Consider these traditional theories of domestic abuse:
-Learned helplessness suggest that abused women learn to become helpless under abusive conditions; they are powerless to extricate themselves from such relationships and/or unable to make adaptive choices
-The cycle of violence describes a pattern that includes a contrition or honeymoon phase. The abusive husband becomes contrite and apologetic after a violent episode, making concerted efforts to get back in his wife's good graces.
-Traumatic bonding attempts to explain the inexplicable bond that is formed between a woman and her abusive partner
-The theory of past reenactments posits that women in abusive relationships are reliving unconscious feelings from early childhood scenarios.
My research results and experience with patients do not conform to these concepts. I have found that the upscale abused wife is not a victim of learned helplessness. Rather, she makes specific decisions along the path to be involved in the abusive marriage, including silent strategizing as she chooses to stay or leave the marriage. Nor does the upscale abused wife experience the classic cycle of violence, replete with the honeymoon stage, in which the husband courts his wife to seek her forgiveness. As in the case of Sally and Ray, the man of means actually does little to seek his wife's forgiveness after a violent episode.
Further, the upscale abused wife voices more attachment to her lifestyle than the trauma ~ Susan Weitzman
Dispersing Phase quotes by Susan Weitzman
This is the same power that I feel propelling me forward into the next phase of my life. God saved my soul and spared my life for a reason: He left me to tell my story to others and show as many people as possible the healing power of His love and forgiveness. ~ Immaculee Ilibagiza
Dispersing Phase quotes by Immaculee Ilibagiza
History is thorough, and passes through many phases when it bears an old figure to the grave. The last phase of a world historical figure is its comedy. ~ Karl Marx
Dispersing Phase quotes by Karl Marx
I totally think there was a country hair phase. If you look at all the mullets, and Dolly Parton, and Reba's hair, Tim McGraw's hair, Blake Shelton's hair, they definitely had their moments. ~ Julianne Hough
Dispersing Phase quotes by Julianne Hough
Religious persons are generally very interested in sex just like any normal person - and have an imagination and the energy for it. When constrained by the guilt cycle, however, they keep it under wraps. When guilt is temporarily removed, they can go to the other extreme. Many can remain in the uninhibited phase for weeks - months at most - then a wave of guilt overtakes them. ~ Darrel Ray
Dispersing Phase quotes by Darrel Ray
I look at my career and I feel like I haven't even started yet. I feel like I haven't even begun to shift the planet. But I'm so excited because Rock of Ages is one of the first steps of that new phase in my life. ~ Mia Michaels
Dispersing Phase quotes by Mia Michaels
You're not a phase, Leila. If anything, you're the only thing in my life that makes sense these days." I ~ Sara Farizan
Dispersing Phase quotes by Sara Farizan
Aerobic dancing is already adjusting to injury problems and will probably phase out to some extent. ~ Kenneth H. Cooper
Dispersing Phase quotes by Kenneth H. Cooper
You may not be the target audience for new music anymore. But that just means you have to scrounge a little harder to find it. You don't necessarily want to make a religion out of it; you just want to keep participating. Music isn't an accessory to a lifestyle
it's part of a life. It's not a youthful phase you go through. ~ Rob Sheffield
Dispersing Phase quotes by Rob Sheffield
[A]t least since the late nineteenth century when the primary role in categorising sexual behaviour and naming what is 'normal' and what is 'perverse' passed, in most industrial societies, from the religious to the medical and scientific professions, we have lived with the notion of distinct categories of people labelled 'homosexual' and 'heterosexual'. (The category 'homosexual' was coined by the Viennese writer Karol Benkert in 1869, 'heterosexual' emerging somewhat later.) Since that time, new discourses have tried to establish the male 'homosexual' as a distinct type of person - as opposed to same-sex attraction or same-sex acts being seen as a potential in everyone. As Peter Tatchell ['It's Just a Phase: Why Homosexuality is Doomed', in Simpson (ed.), Anti-Gay, London: Cassell. 1996] puts it, 'prior to that time … there were only homosexual acts, not homosexual people … [For] the medieval Catholic Church … homosexuality was not … the special sin of a unique class of people but a dangerous temptation to which any mortal might succumb. This doctrine implicitly conceded the attractiveness of same-sex desire, and unwittingly acknowledged its pervasive, universal potential ~ Richard Dunphy
Dispersing Phase quotes by Richard Dunphy
