E quotes by E.M. Delafield
Employing your imagination is the first step to the fulfillment of any dream. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
E quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
I tend to turn down books originally published as e-books. As for selling books directly to e-book publishers, I would do so only if all traditional publishers had turned them down. ~ Richard Curtis
E quotes by Richard Curtis
Part of growing up is narrowing your life choices to a manageable size. ~ Amy E. Spiegel
E quotes by Amy E. Spiegel
#Twitter: proudly promoting ghastly grammar and silly misspelling since 2006. ~ E.A. Bucchianeri
E quotes by E.A. Bucchianeri
Everybody says: the Kremlin, the Kremlin. They all go on about it, but I've never seen it. The number of times (thousands) I've been drunk or hung over, traipsing round Moscow, north-south, east-west, end to end, straight through or any old way - and I've never once seen the Kremlin.

For instance, yesterday - yesterday I didn't see it again, though I was buzzing round that area the whole evening and it's not as if I was particularly drunk. I mean, as soon as I came out onto Savyelov Station, I had a glass of Zubrovka for starters, since I know from experience that as an early-morning tipple, nobody's so far dreamed up anything better.

Anyway, a glass of Zubrovka. Then after that - on Kalyaev Street - another glass, only not Zubrovka this time, but coriander vodka. A friend of mine used to say coriander had a dehumanizing effect on a person, i.e, it refreshes your parts but it weakens your spirit. For some reason or other it had the opposite effect on me, i.e., my spirit was refreshed, while my parts all went to hell. But I do agree it's dehumanizing, so that's why I topped it up with two glasses of Zhiguli beer, plus some egg-nog straight from the bottle, in the middle of Kalyaev Street.

Of course, you're saying: come on, Venya, get on with it - what did you have next? And I couldn't say for sure. I remember - I remember quite distinctly in fact - I had two glasses of Hunter's vodka, on Chekhov Street. But I couldn't have made it across th ~ Venedikt Erofeev
E quotes by Venedikt Erofeev
You really don't get it, do you? Most people are sheep. Stupid and uninformed. And they don't dig. They don't think for themselves. They'll trust a sincere voiceover and whatever the television tells them. ~ Douglas E. Richards
E quotes by Douglas E. Richards
How could he mean so much to me in such a short time? ~ E.L. James
E quotes by E.L. James
I wonder why he hastened to tell us that George Hearne was buried in the churchyard, and then added that naturally he was!'

'It's the natural place to be buried in,' said I.

'Quite. That's just why it was hardly worth mentioning.'

I felt then, just momentarily, just vaguely, as if my mind was regarding stray pieces of a jig-saw puzzle. The fancied ringing of the telephone bell last night was one of them, this burial of George Hearne in the churchyard was another, and, even more inexplicably, the ladder I had seen under the trees was a third. Consciously I made nothing whatever out of them, and did not feel the least inclination to devote any ingenuity to so fortuitous a collection of pieces. Why shouldn't I add, for that matter, our morning's bathe, or the gorse on the hillside? But I had the sensation that, though my conscious brain was presently occupied with piquet, and was rapidly growing sleepy with the day of sun and sea, some sort of mole inside it was digging passages and connecting corridors below the soil. ("Expiation") ~ E.F. Benson
E quotes by E.F. Benson
When in doubt, throw doubt out and have a little faith ... ~ E.A. Bucchianeri
E quotes by E.A. Bucchianeri
Expecting to receive a rebuke, her heart lifted when she read the words on the page, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. ~ J.E.B. Spredemann
E quotes by J.E.B. Spredemann
Learning, and especially unlearning, can take place only in the absence of defensiveness.... [W]e can drop our defenses only when we love and are loved. ~ William Sloane Coffin
E quotes by William Sloane Coffin
Lila!" he said cheerfully. "So you aren't a figment of my brothers imagination after all. ~ V.E Schwab
E quotes by V.E Schwab
... we can define concept as a logical, mental construction of one or more relationships. [...] It is purely mental, is logical, and can be described; it has been reasoned through sufficiently and presented with clarity. As such, a concept is inherently abstract (takes some things as given or assumed) ~ Don E. Ethridge
E quotes by Don E. Ethridge
It isn't possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right: love is eternal. ~ E. M. Forster
E quotes by E. M. Forster
An irenic approach to expounding Christian beliefs is one that attempts always to understand opposing viewpoints before disagreeing, and when it is necessary to disagree does so respectfully and in love. An irenic approach to doctrine seeks common ground and values unity within diversity and diversity within unity. An irenic approach does not imply relativism or disregard for truth, but it does seek to live by the motto "in essentials unity, ~ Roger E. Olson
E quotes by Roger E. Olson
If you hadn't been jealous of Ayden and thrown me in your car, Eros would never have had to come to my rescue which started this whole fiasco." "Don't try to pin this on me!"
