It is ironic that Keynesianism originated as a weapon to combat depression, but became universally accepted and "successful" only during (and because of!) the postwar expansion. At the first sign of renewed world recession, Keynesian theory has proved itself to be a snare and a delusion that has gone into immediate bankruptcy. The resulting "post-Keynesian synthesis" is also the theoretical reason for the reactionary exhumation of the simplistic, neoclassical, and monetarist economic theory of the 1920s. This revival of old theory is highlighted by the award of Nobel prizes in economics to Friedrich von Hayek, whose theoretical work was done before the Great Depression, and Milton Friedman, whose lone voice echoed in the wilderness until the new world economic crisis put his unpopular and antipopulist theories on the agenda of business board rooms and government cabinet rooms in one capitalist country after another. The real reason for the recent interest in fifty-year-old theories is that capital now wants them to legitimize its attack on the welfare state and "unproductive" expenditures on social services, which capital claims to need for "productive" investment in industry, including armaments. ~ Andre Gunder Frank
Economic Crisis quotes by Andre Gunder Frank
Now, I don't think President Obama and Vice President Biden get the credit they deserve for saving us from the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes. Our economy is so much stronger than when they took office. ~ Hillary Clinton
Economic Crisis quotes by Hillary Clinton
In a normal time, I don't think economic policy makes a large difference one way or another. But in times of crisis it makes all the difference in the world. ~ Mark Zandi
Economic Crisis quotes by Mark Zandi
The truth is, I can't help the way people perceive anything, from the role of financial industry in the economic crisis, to the place of women's fiction in the canon of modern literature, to the rank of mint chocolate chip ice cream as a favorite Baskin-Robbins flavor. ~ Erin Duffy
Economic Crisis quotes by Erin Duffy
Many fans don't have the leisure time to track my every word. They're too busy brainstorming solutions to the economic crisis and winning Pulitzers. ~ Michael Showalter
Economic Crisis quotes by Michael Showalter
Sometimes you need a major crisis to bring people together. ~ Kishore Mahbubani
Economic Crisis quotes by Kishore Mahbubani
I think that if we don't get these politicians to come together we face the most predictable economic crisis in history. ~ Erskine Bowles
Economic Crisis quotes by Erskine Bowles
The economic crisis really affected my family - 2006 to 2011 were really bad times. Almost everybody in my family lost their jobs. ~ Joey Badass
Economic Crisis quotes by Joey Badass
Anecdote: The East End seemed to be in the grip of yet another economic crisis ... By the winter of 1933, an army of the unemployed gathered daily outside the dock gates, desperate for a day or 2 paid work ... There was no cushion, no disaster fund, no stashed savings, no government handouts no syrup that could sweeten the bitter pill of poverty. ~ Melanie McGrath
Economic Crisis quotes by Melanie McGrath
Carolyn Maloney has extensive - she's shown over and over again her creativity, her determination, her tenacity in fighting for women's rights. She has passed a host of bills in many different areas, both national and global, with both national and global importance for women, and she's on a Chair of Finance Committee so essentially in this economic crisis, we thought she would be perfect. ~ Eleanor Smeal
Economic Crisis quotes by Eleanor Smeal
Europe is in an economic crisis. Germany is the wealthiest country in Europe and it benefits the most from Europe. However, the German public doesn't want to pay for what they see as Greek indolence and corruption. ~ George Friedman
Economic Crisis quotes by George Friedman
Fundamentally transforming the foundations of the economy is the biggest contribution we can make towards building a sustainable future. The current economic crisis may be painful, but it will be nothing compared with the crises we will face if we continue to grow in a way that threatens the life-support systems on which we rely ~ Jonathon Porritt
Economic Crisis quotes by Jonathon Porritt
