Organizations are not really "owned" by anyone. What formerly constituted ownership was split up into stockholders' rights to share in profits, management's power to set policy, employees' right to status and security, government's right to regulate. Thus older forms of wealth were replaced by new forms. ~ Charles A. Reich
Employee Forum quotes by Charles A. Reich
Human Resources management is a skill ingrained with an art to execute. ~ Henrietta Newton Martin
Employee Forum quotes by Henrietta Newton Martin
He often said he had to be a writer because he wasn't good at anything else. He was not good at being an employee. Back in the mid-1950's, he was employed for Sports Illustrated, briefly. He reported back to work, was asked to write a short piece on a racehorse that jumped over a fence and tried to run away. Kurt stared at the blank piece of paper all morning and then typed, "The horse jumped over the fucking fence," and walked out, self-employed again. ~ Mark Vonnegut
Employee Forum quotes by Mark Vonnegut
The commonest way to cheat an employer is not by stealing his money or loafing on the job, but by refusing to disagree when you feel he is wrong. If he is paying you for your brains, and not just for your body, an employee has an obligation to dissent from decisions he thinks wrong. ~ Sibichen K. Mathew
Employee Forum quotes by Sibichen K. Mathew
Know Your Warning Signs That You've Persisted Too Long

Because anxiety causes thinking to get narrow and rigid, it can sometimes cause you to persist too long on certain tasks. Since anxious perfectionists tend to be particular and don't like unfinished tasks hanging over their heads, they can be especially vulnerable to this trap. Know the signs that you need to stop persisting. For example, if you work online, one of your personal signs of overpersistence might be that you've searched a forum for over 30 minutes looking for a solution to a problem and haven't found it. This would be a cue that taking a break from trying to solve your problem is likely to be more effective than banging away at it. Another example might be if you've been trying to convince your partner of something for over 10 minutes. You've explained your point of view several different ways, and you're still at loggerheads.
Define your overpersistence warning signs in objective and specific ways. This will make it harder to ignore them than if your definitions were fuzzy. ~ Alice Boyes
Employee Forum quotes by Alice Boyes
The U.N. can be very frustrating and at times impotent, but it can also be a valuable forum for discussion and resolution of world problems. We should not walk away from it just because it's failed to live up to its promise. ~ Robert Foster Bennett
Employee Forum quotes by Robert Foster Bennett
If you find it difficult to accept failure then you simply won't get any innovation because employees will be too frightened ~ Terry Leahy
Employee Forum quotes by Terry Leahy
Where a typical manager may set the deadline for the employee, Musk guides his engineers into taking ownership of their own delivery dates. "He doesn't say, 'You have to do this by Friday at two P.M.,'" Brogan said. "He says, 'I need the impossible done by Friday at two P.M. Can you do it?' Then, when you say yes, you are not working hard because he told you to. You're working hard for yourself. It's a distinction you can feel. You have signed up to do your own work." And by recruiting hundreds of bright, self-motivated people, SpaceX has maximized the power of the individual. One person putting in a sixteen-hour day ends up being much more effective than two people working eight-hour days together. The individual doesn't have to hold meetings, reach a consensus, or bring other people up to speed on a project. He just keeps working and working and working. The ~ Ashlee Vance

