mark Frost
Film And Television quotes by Mark Frost
A statement: children who watch violent TV programmes tend to be more violent when they grow up. But did the TV cause the violence, or do violent children preferentially enjoy watching violent programmes? Very likely both are true. Commercial defenders of TV violence argue that anyone can distinguish between television and reality. But Saturday morning children's programmes now average 25 acts of violence per hour. At the very least this desensitizes young children to aggression and random cruelty. And if impressionable adults can have false memories implanted in their brains, what are we implanting in our children when we expose them to some 100,000 acts of violence before they graduate from elementary school? ~ Carl Sagan
Film And Television quotes by Carl Sagan
[Daemon's] arms tightened, drew her closer as his hand stroked up and down her back, just for the simple pleasure of it. She sighed. The tension in her muscles eased a bit, and she rested against him more fully.
He wasn't thinking of seduction when his hands began to wander over her - or when her hands hesitantly stroked him.
He wasn't thinking of seduction when his body delighted in how different the silky skin of her neck felt under his mouth compared to the robe beneath his hands.
He wasn't thinking of sex when he opened his robe and then hers so that only that film of spidersilk separated skin from skin. Or when even the spidersilk no longer separated them.
He wasn't thinking of sex when his mouth settled over hers and he sent them both sliding into dark, hot desire. And by the time he found himself in bed, listening to her purr with pleasure while he moved inside her, he wasn't able to think at all. ~ Anne Bishop
Film And Television quotes by Anne Bishop
I remember saying, very almost jokingly, I'm going to take over the world through television, that's my plan. And I said it to my agent, and I said it to my friends, and I said it to myself. ~ Shonda Rhimes
Film And Television quotes by Shonda Rhimes
It wasn't easy being single and pushing forty in a big family group, and he guessed that's what was eating at her. He knew how it felt. He slept alone and he ate alone. He watched television alone and, when he was reading a book and came across an exceptionally good passage, he had nobody to share it with. ~ Shannon Stacey
Film And Television quotes by Shannon Stacey
I was a little bit wary of playing Nicholas. In the script, which I think is true of the novel and the film, he's the only character not singing and dancing in a musical style. Playing someone who is the personification of good is a little difficult. ~ Charlie Hunnam
Film And Television quotes by Charlie Hunnam
In fact, a very similar phrase was invented to account for the sudden transition of wood, metal, plastic and concrete into an explosive condition, which was "nonlinear, catastrophic structural exasperation," or to put it another way
as a junior cabinet minister did on television the following night in a phrase which was to haunt the rest of his career
the check-in desk had just got "fundamentally fed up with being where it was. ~ Douglas Adams
Film And Television quotes by Douglas Adams
My work is made on lines similar to those of a film production. A lot of my work is kind of bureaucratic, endlessly phoning up people, trying to find the cameraman and the lighting man, because I am a total technology-phobe, quite helpless with equipment. ~ Sam Taylor-Wood
Film And Television quotes by Sam Taylor-Wood
I wanted to be an actor because I wanted to be onstage. I wanted to do musical theater, and from that I realized I was interested in plays. I never imagined myself on television. I was so lucky to be onstage my whole life. ~ Jesse Tyler Ferguson
Film And Television quotes by Jesse Tyler Ferguson
I will always continue to make stupid action films but I think 'V For Vendetta' is a very smart film and I think that people will feel differently about things when they see it. ~ Joel Silver
Film And Television quotes by Joel Silver
First the movie, the actual playing of the role and trying to deliver what everybody wanted. Then, when the film came out, there was instant fame. I was just a kid from Sweden, I didn't know what was going on. ~ Dolph Lundgren
Film And Television quotes by Dolph Lundgren
We [Elbow] have had some luck with media syncs in film and on TV. We'd love to do a soundtrack with a really cool director. ~ Guy Garvey
Film And Television quotes by Guy Garvey
I think I was a shy kid. I grew up without television. I had a dog, and we lived up in the White Mountains in the summer, and I had no friends up there. And I would just go play hide-and-seek with my dog and probably had some imaginary friends. ~ Dan Brown
Film And Television quotes by Dan Brown
If chess has any relationship to film-making, it would be in the way it helps you develop patience and discipline in choosing between alternatives at a time when an impulsive decision seems very attractive. ~ Stanley Kubrick
Film And Television quotes by Stanley Kubrick
I heard today (April 5) was the day Kurt passed away 17 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long. So grateful for his contribution and inspiration. Not sure I'd be doing this if it weren't for him. He gave us all permission to create no matter what our skill set and reminded me that dreams are possible. Thanks for that. This made me recall a short piece of film I shot when I heard they were making a film celebrating his life. I made it to explore the character and explore creative possibilities. I never sent it to the studio or to anyone but thought I'd share it now ~ Jared Leto
Film And Television quotes by Jared Leto
I cannot tell you how many quiet mornings I have spent sitting around hotel rooms and furnished apartments in the United States and Mexico, smoking cigarettes, plunking the guitar, and watching Perry Mason
telling myself, Well, at least I don't have a day job. And there is nothing wrong with that. I am not guilty of anything. Perry would see that in a minute. ~ Dave Hickey
Film And Television quotes by Dave Hickey
The question is, 'how bad at sports were you as a kid?' I grew up near where they film Jersey Shore. If you weren't tan, muscular, and book-averse, you were a dork and a nerd and a geek and stuff. I remember being into Gary Larsen, Stephen Wright, Peter Sellers ... ~ Demetri Martin
Film And Television quotes by Demetri Martin
With film, I have to be a team player; it's a whole different thing. I can't just be a one-man show. I have to learn how to use people to the best of their ability and motivate them to be as passionate about the project as I am. ~ Ice Cube
Film And Television quotes by Ice Cube
His terror became his companion. When it seemed to diminish, or grow easier to bear, he forced himself to remember the details of what he had said and done so that his fears returned, redoubled. His previous life, which had been without fear, he now dismissed as an illusion since he had come to believe that only in fear could the truth be found. When he woke from sleep without anxiety, he asked himself, What is wrong? What is missing? And then his door opened slowly, and a child put its head around and gazed at him: there are wheels, Ned thought, wheels within wheels. The curtains were now always closed, for the sun horrified him: he was reminded of a film he had seen some time before, and how the brightness of the noonday light had struck the water where a man, in danger of drowning, was struggling for his life. ~ Peter Ackroyd
Film And Television quotes by Peter Ackroyd
I should go so far as to say that embedded in the surrealistic frame of a television news show is a theory of anticommunication, featuring a type of discourse that abandons logic, reason, sequence and rules of contradiction. In aesthetics, I believe the name given to this theory is Dadaism; in philosophy, nihilism; in psychiatry, schizophrenia. In the parlance of the theater, it is known as vaudeville. ~ Neil Postman
Film And Television quotes by Neil Postman
The whole thrust in my life right now is spinning my assignments around and making them work in a more personal way ( ... ) I wanted to go back and do the original thing: one camera, one lens, one film. You really have to put yourself in a position of danger to be creative. ~ David Alan Harvey
Film And Television quotes by David Alan Harvey
I've always been curious what the negotiation is because obviously there's certain movies that every film wants a trailer on, like Star Wars, and I don't know how Disney makes the decisions as to what it does and doesn't put on there. I'm assuming that whatever movies are the same studio as the film get first priority, but then everybody else is fighting for the remaining spots. ~ Simon Kinberg
Film And Television quotes by Simon Kinberg
I think that too often we, film directors, think that a big epic novel and feature film are the same. It's a lie. A feature film is much closer to a short story actually. ~ Pirjo Honkasalo
Film And Television quotes by Pirjo Honkasalo
I started [in television] as a local sportscaster in Oklahoma City and that will always be my love. It's kind of what I live for. ~ Chris Harrison
Film And Television quotes by Chris Harrison
Happy New Year, Matty." She turned off the television and rolled onto her side. "Matty, I have another question for you." "Uh-oh." "Are you a skilled lover?" "And that concludes our evening chat." "I bet I could be a skilled lover. I'm very energetic. And a quick learner. ~ Jessica Park
Film And Television quotes by Jessica Park
During my first few months of Facebooking, I discovered that my page had fostered a collective nostalgia for specific cultural icons. These started, unsurprisingly, within the realm of science fiction and fantasy. They commonly included a pointy-eared Vulcan from a certain groundbreaking 1960s television show.