for everything that has any
kind of existence, even error, has necessarily its reason for existence,
and disorder itself must in the end find its place among the elements
of universal order. Thus, whereas the modern world considered in
itself is an anomaly and even a sort of monstrosity, it is no less true
that, when viewed in relation to the whole historical cycle of which
it is a part, it corresponds exactly to the conditions pertaining to a
certain phase of that cycle, the phase that the Hindu tradition speci-
fies as the final period of the Kali-Yuga. It is these conditions, arising ~ Rene Guenon
Dispersing Phase quotes by Rene Guenon
If an artist is any good at all, then he or she will have a later phase that's more interesting than the early one. ~ Clive James
Dispersing Phase quotes by Clive James
My mind is clear! Yay! This is so cool. I need to tell Chris. Oh, I wonder how hard the next phase will be. I can't wait to try possessing another gorilla. ~ John Corwin
Dispersing Phase quotes by John Corwin
Mathematicians had to accept the fact that systems with infinitely many degrees of freedom-untrammeled nature expressing itself in a turbulent waterfall or an unpredictable brain-required a phase space of infinite dimensions. But who could handle such a thing? It was a hydra, merciless and uncontrollable, and it was Landau's image for turbulence: infinite modes, infinite degrees of freedom, infinite dimensions. ~ James Gleick
Dispersing Phase quotes by James Gleick
The real question is: What is expiation? Is it compatible with a pure image of God? Is it not a phase in man's religious development that we need to move beyond? If Jesus is to be the new messenger of God, should he not be opposing this notion? So the actual point at issue is whether the New Testament texts - if read rightly - articulate an understanding of expiation that we too can accept, whether we are prepared to listen to the whole of the message that it offers us. ~ Pope Benedict XVI
Dispersing Phase quotes by Pope Benedict XVI
Be persistent and never give up. I had to deal with facing stereotypes and had a lot of people doubt me and my ability to drum, but I didn't let it phase me. You just have to believe in yourself. And of course, PRACTICE. ~ Jess Bowen
Dispersing Phase quotes by Jess Bowen
As a child I was a good boy. Even if I wasn't playing tennis I don't think I'd have done things like smoking or getting drunk. I'm lucky I never liked the taste of alcohol - I know, I'm Scottish so what's wrong with me? - but I never even liked the smell of the stuff. It's the same with smoking, it never appealed to me. I guess I missed out on my Kevin-The-Teenager phase. ~ Andy Murray
Dispersing Phase quotes by Andy Murray
My natural hair is jet black. I used to have it down to my bum. And I went through a phase of being obsessed with fake tan. So from the age of 14 to 16, I looked like an Apache Indian! ~ Abbey Clancy
Dispersing Phase quotes by Abbey Clancy
Life can be tough at times, people can be hard to handle, and things may go upside down as they sometimes will, but during every phase of life if you both can be together, make the ways to come out of the troubles and face the challenges of life together then you know? It's true.
Meant to be don't just happen! ~ Jyoti Patel
Dispersing Phase quotes by Jyoti Patel
Like the Dove, the Lamb, and the Cock adorning our church towers. Yet all this does not alter the fact that in childhood we go through a phase when archaic thinking and feeling once more rise up in us, and that all through our lives we possess, side by side with our newly acquired directed and adapted thinking, a fantasy-thinking which corresponds to the antique state of mind. Just as our bodies still retain vestiges of obsolete functions and conditions in many of their organs, so our minds, which have apparently outgrown those archaic impulses, still bear the marks of the evolutionary stages we have traversed, and re-echo the dim bygone in dreams and fantasies. ~ C. G. Jung
Dispersing Phase quotes by C. G. Jung
Bereavement is not the truncation of married love, but one of its regular phases---like the honeymoon. What we want is to live our marriage well and faithfully through that phase too. ~ C.S. Lewis
Dispersing Phase quotes by C.S. Lewis
The moon doesn't consider one phase better than another. She just glows, equally stunning at each turn. Why should we be any different? ~ Cristen Rodgers
Dispersing Phase quotes by Cristen Rodgers
Thus an excess of directness and a want of art, in the second phase, robbed Caesar of his chance of ending the war in one campaign, and condemned him to four more years of obstinate warfare all round the Mediterranean basin. ~ B.H. Liddell Hart
Dispersing Phase quotes by B.H. Liddell Hart
If dimensions are virtual like the particles in quantum foam are virtual then, entanglement is information that is in more than one location (hologram).
