Divemaster Skills quotes by Martin Faulks
Harry doesn't like people, you see." "I do like people," Harry said. "I just don't like being with them. Particularly when there's a lot of them at the same time. ~ Jo Nesbø

A juggler's skill hath been long years alearning. ~ Martin Farquhar Tupper
Divemaster Skills quotes by Martin Farquhar Tupper
We've reached a point in human history where higher education no longer works. As a result of technology, higher education in its traditional college setting no longer works. It will never be effective or progressive enough to keep up with the growing needs of employers who look to college institutions for their future employees.

I can appreciate the good intent the college system set out to achieve. For previous generations, the formula actually worked. Students enrolled into universities that were affordable, they gained marketable skills and they earned good jobs. Since there was a proven track record of success, parents instilled the value of college in their children thinking they would achieve the same success story they did, but unfortunately Wall Street was watching. Wall Street, the federal government and the college system ganged up and skyrocketed the cost of tuition to record highs. This was easy to do because not only did they have posters blanketing high schools showing kids what a loser they would be if they didn't go to college, they also had Mom and Dad at home telling them the same thing.

This system - spending 4+ years pursuing a college education when the world is changing at the speed of light - no longer works and it's not fixable. We now have the biggest employer's market in human history, where employers have their pick of the litter, and because of this employees will get paid less and less and benefits will continue to erode. ~ Michael Price
Divemaster Skills quotes by Michael Price
I think that people who are famous tend to be underdeveloped in their humanity skills. ~ Diane Keaton
Divemaster Skills quotes by Diane Keaton
We postpone our literary work until we have more ripeness and skill to write, and we one day discover that our literary talent wasa youthful effervescence which we have now lost. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Divemaster Skills quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Schools are even less efficient in the arrangement of the circumstances which encourage the open-ended, exploratory use of acquired skills, for which I will reserve the term "liberal education." The main reason for this is that school is obligatory and becomes schooling for schooling's sake: an enforced stay in the company of teachers, which pays off in the doubtful privilege of more such company. Just as skill instruction must be freed from curricular restraints, so must liberal education be dissociated from obligatory attendance. Both skill-learning
and education for inventive and creative behavior can be aided by institutional arrangement, but they are of a different, frequently opposed nature. ~ Ivan Illich
Divemaster Skills quotes by Ivan Illich
Research shows that whether you are low-income or not, mindset is a bigger predictor of success than academic skills, and how students gain great academic skills and persevere in the face of challenges. ~ Wendy Kopp
Divemaster Skills quotes by Wendy Kopp
Maybe it doesn't matter how smart you are or aren't, but how much you are willing to learn. ~ Geetanjali Mukherjee
Divemaster Skills quotes by Geetanjali Mukherjee
As damaging as the obsessive emphasis on testing often proves to be for kids in general, I believe that the effects are still more harmful in those schools in which the resources available to help the children learn the skills that will be measured by these tests are fewest, the scores they get are predictably the lowest, and the strategies resorted to by principals in order to escape the odium attaching to a disappointing set of numbers tend to be the most severe. ~ Jonathan Kozol
Divemaster Skills quotes by Jonathan Kozol
Better be careful talking about how good my cooking is. Roslyn might get jealous."
The vampire madam let out a soft laugh. "Oh, I'll freely admit that your cooking is much better than mine, Gin. But I have certain skills you don't, especially in the bedroom. I think that Xavier far prefers those, even over a plate of the Pork Pit's best barbecue."
Roslyn gave Xavier a sly look, and the giant's grin widened.
"Well played, Roslyn," I murmured. "Well played. ~ Jennifer Estep
Divemaster Skills quotes by Jennifer Estep
Until competency management platforms gain widespread acceptance, "badges" or "stackable credentials" are unlikely to gain much traction. The notion that educated adults, like the boy and girl scouts they once were, will prefer to flaunt a collection of badges testifying to skills they have demonstrated is flawed for one reason. While degrees are validated by a single institution with a recognizable form (i.e., colleges and universities), who is validating a collection of badges? Who vouches that a student has demonstrated a given skill? Although many visionary organizations are seeking to enter this market, outside of IT none currently has the ability or credibility to authenticate such credentials in a way that would be acceptable to a critical mass of employers and students. ~ Ryan Craig
Divemaster Skills quotes by Ryan Craig
She'd been a hard taskmistress - How can you be a grown-up if you can't look after yourself? she'd challenged - but she had taught him what no Greek mother ever taught a son: the basic humdrum skills required for independence. ~ Alison Fell
Divemaster Skills quotes by Alison Fell
Remi's lips parted as he panted. His eyes darkened. "Yes. I want you."
"Then what else is there? Mate me."
"Oh goddess. Yes!" Remi shuddered. "I… I'm going to bite you and take your blood. Then I'm going to make love to you - going to claim you. Take what's mine. Then… then you're going to do the same… exact… thing to me."
Holy. Fuck. Emotions flooded me, but I couldn't seem to grasp any one thing. Desire, anxiety, confusion, need. They were all there. I wanted him. I wanted him desperately, but all this talk about making love… I had never made love.
Oh, I fucked. A lot, actually. I couldn't count the men and women who'd been in my bed. None of them I made love to, though. I damn sure hadn't given my ass to any one of them either. Remi would be my first. "Can't wait. Remi, I've never…."
"I know. You've never… and my first experience was less than pleasant. What a pair we make." Remi kissed my cockhead. "But I will do everything I can to make sure you like it."
My partners always came - I made sure of it and prided myself on my skills. I often took over and, well… controlled the whole thing. But for once I was going to lie back and let someone else do the work. No, not someone else. Remi. I was giving him control. Remi explored as much as he wanted, and I didn't try to take over. He purred softly as he nosed my cock. I clenched the bedding. Oh God, please just….
He licked the tip, and my eyes rolled. I liked getting my cock sucked as well as ~ M.A. Church