Just as often, though, I found myself sharing images of a diminutive, ancient, green and disarmingly wise Jedi Master who speaks in flip-side down English. Or, if feeling more sinister, I'd post pictures of his black-cloaked, dark-sided, heavy-breathing nemesis. As an aside, I initially received from Star Trek fans considerable "push-back," or at least many raised Spock brows, when I began sharing images of Yoda and Darth Vader. To the purists, this bordered on sacrilege.. But as I like to remind fans, I was the only actor to work within both franchises, having also voiced the part of Lok Durd from the animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

It was the virality of these early posts, shared by thousands of fans without any prodding from me, that got me thinking. Why do we love Spock, Yoda and Darth Vader so much? And what is it about characters like these that causes fans to click "like" and "share" so readily?

One thing was clear: Cultural icons help people define who they are today because they shaped who they were as children. We all "like" Yoda because we all loved The Empire Strikes Back, probably watched it many times, and can reci ~ George Takei
Film And Television quotes by George Takei
In fiction film, there are so many trappings - money, glory, champagne and supermodels - that attract the wolves. But in documentary film, there's none of that, so the wolves stay away. The only people who make docs are people who are curious about other people and just like making documentaries. ~ Marshall Curry
Film And Television quotes by Marshall Curry
I rarely meet men in real life as extraordinary as ones on film, and rarely see women on film as extraordinary as ones I know in real life ~ Jen Richards
Film And Television quotes by Jen Richards
I've been a professional athlete, I've directed films, I've run a company with 150 employees, and nothing compares to writing a screenplay. Just the second I think I know what I'm doing, the rug gets pulled out and I have no idea what I'm doing. Because there are so many problems to solve. ~ Stacy Peralta
Film And Television quotes by Stacy Peralta
Quite a few people still listen to vinyl records, use film cameras to take photographs, and look up phone numbers in the printed Yellow Pages. But the old technologies lose their economic and cultural force. They become progress's dead ends. It's the new technologies that govern production and consumption, that guide people's behavior and shape their perceptions. That's why the future of knowledge and culture no longer lies in books or newspapers or TV shows or radio programs or records or CDs. It lies in digital files shot through our universal medium at the speed of light. ~ Nicholas Carr
Film And Television quotes by Nicholas Carr