"The lonely lone wolf didn't deny he loved Aurora." Blake chuckled and dodged out of the Aussie's swack.
"Ugh." Ayden walked beside me and put a hand around my waist.
"Now I have to compete for your affection with both Blake and Matthias."
I rolled a dramatic shrug. "I tried to put him down easy, but he's so infatuated. It's embarrassing. Even with all those other girls after him."
"I can't bloody stand you!" Blake sighed. "Me thinks he doth confess too much."

E quotes by E. E. Cummings
Every husband knows that nuclear energy is not the most powerful force on earth. It's not even a close second. The most powerful and awesome force on earth is a woman's emotions. Nothing can match it in sheer intensity and shocking impact. I truly believe that one twenty-minute outburst from a woman could power a small town for three days. ~ David E. Clarke
E quotes by David E. Clarke
When will women begin to have the first glimmer that above all other loyalties is the loyalty toTruth, i.e., to yourself, that husband, children, friends and countryare as nothing to that. ~ Alice James
E quotes by Alice James
As to the causation, of the feeling of meaningless, one may say, albeit in an oversimplifying way, that people have enough to live by but nothing to live for; they have the means but no meaning. ~ Viktor E. Frankl
E quotes by Viktor E. Frankl
A prince, in the turn of a moment and a few words, was now a king. ~ Mary E. Pearson
E quotes by Mary E. Pearson

E quotes by Jewel E. Ann
Structure your thought pattern to what you want to achieve and who you want to become. ~ Jaachynma N.E. Agu
E quotes by Jaachynma N.E. Agu
Whatever thought grips the mind at the time of death is the one which will propel it and decide for it the nature of its future birth. Thus if one wants to attain god after death, one has to think of him steadfastly ... This is not as simple as it sounds, for at the time of death the mind automatically flies to the thought of an object (i.e. money, love) which has possessed it during its sojourn in the world. Thus one must think of god constantly. ~ Stephen Mitchell
E quotes by Stephen Mitchell
You cannot barter manhood for peace. ~ Robert E.Lee
E quotes by Robert E.Lee
Kell had a strange feeling about the girl, but he pushed it aside. ~ V.E Schwab
E quotes by V.E Schwab
You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. ~ E. M. Forster
E quotes by E. M. Forster
Who would have thought that a human and a dragon could make such a perfect match? ~ E.D. Baker
E quotes by E.D. Baker
It's not my job to make you happy. It's your job to learn that only those who quit selfishly seeking their own happiness find it. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
E quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
I honestly can't believe how people can think they can do dirt and not get dirty.

And for those slinging mud ...take a look at your hands. ~ Karen E. Quinones Miller
E quotes by Karen E. Quinones Miller
The liberation children experience when they discover the Internet is quickly counteracted by the lure of e-commerce web sites, which are customized to each individual user's psychological profile in order to maximize their effectiveness. ~ Douglas Rushkoff
E quotes by Douglas Rushkoff
I won't sell any Facebook shares as long as I'm on the board. When I leave, all my Facebook shares will be donated to two or three D.C. education-related charities I've supported over the years. Thus, a small portion of Facebook's success will be shared with low income students in Washington. ~ Donald E. Graham
