In 5-billion years the Sun will expand & engulf our orbit as the charred ember that was once Earth vaporizes. Have a nice day. ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Doomsday quotes by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
The construction of the nuclear doomsday machine - and its continued maintenance and development since the mid-twentieth century - is surely one of the most astounding acts of collective insanity in the history of the human species. ~ Richard L. Currier
Doomsday quotes by Richard L. Currier
Every age has its own way of mythmaking. Ancient Egypt had its myths, the Sumerians and the Assyrians, the Christians and the Muslims, the North and the South
the style of creating myths always varies. What myths are being created as a shelter even in the chaotic atmosphere of today! Until doomsday humanity will create these shelters. What else could people do when they come from one darkness and travel to another? And with so much deprivation? Man remains man so long as he dreams. ~ Yasar Kemal
Doomsday quotes by Yasar Kemal
Doomsday sells, but doesn't ring with truth. Could it be that the Apocalypse is a personal eschatology? ~ Stefan Emunds
Doomsday quotes by Stefan Emunds
I learned the Norse gods came with their own doomsday: Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods, the end of it all. The gods were going to battle the frost giants, and they were all going to die.

Had Ragnarok happened yet? Was it still to happen? I did not know then. I am not certain now. ~ Neil Gaiman
Doomsday quotes by Neil Gaiman
Since I've moved here, you have shown up at my door eight times. I obey the laws, I pay my taxes, and I haven't even gotten a parking ticket in my entire time as a driver. Yet if anything at all happens in the neighborhood, you appear at my door. I bet if a meteorite fell somewhere in the subdivision, you would be here asking me if I personally launched it out of my doomsday cannon. ~ Ilona Andrews
Doomsday quotes by Ilona Andrews
The James Bond movies and the comic books had it all wrong. You did not need elaborate contraptions, complicated plans, and futuristic doomsday weapons to wipe out of all of humankind. All you needed was a fully realized vision and an intense focus. All you needed to do is give a little push to what was already happening; what was inevitable.
All you had to do is get one group of people who believe in an invisible man in the sky to get really pissed off at another group of people who believe in a slightly different version of the same invisible man in the sky. ~ James J. Caterino
Doomsday quotes by James J. Caterino
Thirty seconds after the explosion came first, the air blast pressing hard against people and things, to be followed almost immediately by the strong, sustained, awesome roar which warned of doomsday and made us feel that we puny things were blasphemous to dare tamper with the forces heretofore reserved to the Almighty. ~ Cynthia C. Kelly
Doomsday quotes by Cynthia C. Kelly
He looked at the sky once more. Men had gone out there, he thought in wonder, and couldn't think why. Singly and in small groups they had gone into strange lands, across wide seas, had climbed mountains where no human foot had ever trod. And he couldn't think why they had done these things. What impulse had driven them from their own kind to perish alone, or among strangers. ~ Kate Wilhelm
Doomsday quotes by Kate Wilhelm
Time has a doomsday book, upon whose pages he is continually recording illustrious names. But as often as a new name is written there, an old one disappears. Only a few stand in illuminated characters never to be effaced. ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Doomsday quotes by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Did you ever think one day you'd live through a global pandemic, with a doomsday virus, and the Joker is president? Sounds like a bad made-for-TV scifi movie. ~ Oliver Markus Malloy
Doomsday quotes by Oliver Markus Malloy
Fools, when their roof-tree falls, think it doomsday. ~ James Russell Lowell
Doomsday quotes by James Russell Lowell
Al Gore is producing enough hot air to make his doomsday predictions about global warming a self-fulfilling prophecy. ~ Joseph Farah
Doomsday quotes by Joseph Farah
She frowned. "I did nothing to arouse you."
He clenched his jaw, his stare growing more aggressive. "You breathed. ~ Shayla Black
Doomsday quotes by Shayla Black
The living and dead were thrown together, and the dead looked away first.

