Do not quit too soon. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
The truth is that each of us fall short of loving unconditionally. We don't love others the way God loves us. Yet Jesus extended perfect love by living and dying for all of our sins. In spite of our failures, weaknesses, and selfishness, He sacrificed His own life so we could have eternal life. ~ Dana Arcuri
Encouragement Failures quotes by Dana Arcuri
For instance, the cards that I wrote for the company's 'I'd Like to Declare My Confused and Ambiguous Fondness for You' line were all notorious failures, some of which were blamed as the single direct cause of several nasty divorces, and some of their purchasers had actually taken the effort to discover the identity of their anonymous author, sending me hate mail, dead fish, and poorly wrapped, oil-stained packages emitting ticking noises. ~ Dexter Palmer
Encouragement Failures quotes by Dexter Palmer
We were strong. We stayed bright as lightning,
we sang loud as thunder, we moved ever forward.
We are not our failures. We are love. ~ La Dispute
Encouragement Failures quotes by La Dispute
Whatever you wish for, you can have, if only you can wait prayerfully. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Reasonably accurate appraisal of one's own capabilities is, therefore, of considerable value in successful functioning. Large misjudgments of personal efficacy in either direction have consequences. People who grossly overestimate their capabilities undertake activities that are clearly beyond their reach. As a result, they get themselves into considerable difficulties, undermine their credibility, and suffer needless failures. Some of the missteps, of course, can produce serious, irreparable harm ~ Albert Bandura
Encouragement Failures quotes by Albert Bandura
Failures don't plan to fail; they fail to plan. ~ Harvey MacKay
Encouragement Failures quotes by Harvey MacKay
Do not take yourself too seriously. You have to learn not to be dismayed at making mistakes. No human being can avoid failures. ~ Lawrence G. Lovasik
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lawrence G. Lovasik
I mean the only thing us dead soldiers got in common is that none of us was good enough or lucky enough to survive the fight. We're a host of failures. ~ Steven Erikson
Encouragement Failures quotes by Steven Erikson
If you had to relive your life exactly as it was – same successes and failures, same happiness, same miseries, same mixture of comedy and tragedy – would you want to? Was it worth it? ~ Gavin Extence
Encouragement Failures quotes by Gavin Extence
A true friend is one who overlooks your failures and tolerates your success! ~ Doug Larson
Encouragement Failures quotes by Doug Larson
Hypocrisy - in other words, the practice of lying about lying - shields us from seeing ourselves as we are: a collocation of fragments that fit together as a biological unit but not as anything else, not as that ghost which has been called a self, a phantasm whose ecotoplasmic unreality we can never see through. By staying true to the lie of the self, the ego, we can hold onto the illusion that we will be who we are all our lives and not see our selves die a thousand times before our death. While some have dedicated themselves to getting to the bottom of how these parts create the illusion of a whole, this is not how pyramids are built. To get a pyramid off the ground takes a lot of ego - the base material of those stacks of stones that tourists visit while on vacation. Of course, a pyramid is actually a polyhedron, that is, a mathematical conception which pyramids in the physical world resemble . . . at least from a distance. The nearer one gets to a pyramid, the more it reveals itself to be what it is: a roughly pyramidal conglomeration of bricks, a composition of fragments that is not what it seems to be. This is also how it works with humans. The world around us encourages the build up of our egos - those pyramids of self-esteem - as if we needed such encouragement. Although everyone is affected by this pyramid scheme, some participate in it more than others: they are observably more full of themselves and tend to their egos as they would exotic plants in a hothouse. It h ~ Thomas Ligotti
Encouragement Failures quotes by Thomas Ligotti
The land of delight is holy sanctuary. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Anything I wanted to do and achieve has not been influential in my life, but my failures have. ~ Imtiaz Ali
Encouragement Failures quotes by Imtiaz Ali
Our gods, if we choose to believe in them, must be forced to live up to ethics that far surpass our own human standards. If they fall short of the ethical conditions we place upon ourselves, what use are they to us - except to rationalize our own failures? ~ Stifyn Emrys
Encouragement Failures quotes by Stifyn Emrys
With the spirit of endurance, we shall strive in any situation. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
May all your failures be failures of love. ~ Marty Rubin
Encouragement Failures quotes by Marty Rubin
I don't think anyone who tries something they love is a failure. I think it's the people who don't try who are failures. ~ Kim Culbertson
Encouragement Failures quotes by Kim Culbertson
You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
Encouragement Failures quotes by Elizabeth Gilbert
More great Americans were failures than they were successes. They mostly spent their lives in not having a buyer for what they had for sale. ~ Gertrude Stein
Encouragement Failures quotes by Gertrude Stein
The whole world," he said, "is going Radical again. Fundamentally. In religion. In politics. In law. The Common Man has been trying to get his Radicalism said and done plainly and clearly for a hundred and fifty years. Now we take it on. Our movement. The new wave of attack."