E quotes by Donald E. Graham
9.01 Nausea catalogs the indigestible contents of the stomach that are to be brought up.
9.02 Memory that is nauseating catalogs the contents of the mind that can never be brought up. ~ E.L. Doctorow
E quotes by E.L. Doctorow
I know they say that a picture's worth a thousand words, but it's amazing how often those words tell the wrong story. ~ Jacqueline E. Smith
E quotes by Jacqueline E. Smith
Such was a poet and shall be and is
-who'll solve the depths of horror to defend a sunbeam's architecture with his life: and carve immortal jungles of despair to hold a mountain's heartbeat in his hand. ~ E. E. Cummings
E quotes by E. E. Cummings
I want you to know that it is not always easy to love me. That sometimes my chest is a field full of landmines, and where you went last night, you can't go tomorrow. There is no manual, there is no road map, no help line you can call; my body does not come with instructions, and sometimes even I don't know what to do with it. This cannot be easy. But still, you touch me anyway. ~ Ivan E. Coyote
E quotes by Ivan E. Coyote
The pathway to educational excellence lies within each school. ~ Terrence E. Deal
E quotes by Terrence E. Deal
This homosexual dream of perfect metaphysical union is not so much a reflected heterosexual ideal as it is the compensation for having wept in the darkness. ~ Thomas E. Yingling
E quotes by Thomas E. Yingling
I mean, come on. If they really wished you were there, they'd have invited you in the first place, right? It's kind of mean, if you really think about it. It should say: 'Greece: Where nobody's all that upset you're not here. ~ Jennifer E. Smith
E quotes by Jennifer E. Smith
Our "in tune with my feelings" era believes that to be true to myself, to be authentic, means I need to act on my feelings. But the opposite is true. In fact, true authenticity means I maintain a trust through thick and thin. ~ Paul E. Miller
E quotes by Paul E. Miller
I am like a table cloth..sit ,eat, drink spread the dirt and through it..when you need it then wash it and do this again. ~ Sher E Yazdan
E quotes by Sher E Yazdan
Can you tell me in one sentence what is meant by logotherapy?" he asked. "At least, what is the difference between psychoanalysis and logotherapy?" "Yes," I said, "but in the first place, can you tell me in one sentence what you think the essence of psychoanalysis is?" This was his answer: "During psychoanalysis, the patient must lie down on a couch and tell you things which sometimes are very disagreeable to tell." Whereupon I immediately retorted with the following improvisation: "Now, in logotherapy the patient may remain sitting erect but he must hear things which sometimes are very disagreeable to hear. ~ Viktor E. Frankl
E quotes by Viktor E. Frankl
him who standeth, take heed lest he fall. ~ E. M. Forster
E quotes by E. M. Forster
Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. People grow old by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but giving up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair - these are the long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust. You are as young as your faith and as old as your doubts; as young as you self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair. ~ James E. Faust
E quotes by James E. Faust
There is no such thing as perfect. But even if there was, I would pick you over perfection any day. ~ Jacqueline E. Smith
E quotes by Jacqueline E. Smith
But at the heart of character is the ability to restrain our desires. As a man grows in character, he builds the muscles of self-restraint. ~ Richard E. Simmons III
E quotes by Richard E. Simmons III
What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.
Ralph Waldo Emerson ~ Catherine E. McLean
E quotes by Catherine E. McLean
Art comes from a visceral need and is usually generated by something I have seen; writing comes from something that happens in my head and my heart. ~ E.L. Konigsburg
E quotes by E.L. Konigsburg
The true work of art leads us from that which exists only once and never again, i.e. the individual, to that which exists perpetually and time and time again in innumerable manifestations, the pure form or Idea; but the waxwork figure appears to present the individual itself, that is to say that which exists only once and never again, but without that which lends value to such a fleeting existence, without life. That is why the waxwork evokes a feeling of horror: it produces the effect of a rigid corpse. ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
E quotes by Arthur Schopenhauer
He saw no particular humor in it, and was too new to civilization to understand its discourtesies. Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. He was bewildered and chagrined, and doubtless would have slunk away, abashed, but the Kothian chose ~ Robert E. Howard
E quotes by Robert E. Howard
We gotta do it for Johnny...Let's do it for Johnny! ~ S.E. Hinton
E quotes by S.E. Hinton
Room is the wrong word. It's not a room - it's a mission statement. ~ E.L. James
E quotes by E.L. James
Most smiles are started by another smile. ~ E.C. McKenzie
E quotes by E.C. McKenzie
Choice
I needed it like I needed air.
