We love fantasy novels in which the characters think that they're peasants but turn out to be princes and kings. ~ Matthew Tobin Anderson
Fantasy Novels quotes by Matthew Tobin Anderson
Everything about this place reminded me of the fantasy novels that I'd read when I was little. I'd always wanted to be a part of them, and now it looked like my wish had been granted.
But it would still be a long time until this place felt like home. ~ Aprille Legacy
Fantasy Novels quotes by Aprille Legacy
We have more brilliant fantasy novels than brilliant fantasy movies. Movies and TV are done by committee. But with a novel, it's really just one person running the show. That allows for a clarity and unity of vision that's pretty unique, artistically. ~ Patrick Rothfuss
Fantasy Novels quotes by Patrick Rothfuss
Kneel before the king, Griff." I look around for the king. "Me, asshole. I'm the king. Who else would be the king? Wade?"
[...]
"On this rainy Thursday, I, King Theo of New York City, praise you, Sir Griffin of New York City, for your vast knowledge of fantasy novels I"ll never take the time to read myself. And for having the kind of laugh that I like hearing so much I would punch myself over and over if you found it funny. ~ Adam Silvera
Fantasy Novels quotes by Adam Silvera
I believe that I have now experienced the lifetime maximum exposure to bottom spanking in fantasy novels. ~ James Nicoll
Fantasy Novels quotes by James Nicoll
And this Atlantean Destroyer is now leading the Daimons and sending them out to battle against Acheron, who is just using us and the humans as cannon fodder to protect himself? Really, Kyros, put down the crack pipe ... or go write children's fantasy novels. I'll bet you even know exactly who conspired to kill Kennedy, huh? I'm sure the money from D.B. Cooper is what financed your stunning collection of furniture. (Danger) ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
Fantasy Novels quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
This, since junior school, had been virtually my only experience of women - as fantasy figures. Reading about women in fantasy novels had set me an even more unrealistic point of view. The Lord of the Rings doesn't help, with its sexless visions of elf maidens who may as well be speaking paintings, and neither does other fantasy literature, where women seem to exist solely to be rescued or slept with. The men they want are sorcerer-kings, doomed warriors or deadly assassins. I think the idea that women might fancy good-looking, well-adjusted men who are nice to them is too much for the average fantasy-head to bear. ~ Mark Barrowcliffe
Fantasy Novels quotes by Mark Barrowcliffe
And there are
what
gods of chaos and order, then?"
"That is correct."
"Sounds like a series of rotten fantasy novels."
"Oh no. It is the basis of magic: the imposition of order on formless chaos, the release of joyous chaos into the gray monotony of order ... This is true magic. All else is shadow. ~ Neil Gaiman
Fantasy Novels quotes by Neil Gaiman
I started to write a series of fantasy novels when I was eleven. I have never taken anything artistic as seriously; since then, writing has felt like an attempt to get back there, to my bedroom, my maps, those races and languages and runes. ~ Ken Baumann
Fantasy Novels quotes by Ken Baumann
Every time I complete a major project I reward myself with two full days of just reading and coffee! I do justify that it is my work! ~ Delia J. Colvin
Fantasy Novels quotes by Delia J. Colvin
Why aren't these fantasy novels on display somewhere in my house, where there are a thousand-plus other books stacked across a dozen bookshelves? Because bookshelves do more than just hold up our books. They speak to how we see ourselves, and more obviously how we want others to see us. This is a part of my makeup I don't always show. ~ Matt Bell
Fantasy Novels quotes by Matt Bell
I lied to you,' she said, hanging her head in shame, 'more than once. In fact, I swore that my lies were truth. I can't understand how it could have happened. It just came out of my mouth and by the time I realised what I'd done, it was too late.
'It's never too late to realise that you were mistaken, Sophiel. ~ A.O. Esther
Fantasy Novels quotes by A.O. Esther
Fantasy novels, I don't really gravitate to that part of the bookstore. ~ Peter Dinklage
Fantasy Novels quotes by Peter Dinklage
I was someone who really loved fantasy novels and science fiction novels. ~ Matthew Tobin Anderson