Investors are impatient and they are also desperate for the 'next big thing,' and they are not paying attention to the fact that the 'next big thing' can be an economic crisis that they have created by being very irresponsible with their power. ~ Carmen Busquets
Economic Crisis quotes by Carmen Busquets
The economic crisis has weakened the EU for years. ~ Yanis Varoufakis
Economic Crisis quotes by Yanis Varoufakis
A pandemic will lead to permanent social, economic, and cultural changes. The key is to create good from a bad situation. ~ Wayne Gerard Trotman
Economic Crisis quotes by Wayne Gerard Trotman
Credit expansion results in the recurrence of economic crisis and periods of depression. Inflation makes the prices of all commodities and services soar. The attempts to enforce wage rates higher than those the unhampered market would have determined produce mass unemployment prolonged year after year. Price ceilings result in a drop in the supply of commodities affected. The economists have proved these theorems in an irrefutable way. No ~ Ludwig Von Mises
Economic Crisis quotes by Ludwig Von Mises
They had become a nation of traders. ~ Petina Gappah
Economic Crisis quotes by Petina Gappah
It is important that we note the weaknesses in our financial system, and work toward implementing solutions before the next crisis comes. Gordon L. Eade ~ Kenneth Eade
Economic Crisis quotes by Kenneth Eade
So every dollar spent on finding some gene or hormone to explain why becoming fat is not because of sugary drinks, fried foods or unchecked gluttony is a dollar not spent on getting food for the hungry, vaccines for babies, shelter for the homeless. But the rules are made by the ones in power, these neo-Brahmins, and we must follow them if we want to survive in this global village. ~ Anirban Bose
Economic Crisis quotes by Anirban Bose
Racism is always there underneath, but usually it is exploited in these times of economic crisis, and it's hard to find out when one slides into another. ~ Iris Chang
Economic Crisis quotes by Iris Chang
You can't fight an evil disease with sweet medicine,' says the ng'anga. ~ Panashe Chigumadzi
Economic Crisis quotes by Panashe Chigumadzi
By failing seriously to confront the most predicable economic crisis in our nation's history, the President's policies are committing us and our children to a diminished future. ~ Paul Ryan
Economic Crisis quotes by Paul Ryan
If you followed this economic crisis and you do not think that the world is getting flatter, you are not paying attention. We saw the entire global economy at one time acting totally in sync. The real truth is the world is even flatter than I thought. Our mortgage crisis is killing Deutsche Bank. You still don't think the world is flat? ~ Thomas Friedman
Economic Crisis quotes by Thomas Friedman
There has been a banking crisis, a financial crisis, an economic crisis, a social crisis, a geostrategic crisis and an environmental crisis. That's considerable in a country that's used to being protected. ~ Jean-Francois Cope
Economic Crisis quotes by Jean-Francois Cope
Capitalism has become systemically risky when a single financial algorithm like the one that David X. Li created brought the entire global economic system close to collapse in 2008. ~ Said Elias Dawlabani
Economic Crisis quotes by Said Elias Dawlabani
The years of the economic depression have been years of political reaction, and that is why the economic crisis has generated a world peace crisis. ~ Arthur Henderson
Economic Crisis quotes by Arthur Henderson
The test of a progressive policy is not private but public, not just rising income and consumption for individuals, but widening the opportunities and what Amartya Sen calls the 'capabilities' of all through collective action. But that means, it must mean, public non-profit initiative, even if only in redistributing private accumulation. Public decisions aimed at collective social improvement from which all human lives should gain. That is the basis of progressive policy - not maximising economic growth and personal incomes. Nowhere will this be more important than in tackling the greatest problem facing us this century, the environmental crisis. Whatever ideological logo we choose for it, it will mean a major shift away from the free market and towards public action, a bigger shift than the British government has yet envisaged. And, given the acuteness of the economic crisis, probably a fairly rapid shift. Time is not on our side. ~ Eric Hobsbawm
