As I look back now on my coaching career, I think of my family, I think of the days that we spent together. I say this to coaches everywhere: If you ever have a chance to take your kids with you, take them. Don't miss that opportunity. Because when it's all over and done with, when you look back, those are going to be your fondest memories. ~ John Madden

Family Memories quotes by Josie Bissett
The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before - colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter. ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Family Memories quotes by Dieter F. Uchtdorf
What is a family, after all, except memories? Haphazard and precious as the contents of a catch-all drawer in the kitchen. ~ Joyce Carol Oates
Family Memories quotes by Joyce Carol Oates
They'd sat under the starlight and shared quiet conversation and had both read together during the day, happy amidst all of nature's splendor. On the days the urge to run away grew too strong to bear, she remembered for dear life. ~ Katherine McIntyre
Family Memories quotes by Katherine McIntyre
There were thieves and hypocrites among us, to be sure, and true saints sprinkled here and there, but most were simply good, honest people who worshiped their Creator the best they knew how. We were a family. ~ Donna Chapman Gilbert
Family Memories quotes by Donna Chapman Gilbert

Reading is one of the best ways to bond with your child. Bond this Christmas with "It's Not About You, Mr. Santa Claus ~ Soraya Diase Coffelt
Family Memories quotes by Soraya Diase Coffelt
There are many memories. but I'll tell you the one I like to think of best of all. It's just a homely everyday thing, but to me it is the happiest of them all. It is evening time here in the old house and the supper is cooking and the table is set for the whole family. It hurts a mother, Laura, when the plates begin to be taken away one by one. First there are seven and then six and then five...and on down to a single plate. So I like to think of the table set for the whole family at supper time. The robins are singing in the cottonwoods and the late afternoon sun is shining across the floor... The children are playing out in the yard. I can hear their voices and happy laughter. There isn't much to that memory is there? Out of a lifetime of experiences you would hardly expect that to be the one I would choose as the happiest, would you? But it is. ~ Bess Streeter Aldrich
Family Memories quotes by Bess Streeter Aldrich
I was raised in a Catholic family, spent twelve years in parochial schools, and had extremely fond memories of my interactions with Catholic clergy. ~ Jennifer Haigh
Family Memories quotes by Jennifer Haigh
Following her instructions, I joined her in the chopping and mixing. The magical smell of pickling spices wound around us and it wasn't long before we were in another world. I was suddenly immersed in the hand-written recipes Mother resurrected from the back of the Hoosier cabinet--in the cheesecloth filled with mustard seed and pungent dill. As we followed the recipes her mother had followed and her mother before that, we talked--as the afternoon wore on I was listening to preserve the stories in my mind. 'I can remember watching my grandmother and mother rushing around this same old kitchen, putting up all kinds of vegetables--their own hand-sown, hand-picked crops--for the winter. My grandmother would tell her stories about growing up right here, on this piece of land--some were hilarious and some were tragic.' Pots still steamed on the stove, but Mother's attention seemed directed backwards as she began to speak about the past. She spoke with a slow cadence, a rhythm punctuated (or maybe inspired) by the natural symphony around us. ~ Leslie Goetsch
Family Memories quotes by Leslie Goetsch
Probably the earliest memories for me would be going to restaurants with my family. ~ Alexander Wang
Family Memories quotes by Alexander Wang
And the pomegranates,/
like memories, are bittersweet/
as we huddle together,/

Family Memories quotes by Josie Bissett
Demons do like to take up residence in ruins, especially those where there are remnants of black magic," said Christopher. "And we all know what Grandfather Benedict was up to in that house. It's why he turned into a worm."