-Description of Doomsday ~ Stanley Elkin
Doomsday quotes by Stanley Elkin
Wasn't so much that I didn't have faith in my team, but that I maintained the truest fans always reverted to a doomsday position in the same way that parents always worried about tragedy befalling their children. ~ Emily Giffin
Doomsday quotes by Emily Giffin
For a man who is in poverty, doomsday is already there! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Doomsday quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
This is what the beginning of the end of the world will look like ~ Guillermo Del Toro
Doomsday quotes by Guillermo Del Toro
with this sudden outbreak spreading so rapidly, I question whether there is any truth to the doomsday prophecy that had been circulating all year. After all, it is 2012, and it's very possible the world could end soon. ~ Ann Greyson
Doomsday quotes by Ann Greyson
He felt sandbagged. Doomsday, Armageddon. Booze begets instant misconduct and regret. He walked to the couch and fell down. ~ James Ellroy
Doomsday quotes by James Ellroy
Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Doomsday quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
That's why I tell stories: to create readiness, to nudge the people toward receptive insight. In their present state they can stare till doomsday and not see it, listen till they're blue in the face and not get it. ~ Eugene H. Peterson
Doomsday quotes by Eugene H. Peterson
Secular humanists of every type may ridicule the Bible, but they cannot escape it; and in their obsession with change, calls for reform, doomsday warnings, and utopian visions, they continue to steal from it. ~ Gene Edward Veith Jr.
Doomsday quotes by Gene Edward Veith Jr.
Whenever I happen to be in a city of any size, I marvel that riots do not break out everyday: Massacres, unspeakable carnage, a doomsday chaos. How can so many human beings coexist in a space so confined without hating each other to death? ~ Emil Cioran
Doomsday quotes by Emil Cioran
The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once. ~ Alex Kozinski
Doomsday quotes by Alex Kozinski
I'm not going to take this defeatist attitude and listen to all this crap any more from all these people who have nothing except doomsday to predict. ~ Carroll Shelby
Doomsday quotes by Carroll Shelby
You think they could stop putting these experts on the news with their doomsday scenarios of how the terrorists might attack us? Because you get the sense they're coming up with ideas that these people haven't thought of themselves. ~ Greg Giraldo
Doomsday quotes by Greg Giraldo
Is Reading Doomsday Conspiracy!!!!!! ~ Sidney Sheldon
Doomsday quotes by Sidney Sheldon
Kyria Abrahams, former teen bride of a doomsday cult and seeker of salvation in slam poetry, tells the terribly funny story of her improbable life with candor, wit, and an unsparing eye for the perfect detail. Brilliant. ~ Janice Erlbaum
Doomsday quotes by Janice Erlbaum
It is the fear of death
24/7 in every shade of hospital white and doomsday black
that sells the pharmaceutical, political, financial, film, and food product promising to make good the wish to live forever. ~ Lewis H. Lapham
Doomsday quotes by Lewis H. Lapham
Thank God for imminent doomsday. ~ Jim Butcher
Doomsday quotes by Jim Butcher
We have always trusted the control of our doomsday devices to the "key" elected of our nations.
The current "interests" reorganizing the world now transcend the interests of nations.
So these weapons will only be launched to serve interests other than that of the nations that launch them;

Hence the "key" elected… ~ Haroutioun Bochnakian
Doomsday quotes by Haroutioun Bochnakian
For everyone who, having no artistic sense-that is to say, no submission to subjective reality-may have the knack of reasoning about art till doomsday, especially if he be, in addition, a diplomat or financier in contact with the 'realities' of the present day, is only too ready to believe literature is an intellectual game which is destined to gradually be abandoned as time goes on. ~ Marcel Proust
Doomsday quotes by Marcel Proust
I find the Doomsday picture Al Gore is painting - a six-meter sea level rise, fifteen times the IPCC number - entirely without merit ... I protest vigorously the idea that the climate reacts like a home heating system to a changed setting of the thermostat: just turn the dial, and the desired temperature will soon be reached. ~ Hendrik Tennekes
Doomsday quotes by Hendrik Tennekes
One of the illusions is that the present hour is not the critical, decisive hour. Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. No man has learned anything rightly until he knows that every day is Doomsday. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Doomsday quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
I can't pray or weigh my words right; doomsday
is here my friend, but you're immune. We suffer
for you. I'm weaving crowns of sonnets, dreads;
a souvenir so you'll never forget your friends. ~ Jalina Mhyana
Doomsday quotes by Jalina Mhyana
A woman's touch?!' he repeated, 'What is he thinking hermano?