Economic Crisis quotes by Eric Hobsbawm
First National Bank laid off 1,000 people; where do they go? There are no jobs for them. So we are having serious economic problems in this country. We are in a real economic crisis. ~ Richard M. Daley
Economic Crisis quotes by Richard M. Daley
I was elected by the people of Australia as Prime Minister of Australia. I was elected to do a job, I intend to continue doing that job. I intend to continue doing it to the absolute best of my ability. Part of that job has been to steer this country through the worst economic crisis the world has seen in 75 years. ~ Kevin Rudd
Economic Crisis quotes by Kevin Rudd
The political ramifications of our festering financial and economic crisis have reached the sidewalks of New York, as well as other large and small cities across the US. ~ Jerry A. Webman
Economic Crisis quotes by Jerry A. Webman
Canadian money is also called the loony. How can you take an economic crisis seriously? ~ Robin Williams
Economic Crisis quotes by Robin Williams
My country is in the grips of a major economic crisis. This is causing dramatic consequences for the very existence of Polish families. A permanent economic crisis in Poland may also have serious repercussions for Europe. Thus, Poland ought to be helped and deserves help. ~ Lech Walesa
Economic Crisis quotes by Lech Walesa
But Empire building also bears the seeds of its own destruction. The closer a state comes to the ultimate goal of world domination and one-world government, the less reason is there to maintain its internal liberalism and do instead what all states are inclined to do anyway, i.e., to crack down and increase their exploitation of whatever productive people are still left. Consequently, with no additional tributaries available and domestic productivity stagnating or falling, the Empire's internal policies of bread and circuses can no longer be maintained. Economic crisis hits, and an impending economic meltdown will stimulate decentralizing tendencies, separatist and secessionist movements, and lead to the break-up of Empire. We have seen this happen with Great Britain, and we are seeing it now, with the US and its Empire apparently on its last leg. ~ Hans-Hermann Hoppe
Economic Crisis quotes by Hans-Hermann Hoppe
Today's reports confirm that, unfortunately, post-crisis America is still not back to its good economic self. ~ Mohamed El-Erian
Economic Crisis quotes by Mohamed El-Erian
Fortunately there is more wealth in the world than there was at the time of the global economic crisis of 1929 - Chinese, Indian, Arab and Russian. ~ Karl Lagerfeld
Economic Crisis quotes by Karl Lagerfeld
In 2009, at the height of the global economic crisis, it was clear that we were seeing something new: the impacts of the crisis were flowing across borders at unprecedented velocity. ~ Ban Ki-moon
Economic Crisis quotes by Ban Ki-moon
For top executives to award themselves these kinds of compensation packages in the midst of this economic crisis is not only bad taste, it's bad strategy-and I will not tolerate it as president. ~ Barack Obama
Economic Crisis quotes by Barack Obama
I will come up with a project that will wipe out poverty in the Philippines in two years. I want to remove the people from economic crisis by using the Marcos wealth. Long after I'm gone, people will remember me for building them homes and roads and hospitals and giving them food. ~ Imelda Marcos
Economic Crisis quotes by Imelda Marcos
The close of my studies with a degree of a Dr. Ing. in 1929 coincided with the great economic crisis, and I was not able to find an academic position. I was therefore very grateful for a position in the newly created laboratory of G.J. Driza in Prague where rare chemicals were produced on small scale. ~ Vladimir Prelog
Economic Crisis quotes by Vladimir Prelog
Isabel, remember we used to talk about a honeymoon in Spain?"
"Of course."
"It woulda been a blast. I took a walk last night. Two in the morning, it felt like two in the afternoon. Traffic. People on the street: families, old folks on benches. The bars and restaurants were full, everybody carrying on. Hard to believe there's an economic crisis."