Bit no one could hear me.
No one could listen.
No words. No sound.
No voice.
I couldn't even dream myself away.
Choices were made.
None of them mine.
At first I wondered if it was hell.
And then I knew it was. ~ Mary E. Pearson
E quotes by Mary E. Pearson
Manz, formerly one of Zwingli's closest allies, held that there was no biblical warrant for infant baptism. Refusing to recant his views, he was tied up and drowned in the River Limmat. ~ Alister E. McGrath
E quotes by Alister E. McGrath
I flush at the waywardness of my subconscious - she's doing her happy dance in a bright red hula skirt ~ E.L. James
E quotes by E.L. James

You want to play on your Xbox?" I ask. He laughs loudly. "No, Anastasia, no Xbox, no Playstation. Come. ~ E.L. James
E quotes by E.L. James
Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the action of people. For this reason, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by a prayer, i.e. by a wish addressed to a Supernatural Being.
- Albert Einstein, 1936, responding to a child who wrote and asked if scientists pray; quoted in: Albert Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas & Banesh Hoffmann ~ Albert Einstein
E quotes by Albert Einstein
There ought to be a law against necessity. ~ E.Y. Harburg
E quotes by E.Y. Harburg
I spent hours apart by myself, taking stock of where I stood, mentally, on this my thirtieth birthday. It came to me queerly how, four years ago, I had meant to be a general and knighted, when thirty. Such temporal dignities were now in my grasp, only that my sense of falsity of the Arab position had cured me of crude ambition: while it left me craving for good repute among men. This craving made me profoundly suspect my truthfulness to myself. Only too good an actor could so impress his favorable opinion. Here were the Arabs believing me, Allenby and Clayton trusting me, my bodyguard dying for me: and I began to wonder if all established reputations were founded, like mine, on fraud. ~ T.E. Lawrence
E quotes by T.E. Lawrence
May came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone. ~ E. E. Cummings
E quotes by E. E. Cummings
The spell started to brush across my skin, tasting me, telling me what it wanted....
Nothing compared to power flowing through you, over you, around you. It was a alluring, sensual as it wound through my hair, cuddled with my skin. It wanted me to swirl the power, to tickle it with light and sound, and it sang to me of spells long lost. ~ N.E. Conneely
E quotes by N.E. Conneely
Jesus, in fact, was typical of a certain kind of fanatical young idealist: at one moment holding forth, with tears in his eyes, about the need for universal love; at the next, furiously denouncing the morons, crooks and bigots who did not see eye to eye with him. It is very natural and very human behaviour. But it is not superhuman. ~ Margaret E. Knight
E quotes by Margaret E. Knight
He watched God flip through a few records before pulling one. He slid the vinyl out as carefully as Day would before placing it on the turntable. Soon Day's room was filled with the soft sounds of George Howard's Midnight Moods. It was a smooth, sexy jazz album; definitely one for making love to. Day's ~ A.E. Via
E quotes by A.E. Via
and he became a communist. He was court-martialed but allowed to resign from the army. In the revolutions of 1848 he fought to overthrow his king and, failing, fled to America. There he became first a carpenter and then the editor of a German-language newspaper in Cincinnati with a slant so leftist he earned the nickname "Reddest of the Red." When the Civil War came, Willich recruited fifteen hundred Cincinnati Germans within a matter of hours and helped organize the Ninth Ohio-now marching with the XIV Corps. ~ Steven E. Woodworth
E quotes by Steven E. Woodworth
I was re-watching 'E.T.' recently, and that scene where they're all around the pizza, bringing the pizza in, and gambling and stuff together, it's such an amazing tone, it's so rough, and nobody's really talking about anything, and it feels like you're in that room with them. ~ Colin Trevorrow
E quotes by Colin Trevorrow
One evening he appeared with an infant in his arms at the door of his ex-wife, Martha. Because Briony, his lovely young wife after Martha, had died. Of what? We'll get to that. I can't do this alone, Andrew said, as Martha stared at him from the open doorway. It happened to have been snowing that night, and Martha was transfixed by the soft creature-like snowflakes alighting on Andrew's NY Yankees hat brim. Martha was like that, enrapt by the peripheral things as if setting them to music. Even in ordinary times, she was slow to respond, looking at you with her large dark rolling protuberant eyes. Then the smile would come, or the nod, or the shake of the head. Meanwhile the heat from her home drifted through the open door and fogged up Andrew's eyeglasses. He stood there behind his foggy lenses like a blind man in the snowfall and was without volition when at last she reached out, gently took the swaddled infant from him, stepped back, and closed the door in his face. ~ E.L. Doctorow
E quotes by E.L. Doctorow
Then why do they hate me?
