Remember my experiments with the RTG and having a hot bath? Same principle, but I came up with an improvement: submerge the RTG. No heat will be wasted that way. I started with a large rigid sample container (or "plastic box" to people who don't work at NASA). I ran a tube through the open top and down the inside wall. Then I coiled it in the bottom to make a spiral. I glued it in place like that and sealed the end. Using my smallest drill bit, I put dozens of little holes in the coil. The idea is for the freezing return air from the regulator to pass through the water as a bunch of little bubbles. The increased surface area will get the heat into the air better. Then I got a medium flexible sample container ("Ziploc bag") and tried to seal the RTG in it. But the RTG has an irregular shape, and I couldn't get all the air out of the bag. I can't allow any air in there. ~ Andy Weir
Drill Bit quotes by Andy Weir
The sound of diesel fuel rushing through grimy pistons and cylinders below a morning-fogged window bored through his ears like a deep-water drill bit, and the thump of his own heartbeat cursed him for breaking one of his many rules. ~ Luke Taylor
Drill Bit quotes by Luke Taylor
I've never before met anyone whose outside so matched their soul. You could drill clean through Didier and find nothing but layer upon layer of beauty, dark and strange and kind and prurient, but all of it perfectly, utterly pure. ~ Cara McKenna
Drill Bit quotes by Cara McKenna
As I've got older, and since I cut all my hair off, I've felt a bit more liberated about trying different things out. ~ Emma Watson
Drill Bit quotes by Emma Watson
Over the years, I was doing what I loved to do, which is my music. But it was always a bit distorted, because I was doing the music in the way other people around me were telling me it should be done. ~ India.Arie
Drill Bit quotes by India.Arie
She looked u at me through tear-stained cheeks and stammered, "My dad won't give me a Porsche when I come home if I don;t get all A's." I was a bit stunned. IT was my first encounter with real wealth. I remember looking at her and thinking, Holy shit. Being spoiled is worse abuse that being hit. At least I knew that being hit is wrong, But being spoiled ruins you. ~ Jewel
Drill Bit quotes by Jewel
It was a wartime story, goodies versus baddies, lots of explosions and shooting. The Germans always shouted 'Aiiieeee!' as they died. Atkins wondered what he would choose, confronted with similar circumstances. 'Aiiieeee!' seemed to him to lack the necessary gravitas and originality, as well as sounding a bit, well, German. But then who knew what might come to mind, in those final moments? ~ Alastair Reynolds
Drill Bit quotes by Alastair Reynolds
It's OK to have a little bit of curve. ~ Miranda Lambert
Drill Bit quotes by Miranda Lambert
I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don't feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid's runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are - particularly when it's difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it's done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain ("I'm not a big one for paying compliments ... "), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself. For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain. ~ Jonathan Carroll
Drill Bit quotes by Jonathan Carroll
Stella: I got a nose for trouble. I can smell it ten miles away ... I can smell trouble right here in this apartment. First you smash your leg. Then you get to lookin' out the window. See things you shouldn't see. Trouble. I can see you in court now, surrounded by a bunch of lawyers in double-breasted suits. You're pleading: 'Judge, it was only a little bit of innocent fun. I love my neighbors like a father.' And the Judge says, 'Well, congratulations, you've just given birth to three years in ... ' ~ Thelma Ritter
Drill Bit quotes by Thelma Ritter
I love the stuff that makes you laugh and cry. It kind of sucker-punches you a little bit. That's the thing that most interests me as a performer, in addition to telling the most captivating story. ~ Matt McGorry
Drill Bit quotes by Matt McGorry
It took a bit of talking through administrative people, but only once did an attorney try and get in the way of the process and say their artist couldn't do it. ~ Jules Shear
Drill Bit quotes by Jules Shear
There is hardly a place on Earth where people do not log, pave, spray, drain, flood, graze, fish, plow, burn, drill, spill or dump. There is no life zone, with the possible exception of the deep ocean, that we are not degrading. ~ Donella Meadows
Drill Bit quotes by Donella Meadows
A sign that negotiations were handled well on both sides is that everybody probably feels a little bit like they didn't get what they wanted. ~ Christopher Lloyd
Drill Bit quotes by Christopher Lloyd
I'm a bit of a propagandist. ~ David Hockney
Drill Bit quotes by David Hockney
I think the main thing is trying to be fair, sometimes there has to be a little bit of discipline, maybe even punishment involved in trying to make your child understand, learn from bad experiences and make sure they don't happen again. ~ Archie Manning
Drill Bit quotes by Archie Manning
If you'll not let me be spiritual about it, you'll have to put up wi' my baser nature. I'm going to be a beast." He bit my neck. "Do ye want me to be a horse, a bear, or a dog? ~ Diana Gabaldon
Drill Bit quotes by Diana Gabaldon
It sometimes seems to me that in this life we've all got to have trouble sooner or later, and some of us gets it bit by bit, spread out thin, so to speak, and a few of us gets it in a lump - biff! ~ P.G. Wodehouse
Drill Bit quotes by P.G. Wodehouse
He told me he had a wife and daughter, and then he showed me a picture of an 8-year-old girl, to which I said, "Don't you think she's a bit too young to be a wife and mother?" Fucking pedophiles. ~ Jarod Kintz
Drill Bit quotes by Jarod Kintz
I have reached the conclusion, a bit late perhaps, that speeches should be short. ~ Fidel Castro
Drill Bit quotes by Fidel Castro
Change is always a little bit strange. ~ Brendon Urie
Drill Bit quotes by Brendon Urie
I'm childish and silly. Most people tease me because I'm a bit daft. ~ Harriet Walter
Drill Bit quotes by Harriet Walter
I daresay we've heard a bit about original sin, but not nearly enough about original glory, which comes before sin and is deeper to our nature. We were crowned with glory and honor. Why does a woman long to be beautiful? Why does a man hope to be found brave? Because we remember, if only faintly, that we were once more than we are now. ~ John Eldredge
Drill Bit quotes by John Eldredge
I've always sort of marveled at our ability to chat and match, because of, I come, honestly I think of myself of as a little bit of hack, and think like that, and I think of her [Mia Michaels] as an artist. ~ Adam Shankman
Drill Bit quotes by Adam Shankman
I seem to disappoint people a bit. They want the full regalia - but I don't walk around in a corset the whole time. ~ Erin O'Connor
Drill Bit quotes by Erin O'Connor
I should add, in Amy's defense, that she'd asked me twice if I wanted to talk, if I was sure I wanted to do this. I sometimes leave out details like that. It's more convenient for me. In truth, I wanted her to read my mind so I didn't have to stoop to the womanly art of articulation. I was sometimes as guilty of playing the figure-me-out game as Amy was. I've left that bit of information out, too. ~ Gillian Flynn
Drill Bit quotes by Gillian Flynn
I've always tried to walk a line between being incisive and acerbic, but not mean. Sometimes I'm going to tip over the line a little bit, but that's usually a line I try not to cross. ~ Mark Leibovich
Drill Bit quotes by Mark Leibovich
In the drawing room [of the Queen's palace] hung a Venus and Cupid by Michaelangelo, in which, instead of a bit of drapery, the painter has placed Cupid's foot between Venus's thighs. Queen Caroline asked General Guise, an old connoisseur, if it was not a very fine piece? He replied Madam, the painter was a fool, for he has placed the foot where the hand should be. ~ Horace Walpole
Drill Bit quotes by Horace Walpole
…to own only a little talent…was an awful, plaguing thing….being only a little bit special meant you expected too much, most of the time ~ Mary A. Robinson
Drill Bit quotes by Mary A. Robinson
The hand that rested on my shoulder rubbed it a bit, comfortingly. Then it gave my shoulder a little squeeze. I leaned into him.