"Ah," said Matthew, "fond family memories. ~ Cassandra Clare
Family Memories quotes by Cassandra Clare
The NFL is such a large, multibillion dollar enterprise with fan loyalty because they have provided not only entertainment for sports fans, but memories, good memories, family memories to these fans, that can only bring about good will. ~ Wendell Pierce
Family Memories quotes by Wendell Pierce
Reunions are always fraught with awkward tensions - the necessity to account for oneself; the attempt to find, through memories, an ember of the old emotions ... ~ Anita Shreve
Family Memories quotes by Anita Shreve
My grandfather was a newspaper publisher and his paper had all the comics in NYC, so some of my earliest memories are of reading the family paper and heading straight for the comics insert. ~ Rick Moody
Family Memories quotes by Rick Moody
My parents seemed incredibly special and outrageously handsome to me then. ~ Gabrielle Hamilton
Family Memories quotes by Gabrielle Hamilton
Roebling rejoined the Army of the Potomac in February 1863 back at Fredericksburg, where he was quartered late one night in an old stone jail, from which he would emerge the following morning with a story that would be told in the family for years and years to come. The place had little or no light, it seems, and Roebling, all alone, groping his way about, discovered an old chest that aroused his curiosity. He lifted the lid and reaching inside, his hand touched a stone-cold face. The lid came back down with a bang. Deciding to investigate no further, he cleared a place on the floor, stretched out, and went to sleep. At daybreak he opened the chest to see what sort of corpse had been keeping him company through the night and found instead a stone statue of George Washington's mother that had been stored away for safekeeping. ~ David McCullough
Family Memories quotes by David McCullough
I know I grew up in the time when a young man in a baggy suit and slicked-down hair stood spraddle-legged in the crossroads of history and talked hot and mean about the colored, giving my poor and desperate people a reason to feel superior to somebody, to anybody. I know that even as the words of George Wallace rang through my Alabama, the black family who lived down the dirt road from our house sent fresh-picked corn and other food to the poor white lady and her three sons, because they knew their daddy had run off, because hungry does not have a color. ~ Rick Bragg
Family Memories quotes by Rick Bragg
Mothers are inscrutable beings to their sons, always. ("The Higgler") ~ A.E. Coppard
Family Memories quotes by A.E. Coppard
Today, what most people live in, or with, is the less-than-nuclear family. Working fathers are absent from home during most of the day, the children are schooled outside it, and practically all women who work for money must go outside to earn their living. ~ Elizabeth Janeway
Family Memories quotes by Elizabeth Janeway
Raffe: "The unruliness of the women in your family must go back for generations. You're like a plague upon the land."
Penryn: "So long as we're also a plague upon angels, I'm sure everyone else will forgive us."
Raffe: "Oh, you're definitely a plague upon at least one angel. ~ Susan Ee
Family Memories quotes by Susan Ee
My father never talked about the sacrifices that the family made for me. ~ Novak Djokovic
Family Memories quotes by Novak Djokovic
No doubt, the White House thinks the American people know Obama's story. But since the Inauguration, we've seen only the president's present: his perfect family, his Ivy League elegance, his effortless mastery of complex issues. We never see him sweat. And we forget that he ever had to struggle. ~ Dee Dee Myers
Family Memories quotes by Dee Dee Myers
But memories aren't like photographs; they can't halt the passing of time. Instead, they lay like footsteps along a path each determined by the step that came before and colored by the ones to follow. ~ Allen Eskens
Family Memories quotes by Allen Eskens
The Cadillac Escalade is the perfect vehicle for a pimp with a growing family. ~ Dana Gould
Family Memories quotes by Dana Gould
She told me she believes that sometimes she comes close to waking; if she sits very, very still, she says she can glimpse beyond the veil; she can see and hear her family going about their usual business, oblivious to her standing on the other side, watching them. At least now I understand why the child exhibits such a profound quiet and stillness. ~ Kate Morton
Family Memories quotes by Kate Morton
A disciple said to him, "I am ready, in the quest for God , to give up anything: wealth, friends, family, country, life itself. What else can a person give up?" The Master calmly replied, "One's beliefs about God. ~ Anthony De Mello
Family Memories quotes by Anthony De Mello
I was raised in a family where my father was the first one to go to college. ~ Jim Gaffigan
Family Memories quotes by Jim Gaffigan
My whole family knows I can't sing. My voice, my sister says, is just left of the key. Just right of the tune. But I sing anyway, whenever I can. ~ Jacqueline Woodson
Family Memories quotes by Jacqueline Woodson
Frank Gresham, when twitted with being a Whig, foreswore the de Courcy family; and then, when ridiculed as having been thrown over by the Tories, foreswore his father's old friends. So ~ Anthony Trollope
Family Memories quotes by Anthony Trollope