The Fitchburg Railroad touches the pond about a hundred rods south of where I dwell. I usually go to the village along its causeway, and am, as it were, related to society by this link. The men on the freight trains, who go over the whole length of the road, bow to me as to an old acquaintance, they pass me so often, and apparently they take me for an employee; and so I am. I too would fain be a track-repairer somewhere in the orbit of the earth. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Employee Forum quotes by Henry David Thoreau
Will Trump, who has scant impulse control and who's willing to say the most insulting, provocative things that people wouldn't say at a dinner party much less a global forum, get into a tweet battle with a madman and start a world war? Will Hillary ever seem on the level? Or will she always be surrounded by a cordon of creepy henchmen and Clinton Inc. sycophants, shrouded in a miasma of money grabs and conveniently disappearing records and emails? Both ~ Maureen Dowd
Employee Forum quotes by Maureen Dowd
You have to treat your employees like your customers. When you treat them right they will treat your outside customers right. ~ Herb Kelleher
Employee Forum quotes by Herb Kelleher
IN MY SO-CALLED CAREER, I'VE OFTEN WRITTEN THINGS THAT I VAINLY THOUGHT WERE INCREDIBLY GOOD AND THAT I ENJOYED READING SO MUCH I FIGURED EVERYBODY ELSE WOULD ENJOY THEM TOO, AND MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, I HAVE BEEN TOTALLY WRONG … I never stopped being surprised that so many critics were uninterested in them, or dismissive, or even hostile. often they tried to point out the allegorical failures of the pieces, even when they were clearly as non-allegorical as they could get. and more than a couple of times, I received emails from somebody asking me what happened, why didn't I write the stories I used to write, and why did I get into all this 'animal rights' nonsense? I guess they thought I was picketing outside university research facilities. I consider all my stories and novels to be animal stories … I never understood why people took MFA degrees, or creative writing courses, and I avoided taking them myself for many years … honestly, I can't imagine why anybody would want to go through the pain and agony of having his work critiqued in an open forum - I tell my creative writing students this all the time, they are all far braver than I am! ~ Scott Bradfield
Employee Forum quotes by Scott Bradfield
One function of the librarian, as he saw it, was to blunt the edge of these differences and to provide a means whereby the rich and poor could live happily side by side. The public library was a great leveler, supplying a literature by which the ordinary man could experience some of the pleasures of the rich, and providing a common ground where employer and employee could meet on equal terms. ~ Lewis Henry Steiner
Employee Forum quotes by Lewis Henry Steiner
I believe in fighting with investors to reduce the amount of equity they get and then being as generous as you possibly can with employees. ~ Sam Altman
Employee Forum quotes by Sam Altman
(H)er qualifications for the Supreme Court are non-existent. She is not a brilliant jurist, indeed, has never been a judge. She is not a scholar of the law. Researchers are hard-pressed to dig up an opinion. She has not had a brilliant career in politics, the academy, the corporate world or public forum. Were she not a friend of Bush, and female, she would never have even been considered. ~ Pat Buchanan
Employee Forum quotes by Pat Buchanan
This isn't a game. We don't want mediocre employees who can keep the status quo. We want souls. We want to win. And you've spent most of your time here being mediocre. ~ Richelle Mead
Employee Forum quotes by Richelle Mead
In its 2013 annual report on "Global Risks," the World Economic Forum (host of the annual superelite gathering in Davos), stated plainly, "Although the Alaskan village of Kivalina - which faces being 'wiped out' by the changing climate - was unsuccessful in its attempts to file a US$ 400 million lawsuit against oil and coal companies, future plaintiffs may be more successful. Five decades ago, the U.S. tobacco industry would not have suspected that in 1997 it would agree to pay $368 billion in health-related damages. ~ Naomi Klein
Employee Forum quotes by Naomi Klein
The world of employer and employee, like that of master and slave, debases both. ~ Edward Abbey
Employee Forum quotes by Edward Abbey
Thanks to his salary, an employee is free to eat whatever, wherever. However, because of his job, he is not free to eat whenever. ~ Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Employee Forum quotes by Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Take good care of your employees, and they'll take good care of your customers, and the customers will come back. ~ J. Willard Marriott
Employee Forum quotes by J. Willard Marriott
A slave works the whole day for free and is offered a bed to sleep and food to eat. An employee works the whole day for money in order to pay for his own bed and food. Do you see any difference here? ~ Robin Sacredfire
Employee Forum quotes by Robin Sacredfire
It's an intolerable abuse of power to have employees who are supposed to be advancing the public interest actually working on political campaigns. ~ Sal Albanese
Employee Forum quotes by Sal Albanese
Chances are you have a job. Chances are your job sucks. But you've learned a few things from this job, mainly, YOU DON'T LIKE BEING AN EMPLOYEE! ~ Robert T. Kiyosaki
Employee Forum quotes by Robert T. Kiyosaki
You know what, Steve Jobs is real nice to me. He lets me be an employee and that's one of the biggest honors of my life. ~ Steve Wozniak
Employee Forum quotes by Steve Wozniak
Although few people will remember 3 June 1993, it was a landmark in South African history. On that day, after months of negotiations at the World Trade Centre, the multiparty forum voted to set a date for the country's first national, nonracial, one-person-one-vote election: 27 April 1994. For the first time in South African history, the black majority would go to the polls to elect their own leaders. ~ Nelson Mandela
Employee Forum quotes by Nelson Mandela
The office' is a cemetery of dreams. ~ Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Employee Forum quotes by Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Employees will only add more value over time. ~ Sam Altman
Employee Forum quotes by Sam Altman
The world is a bell curve. Classroom test scores, employee performance in a company or how many people really, really like you. No matter the population you're studying, they always fit neatly across the standard deviations of the famous bell curve. ~ Simon Sinek
Employee Forum quotes by Simon Sinek
When I tried to access one of the other entertainment libraries, Vintage Movies, the system informed me that I wouldn't be granted access to a wider selection of entertainment options until I had received an above-average rating in three consecutive employee performance reviews. Then the system asked me if I wanted more information on the Indentured Employee Entertainment Reward Program. I didn't. ~ Ernest Cline
Employee Forum quotes by Ernest Cline
We have taken God out of our education system. We have taken Him out of government. You have lawyers that sue you every time you mention the name of Jesus Christ in any public forum. ~ Franklin Graham
Employee Forum quotes by Franklin Graham