There are no particles, they may be wave packets but the idea of quantum is, a precise ratio of action in relationship to the environment.
Feynman's path integral is not infinite, it is fractal.
If you look at a star many light years away, the photon that hits your eye leaves the star precisely when the timing for the journey will end at your eye because the virtual dimension of the journey is zero distance or zero time. Wheeler said that if your eye is not there to receive the photon then it won't leave the star in the distant past. If the dimension in the direction of travel is zero, you have a different relationship then if it is zero time in terms of the property of the virtual dimensions.

Is a particle really a wave packet?
Could something like a "phase transition" involve dimensions that are more transitory then we imagined.
Example; a photon as a two dimensional sheet is absorbed by an electron so that the photon becomes a part of the geometry of the electron in which the electrons dimensions change in some manner.
Could "scale" have more variation and influence on space and time that our models currently predict?
Could information, scale, and gravity be intimately related? ~ R.A. Delmonico
Dispersing Phase quotes by R.A. Delmonico
When we push for immediate results and instant healing, we never inhabit the important in-between phase, which is where much of the learning and growth actually happen. ~ Bo Forbes
Dispersing Phase quotes by Bo Forbes
An infant no more than six weeks old
a person in the still floppy, stunned by visual stimuli, sucking, arm and foot waving, grunting, grimacing phase of life. How I had loved that stage in my own Daisy's path of becoming. [p.46] ~ Siri Hustvedt
Dispersing Phase quotes by Siri Hustvedt
Tom and I will always be in our honeymoon phase. ~ Katie Holmes
Dispersing Phase quotes by Katie Holmes
In idyllic small towns I sometimes see teenagers looking out of place in their garb of desperation, the leftover tatters and stains and slashes of the fashion of my youth. For this phase of their life, the underworld is their true home, and in the grit and underbelly of a city they could find something that approximates it. Even the internal clock of adolescents changes, making them nocturnal creatures for at least a few years. All through childhood you grow toward life and then in adolescence, at the height of life, you begin to grow toward death. This fatality is felt as an enlargement to be welcomed and embraced, for the young in this culture enter adulthood as a prison, and death reassures them that there are exits. "I have been half in love with easeful death," said Keats who died at twenty-six and so were we, though the death we were in love with was only an idea then. ~ Rebecca Solnit
Dispersing Phase quotes by Rebecca Solnit
There were six hundred thousand Indian troops in Kashmir but the pogrom of the pandits was not prevented, why was that. Three and a half lakhs
of human beings arrived in Jammu as displaced persons and for many months the government did not provide shelters or relief or even register
their names, why was that. When the government finally built camps it only allowed for six thousand families to remain in the state, dispersing the
others around the country where they would be invisible and impotent, why was that. The camps at Purkhoo, Muthi, Mishriwallah, Nagrota were built
on the banks and beds of nullahas, dry seasonal waterways, and when the water came the camps were flooded, why was that. The ministers of the
government made speeches about ethnic cleansing but the civil servants wrote one another memos saying that the pandits were simply internal
migrants whose displacement had been self-imposed, why was that. The tents provided for the refugees to live in were often uninspected and
leaking and the monsoon rains came through, why was that. When the one-room tenements called ORTs were built to replace the tents they too
leaked profusely, why was that. There was one bathroom per three hundred persons in many camps why was that and the medical dispensaries
lacked basic first-aid materials why was that and thousands of the displaced died because of inadequate food and shelter why was that maybe five