Growing up in a family of actors, what's great about it is that they're very supportive and they understand what it's like to be an actor - the rejections, the highs and lows ... and having a common language with them is great because you have shorthand speech. ~ Chris Pine
Family Memories quotes by Chris Pine
Imagine living in abject poverty and not knowing anything other than that for generations. Or alternatively, imagine being born into a really wealthy family, but there was no real love. Everyone's living these extraordinary, interesting lives whether they know it or not. ~ Annie Lennox
Family Memories quotes by Annie Lennox
Family is not to who you are born;
Family is to who you love. ~ Gillian Duce
Family Memories quotes by Gillian Duce
The American family is failing in its job of turning out stable human beings ... It is failing because Americans do not dare to cultivate in themselves those characteristics which would make family life creative and rewarding. To do so, would ruin them financially. ~ Margaret Halsey
Family Memories quotes by Margaret Halsey
Qinghua was first established as a preparatory school in 1911. In 1928, it became a university. In 1929, my father joined Qinghua as a professor, so that was also the year that I moved to that campus because my father brought the whole family along. ~ Chen-Ning Yang
Family Memories quotes by Chen-Ning Yang
Since the day I was born, wrestling has sustained me and my family. It's the way my father fed me; it's the way I feed my kids. More importantly, wrestling is my greatest release. It's been such a blessing for me. I can step into the ring and let it all go - all my anger, all my frustration, all my pain. ~ Eddie Guerrero
Family Memories quotes by Eddie Guerrero
When I was on 'One Life to Live,' I always wanted to delve into my character, Layla, to find out why she was the black sheep of the family. I so wanted to have some edge. I have no idea why there was a reluctance to do that or why we so rarely see it. ~ Tika Sumpter
Family Memories quotes by Tika Sumpter
Around the time they were preparing Jose Arcadio for the seminary she had already made a detailed recapitulation of life in the house since the founding of Macondo and had completely changed the opinion that she had always had of its descendants. She realized that Colonel Aureliano Buendia had not lost his love for the family because he had been hardened by the war, as she had thought before, but that he had never loved anyone... Amaranta, however, whose hardness of heart frightened her, whose concentrated bitterness made her bitter, suddenly became clear to her in the final analysis as the most tender woman who had ever existed, and she understood with pitying clarity that the unjust tortures to which she had submitted Pietro Crespi had not been dictated by a desire for vengeance, as everyone had thought, nor had the slow martyrdom with which she had frustrated the life of Colonel Gerineldo Marquez been determined by the gall of her bitterness, as everyone had thought, but that both actions had been a mortal struggle between a measureless love and an invincible cowardice, and that the irrational fear that Amaranta had always had of her own tormented heart had triumphed in the end. It was during that time that Ursula began to speak Rebeca's name, bringing back the memory of her with an old love that was exalted by tardy repentance and a sudden admiration, coming to understand that only she, Rebeca , the one who had never fed of her milk but only of the earth of the land and t ~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Family Memories quotes by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
ASSOCIATIVE MEMORY
In Proust's Swann's Way a sip of tea and a bite of a small scallopshaped cake known as a petite madeleine cause the narrator to find himself suddenly flooded with memories from his past. At first he is puzzled, but then, slowly, after much effort on his part, he remembers that his aunt used to give him tea and madeleines when he was a little boy, and it is this association that has stirred his memory. We have all had similar experiences - a whiff of a particular food being prepared, or a glimpse of some long-forgotten object - that suddenly evoke some scene out of our past. The holographic idea offers a further analogy for the associative tendencies of memory. This is illustrated by yet another kind of holographic recording technique. First, the light of a single laser beam is bounced off two objects simultaneously, say an easy chair and a smoking pipe. The light bounced off each object is then allowed to collide, and the resulting interference pattern is captured on film. Then, whenever the easy chair is illuminated with laser light and the light that reflects off the easy chair is passed through the film, a three-dimensional image of the pipe will appear. Conversely, whenever the same is done with the pipe, a hologram of the easy chair appears. So, if our brains function holographically, a similar process may be responsible for the way certain objects evoke specific memories from our past ~ Michael Talbot
Family Memories quotes by Michael Talbot
I would give everything if I could only keep my family. ~ Johnny Depp
Family Memories quotes by Johnny Depp
Charlotte!" said Glenda, one Thursday afternoon while she was washing dishes. "You didn't scrape out your leftover cereal this morning. It's disgusting. Come and scrape it out now."