"Maybe they should shut up, get some sleep, and fix the mess. ~ Sebastian Rotella
Economic Crisis quotes by Sebastian Rotella
I feel like the thing we can do is celebrate people doing great work and create more cultural momentum and awareness that this is an important thing in the world. So when the next economic crisis hits and people are talking about where to cut from the budget, science isn't the thing. ~ Mark Zuckerberg
Economic Crisis quotes by Mark Zuckerberg
She [Carolyn Maloney] knows the financial issues, that's why we thought she was perfect because we're in a - we're in, as you know, a financial crisis, an economic crisis, and I know that she'll see the whole picture. ~ Eleanor Smeal
Economic Crisis quotes by Eleanor Smeal
Where people are now in terms of the economic crisis, they're looking at what we think is the bottom, and I think that's when people look to film and to spirituality. ~ Emilio Estevez
Economic Crisis quotes by Emilio Estevez
Society, in which we all live, is corrupt, immoral, aggressive, destructive. This society has been going on in primitive or modified form for thousands of years upon thousands of years, but it is the same pattern being repeated. These are all facts, not opinion or judgment. Facing this enormous crisis, one asks not only what one is to do but also who is responsible, who has brought the chaos, the confusion, the utter misery of humanity. Is the economic crisis, the social crisis, the crisis of war, the building of enormous armaments, the appalling waste, outside of us? Inwardly, psychologically, we are also very confused; there is constant conflict, struggle, pain, anxiety.

We are together taking a journey into the whole structure that mankind has created, the disorder that human beings have brought about in this world. There is misery, chaos, confusion outwardly in society; and also inwardly, psychologically, in the psyche, the consciousness, there are pain and struggles. What are you going to do about all this? Turn to leaders, better politicians? This one isn't good, but the next one will be better; and the next one still better. We keep this game going. We have looked to various so-called spiritual leaders, the whole hierarchy of the Christian world. They are as confused, as uncertain, as we are. If you turn to the psychologists or the psychotherapists, they are confused like you and me.

And there are all the ideologies: communist ideologies, Marxis ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
Economic Crisis quotes by Jiddu Krishnamurti
One cannot exclude the possibility of a fascist period in Russia," Staravoitova said on the radio station Echo of Moscow. "We can see too many parallels between Russia's current situation and that of Germany after the Versailles Treaty. A great nation is humiliated, and many of its nationals live outside the country's borders. The disintegration of an empire has taken place at a time when many people still have an imperialist mentality. ... All this is happening at a time of economic crisis. ~ David Remnick
Economic Crisis quotes by David Remnick
The current economic crisis ... has numerous causes and sends a powerful message about the need for a profound revision of the model of global economic development. It's an acute symptom that is added to other more grave and already well-known ones, such as the continued imbalance between wealth and poverty, the scandal of hunger, the ecological emergency and the problem of unemployment, which has now become general. In this context a strategic re-launching of agriculture appears decisive. ~ Pope Benedict XVI
Economic Crisis quotes by Pope Benedict XVI
Over the last few years, banks and governments have been frenziedly printing money. Everybody is terrified that the current economic crisis may stop the growth of the economy. So they are creating trillions of dollars, euros and yen out of thin air, pumping cheap credit into the system, and hoping that the scientists, technicians and engineers will manage to come up with something really big, ~ Yuval Noah Harari
Economic Crisis quotes by Yuval Noah Harari
One wonders whether the Obama re-election campaign may be on the right track as it seeks to apply the you-break-it-you-own-it rule to Bush and the American economy. Hardly a day goes by without President Obama or his surrogates arguing that it takes longer than four years to recover from an economic crisis so long in the making. ~ Jon Meacham
Economic Crisis quotes by Jon Meacham