No, they don't. They are just confused. Something different always confuses others. It makes them feel uncomfortable. ~ E. Mellyberry
E quotes by E. Mellyberry
It was becoming more and more evident that Salem was a town that celebrated individuality, a real live-and-let-live kind of place. Melody felt a gut punch of regret. Her old nose would have fit in here.
"Look!" She pointed at the multicolored car whizzing by. Its black door were from a Mercedes coupe, the white hood from a BMW; the silver trunk was Jaguar, the red convertible top was Lexus, the whitewall tires were Bentley, the sound system was Bose, and the music was classical. A hood ornament from each model dangled from the rear view mirror. Its license plate appropriately read MUTT.
"That car looks like a moving Benton ad."
"Or a pileup on Rodeo drive." Candace snapped a picture with her iPhone and e-mailed to her friends back home. They responded instantly with a shot of what they were doing. It must have involved the mall because Candace picked up her pace and began asking anyone under the age of fifty where the cool people hung out. ~ Lisi Harrison
E quotes by Lisi Harrison
What the Lord is saying here is: "It doesn't matter what you did. Whatever it was, no matter how horrible or vile, is not the issue. The issue here is that whatever your sin was or is I can erase it, I can clean you up and make you innocent, pure, and worthy, and I can do it today; I can do it now. ~ Stephen E. Robinson
E quotes by Stephen E. Robinson
She is sunshine, she is light...she is his. ~ E.L. James
E quotes by E.L. James
I sometimes wonder if life isn't a giant mirror that reflects back at me everything I hold up to it. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
E quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
A man who let himself decline because he could not see any future goal found himself occupied with retrospective thoughts. In a different connection, we have already spoken of the tendency there was to look into the past, to help make the present, with all its horrors, less real. But in robbing the present of its reality there lay a certain danger. It became easy to overlook the opportunities to make something positive of camp life, opportunities ~ Viktor E. Frankl
E quotes by Viktor E. Frankl
Sitting there with Val's warm little body against my side and his silky-soft hair against my cheek, I felt happy and peaceful. Before this I had loved Val because he was Ronnie's son, but now I loved him for himself... and I knew there would be no more trouble. He would feel miserable at times--that could not be helped--but he would let me comfort him. And I saw how foolish I had been to fuss and worry about "the right approach" because of course "the right approach" to all our fellow creatures is just to love them. ~ D.E. Stevenson
E quotes by D.E. Stevenson
As a nation, we are on a path of rapid and deep systemic change to our health system, and it's going to unfold for some time to come. It is already transforming the fundamental nature of the U.S. medical care delivery system. ~ John E. McDonough
E quotes by John E. McDonough
Coincidence: just another way of explaining the unexplainable. ~ Dana E. Donovan
E quotes by Dana E. Donovan
America faces a new race that has awakened. ~ E. Franklin Frazier
E quotes by E. Franklin Frazier
Do you not see what damage has been done to science through this: i.e. pedants wishing to be philosophers; to treat of natural things, and mix themselves with and decide about things Divine? ~ Giordano Bruno
E quotes by Giordano Bruno
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again. ~ A.E. Housman
E quotes by A.E. Housman
I prefer to solve the world's problems. They never seem as complicated as my own. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
E quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
As a kind of castaway myself, I was happy to escape into the fictional world of someone else's trouble. ~ Octavia E. Butler
E quotes by Octavia E. Butler
Freedom isn't worth a single solitary shit if it isn't shared. ~ Alix E. Harrow
E quotes by Alix E. Harrow