Stukeley frowned. 'Captain doesn't know whether it's dinnertime or doomsday, mate. That's the state Lady Losckwood's got him in.We'be tried to talk some sense into him, but it just goes in one ear and out the other. IT's not as if he had much of an attention span to begin with, but since Lady Muck came on to the scene ... ~ Justin Somper
Doomsday quotes by Justin Somper
His existence had always been comfortable, he had always held a clear picture of himself, his duties, and his place in a world. He saw that world as a place so full of turning gears he had no hope of comprehending how things fit together, so why even try?
Now things were different, however. Now he wasn't just looking out from inside of the clockwork. Instead, he was actually seeing the final motion of the escapement - the ticking hands of the clock itself.
And it was a doomsday clock.
Both his feline and human instincts told him to let it be. It was not his problem, or his place to interfere. If the living world was destined to fall, let it happen, let it pass into history once and for all. Who was he to try to save it?
But on the other hand, if the living world were lost, then there would never again be great cats to furjack ... and couldn't it be that hearing the actual ticking of the clock gave one the responsibility to stop it? ~ Neal Shusterman
Doomsday quotes by Neal Shusterman
There were two different expectations in this land of the future. On the one hand the the optimistic belief in an unending progress with millenarianistic overtones and on the other hand the doomsday expectation of the final battle of Armageddon. Both are perspectives are uniquely American and both are inter-related. ~ Jurgen Moltmann
Doomsday quotes by Jurgen Moltmann
He said a ritual, right?" asked Becky. "Maybe he's part of one of those doomsday cults where you have to cut off your wang and wear a track suit. They always think the world is going to end for no good reason. ~ Dennis Liggio
Doomsday quotes by Dennis Liggio
If silence of the days and darkness of the nights is the indicator of the doomsday; we are already in it. ~ M.F. Moonzajer
Doomsday quotes by M.F. Moonzajer
I didn't really comprehend what was happening or how tonight had changed us and the course of our future, but I instinctively knew that things would never be the same again. Something had ended and something was definitely beginning, I just didn't have the knowledge base to know what. ~ J.M. Northup
Doomsday quotes by J.M. Northup
My excellent colleagues have forgotten these bitter lessons of history. The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime usually do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed only for those exceptionally rare circumstances when all other rights have failed. A free people can only afford to make this mistake once. ~ Alex Kozinski
Doomsday quotes by Alex Kozinski
Cyber Leader: Daleks, be warned. You have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war - this is pest control!
Cyber Leader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
Cyber Leader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You superior in only one respect.
Cyber Leader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying. ~ Russell T. Davies
Doomsday quotes by Russell T. Davies
As I ran a few blades of grass between my fingers, enjoying the breeze as it caressed my face, I contemplated the cycle of life. As this year would host the long anticipated arrival of the Mayan Doomsday, marking the end of their long count calendar, I wasn't alone in my ponderings. The whole world was focused on the potential that we would be the last generation; the witnesses of the world's end. ~ J.M. Northup
Doomsday quotes by J.M. Northup
There appears to be a lot of confusion about the biological benefits of elevated CO2 because the popular media typically fails to report them. Doomsday scenarios of global warming are much more dramatic than the good news of global greening. ~ Keith E. Idso
Doomsday quotes by Keith E. Idso
Sadie Kane here. If you're listening to this, congratulations, you survived doomsday. ~ Rick Riordan
Doomsday quotes by Rick Riordan
You can say the Jesus Prayer from now till doomsday, but if you don't realize that the only thing that counts in the religious life is detachment, I don't see how you ever move an inch. Detachment, buddy, and only detachment. Desirelessness. 'Cessations from all hankerings.' It's this business of desiring, if you want to know the goddam truth, that makes an actor in the first place. Why're you making me tell you things you already know? Somewhere along the line - in one damn incarnation or another, if you like - you not only had a hankering to be an actor or an actress but to be a good one. You're stuck with it now. You can't just walk out on the results of your own hankerings. Cause and effect, buddy, cause and effect. The only thing you can do now, the only religious thing you can do, is act. Act for God, if you want to - be God's actress, if you want to. What could be prettier? ~ J.D. Salinger