I am speaking of the evenings when the sun sets early, of the fathers under the streetlamps in the back streets
returning home carrying plastic bags. Of the old Bosphorus ferries moored to deserted
stations in the middle of winter, where sleepy sailors scrub the decks, pail in hand and one
eye on the black-and-white television in the distance; of the old booksellers who lurch from
one ϧnancial crisis to the next and then wait shivering all day for a customer to appear; of
the barbers who complain that men don't shave as much after an economic crisis; of the
children who play ball between the cars on cobblestoned streets; of the covered women
who stand at remote bus stops clutching plastic shopping bags and speak to no one as they
wait for the bus that never arrives; of the empty boathouses of the old Bosphorus villas; of
the teahouses packed to the rafters with unemployed men; of the patient pimps striding up
and down the city's greatest square on summer evenings in search of one last drunken
tourist; of the broken seesaws in empty parks; of ship horns booming through the fog; of
the wooden buildings whose every board creaked even when they were pashas' mansions,
all the more now that they have become municipal headquarters; of the women peeking
through their curtains as they wait for husbands who never manage to come home in the
evening; of the old men selling thin religious treatises, prayer beads, a ~ Orhan Pamuk
Economic Crisis quotes by Orhan Pamuk
It is precisely those members of Congress who have had the most to do with creating the risks that led to the current economic crisis who are making the most noise against others, and summoning people before their committee to be browbeaten and humiliated on nationwide television. ~ Thomas Sowell
Economic Crisis quotes by Thomas Sowell
Many of us like to think of financial economics as a science, but complex events like the financial crisis suggest that this conceit may be more wishful thinking than reality. ~ Andrew Lo
Economic Crisis quotes by Andrew Lo
We should be disciplined and responsible and then our prosperity will be stable despite any economic crisis, inflation or a change of government ~ Sunday Adelaja
Economic Crisis quotes by Sunday Adelaja
We must create a [economic] crisis in order to ensure that there is no alternative to a smaller government. ~ Jeb Bush
Economic Crisis quotes by Jeb Bush
From the Great Depression, to the stagflation of the seventies, to the current economic crisis caused by the housing bubble, every economic downturn suffered by this country over the past century can be traced to Federal Reserve policy. The Fed has followed a consistent policy of flooding the economy with easy money, leading to a misallocation of resources and an artificial 'boom' followed by a recession or depression when the Fed-created bubble bursts. ~ Ron Paul
Economic Crisis quotes by Ron Paul
Economic theory has demonstrated in an irrefutable way that a prosperity created by an expansionist monetary and credit policy is illusory and must end in a slump, an economic crisis. ~ Ludwig Von Mises
Economic Crisis quotes by Ludwig Von Mises
The worldwide financial and economic crisis seems to highlight their distortions and above all the gravely deficient human perspective, which reduces man to one of his needs alone, namely, consumption. Worse yet, human beings themselves are nowadays considered as consumer goods which can be used and thrown away. ~ Pope Francis
Economic Crisis quotes by Pope Francis
You know, Tsitsi, you are so quick to point out that you are not a prostitute. I just want to laugh because you are just falling into rank. You all should spare us your 'morality' that lauds 'women' over the supposedly lesser 'whores' and 'girls'. That's how society sees us. That's how you see us. You want it to be that we are like coal, only to be loved in the dark and tossed like ashes come morning. ~ Panashe Chigumadzi
Economic Crisis quotes by Panashe Chigumadzi
Because of the economic crisis, China and the United States are bound together. This is a totally new phenomenon, and nobody will fight for ideology anymore. It's all about business. ~ Ai Weiwei
Economic Crisis quotes by Ai Weiwei