A woman who writes has power, and a woman with power is feared. ~ Gloria E Anzaldua
E quotes by Gloria E Anzaldua
Uncle had learned long ago that obeying a rule in fact but not in spirit was very hard on people who say we for I and who do not allow dogs on their premises. ~ E.L. Konigsburg
E quotes by E.L. Konigsburg
Bypasses are devices that allow some people to dash from point A to point B very fast while other people dash from point B to point A very fast. People living at point C, being a point directly in between, are often given to wonder what's so great about point A that so many people from point B are so keen to get there, and what's so great about point B that so many people from point A are so keen to get there. They often wish that people would just once and for all work out where the hell they wanted to be. Mr. Prosser wanted to be at point D. Point D wasn't anywhere in particular, it was just any convenient point a very long way from points A, B and C. He would have a nice little cottage at point D, with axes over the door, and spend a pleasant amount of time at point E, which would be the nearest pub to point D. His wife of course wanted climbing roses, but he wanted axes. He didn't know why - he just liked axes. He flushed hotly under the derisive grins of the bulldozer drivers. ~ Douglas Adams
E quotes by Douglas Adams
So after E, it's A for 'Acceptable,' and that's the last pass grade, isn't it?"
"Yep," said Fred, dunking an entire roll in his soup, transferring it to his mouth, and swallowing it whole.
"Then you get P for 'Poor' " - Ron raised both his arms in mock celebration - "and D for 'Dreadful.' "
"And then T," George reminded him.
"T?" asked Hermione, looking appalled. "Even lower than a D? What on earth does that stand for?"
" 'Troll,' " said George promptly. ~ J.K. Rowling
E quotes by J.K. Rowling
A pumpkin lives but once a year
when someone sets its soul afire
and on that night it stirs up fear
until its flame is snuffed.
But e'en one night of eerie light is fright enough. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
E quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
An acquaintance had become a lover, might become a husband, but would retain all that she had noted in the acquaintance; and love must confirm an old relation rather than reveal a new one. ~ E. M. Forster
E quotes by E. M. Forster
Colonel Sven Haverstrom of the Dalbreck Royal Guard, Assigned Steward of Crown Prince Jaxon. The others laughed at that title. They were free with their jest and jabs, even with an officer who outranked them, but Sven gave it back as good as he got it.
Officer Jeb McCance, Falworth Special Forces.
Officer Tavish Baird, Tactician, Fourth Battalion.
Officer Orrin del Aransas, Falworth First Archer Assault Unit. ~ Mary E. Pearson
E quotes by Mary E. Pearson
The moment a person feels he has nothing left to learn is the moment life prepares to hit him hard enough to correct such ignorance. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
E quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
Finally, here at home, in one of her first decisions as Secretary of State, she set up a private e-mail server in her basement in violation of our national security. Let's face the facts: Hillary Clinton cared more about protecting her own secrets than she cared about protecting America's secrets. ~ Chris Christie
E quotes by Chris Christie
Nobody gets everything in this life. You decide your priorities and you make your choices. I'd decided long ago that any cake I had would be eaten. ~ Donald E. Westlake
E quotes by Donald E. Westlake
It's because you're thinking big picture. That'll knock the wind out of you every time. You have to take it in pieces. ~ Jennifer E. Smith
E quotes by Jennifer E. Smith
If only you would kiss me.
Press your lips to mine like a searing iron. Wrap me in your arms as if you were a monarch claiming a kingdom. Hold me close until I warm through to the core. Do this, and I promise to melt into you, no longer a cold and frozen figure in your narrowed sight. How devoted I would be if only your lips burned for mine!
If only you would kiss me. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