Fantasy Novels quotes by Matthew Tobin Anderson
FEAR IS THE MIND-KILLER. FEAR IS THE LITTLE-DEATH THAT BRINGS TOTAL OBLITERATION. ~ Frank Herbert
Fantasy Novels quotes by Frank Herbert
Many fantasy novels - 'Lord of the Rings', for instance, or 'Lavondyss' by Robert Holdstock - are beautifully written. Geoff Ryman's 'The Child Garden' is exquisite and utterly beguiling. Mervyn Peake's 'Gormenghast' trilogy is an astonishing piece of multi-faceted storytelling. So quality of writing does not condemn the genre. ~ David Gemmell
Fantasy Novels quotes by David Gemmell
I've been very influenced by folklore, fairy tales, and folk ballads, so I love all the classic works based on these things
like George Macdonald's 19th century fairy stories, the fairy poetry of W.B. Yeats, and Sylvia Townsend Warner's splendid book The Kingdoms of Elfin. (I think that particular book of hers wasn't published until the 1970s, not long before her death, but she was an English writer popular in the middle decades of the 20th century.)
I'm also a big Pre-Raphaelite fan, so I love William Morris' early fantasy novels.
Oh, and "Lud-in-the-Mist" by Hope Mirrlees (Neil Gaiman is a big fan of that one too), and I could go on and on but I won't! ~ Terri Windling
Fantasy Novels quotes by Terri Windling
As an adolescent I wrote comic books, because I read lots of them, and fantasy novels set in Malaysia and Central Africa. ~ Umberto Eco
Fantasy Novels quotes by Umberto Eco
Not merely one of the finest fantasy novels of recent years, but one of the finest ever. Should not be missed ~ Brian Stableford
Fantasy Novels quotes by Brian Stableford
Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Fantasy Novels quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
It is practically an axiom in psychiatry that precocious intellect combined with physical weakness can give rise to many unpleasant character traits - avarice, delusions of grandeur , and obsessive masturbation, to name just a few. ~ Sam Savage
Fantasy Novels quotes by Sam Savage
'The Golden Compass' became a bad experience because the studio didn't have faith in the strength of the ideas of the novel, which is ironic because it's one of the greatest fantasy novels ever written, if not the greatest, and they took the religion out of it and tried to turn it into a popcorn movie. ~ Chris Weitz
Fantasy Novels quotes by Chris Weitz
I'm a geek - I read fantasy novels, I play 'World of Warcraft,' I'm a massive gamer, I have 'Star Trek' outfits. ~ Robert Kazinsky
Fantasy Novels quotes by Robert Kazinsky
Ah, adventure! Ah, romance! Ah, courtly graces and the noble gestures! Don't you wish you knew people like that? Don't you wish we could still walk around in cloaks and boots and breeches, with leather doublets and flowing white dueling shirts and swords strapped around our waists? Of course, if we did, given the way things are today, there'd be people out there lobbying for sword control, and we'd need a National Sword Association and bumper stickers that would read "Swords don't kill people, knights kill people," and there would be a five-day waiting period and background check before you could buy a rapier. We'd have drive-by lungings and people would be afraid of children carrying broadswords to school. "Milady" would be regard as a sexist term and feminists would go absolutely berserk if any woman called a man "Milord." Ralph Nader would probably get quarter horses banned because they are too small and unsafe in a collision and someone would figure out a way to put seat belts and air bags on our saddles. That's why people join the SCA and read fantasy novels, because the real world sucks. ~ Simon Hawke
Fantasy Novels quotes by Simon Hawke
A reviewer once commented that my urban fantasy novels were paced more like epic fantasy, in that they relied on complex world-building and a gradual immersion in the lives of the characters. ~ Laura Anne Gilman
Fantasy Novels quotes by Laura Anne Gilman
Hey, laugh all you want, but I grew up poor in backwoods Florida, with an immigrant, single mom. I'm the only person in my family who learned to read, and that was only because of comic books at first, and then fantasy novels and an active imagination. I got addicted to them when I was a kid and read like crazy. I must have read thousands of them. So I've been reading about elves and that kind of thing for twenty plus years. I can't help it if I'm excited." "You were a geek," she said. "Well, I guess." "I bet you played Dungeons and Dragons in a friend's garage." "Well, yeah." "Nerd. ~ Larry Correia