The American share of the crisis began with grossly improper mortgages provided to wholly unqualified borrowers, all directly caused and encouraged by government distortion of and interference in the market. The government's market deformation and market intervention was in turn the result of two factors: political favouritism and Leftist ideology, on the one hand; and upon the other, corruption: the blatant cooption of such Friends of Angelo as Mr Dodd and of such bien-pensant Lefties as Mr Frank. The stability and efficiency of any market is directly proportional to the amount and trustworthiness of market information. The Yank Congress, for blatantly partisan and ideological reasons, gave out false information to the market, pushing lenders into making bad loans and giving out, with the appropriate winks and nudges, that Fannie (will Americans ever realise how that sounds) and Freddie, imperfectly quangoised, were 'really just as good as the Treasury' and were in any case 'too big to [be let] fail': which, as it happens, was untrue. Similarly, this moronic mantra of 'too big to fail' was chanted desperately and loudly to drown out the warning sounds of various financial institutions on the brink and of the automobile industry. Incomprehensible sums of public money were thrown at these corporations so that they could avoid bankruptcy, and have succeeded only in privatising profit whilst socialising risk. ~ G.M.W. Wemyss
Economic Crisis quotes by G.M.W. Wemyss
The lesson of history is that you do not get a sustained economic recovery as long as the financial system is in crisis. ~ Ben Bernanke
Economic Crisis quotes by Ben Bernanke
It's true across the U.K. that those who had least to do with causing the economic crisis are carrying the heaviest burden. That's unacceptable. ~ Johann Lamont
Economic Crisis quotes by Johann Lamont
What Africa needs to do is to grow, to grow out of debt. ~ George Ayittey
Economic Crisis quotes by George Ayittey
I hope my work contributes to understanding long-term patterns of human behavior and how we survive, thrive, or fail during times of environmental, social, and economic crisis. ~ Sarah Parcak
Economic Crisis quotes by Sarah Parcak
Increasingly economic historians can draw analogies between the development of the present crisis and the period between the two world wars, as well as the crisis of a century ago, which was associated with the so-called great depression of 1873-1895. The latter crisis resulted in the rise of monopoly capitalism and imperialism, but also the end of Pax Britannica, as Britain began its decline from world leadership in the face of challenges from Germany and the United States. The present world crisis seems to be spelling the beginning of the end of Pax Americana and may hold untold other major readjustments in the international division of labor and world power in store for the future. ~ Andre Gunder Frank
Economic Crisis quotes by Andre Gunder Frank
The widely mis-interpreted 1998 'meltdown' of East Asia was a financial symptom of the renewed reality: In fact, it was the first round the world recession again to begin in East Asia and spread from there to the West, instead of vice versa. That marked the beginnings of the return back 360 degrees around the world of the world economic center to Asia where it had always been before those two eighty-year period of temporary Western ascendance. The stock market crash in Hong Kong and the devaluation of the Thai baht and the Indonesian rupia took only 80 seconds to make themselves felt in the London City and on New York's Wall Street. How much of a cultural lag do we still need for popular perception and social theory to catch up with global reality? ~ Andre Gunder Frank
Economic Crisis quotes by Andre Gunder Frank
Europe has been in the grip of a very serious economic crisis for few years, so there have been major cuts to anti-terrorist funding, to intelligence funding. So we do not have the manpower to carry on this kind of monitoring. ~ Loretta Napoleoni
Economic Crisis quotes by Loretta Napoleoni
From the takeover of Detroit and the failed stimulus packages to the enactment of Obamacare, the president and congressional Democrats chose to use Americas economic crisis as an excuse to expand government rather than as an opportunity to responsibly shrink it. ~ Jeb Hensarling
Economic Crisis quotes by Jeb Hensarling
I think everyone's dream is to be an actress, but I never really thought it was going to happen. Now that it's happening, it's incredible. I do a lot of other things, too. I'm not stuck in this little world. I'm aware that we're in the middle of an economic crisis in the U.S. There's a lot going on in the world, and I'm really happy and excited about what I have and I don't take it for granted. I'm pretty lucky. ~ Nina Dobrev
Economic Crisis quotes by Nina Dobrev