Silicon Valley's success comes from the way its companies build alliances with their employees. ~ Reid Hoffman
Employee Forum quotes by Reid Hoffman
As governor I would have made sure that I bargained fairly but firmly, been able to get the changes that were needed to balance the budget, but done that through collective bargaining and making sure that our public employees had a voice at the table. ~ Mary Burke
Employee Forum quotes by Mary Burke
ATKINSON. Early Apple employee, developed graphics for the Macintosh. CHRISANN BRENNAN. Jobs's girlfriend at Homestead High, mother ~ Walter Isaacson

But beginners to the World Economics Forum have to understand there is no single Davos experience, and there is no single Davos community either. There are numerous tribes who interact only at a minimal level. ~ Evan Davis
Employee Forum quotes by Evan Davis
When you have an employee who's innovative in your organization, what are they thinking about in the shower? If they're working in an exciting place, they're not thinking what they're going to do over the weekend. They're thinking: 'How do I solve that problem?' ~ Peter Diamandis
Employee Forum quotes by Peter Diamandis
Define Your Options

When people are spinning their rumination wheels about a particular problem, they often don't concretely define what their options are for moving forward. To shift out of rumination and into problem-solving mode, concretely and realistically define what your best three to six options are. For example, imagine you've recently hired a new employee but that person is not working out. Instead of mentally slapping yourself around about why you made the hire, it would be more useful to define what your options are at this point:

--Giving the employee more time
--Shifting the employee's responsibilities to simpler jobs
--Giving the employee checklists of the steps needed to complete each task
--Having another employee work with the individual
--Firing the employee

Defining your options relieves some of the stress of rumination and helps you shift to effective problem solving. Keeping your list of options short will prevent you from running into choice-overload problems. Research shows that if you consider more than three to six choices, you're less likely to end up making a choice.
Experiment: Practice concretely defining your best three to six options for moving forward with a problem you're currently ruminating or worrying about. Write brief bullet points, like in the example just given. You can use this method for all sorts of problems. For example, a friend just used it to come up with ideas for how t ~ Alice Boyes

What are we waiting for, assembled in the forum? The barbarians are due here today. ~ C.P. Cavafy
Employee Forum quotes by C.P. Cavafy
There was a time when only specialized Christian missionaries needed to be able to defend the gospel of Jesus Christ against the attacks of Islam. Today every Christian has an opportunity and obligation to present the gospel effectively and in Christian love to the Muslims who have permeated our Western society. When your neighbor, your mechanic, your favorite basketball player, your employer or employee, or even your children's friends could very well be Muslims, the need for proper understanding and an effective Christian witness is abundantly clear. ~ Josh McDowell