"And fill a ditch in our turn," said Irwell.

"Maybe we're over the last ditch," said Rud. "There must be a last ditch somewhere...

"All other revolutionary movements have been experiments so far, Christianity, the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, and more or less failures. They were experiments in liberation and they did not liberate. The old things wriggled back. But ours may be the experiment that succeeds. We may get to the Common-sense World State. Yes -- we -- in this room...Why not? It has to come somehow, somewhen... If it doesn't come pretty soon, there won't be much of humanity left to liberate. ~ H.G.Wells
Encouragement Failures quotes by H.G.Wells
The opportunities far outweigh the disappointments. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
So that the failures to pass a civil rights bill isn't because of Black Power, isn't because of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee; it's not because of the rebellions that are occurring in the major cities. ~ Stokely Carmichael
Encouragement Failures quotes by Stokely Carmichael
To choose a writer for a friend is like palling around with your cardiologist, who might be musing as you talk to him that you are a sinking man. A writer's love for another writer is never quite free of malice. He may enjoy discussing your failures even more than you do. He probably sees you as tragic, like his characters - or unworthy of tragedy, which is worse. ~ Anatole Broyard
Encouragement Failures quotes by Anatole Broyard
It was too much for Adolf Hitler. In the summer of 1944, he began to vent his anger at the Luftwaffe for its failures from the Battle of Britain to Stalingrad and now Normandy. 'Goering! The Luftwaffe's doing nothing,' he railed at the Reichsmarschall during one conference. 'It's no longer worthy to be an independent service. And that's your fault. You're lazy.' Tears rolled down the Reichsmarschall's cheeks. He reported himself 'sick' for future conferences and ordered his generals to deputize. ~ Richard Hargreaves
Encouragement Failures quotes by Richard Hargreaves
Your past failures will lead to your future success ~ Steven Aitchison
Encouragement Failures quotes by Steven Aitchison
Encouragement makes a fault easy to correct, and a challenge easy to take on. ~ Dale Carnegie
Encouragement Failures quotes by Dale Carnegie
Failure. Never before has a thing gotten such a bad rap as failure. And why wouldn't it? It's failure. In a video game, failure means to fucking die, to drop into a pit of lava while the princess remains unsaved (oh, sexist video games, when will the lady plumber save the prince instead of the other way around?). You fail a class and it's like
*poop noise*
you failed, you're held back, time is wasted, money is lost, you suck, you stupid person. Hell with that. Failure is brilliant. Failure is how we learn. Every great success and every kick-ass creator is the product of a hundred failures, a thousand, some epic-big, some micro-tiny. We learn the right moves by taking the wrong turns. Failure should not drag you into the pits of personal despair but rather leave you empowered. Failure is an instructional manual written in scar tissue. ~ Chuck Wendig
Encouragement Failures quotes by Chuck Wendig
Quality is better than quantity. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Question the Thought "Failure is Just for Losers"