Maybe it was that I was broken. Maybe it was just that I was out of my mind. But it occurred to me that I was going to kiss him. The thought just arrived, certain knowledge, delivered from some greater, more knowledgeable place. I was going to kiss him. Stephen would not want to kiss me. He would back up in horror. And yet, I was still going to do it. I reached over, and put my hand against his chest, then I moved closer. I could feel just the very tips of the gentle stubble on his cheek brushing against my skin.

"Rory," he said. But it was a quiet protest, and it went nowhere.

For the first few seconds, he didn't move-he accepted the kiss like you might accept a spoonful of medicine. Then I heard it, a sigh, like he had finally set down a heavy weight.

I was pretty sure we were both kind of terrified, but I was completely sure that we were both doing this. We kissed slowly, very deliberately, coming together and then pulling apart and looking at each other. Then each kiss got longer, and then it didn't stop. Stephen put his hand just under the edge of my shirt, holding it on the spot where the scar was. Sometimes the skin around the scar got cold-now it was warm. Now it was alive.

"So Thorpe says that-Seriously?"

Callum was in the doorway.

Stephen mumbled what I think was ~ Maureen Johnson
Drill Bit quotes by Maureen Johnson
If you are extremely well known and have a very desirable product, then yes, you probably do suffer a bit from piracy, in the same way that if you make a lot of money, you pay more in taxes than if you don't make any money. ~ Tim O'Reilly
Drill Bit quotes by Tim O'Reilly
I don't much care for all this talk of God washing away all my dirt. I like a bit of grit around the edges. It gives me character and does a passable job of faking depth, from a distance. ~ Thomm Quackenbush
Drill Bit quotes by Thomm Quackenbush
We have time for everything:
to sleep, to run from one place to another,
to regret having mistaken and to mistake again,
to judge the others and to forgive
ourselves
we have time for reading and writing,
for making corrections to our texts, to regret ever having
written

we have time to make plans and time not to respect them,

we have time for ambitions and sicknesses,
time to blame the destiny and the details,

we have time to watch the clouds, advertisements or
some ordinary accident,
we have time to chase our wonders away
and to postpone the answers,
we have time to break a dream to pieces and then
to reinvent it,

we have time to make friends, to lose friends,
we have time to receive lessons and forget them afterwards,

we have time to receive gifts and not to understand them.