Doomsday quotes by J.D. Salinger
As I become a part of you, you become a part of me. I will be honest, good, and true. I heed your Call. 'Tis you I seek. From this moment on, there is no other for me but you. ~ Shayla Black
Doomsday quotes by Shayla Black
I don't know how it happened. Nobody does. There are only theories, empty rhetoric and doomsday prophecies. None of them are right, but none of them are completely wrong, either. They all have a grain of truth. All I know is where I was and what I was doing when it happened. ~ Summer Lane
Doomsday quotes by Summer Lane
A piece of advice: if you want to remain in control of a doomsday cult, don't give a date for the end of the world unless you're really, really sure it's going to happen. Being wrong tends to undermine your authority. ~ Jennifer Bosworth
Doomsday quotes by Jennifer Bosworth
When I was your age - about, ooh, a thousand years ago - I loved a good bedtime story. The Three Little Sontarans. The Emperor Dalek's New Clothes. Snow White and the Seven Keys to Doomsday, eh? All the classics. ~ Mark Gatiss
Doomsday quotes by Mark Gatiss
He didn't disagree with me, but he seemed to feel that I have a perfection complex of some kind. Much talk from him, and quite intelligent, on the virtues of living the imperfect life, of accepting one's own and others' weaknesses. I agree with him, but only in theory. I'll champion indiscrimination till doomsday, on the grounds that it leads to health and a kind of very real, enviable happiness. Followed purely it's the way of the Tao, and undoubtedly the highest way. But for a discriminating man to achieve this, it would mean that he would have to dispossess himself of poetry, go beyond poetry. That is, he couldn't possibly learn or drive himself to like bad poetry in the abstract, let alone equate it with good poetry. He would have to drop poetry altogether. I said it would be no easy thing to do. Dr Sims said I was putting it too stringently – putting it, he said, as only a perfectionist would. ~ J.D. Salinger
Doomsday quotes by J.D. Salinger
Many do not recognize the fact as they ought, that Satan has got men fast asleep in sin and that it is his great device to keep them so. He does not care what we do if he can do that. We may sing songs about the sweet by and by, preach sermons and say prayers until doomsday, and he will never concern himself about us, if we don't wake anybody up. But if we awake the sleeping sinner he will gnash on us with his teeth. This is our work - to wake people up. ~ Catherine Booth
Doomsday quotes by Catherine Booth
I don't know about you, but I believe that in our present time we are definitely shaking things up with human fate in this world. ~ Kat Lahr
Doomsday quotes by Kat Lahr
The worst lie ever told is that it is easier to destroy than to create. This lie makes people apathetic about a number of imminently avoidable horrors, particularly the nuclear ones. But Oppenheimer didn't just go outside one day and trip over an atomic bomb. Nuclear development required trillions of dollars and a massive sustained effort by America's top politicians, military advisors, and scientific geniuses. Not one damn bit of it was easy. It was certainly harder that sitting down with Stalin or Khrushchev and having a talk . . .
America had options. The path of destruction was a choice. It has always been America's choice, and we citizens have always shrugged, assuming it's too late to turn back the doomsday clock, although we're the ones who wound it in the first place. ~ Israel Morrow
Doomsday quotes by Israel Morrow
It is clear that we cannot go up another two orders of magnitude as we have climbed the last five. If we did, we should have two scientists for every man, woman, child, and dog in the population, and we should spend on them twice as much money as we had. Scientific doomsday is therefore less than a century distant. ~ Derek J. De Solla Price
Doomsday quotes by Derek J. De Solla Price
Originality is the most deadly mirage in all of art. You can chase it from now until doomsday, and you'll only find yourself lost and dying of thirst. ~ Caitlin R. Kiernan
Doomsday quotes by Caitlin R. Kiernan
The only end in sight was Yossarian's own, and he might have remained in the hospital until doomsday had it not been for that patriotic Texan with his infundibuliform jowls and his lumpy, rumpleheaded, indestructible smile cracked forever across the front of his face like the brim of a black ten-gallon hat. ~ Joseph Heller
Doomsday quotes by Joseph Heller
So much of 'Doomsday' is taken from the early 'Mad Max' films. ~ Neil Marshall
Doomsday quotes by Neil Marshall
When you're at peace, you embrace the eternity.