With the lessons taken from the financial crisis in 1997, the Republic of Korea has been able to surmount the global economic crisis rather successfully. ~ Lee Myung-bak
Economic Crisis quotes by Lee Myung-bak
The League of Independent Theater represents a coming together of actual artistic and theatrical forces that may yet undo the difficulty of our times in maintaining the highest artistic standards in a period of economic crisis. Who can save us from the downhill trend of our economy except the vigor of our arts? Theatre, music and education are our only hopes to lift our times beyond their despair and create a viable, prosperous culture. ~ Judith Malina
Economic Crisis quotes by Judith Malina
Imperialist expansion had been touched off by a curious kind of economic crisis, the overproduction of capital and the emergence of "superfluous" money, the result of oversaving, which could no longer find productive investment within the national borders. For ~ Hannah Arendt
Economic Crisis quotes by Hannah Arendt
I am also well aware that literature only has a minimal influence on political disputes or economic crises in the world, but its significance to human beings is ancient. ~ Mo Yan
Economic Crisis quotes by Mo Yan
The politics of austerity, of higher taxes, decided by governments, have lengthened the economic crisis. ~ Arnaud Montebourg
Economic Crisis quotes by Arnaud Montebourg
There is no real answer (to the U.S. economic crisis) but to remove brick by brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles. ~ Robert Waterman McChesney
Economic Crisis quotes by Robert Waterman McChesney
We start this new year in the midst of an economic crisis unlike we have seen in our lifetime. ~ Barack Obama
Economic Crisis quotes by Barack Obama
We all knew this. We all knew that it would take more time than any of us want to dig ourselves out of this hole created by this economic crisis. ~ Barack Obama
Economic Crisis quotes by Barack Obama
13. 99 percent is a very large percentage. For instance, easily 99 percent of people want a roof over their heads, food on their tables, and the occasional slice of cake for dessert. Surely an arrangement can be made with that niggling 1 percent who disagree. ~ Lemony Snicket
Economic Crisis quotes by Lemony Snicket
The warning signs had been there since the crash of 2008, but after the initial shock, nothing had been done to correct the problem. Banks had been trading over $7 trillion in risky derivatives daily, as well as fixing interest rates and making bets on the rigged games. There was an ever-growing gap between the elite and all the rest of the people which had continued to develop even after the 2008 crash. ~ Kenneth Eade
Economic Crisis quotes by Kenneth Eade
One intriguing subplot of the economic crisis is the failure of most economists to predict it. Here we have the most spectacular economic and financial crisis in decades - possibly since the Great Depression - and the one group that spends most of its waking hours analyzing the economy basically missed it. ~ Robert J. Samuelson
Economic Crisis quotes by Robert J. Samuelson
Tunisia is extremely dependent on economic conditions in Europe, which is why it also experienced shockwaves from the euro crisis. ~ Alvaro De Vasconcelos
Economic Crisis quotes by Alvaro De Vasconcelos
Will we follow the course of societies past that have lost their way and crumbled under the devastating forces of economic upheaval, war and other crises? Or we pull together as families and communities to create a brighter future? ~ Oliver DeMille
Economic Crisis quotes by Oliver DeMille
History reminds us that dictators and despots arise during times of severe economic crisis. ~ Robert Kiyosaki
Economic Crisis quotes by Robert Kiyosaki
Advances have fallen, generally, for everything except the biggest potential bestsellers. Given all the changes, both economic and technological, SF hasn't done too badly. ~ Alan Dean Foster
Economic Crisis quotes by Alan Dean Foster
The National Guard has served America as both a wartime force and the first military responders in times of domestic crisis. Hundreds of times each year, the nation's governors call upon their Guard troops to respond to fires, floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters. ~ Russel Honore
Economic Crisis quotes by Russel Honore
...one of the addictions--more fundamental than the addiction to fossil fuels--that we are going to have to give up is the addiction to fighting. Then we can examine the ground conditions that produce an endless supply of enemies to fight.