Fantasy Novels quotes by Larry Correia
When you're 14, anything with a sword and a dragon is pretty cool. But when you're 21 and you've read 2,000 fantasy novels, you start to realize that some of those books, well, they weren't really good. OK, let's be honest. A lot of them were crap. ~ Patrick Rothfuss
Fantasy Novels quotes by Patrick Rothfuss
As I tried to rub away the goose bumps, I noticed a door that looked different from the others. The door looked older than the rest and had a plaque that read: Mistress Lillie White, Head of Paranormal Societies. I hesitated before opening the door. Paranormal Societies? I'd been a fan of the paranormal for years, had even written extensively about werewolves and vampires in my urban fantasy novels, but even I didn't believe much of what I researched about the paranormal. ~ Cora Maxine
Fantasy Novels quotes by Cora Maxine
Not for the first time, the thought occurred to Hirou that if he'd actually known he was going to be transported into a magical universe, informed he was the long-lost heir to the Throne of Bronze, handed the legendary Sword of Good, and told to fight evil, he would have spent less time reading fantasy novels. Joined the army, maybe. Taken fencing lessons, at least. If there was one thing that didn't prepare you for fantasy real life, it was sitting at home reading fantasy fiction. ~ Eliezer Yudkowsky
Fantasy Novels quotes by Eliezer Yudkowsky
No one will ever write a fantasy novel better than The Hobbit. ~ R.A. Salvatore
Fantasy Novels quotes by R.A. Salvatore
I've done a lot of books with Asian antecedents to them - some of my fantasy novels have been that way, and certainly in the 'Battletech' universe, there's a lot of Asian culture in that. ~ Michael A. Stackpole
Fantasy Novels quotes by Michael A. Stackpole
I've read every single fantasy novel there is. I mean, I would challenge a lot of people to read more fantasy novels than I have. ~ Felicia Day
Fantasy Novels quotes by Felicia Day
People don't read anymore. And, when they do, they don't read books like this one, but instead read books that depress them, because those books are seen as important. Somehow, the Librarians have successfully managed to convince most people in the Hushlands that they shouldn't read anything that isn't boring.
It comes down to Biblioden the Scrivener's great vision for the world - a vision in which people never do anything abnormal, never dream, and never experience anything strange. His minions teach people to stop reading fun books, and instead focus on fantasy novels. That's what I call them, because these books keep people trapped. Keep them inside the nice little fantasy that they consider to be the 'real' world. A fantasy that tells them they don't need to try something new.
After all, trying new things can be difficult. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Fantasy Novels quotes by Brandon Sanderson
Consensus wisdom has it that all modern commercial fantasy novels fall into two camps: those derived from J.R.R. Tolkien and those derived from Mervyn Peake. The 'Lord of the Rings' template or the 'Gormenghast' mold. ~ Paul Di Filippo
Fantasy Novels quotes by Paul Di Filippo
Fantasy novels reveal "emergency escape routes" from reality. Romance novels dish out a banquet of Eye Candy. Otherworldly passion erupts when the two collide in an epic novel of unforgettable characters and dire circumstances. ~ Sarah J. Pepper
Fantasy Novels quotes by Sarah J. Pepper
I wrote seven Myron Bolitar novels in a row, and I never want to write a Myron book where he just solves a crime. Every one of them I want to be personal, and I want him to grow and change. The problem with that is, it makes the series limited, you can't write a series where a guy is always going through some kind of crisis. ~ Harlan Coben
Fantasy Novels quotes by Harlan Coben
Who reigns up high?
A dead man's sigh
What sleeps below?
A crown of woe
That is the Tower:
Learn and cower."
– Extract from 'And So I Dreamt I Was Awake', Sherehazad the Seer ~ ErraticErrata
Fantasy Novels quotes by ErraticErrata
I hope the average woman feels she needs practicality but with a little bit of fantasy. Otherwise, it's just not fashion. ~ Francisco Costa
Fantasy Novels quotes by Francisco Costa
The problems of the past.
How the problems of the past, uncorrected, inevitably became the problems of the future. ~ Erika Johansen