When you're confused, you be dazzled by doomsday. ~ Toba Beta
Doomsday quotes by Toba Beta
Let us say, as a thought experiment, that someone in a country equipped with doomsday weapons fears attack from another country and strikes preemptively. There would be thousands of years of cultural history and some few decades of personal history behind the decision. Madman though he might be, he would have brought the species to a culmination that humankind had been preparing for eons. To say that a spasm of activity in a region of his brain was crucial to the event would be utterly trivial. ~ Marilynne Robinson
Doomsday quotes by Marilynne Robinson
We need to get environmentalism out of the sphere of religion. We need to stop the mythic fantasies, and we need to stop the doomsday predictions. We need to start doing hard science instead. ~ Michael Crichton
Doomsday quotes by Michael Crichton
In the writings of many contemporary psychics and mystics (e.g., Gopi Krishna, Shri Rajneesh, Frannie Steiger, John White, Hal Lindsay, and several dozen others whose names I have mercifully forgotten) there is a repeated prediction that the Earth is about to be afflicted with unprecedented calamities, including every possible type of natural catastrophe from Earthquakes to pole shifts. Most of humanity will be destroyed, these seers inform us cheerfully. This cataclysm is referred to, by many of them, as "the Great Purification" or "the Great Cleansing," and is supposed to be a punishment for our sins.

I find the morality and theology of this Doomsday Brigade highly questionable. A large part of the Native American population was exterminated in the 19th century; I cannot regard that as a "Great Cleansing" or believe that the Indians were being punished for their sins. Nor can I think of Hitler's death camps, or Hiroshima or Nagasaki, as "Great Purifications." And I can't make myself believe that the millions killed by plagues, cancers, natural catastrophes, etc., throughout history were all singled out by some Cosmic Intelligence for punishment, while the survivors were preserved due to their virtues. To accept the idea of "God" implicit in such views is logically to hold that everybody hit by a car deserved it, and we should not try to get him to a hospital and save his life, since "God" wants him dead.

I don't know who are the worst sinners on this p ~ Robert Anton Wilson
Doomsday quotes by Robert Anton Wilson
Climate change is no longer a doomsday prophecy, it's a reality. ~ Astrid Noklebye Heiberg
Doomsday quotes by Astrid Noklebye Heiberg
They locked me in my room and told me I was grounded until Doomsday. I didn't have the heart to tell them that might be tonight. ~ Rick Riordan
Doomsday quotes by Rick Riordan
Gee, I wish we had one of them doomsday machines things. ~ Stanley Kubrick
Doomsday quotes by Stanley Kubrick
If that doomsday scenario happens, will it help if you have heaps of paper money? I don't think so. ~ Bjorn Ulvaeus
Doomsday quotes by Bjorn Ulvaeus
I fell silent after that. I didn't want to talk about such things anymore, at least today. My chest already hurt and I was trying to keep my mind calm. I didn't want to think of a future so bleak and dark. I had plans for my future and they didn't involve the world ending or society collapsing. ~ J.M. Northup
Doomsday quotes by J.M. Northup
What, may I ask, does your one truck contain if not gowns?"
Inspiration struck, and Elizabeth smiled radiantly. "Something of great value. Priceless value," she confided.
All faces at the table watched her with alert fascination-particularly the greedy Sir Francis. "Well, don't keep us in suspense, love. What's in it?"
"The mortal remains of Saint Jacob."