The addiction to fighting draws from a perception of the world as composed of enemies: indifferent forces of nature tending toward entropy, and hostile competitors seeking to further their reproductive or economic self-interest over our own. In a world of competitors, well-being comes through domination. In a world of random natural forces, well-being comes through control. War is the mentality of control in its most extreme form. Kill the enemy--the weeds, the pests, the terrorists, the germs--and the problem is solved once and for all. ~ Charles Eisenstein
Economic Crisis quotes by Charles Eisenstein
Since time immemorial wise people have been saying that all comparisons are odious. When we compare, we set up a winner-loser dynamic. If my crisis is greater than yours, then yours is belittled and insignificant. I say that's nonsense. Each crisis has its own power, its own unique reality. ~ Tavis Smiley
Economic Crisis quotes by Tavis Smiley
If one is okay with police having guns - whoever is designated as having authority - but panicked at the thought of their fellow man or themselves having guns, then that is someone who does not think like a free person. He places a magical aura around whoever is in charge and only thinks they can wield power. This will come up again in other areas, such as letting government make economic decisions but fearing individual people making those decisions themselves. ~ Frank J. Fleming
Economic Crisis quotes by Frank J. Fleming
There is not one single social or economic principle or concept in the philosophy of the Russian Bolshevik which has not been realized, carried into action, and enshrined in immutable laws a million years ago by the white ant. ~ Winston Churchill
Economic Crisis quotes by Winston Churchill
Today we have access to highly advanced technologies. But our social and economic system has not kept up with our technological capabilities that could easily create a world of abundance, free of servitude and debt. ~ Jacque Fresco
Economic Crisis quotes by Jacque Fresco
The characteristic mark of economic history under capitalism is unceasing economic progress, a steady increase in the quantity of capital goods available, and a continuous trend toward an improvement in the general standard of living. ~ Ludwig Von Mises
Economic Crisis quotes by Ludwig Von Mises
One of those nasty hushes had descended on the place, a sort of missile crisis sort of hush. Even ~ Douglas Adams
Economic Crisis quotes by Douglas Adams
It is not a crisis of our environs or surroundings; it is a crisis of our lives as individuals, as family members, as community members, and as citizens. We have an 'environmental crisis' because we have consented to an economy in which by eating, drinking, working, resting, traveling, and enjoying ourselves we are destroying the natural, god-given world. ~ Wendell Berry
Economic Crisis quotes by Wendell Berry
The laws you see today are a direct consequence of economic illiteracy in the general population. If every voter learned economics tonight, the laws would change tomorrow. ~ Ben Mathew
Economic Crisis quotes by Ben Mathew
Now that we've made that decision, everyone is thinking about the practical consequences and I think Theresa May could be the most challenging prime ministership since the Suez Crisis, possibly since the Second World War. ~ Jeremy Hunt
Economic Crisis quotes by Jeremy Hunt
We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did. ~ Thomas Sowell
Economic Crisis quotes by Thomas Sowell
For just a few dollars registration, you got temporary possession of a good piece of land. Live on it for five years, build a house, and farm it, and it was yours. What a brilliant economic stimulus! ~ Charles R. Morris
Economic Crisis quotes by Charles R. Morris
India is a vibrant nation whose strength lies in its commitment to equal rights and to speech, religious and economic freedoms that enrich the lives of all citizens. India is not only the world's largest democracy; it is also a secular, pluralistic society committed to inclusive growth. ~ Henry Paulson
Economic Crisis quotes by Henry Paulson
It's not a stretch to say the whole financial industry revolves around the compass point of the absolutely safe AAA rating. But the financial crisis happened because AAA ratings stopped being something that had to be earned and turned into something that could be paid for. ~ Matt Taibbi
Economic Crisis quotes by Matt Taibbi
In response to skyrocketing gas prices, liberals say, practically in unison, 'We can't drill our way out of this crisis.' What does that mean? This is like telling a starving man, 'You can't eat your way out of being hungry!' 'You can't water your way out of drought!' 'You can't sleep your way out of tiredness!' 'You can't drink yourself out of dehydration!' Seriously, what does it mean? Finding more oil isn't going to increase the supply of oil? It is the typical Democratic strategy to babble meaningless slogans, as if they have a plan. Their plan is: the permanent twilight of the human race. ~ Ann Coulter
Economic Crisis quotes by Ann Coulter
Apparently, there is no bad economic turn a conservative cannot do unto his buddy in the working class, as long as cultural solidarity has been cemented over a beer. ~ Thomas Frank
Economic Crisis quotes by Thomas Frank