Fantasy Novels quotes by Erika Johansen
True, I talk of dreams,
Which are the children of an idle brain,
Begot of nothing but vain fantasy,
Which is as thin of substance as the air,
And more inconstant than the wind, who woos
Even now the frozen bosom of the north,
And, being anger'd, puffs away from thence,
Turning his side to the dew-dropping south. ~ William Shakespeare
Fantasy Novels quotes by William Shakespeare
He and she become selective at different points; she can be selective when he wants his primary fantasy - sex; he can be selective when she wants her primary fantasy - commitment. ~ Warren Farrell
Fantasy Novels quotes by Warren Farrell
When I am alone with God I see that God is really all I have. All that matters. All that will last. At these times I realize that the magnitude of what I have is incomprehensible. Usually I cry for the sheer joy of it. Not tears of defeat, but rather tears of gratitude. ~ Pola Muzyka
Fantasy Novels quotes by Pola Muzyka
As a writer I have persisted in my uncertainty, alternating between novels which could charitably be considered literature and world reporting which by another stretch of objective standards might be called history. ~ James A. Michener
Fantasy Novels quotes by James A. Michener
I have lost stories and many starts of novels before. Not always as punishment for 'telling,' but more often as a result of something having gone cold and dead because of a hiatus. Telling, you see, is the same as a hiatus. It means you're not doing it. ~ Cynthia Ozick
Fantasy Novels quotes by Cynthia Ozick
Characters are the key to a good book. It took me several novels to comprehend that. ~ Michael Morpurgo
Fantasy Novels quotes by Michael Morpurgo
Me, I was already jaded and tarnished, skeptical that a fantasy world could keep reality at bay. ~ Jodi Picoult
Fantasy Novels quotes by Jodi Picoult
I've always had a fantasy to write a cookbook, because everyone wants to know what a model eats. ~ Padma Lakshmi
Fantasy Novels quotes by Padma Lakshmi
I'm serious, Jim. You need to put this crap away. You walk into school on Monday talking to me, or anyone else, about the city's pesky troll problem, and you're not exactly going to get a lot of people saying, 'Gee, thanks for the warning.' It'll spread faster than mono. You think things are tough for us now? Jim, this will be the end. I'm sorry if you had a crazy nightmare. I really am. But I can't let you ruin our lives. ~ Guillermo Del Toro
Fantasy Novels quotes by Guillermo Del Toro
I think best on two wheels ~ Kenneth L. Decroo
Fantasy Novels quotes by Kenneth L. Decroo
Fantasy is storytelling with the beguiling power to transform the impossible into the imaginable, and to reveal our own "real" world in a fresh and truth-bearing light. ~ Leonard S. Marcus
Fantasy Novels quotes by Leonard S. Marcus
One of the novels that was hardest for me to write had to deal with the horrible slaughter of war. I almost didn't finish Rebels of the Heavenly Kingdom for just that reason. ~ Katherine Paterson
Fantasy Novels quotes by Katherine Paterson
I'm sure there are people who are content to run errands and report for work on time and wait, with an enlivening eagerness, for the lunch bell. I wish them well. They have, however, never been the subjects of novels, and in all likelihood, will never be. ~ Michael Cunningham
Fantasy Novels quotes by Michael Cunningham
I love young adult fantasies. While I say that, I have not seen all of the Twilight and Harry Potter movies. But I've read all of the books, and I love them. I love them because I enjoy being transported to a different world and having my imagination challenged. That's a huge part of what we do as actors. We have to imagine ourselves in a different world. And when you are in a young adult fantasy, it challenges you in the best way. ~ Viola Davis
Fantasy Novels quotes by Viola Davis
In our lands, the prophesies say:
'Offered then denied,
Bride of Morning,
Dark's only hope of peace.
A deal with death he strikes,
And from his mouth springs truth
To save the morning light.' ~ Sarah K.L. Wilson
Fantasy Novels quotes by Sarah K.L. Wilson
Men read either the novels it is possible to respect, or detective stories. But their consumption of detective stories is terrific. ~ George Orwell
Fantasy Novels quotes by George Orwell
Political novels are full of pitfalls, particularly for a novelist with strong political leanings. ~ Phil Klay
Fantasy Novels quotes by Phil Klay