thousand deaths because of int ~ Salman Rushdie
Dispersing Phase quotes by Salman Rushdie
I took to religion at about age 12; it was very hard for me to be Sabbath observant as a kid in a home which was not Sabbath observant. I think my parents thought the whole Jewish thing was a phase. ~ Erica Brown
Dispersing Phase quotes by Erica Brown
Not that my arms are getting tired or anything, but ... how much longer is the hugging phase going to last? ~ Robin Wasserman
Dispersing Phase quotes by Robin Wasserman
We may be entering a new phase of history, a time when we begin to rediscover ... the traditional teaching that power must entail restraint and responsibility, the ancient awareness that we are interdependent with all of nature and that our sense of community must take in the whole of creation. ~ Donald Worster
Dispersing Phase quotes by Donald Worster
We welcome the Election Commission's announcement of a five-phase poll in the state. We will abide by all the guidelines and directives issued by the Commission. ~ Mamata Banerjee
Dispersing Phase quotes by Mamata Banerjee
The West hasn't reached its universal state as yet, although its close to it, but it certainly has evolved out of its warring state phase, which it was in for a couple of centuries. ~ Samuel P. Huntington
Dispersing Phase quotes by Samuel P. Huntington
At Pixar, we do a million versions of the movie, and every one of them goes through their awkward teenage phase where it's terrible and doesn't make sense, and we just keep working on it. ~ Dan Scanlon
Dispersing Phase quotes by Dan Scanlon
Being a grandparent is whole new phase in your life. ~ Kevin Whately
Dispersing Phase quotes by Kevin Whately
I remember going to my school careers advisor and asked about jobs that required scuba divers. It was a phase. ~ Paul Putner
Dispersing Phase quotes by Paul Putner
Maybe in that earlier phase I was painting the woman in me. Art isn't a wholly masculine occupation, you know. ~ Willem De Kooning
Dispersing Phase quotes by Willem De Kooning
Grief reunites you with what you've lost. It's a merging; you go with the loved thing or person that's going away. You follow it a far as you can go.
But finally, the grief goes away and you phase back into the world. Without him.
And you can accept that. What the hell choice is there? You cry, you continue to cry, because you don't ever completely come back from where you went with him
a fragment broken off your pulsing, pumping heart is there still. A cut that never heals.
And if, when it happens to you over and over again in life, too much of your heart does finally go away, then you can't feel grief any more. And then you yourself are ready to die. You'll walk up the inclined ladder and someone else will remain behind grieving for you. ~ Philip K. Dick
Dispersing Phase quotes by Philip K. Dick
I had a gothic phase, and now I'm more edgy chic. ~ Ashley Benson
Dispersing Phase quotes by Ashley Benson
Before World War II, Modernist architects sometimes had to resort to custom fabrication or outright fakery to achieve the machine imagery advocated by the Bauhaus after its initial, Expressionist, phase. Stucco masqueraded as reinforced concrete; rivets were used for decoration. ~ Martin Filler
Dispersing Phase quotes by Martin Filler
I went through a wood-chopping phase when I was nine or 10. ~ Jennifer Lawrence
Dispersing Phase quotes by Jennifer Lawrence
In real life, I have mostly gone for nice guys. I definitely had a phase where I was like, "Oh, the bad guy is really cool." It's fun to be bad for a while, and then that ended really terribly - one piece of advice I'll give to people is your mom is always right. ~ Melissa Ordway
Dispersing Phase quotes by Melissa Ordway
The launch of phase 1 Ebola vaccine studies is a first step in developing a vaccine that could be licensed and used in the field to protect not only the front line health care workers but also those living in areas where Ebola virus exists. ~ Anthony Fauci
Dispersing Phase quotes by Anthony Fauci
If you feel as if your legs have been cut from underneath you, get back up. If a door closes, don't spend time staring at it. Be at peace and look for the open one. It'll be there. Then, walk through it into the next phase of your life. ~ Jake Byrne