We have time for them all.
There is no time for just a bit of tenderness.
When we are aware about to do this we die.

I've learned that you cannot make someone love you;
All you can do is to be a loved person.
the rest … depends on the others.

I've learned that as much as I care
others might not care.

I've learned that it takes years to earn trust
and just a few seconds to lose it.

I've learned that it does not matter WHAT you have in your life
but WHO you ha ~ Octavian Paler
Drill Bit quotes by Octavian Paler
I think that when you're 5'4 and 150 pounds and you love to chat and you have a blog about shopping, trying to maintain a tiny bit of mystery where you possibly can is not a bad thing. ~ Mindy Kaling
Drill Bit quotes by Mindy Kaling
The stories I'm interested in are challenging ones, and maybe that requires a little bit more of you. I love my job and I want to earn the right to do it every single day. ~ Daniel Radcliffe
Drill Bit quotes by Daniel Radcliffe
I always find Victoria's Secret models a bit weird. ~ Edie Campbell
Drill Bit quotes by Edie Campbell
There is something glamorous to me in taking a bit of a beating and keeping on going. ~ Chris Martin
Drill Bit quotes by Chris Martin
The duke nudged his ball a bit forward from the rest of the pile. "You do realize," he said to no one in particular, "that I have never played Pall Mall before?"
"Just give the ball a good whack in that direction, darling," Daphne said, pointing to the first wicket.
"Isn't that the last wicket?" Anthony asked.
"It's the first."
"It ought to be the last."
Daphne's jaw jutted out. "I set up the course, and it's the first."
"I think this might get bloody," Edwina whispered to Kate.
The duke turned to Anthony and flashed him a false smile. "I believe I'll take Daphne's word for it."
"She did set up the course," Kate cut in.
Anthony, Colin, Simon, and Daphne all looked at her in shock, as if they couldn't quite believe she'd had the nerve to enter the conversation.
"Well, she did," Kate said.
Daphne looped her arm through hers. "I do believe I adore you, Kate Sheffield," she announced.
"God help me," Anthony muttered.
The duke drew back his mallet, let fly, and soon the orange ball was hurtling along the lawn.
"Well done, Simon!" Daphne cried out.
Colin turned and looked at his sister with disdain. "One never cheers one's opponents in Pall Mall," he said archly.
"He's never played before," she said. "He's not likely to win."
"Doesn't matter."
Daphne turned to Kate and Edwina and explained, "Bad sportsmanship is a requirement in Bridgerton Pall Mall, I'm afraid."
"I'd ga ~ Julia Quinn
Drill Bit quotes by Julia Quinn
I'm glad being shipwrecked appeals to you."
"Captain Walken made a point of avoiding that word."
"Well, he was trying to keep everyone jolly, wasn't he. It's no good having everyone running around screaming and eating each other."
"I wouldn't run around screaming," she said. "I can see eating someone in a pinch, though. If it really came down to it, I mean."
"I don't doubt it."
"Come on, Matt Cruse, don't you find it just a bit exciting, being here?"
"No."
She looked at me as if I'd suggested we stop breathing for a few hours. ~ Kenneth Oppel
Drill Bit quotes by Kenneth Oppel
They all say, Go on to graduate studies, and they give you a bit of money; so you do, and you think, Now I'm going to find out the real truth. But you don't find out, exactly, and things get pickier and pickier and more and more stale, and it all collapses in a welter of commas and shredded footnotes, and after a while it's like anything else: you've got stuck in it and you can't get out, and you wonder how you got there in the first place. ~ Margaret Atwood
Drill Bit quotes by Margaret Atwood
I understand that show business people can wear the public a bit thin when it comes to politics. I know they wear me thin. ~ Clint Howard
Drill Bit quotes by Clint Howard
Hackney gets a bit of a bad rap, but it's the only place I've ever lived that felt like a community. I know my neighbours. ~ Sharon Horgan
Drill Bit quotes by Sharon Horgan
I had a very simple life growing up in the farm country outside of Perugia, and biscotti and warm milk with a tiny bit of coffee were a big part of my morning ritual before walking to school. ~ Brunello Cucinelli
Drill Bit quotes by Brunello Cucinelli
Well, listen then. On the other side, fresh young lives thrown away for want of help and by thousands, on every side! A hundred thousand good deeds could be done and helped, on that old woman's money which will be buried in a monastery! Hundreds, thousands perhaps, might be set on the right path; dozens of families saved from destitution, from ruin, from vice, from the Lock hospitals - and all with her money. Kill her, take her money and with the help of it devote oneself to the service of humanity and the good of all. What do you think, would not one tiny crime be wiped out by thousands of good deeds? For one life thousands would be saved from corruption and decay. One death, and a hundred lives in exchange - it's simple arithmetic! Besides, what value has the life of that sickly, stupid, ill-natured old woman in the balance of existence! No more than the life of a louse, of a black-beetle, less in fact because the old woman is doing harm. She is wearing out the lives of others; the other day she bit Lizaveta's finger out of spite; it almost had to be amputated. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