I already read everything. I read poems and plays and novels and newspapers and comic books and magazines. I read tins in supermarkets and leaflets that come through the door, unsolicited mail. None of it lasts long and it doesn't give me answers. Reading too fast is not soothing. ~ Janice Galloway
Fantasy Novels quotes by Janice Galloway
Now you mustn't think that I don't have any ideas for novels in my head. I've got ideas for ten novels in my head. But with every idea I have, I already foresee the wrong novels I would write, because I also have critical ideas in my head; I've got a full theory of the perfect novel, and that's what stumps me. ~ Italo Calvino
Fantasy Novels quotes by Italo Calvino
You pathetic humans! It escapes me how you endure any trial long enough even to breed, yet here you are. And why do your kind persist at all? Because every now and then - once a century, perhaps - ONE of you understands this: Death is what you accept only when you have spent all that you are - to the very last drop of your sweat and blood - in order to save what you love. That, son of Koronolan, is what a hero, a true warrior, would do. ~ Helen C. Johannes
Fantasy Novels quotes by Helen C. Johannes
The way he looked at her was almost predatory, and she was more than happy to be his prey.
"You look beautiful," he said softly. ~ Paige Tyler
Fantasy Novels quotes by Paige Tyler
None of us could choose our birth, but we could still chose our family, and only those who love you are your true family. ~ Meg Xuemei X
Fantasy Novels quotes by Meg Xuemei X
He appears close to my age. The left half of his face stands out beneath the hood: one side of plump lips, one squared angle of a chin. Two coppery-colored eyes look back at me – bright and metallic. The sight makes me do a double take. As far as he is from the car, I shouldn't be able to make out the color, yet they glimmer in the shadow of his cape, like pennies catching a flashlight's glare in a deep well. ~ A.G. Howard
Fantasy Novels quotes by A.G. Howard
Holding fantasy to our chests only means our hands are not free to work. ~ Thomm Quackenbush
Fantasy Novels quotes by Thomm Quackenbush
I am the Queen of Elfhame.
Even though I am the queen in exile, I am still the queen.
And that means Madoc isn't just trying to take Cardon's throne.
He's trying to take mine. ~ Holly Black
Fantasy Novels quotes by Holly Black
A story just isn't a story without a dragon. ~ H.B. Bolton
Fantasy Novels quotes by H.B. Bolton
The only time I felt like a weird exploiter - even though I knew I wasn't one - was when I was writing a sex scene between me and my adorable co-star [Adam Driver] in which he had to tell me how much he loved my potbelly. It seemed like a weird wish-fulfillment thing, where I'm directing my own fantasy. ~ Lena Dunham
Fantasy Novels quotes by Lena Dunham
He didn't get it. That's exactly why I needed my Maker's Mark. You can't throw my life into turmoil, and then screw me out of my bourbon too. ~ Donna Augustine
Fantasy Novels quotes by Donna Augustine
And you're an author?" Richard asked, knowing very well that Graham was indeed G.M. Russell. "I'm sorry, I'm not exactly sure I've heard of your novels. I don't think I've ever read anything you've published." He was being oddly aggressive, making the whole situation uncomfortable.
"That's fine," Graham responded. "Enough other people have, so your lack of awareness doesn't inflict any damage on my success. ~ Brittainy C. Cherry
Fantasy Novels quotes by Brittainy C. Cherry
But in fantasy, you can make a complete break, and you can put people in a situation where they are confronted with things that they would not confront in the real world. ~ Elizabeth Moon
Fantasy Novels quotes by Elizabeth Moon
His hand trailed down the side of her face, brushing back spiraling tendrils of hair. Come, shei'tani, dance the skiles with your mate. ~ C.L. Wilson
Fantasy Novels quotes by C.L. Wilson
It's still horrible to wish the worst on anyone. I'm sure she had her reasons. Maybe people hurt her feelings, the same way I was hurt. A single word can feel like a rock being thrown at you. ~ Alice Hoffman
Fantasy Novels quotes by Alice Hoffman
At the time of solitude, I went where Narmada was sleeping. She got awake and sat up. She neither got scared nor nervous but she immediately got off the bed. She kept both her hands tied on her chest. I was standing so close to her that my face was near her face. We could sense each other's breath.