"I can't," called Charlotte from the computer in the next room. "I'm too busy blowing things up. If I don't blow up ten things in the next five seconds, I'll die! ~ Jennifer Lott
Family Memories quotes by Jennifer Lott
You are dead weight. You are always trying to bring me down to your miserable state of mind. I am not going down that path - You are going to travel down that road alone. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Family Memories quotes by Charlena E. Jackson

"I wish you'd get married," Mrs. Glass said, abruptly, wistfully. '
Everyone in the Glass family-Zooey certainly not last was familiar with this sort of non-sequitur from Mrs. Glass. It bloomed best, most sublimely, in the middle of an emotional flareup of just this kind. This time, it caught Zooey very much off guard, however. He gave an explosive sound, mostly through the nose, of either laughter or the opposite of laughter. Mrs. Glass quickly and anxiously leaned forward to see which it was. It was laughter, more ~ J.D. Salinger
Family Memories quotes by J.D. Salinger
We are created for community, fashioned for fellowship, and formed for a family, and none of us can fulfill God's purposes by ourselves. ~ Rick Warren
Family Memories quotes by Rick Warren
I have been hit from all sides, and I'm only human. They have ended up talking about the way I look, and it hurts. I have a family, and they suffer, too. It has gone over the limit, and I am tired of it. I have a wife and child, too, and I am not prepared to go on putting up with it English journalists. ~ Luis Suarez
Family Memories quotes by Luis Suarez
A rubber plant is just about the ideal family. ~ Haruki Murakami
Family Memories quotes by Haruki Murakami
And now at the airport, after shaking hands with everybody, waving good-bye, I think about all the different ways we leave people in this world. Cheerily waving good-bye to some at airports, knowing we'll never see each other again. Leaving others on the side of the road, hoping that we will. Finding my mother in my father's story and saying good-bye before before I have a chance to know her better. ~ Amy Tan
Family Memories quotes by Amy Tan
You have to make a choice to either let the questions that are haunting you make you a better person or haunt you for the rest of your life. If you chose to let them haunt you, then guess what? It's not going to change the situation because you still won't have the answers to those questions. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Family Memories quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
Once upon a time we'd been an almost perfect family. I wish we could rewind, go back to live in those years forever. ~ Emily X.R. Pan
Family Memories quotes by Emily X.R. Pan
There had been three of them once: James, then a sister named Fonsiba, then Lucas, children of Aunt Tomey's Turl, old Carother McCaslin's son, and Tennie Beauchamp, whom Edmonds' great-uncle Amodeus McCaslin won from a neighbor in a poker game in 1859. . .But James, the eldest, ran away before he became of age and didn't stop until he had crossed the Ohio River and they never heard from or of him again at all––that is, that his white kindred ever knew. It was as though he had not only. . .put running water between himself and the land of his grandmother's betrayal and his father's nameless birth, but he had interposed latitude and geography too, shaking from his feet forever the very dust of the land where his white ancestor could acknowledge or repudiate him from one day to another, according to his whim, but where he dared not even repudiate the white ancestor save when it met the white man's humor of the moment. ~ William Faulkner
Family Memories quotes by William Faulkner
I have always felt like a loved, valued and equal member of my family. ~ Stella Young
Family Memories quotes by Stella Young
We read about secret lives that people have on the Internet, or alternate lives of a serial killer where the whole family didn't know that their dad or their brother or their child was that. There are all the things in our heart that no one really knows, and I thought that that was interesting territory to explore. ~ Catherine Hardwicke
Family Memories quotes by Catherine Hardwicke
It means I don't have to charter that big jet for the family. ~ Shaquille O'Neal
Family Memories quotes by Shaquille O'Neal
When I think of Arsenal, my favourite personal memory that I recall is scoring my first goal for the Club - away to Lazio in the Champions League. It was important because when you join a new club, you really want to score your first goal. It's where everything started for me at this club ~ Robert Pires
Family Memories quotes by Robert Pires
Families, can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em .. ~ Tate Hallaway
Family Memories quotes by Tate Hallaway
I took the wife's family out for tea biscuits. They weren't too happy about having to give blood though. ~ Les Dawson
Family Memories quotes by Les Dawson
Just when you thought the mafia novel was dead, Tod Goldberg breathes new life into it. Gangsterland, the best mafia novel in years, is a dark, funny, and smart page-turning crime story. It's also a moving, thoughtful meditation on ethics, religion, family, and a culture that eats itself. I loved this book. ~ Sara Gran
Family Memories quotes by Sara Gran
My family was in two businesses - they were in the textile business, and they were in the candy business. The conversations around the dinner table were all about the factory floor and how many machines were running and what was happening in the business. I grew up very engaged in manufacturing and as part of a family business. ~ Karen Mills
Family Memories quotes by Karen Mills
When God is made the master of a family, he disorders the disorderly. ~ George Herbert
Family Memories quotes by George Herbert
His eyes went again to the crucifix above his head, reflected in the mirror. The strained arms, the arched spine. All that effort to open the gates of heaven for us and we (he thought) probably spend out first hours among the heavenly hosts settling old scores with relatives. ~ Alice McDermott
Family Memories quotes by Alice McDermott
I realized that when we finally reached Miyako, I would be stepping into a new life and would have to stop thinking about Ming-gwok. I imagined a small lacquered box inlaid with silver and gold in a pattern of curling waves, inset with silver cranes. Into this imaginary box I placed all my memories of Ming-gwok and secretly tucked it away in my heart. ~ Liza Dalby
Family Memories quotes by Liza Dalby
No one enjoys being away from friends and family. ~ Roger Glover
Family Memories quotes by Roger Glover
Why couldn't she be part of that family? rent a room in someone else's life. ~ Kiran Desai
Family Memories quotes by Kiran Desai
Memories are fool's gold. ~ Marty Rubin
Family Memories quotes by Marty Rubin
Being someone who had had a very difficult childhood, a very difficult adolescence - it had to do with not quite poverty, but close. It had to do with being brought up in a family where no one spoke English, no one could read or write English. It had to do with death and disease and lots of other things. I was a little prone to depression. ~ Sherwin B. Nuland