A failure-related thinking error that anxious perfectionists sometimes make is thinking that failure is just for losers. If you have this thinking bias, try this thought experiment:
Experiment: Think of a highly successful person you admire. It can be anyone, from Oprah to someone you actually know.
What failures has this person experienced in areas where he or she is generally successful? Has a businessperson you admire made some bad investments? Has your favorite actor made a movie that lost money? Has your favorite musician had an album flop?
You may be able to think of examples and failures off the top of your head, or you may need to do some online research or read a biography of that person. Make sure the examples are relevant to the person's core domain of success. A superstar chef opening a restaurant and failing is more relevant than an actor opening a restaurant and failing.
After you've done the thought experiment, ask yourself, "What's an alternative thought that's more realistic and less harsh than 'Failure is just for losers'?"
Alternate option: Ask mentors (people you actually know) about examples of their failures. Ask them what they learned from the experiences. You could also ask your mentors for examples of failures that have happened to prominent people in your field. They might be more willing to volunteer this information than to talk about their own failures. ~ Alice Boyes
Encouragement Failures quotes by Alice Boyes
Don't let failures deter you. It only means the next time your chance of succeeding is greater!" LJBurson Marcy: A continuing series . . . ~ Linda Burson
Encouragement Failures quotes by Linda Burson
Our successes and failures in life can be traced to how well or how badly we deal with the inevitable conflicts that confront us in society. ~ Robert Greene
Encouragement Failures quotes by Robert Greene
Give me that warm feeling,
That makes me believe again.
Give me that soft answer,
The kind you gave me way back when.
Give me some true kindness,
That brightens the sky again.
Give me the best that's in you,
And encouragement now and then.
Dust off those long-lost manners!
Bury ambition and guile!
Unfurl those lovely banners
Of virtue and laughter and style!
Give me that warm feeling,
Take off that impersonal glove.
Remember, remember we're dealing
With that fair and rare thing called love! ~ Alec Wilder
Encouragement Failures quotes by Alec Wilder
You have to see the good in yourself before expecting someone else to see the good in you. Be aware of who you are and what you can truly be. ~ Blaque Diamond
Encouragement Failures quotes by Blaque Diamond
Former secretary of state George Shultz, reflecting on forty years of United States foreign policy from 1970 to the present, said, When I think about all the money we spent on bombs and munitions, and our failures in Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world . . . Instead of advancing our agenda using force, we should have instead built schools and hospitals in these countries, improving the lives of their children. By now, those children would have grown into positions of influence, and they would be grateful to us instead of hating us. ~ Daniel J. Levitin
Encouragement Failures quotes by Daniel J. Levitin
The sacred soul delivers the message of life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
I don't have to take this abuse from you
I have hundreds of people waiting in line to abuse me! ~ Bill Murray
Encouragement Failures quotes by Bill Murray
The Bible teaches us to be more concerned about the needs and feelings of others than our own. We are to encourage and build self-confidence in our loved ones, friends, and associates. ~ Billy Graham
Encouragement Failures quotes by Billy Graham
Amusement touched the corner of his lips. "Animals love me."
"Oh, I'm sure they do," Scarlet said, beaming with fake encouragement. She shut the door before muttering, "What farm animals don't love a wolf? ~ Marissa Meyer
Encouragement Failures quotes by Marissa Meyer
My thoughts shift to my friends. I'd been so angry with them for grabbing my pain from me in the wake of the News. But maybe my friends were loving me the best way they knew how, just like I was trying to love Amma. We think our job as humans is to avoid pain, our job as parents is to protect our children from pain, and our job as friends is to fix each other's pain. Maybe that's why we all feel like failures so often--because we all have the wrong job description for love. What my friends didn't know about me and I didn't know about Amma is that people who are hurting don't need Avoiders, Protectors, or Fixers. What we need are patient, loving witnesses. People to sit quietly and hold space for us. People to stand in helpless vigil to our pain.

There on the floor, I promise myself that I'll be that kind of mother, that kind of friend. I'll show up and stand humble in the face of a loved one's pain. I'll admit I'm as empty-handed, dumbstruck, and out of ideas as she is. I won't try to make sense of things or require more than she can offer. I won't let my discomfort with her pain keep me from witnessing it for her. I'l never try to grab or fix her pain, because I know that for as long as it takes, he pain will also be her comfort. It will be all she has left. Grief is love's souvenir. It's our proof that we once loved. Grief is the receipt we wave in the air that says to the world: Look! Love was once mine. I loved well. Here is my proof that I paid the price. So I ~ Glennon Doyle Melton
Encouragement Failures quotes by Glennon Doyle Melton
The most influential people you will ever meet were once held together by the encouragement of others. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Encouragement Failures quotes by Shannon L. Alder
Perseverance is more than endurance.
It is endurance combined with absolute assurance and certainty that what we are looking for is going to happen. Perseverance means more than just hanging on, which may only be exposing our fear of letting go and falling. Perseverance is our supreme effort of refusing to believe that our hero is going to be conquered. ~ Oswald Chambers
Encouragement Failures quotes by Oswald Chambers
Encouragement is like water to the soul, it makes everything grow. ~ Chris Burkmenn
Encouragement Failures quotes by Chris Burkmenn
Failure's sleeve cannot help but brush against the back of gratified desires and insatiability is inevitably left to gaze with smoldering eyes into the wise, peaceful eyes of a person who finds satiation within himself. ~ Robert Walser
Encouragement Failures quotes by Robert Walser
Half the failures in life arise from pulling in one's horse as he is leaping.
Happiness is a habit. Cultivate it. ~ Elbert Hubbard
Encouragement Failures quotes by Elbert Hubbard
We encounter many sacred souls while reading. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
The process of achievement comes through repeated failures and the constant struggle to climb to a higher level. ~ John C. Maxwell
Encouragement Failures quotes by John C. Maxwell
You won't get perfect by beating yourself up; you'll only get dented. ~ TemitOpe Ibrahim
Encouragement Failures quotes by TemitOpe Ibrahim
The grace of living life is to give glory to God. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Encouragement Failures quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
I had this idea we would have ordered some good champagne, launched toast after toast to our humanity, which after all had created everything: the opportunities for the bug, the bug itself, and its solution. I think now it might have changed us, softened our failures, made us feel we belonged to - had a true stake in - those lives full of code we had separately stumbled into. I like to think it would have reassured him, saved him: To know that at the heart of the problem was the ancient mystery of time. To discover that between the blinks of the machine's shuttered eye - going on without pause or cease; simulated, imagined, but still not caught - was life. ~ Ellen Ullman