I called out her name and could not speak anything else.

After a moment, I started - "I love you Narmada…I like to be with you…I want to marry you."

She got nervous and said - "Please, go to your room, why have you come here? It may cause trouble if Jaanki sees us like this." She was neck down. Her eyes were on the floor. Her heart was beating fast.

"Don't you want to talk to me? Why are you angry with me? Why don't you trust on my feelings for you?" - I softly asked her.

"I guess you don't like my friendship with Varsha. You and Varsha are poles apart." - I added.

She said - "You please go. It would not be nice if someone sees us like this. I do not want anything from you."

I said - "But I am dying for you and I know you too are made for me."

Her eyes suddenly fell on maid behind the curtains of the door who was trying to listen to our conversation. Narmada said - "You please leave right now, we'll talk later. Mom is not at home."

I went by on her prescriptive tone.

She was fighting for her self-being and the reason was only Varsha. She felt suffocated with my friendshi ~ Laxman Rao
Fantasy Novels quotes by Laxman Rao
Dragons were notoriously finicky about whom they ate, and thought it the height of bad manners to be kept waiting by their selected fare. ~ Sully Tarnish
Fantasy Novels quotes by Sully Tarnish
The first rule in the book of love is acceptance. ~ Destinee Hardwick
Fantasy Novels quotes by Destinee Hardwick
If it's only a kiss you want, I can kiss you with my clothes on." Katie O'Reilly to Captain Lord Blackthorn in "Titanic Rhasody. ~ Jina Bacarr
Fantasy Novels quotes by Jina Bacarr
The first unanalysed impression that most readers receive from Jane Eyre is that it has a very violent atmosphere. If this were simply the effect of the plot and the imagined events then sensation novels like Walpole's The Castle of Otranto or Mrs Radcliffe's The Mystery of Udolpho ought to produce it even more powerfully.
But they do not. Nor do they even arouse particularly strong reader responses. Novelists like Charlotte Brontë or D. H. Lawrence, on the other hand, are able quite quickly to provoke marked reactions of sympathy or hostility from readers. The reason, apparently, is
that the narrator's personality is communicating itself through the style with unusual directness. ~ Ian Gregor
Fantasy Novels quotes by Ian Gregor
Daisuke was of course equipped with conversation that, even if they went further, would allow him to retreat as if nothing had happened. He had always wondered at the conversations recorded in Western novels, for to him they were too bald, too self indulgent, and moreover, too unsubtly rich. However they read in the original, he thought they reflected a taste that could not be translated into Japanese. Therefore, he had not the slightest intention of using imported phrases to develop his relationship with Michiyo. Between the two of them at least, ordinary words sufficed perfectly well. But the danger was of slipping from point A to point B without realizing it. Daisuke managed to stand his ground only by a hair's breadth. When he left, Michiyo saw him to the entranceway and said, "Do come again, please? It's so lonely. ~ Soseki Natsume
Fantasy Novels quotes by Soseki Natsume
Eve of Darkness is a sizzling, heart-pounding urban fantasy that thrilled and fascinated me from beginning to end. It's got smokin' hot angels, blood-chilling demons, and questions that go deeper than who's kicking whose butt. Eve is a smart, spirited heroine I won't soon forget! ~ Jeri Smith-Ready
Fantasy Novels quotes by Jeri Smith-Ready
Karl Marx predicted the eventual withering away of the state and the 'dictatorship of the proletariat,' when the people would rule, which was sheer fantasy because it was sheer fantasy because it was based on grossly erroneous assumptions about human nature, as history would repeatedly demonstrate. ~ David Limbaugh
Fantasy Novels quotes by David Limbaugh
Long before I was old enough for "the talk," Mom told me about sex. She said she'd had lots of it in her life, but married sex was probably her favorite. Still Mom also warned me not to expect fireworks like in the ones in Mister Heist's romance novels every time. Some nights, even two old friends deciding to get as close as humanly possible could still be worlds apart. ~ Brain Vaughan
Fantasy Novels quotes by Brain Vaughan
I was still hoping that it might be a phase, that I'd wake up the next day and be normal. In the best of times, it seemed like such a short leap. I did fantasize about having a girlfriend - never the sex part, but the rest of it I had down. I knew what she'd look like and how she'd hold her long hair back from the flame when bending over a lit candle. I imagined us getting married the summer after I graduated from college, and then I imagined her drowning off the coast of North Carolina during one of my family's vacations. Everyone needed to be there so they could see just how devastated I was. I could actually make myself cry by picturing it: How I'd carry her out of the water, how my feet would sink into the sand owing to the extra weight. I'd try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and keep trying until someone, my father most often, would pull me back, saying, "It's too late, son. Can't you see she's gone?"

It seemed I wanted to marry just so I could be a widower. So profound would be my grief that I'd never look at another woman again. It was perfect, really. Oh, there were variations. Sometimes she'd die of leukemia, as in the movie Love Story. Occasionally a madman's bullet would fell her during a hostage situation, but always I'd be at her side, trying everything in my power to bring her back.

The fantasy remained active until I was twenty. Funny how unimportant being gay became once I told somebody. All I had to do was open up to my best friend, and w ~ David Sedaris
Fantasy Novels quotes by David Sedaris
The metal thing was hammered and shaped half-crescent, half-cross.Around the rim of the
main rod little curlicues and doohingies had been soldered on, later. The entire surface of the rod was finely scratched and etched with strange languages, names that could tie the tongue or break the jaw, numerals that added to incomprehensible sums, pictographs of insect animals all bristle, chaff, and claw" (Bradbury 6). In this quote, Bradbury is giving us and showing what the character is describing, In this case, it is an Egyptian Scarab. How the quote was described was to attract the eyes of Jim, or even the readers. ~ Ray Bradbury
Fantasy Novels quotes by Ray Bradbury
You're not winged because you are flying on a dragon ~ Cass Ark Galleas