Lady Eloise and Lady Mortand screamed in unison, Sir William choked on his wine, and Sir Francis gaped at her in horror, but Elizabeth wasn't quite finished. She saved the coup de grace until the meal was over. As soon as everyone arose she insisted they sit back down so a proper prayer of gratitude could be said. Raising her hands heavenward, Elizabeth turned a simple grace into a stinging tirade against the sins of lust and promiscuity that rose to crescendo as she called down the vengeance of doomsday on all transgressors and culminated in a terrifyingly lurid description of the terrors that awaited all who strayed down the path of lechery-terrors that combined dragon lore with mythology, a smattering of religion, and a liberal dash of her own vivid imagination. When it was done Elizabeth dropped her eyes, praying in earnest that tonight would loose her from her predicament. There was no more she could do; she'd played out her hand with all her might; she'd given it her all.
It was enough. After supper Sir Francis escorted her to her chamber and, with a poor attempt at regret, announced that he gr ~ Judith McNaught
Doomsday quotes by Judith McNaught
Louise: "How did you get here?"
Johnny: "Well, basically, there was this little dot, right? And the dot went bang and the bang expanded. Energy formed into matter, matter cooled, matter lived, the amoeba to fish, to fish to fowl, to fowl to frog, to frog to mammal, the mammal to monkey, to monkey to man, amo amas amat, quid pro quo, memento mori, ad infinitum, sprinkle on a little bit of grated cheese and leave under the grill till Doomsday. ~ Mike Leigh
Doomsday quotes by Mike Leigh
For Tolkien's taste there were too few dragons in ancient literature, indeed by his count only three – the Miðgarðsorm or 'Worm of Middle-earth' which was to destroy the god Thor at Ragnarök, the Norse Doomsday; the dragon which Beowulf fights and kills at the cost of his own life; and Fafnir, who is killed by the Norse hero Sigurd. ~ Tom Shippey
Doomsday quotes by Tom Shippey
He is like a man living through the night before doomsday, with full knowledge that the sun will go nova in the morning, yet unable to enjoy the precious pleasures of this world because all his energy is devoted to wishing desperately that the foreseen end will not, after all, come to pass. ~ Dean Koontz
Doomsday quotes by Dean Koontz
Some call them doomsday ships. These lightspeed ships have no destination at all. They turn their curvature engines to maximum and accelerate like crazy, infinitely approaching the speed of light. Their goal is to leap across time using relativity until they reach the heat death of the universe. By their calculations, ten years within their frame of reference would equal fifty billion years in ours. As a matter of fact, you don't even need to plan for it. If some malfunction occurs after a ship has accelerated to lightspeed, preventing the ship from decelerating, then you'd also reach the end of the universe within your lifetime. ~ Liu Cixin
Doomsday quotes by Liu Cixin
The messiah arrives when it is already too late. He arrives when doomsday has already struck ~ Soroosh Shahrivar
Doomsday quotes by Soroosh Shahrivar
And with the smallest intake of breath he had painted me a picture. Ash that stung your tongue like poisoned snowflakes and breaths of air that burned your lungs without fire ~ Quil Carter
Doomsday quotes by Quil Carter
One of the things that all religions have is a narrative of doomsday. There has to be some kind of overarching fear of the future. If there wasn't, none of the religions could invoke this important thing - that science has no evidence of, by the way - called free will. ~ Greg Graffin
Doomsday quotes by Greg Graffin
Mr. Clinton," he had said, when Henry ventured to inquire about a particularly ambiguous examination, "you may write until doomsday for all I care, but if your answers do not coincide with my answers they are wrong. Wrong, sir. ~ Harper Lee
Doomsday quotes by Harper Lee
A little girl of seventeen in a mental hospital told me she was terrified because the Atom Bomb was inside her. That is a delusion. The statesmen of the world who boast and threaten that they have Doomsday weapons are far more dangerous, and far more estranged from 'reality' than many of the people on whom the label 'psychotic' is fixed. ~ R.D. Laing
Doomsday quotes by R.D. Laing
It was as if the region were just putting the finishing touches on its seamless, corporatized hegemony, complete with just enough of a gesture of sentimental respect for the nature around it; complete with fresh, new ways of keeping the body toned and healthy; a rhetoric of inclusiveness that kept all the classes in their place; and a final transformation of the land they'd stolen from its aborigines. But at the same time, ragged marginals, fueled by deep resentment--hand in hand with savage Nature--could be plotting, perhaps even unconsciously, its violent downfall. How much I wanted to be a part of their imagined doomsday scenario! ~ Bruce Benderson