Doubt is an unwillingness to communicate. ~ Meir Ezra

Unwanted events occur and you lack certain skills for minimizing the personal impact. ~ Graeme Simsion

The ability to draw from life determines the artist's skill. This is why live drawing classes have always been at the top of the curriculum for properly structured academic workshops. ~ Igor Babailov
Divemaster Skills quotes by Igor Babailov
Great teachers had great personalities and that the greatest teachers had outrageous personalities. I did not like decorum or rectitude in a classroom; I preferred a highly oxygenated atmosphere, a climate of intemperance, rhetoric, and feverish melodrama. And I wanted my teachers to make me smart. A great teacher is my adversary, my conqueror, commissioned to chastise me. He leaves me tame and grateful for the new language he has purloined from other kings whose granaries are filled and whose libraries are famous. He tells me that teaching is the art of theft: of knowing what to steal and from whom. Bad teachers do not touch me; the great ones never leave me. They ride with me during all my days, and I pass on to others what they have imparted to me. I exchange their handy gifts with strangers on trains, and I pretend the gifts are mine. I steal from the great teachers. And the truly wonderful thing about them is they would applaud my theft, laugh at the thought of it, realizing they had taught me their larcenous skills well. ~ Pat Conroy
Divemaster Skills quotes by Pat Conroy
The ability to step aside from the rest of the world has given the Gypsies a lot of survival skills to match their really dark sense of humour. The Gypsies are survivors ~ Karl Wiggins
Divemaster Skills quotes by Karl Wiggins
We regard the minimum wage rate as one of the most, if not the most, antiblack laws on the statute books. The government first provides schools in which many young people, disproportionately black, are educated so poorly that they do not have the skills that would enable them to get good wages. It then penalizes them a second time by preventing them from offering to work for low wages as a means of inducing employers to give them on-the-job training. All this is in the name of helping the poor. ~ Milton Friedman
Divemaster Skills quotes by Milton Friedman

Sometimes very small children in a proper environment develop a skill and exactness in their work that can only surprise us. ~ Maria Montessori
Divemaster Skills quotes by Maria Montessori
The ability to overcome failure
to live through it and move on
is crucial. If we are not willing to face failure
if we don't have the skills to survive it
we have precluded any real creativity or risk. Failure may never become our friend, but if we are to do meaningful work, perhaps failure needs to be our companion. ~ John Hunter
Divemaster Skills quotes by John Hunter

Happiness is a skill. It requires effort and time. ~ Andrew Weil
Divemaster Skills quotes by Andrew Weil
Everybody tries to protect this vulnerable two three four five six seven eight year old inside, and to acquire skills and aptitudes for dealing with the situations that threaten to overwhelm it... Usually, that child is a wretchedly isolated undeveloped little being. It's been protected by the efficient armour, it's never participated in life, it's never been exposed to living and to managing the person's affairs, it's never been given responsibility for taking the brunt. And it's never properly lived. That's how it is in almost everybody. And that little creature is sitting there, behind the armour, peering through the slits. And in its own self, it is still unprotected, incapable, inexperienced...

And in fact, that child is the only real thing in them. It's their humanity, their real individuality, the one that can't understand why it was born and that knows it will have to die, in no matter how crowded a place, quite on its own. That's the carrier of all the living qualities. It's the centre of all the possible magic and revelation. What doesn't come out of that creature isn't worth having, or it's worth having only as a tool - for that creature to use and turn to account and make meaningful...

And so, wherever life takes it by surprise, and suddenly the artificial self of adaptations proves inadequate, and fails to ward off the invasion of raw experience, that inner self is thrown into the front line - unprepared, with all its childhood terrors round ~ Ted Hughes
Divemaster Skills quotes by Ted Hughes