Doomsday quotes by Bruce Benderson
Maybe I should have gone back to Weight Watchers and tried harder to lose my luscious hips and overlarge ass. If I'd known it might keep me from being abducted by aliens, you bet I would have counted points until Doomsday. It's ~ Evangeline Anderson
Doomsday quotes by Evangeline Anderson
I have hope for the world, although it is ten minutes before Doomsday. Women all over the world are rising up and infusing the anti-nuclear and peace movements with a vitality and creativity never seen before. ~ Petra Kelly
Doomsday quotes by Petra Kelly
You might prove doctrine from the Bible till doomsday, and it would merely convince a people, but would not convert them. You might read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations, and prove every iota that you advance, and that alone would have no converting influence upon the people. Nothing short of a testimony by the power of the Holy Ghost would bring light and knowledge to them
bring them in their hearts to repentance. Nothing short of that would ever do. ~ Brigham Young
Doomsday quotes by Brigham Young
The global economy is a doomsday machine that must be stopped and reprogrammed. ~ Kalle Lasn
Doomsday quotes by Kalle Lasn
We seem to be heading for a state of affairs in which the determination of whether or not Doomsday has arrived will be made either by an automatic device ... or by a pre-programmed president who, whether he knows it or not, will be carrying out orders written years before by some operations analyst. ~ Herbert York
Doomsday quotes by Herbert York
One of the illusions of life is that the present hour is not the critical, decisive hour. Write it on your hear that every day is the best day of the year. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Doomsday quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Never had a good gut feeling. It wasn't so much that I didn't have faith in my team, but that I maintained the truest fans always reverted to a doomsday position ~ Emily Giffin
Doomsday quotes by Emily Giffin
I don't think I can really believe in doomsday; I could hardly believe in rewards and punishments, in heaven or hell. As I wrote down in one of my sonnets - I seem to be always plagiarizing, imitating myself or somebody else for that matter - I think I am quite unworthy of heaven or of hell, and even of immortality. ~ Jorge Luis Borges
Doomsday quotes by Jorge Luis Borges
There's a big overlap between conspiracy theorists, racists, gun nuts, doomsday preppers, fans of the rapture and poor white Republicans. They all have one thing in common: They feel like the oppressed underdogs. ~ Oliver Markus Malloy
Doomsday quotes by Oliver Markus Malloy
There are no guarantees in life, but after any major disaster two separate and distinct groups will emerge - the Prepared and the Unprepared. It's up to you which group you'll belong to. As far as I'm concerned, the ultimate measure of this book's success will be how many people it can help guide into the "Prepared group. ~ Richard Duarte
Doomsday quotes by Richard Duarte
There's a way to live like a god. ~ Stefan Emunds
Doomsday quotes by Stefan Emunds
Rose:i love you
Doctor:Quite right, and i guess if it's my last chance to say it ... Rose Tyler ...
(the doctor fades, him in his TARDIS, with tear tracks and a tear running down his cheek) ~ Russell T. Davies
Doomsday quotes by Russell T. Davies
We're growing up together, the human race. And we've discovered a lot of things that we didn't know. We're finding our way. Instead of thinking about doomsday all the time, think about how beautiful the world is. We're all together, and together we're getting wiser. ~ Yoko Ono
Doomsday quotes by Yoko Ono
In the half-century of his life, a tick on the Doomsday clock, he had borne witness to the most unbelievable technological advances. He had started off listening to an old Bush radio in the corner of the living room and now he had a phone in his hand on which he could pretend to throw a scrunched-up piece of paper into a waste bin. The world had waited a long time for that. ~ Kate Atkinson
Doomsday quotes by Kate Atkinson
Doomsday, when it came, wouldn't be a physical phenomenon; it would be an
all-inclusive erasure of simulectronic circuits. ~ Daniel F. Galouye
Doomsday quotes by Daniel F. Galouye
Instant-doomsday hyperbole caused the world's attention to focus on the hypothetical threat of global warming to the exclusion of environmental menaces that are real, palpable, and awful right now. ~ Gregg Easterbrook
