I'm turned on by diversity. I'm turned on by things that are different. I like different animals, I like different ways of travel, and I like different people. ~ Dominic Monaghan
Different Animals quotes by Dominic Monaghan
I smell panic," said Serge. "These are different animals now. They're starting to winnow out the weak at the fringe of the herd. We need to hurry or this could affect our snack situation. ~ Tim Dorsey
Different Animals quotes by Tim Dorsey
Recording an album and doing it live are like two different animals. There are some people that are great singers live, horrible in the studio. ~ Frank Stallone
Different Animals quotes by Frank Stallone
Analogue. A part or organ in one animal which has the same function as another part or organ in a different animal. ~ Richard Owen
Different Animals quotes by Richard Owen
When a livestock farmer is willing to "practice complexity" - to choreograph the symbiosis of several different animals, each of which has been allowed to behave and eat as it evolved to - he will find he has little need for machinery, fertilizer, and, most strikingly, chemicals. He finds he has no sanitation problem or any of the diseases that result from raising a single animal in a crowded monoculture and then feeding it things it wasn't designed to eat. This is perhaps the greatest efficiency of a farm treated as a biological system: health. ~ Michael Pollan
Different Animals quotes by Michael Pollan
WHO IS- OR WAS- YOUR FAVORITE WRITER?

For style and consistency, I would have to say John Updike. No one else in the world writes the way that he does, and very few have enjoyed the longevity of career or employed the breadth of scope that he has. Mailer's a close second, but they are completely different animals. Bret Easton Ellis, whom I unintentionally left off of my answer to the previous question, is good as well- he creates a goodly number of inimitable situations, and his dexterity of language produces many, many killer lines- lines that belong in any literate person's lexicon. I would say the same for Jay McInerney as well. But Easton's output is spotty: every other book is crap. He did Less Than Zero, and that was fucking amazing, and then he did The Rules Of Attraction. After that, he wrote American Psycho- a brilliant but sadly misunderstood book at the time- but the follow-up, Glamorama, sucked horribly. At least, in my humble opinion. After that, I kind of lost interest. If you occasionally throw off a collection of shitty writing, it does affect your credibility when you seek to speak with your constituency about matters of life and death. Fiction is a deadly serious business, and if you're dry and out of ideas, then just fucking say so and keep working at it until you're finally writing something that it would be a crime not to let other people read. ~ Larry Mitchell
Different Animals quotes by Larry Mitchell
What I really wanted was to travel and see all the different animals that were on the verge of extinction. ~ Leonardo DiCaprio
Different Animals quotes by Leonardo DiCaprio
About the Maker you know?" I nodded and said that we called him the Outsider. "A good name for him that is. Outside him we keep, into our hearts we don't let him come. "When everything he's got made, he got to paint. First the water. Easy it is. Then the ground, all the rocks. A little harder it gets. Then sky and trees. Grass harder than you think it is, the little brush he had got to use, and paint so when the wind blows the color changes, and different colors for different kinds. Then dogs and greenbucks, all the different animals. Birds and flowers going to be tough they are. This he knows. So for the last them he leaves." I ~ Gene Wolfe
Different Animals quotes by Gene Wolfe
No one has ever asked an actor, 'You're playing a strong-minded man ... ' We assume that men are strong-minded, or have opinions. But a strong-minded woman is a different animal. ~ Meryl Streep
Different Animals quotes by Meryl Streep
Livestock adopted in Africa were Eurasian species that came in from the north. Africa's long axis, like that of the Americas, is north/south rather than east/west. Those Eurasian domestic mammals spread southward very slowly in Africa, because they had to adapt to different climate zones and different animal diseases. ~ Jared Diamond
Different Animals quotes by Jared Diamond
Stage and film are just two wildly different animals. Why compare the two? ~ Bebe Neuwirth
Different Animals quotes by Bebe Neuwirth
A single kind of red cell is supposed to have an enormous number of different substances on it, and in the same way there are substances in the serum to react with many different animal cells. In addition, the substances which match each kind of cell are different in each kind of serum. The number of hypothetical different substances postulated makes this conception so uneconomical that the question must be asked whether it is the only one possible ... We ourselves hold that another, simpler, explanation is possible. ~ Karl Landsteiner
Different Animals quotes by Karl Landsteiner
I really love learning about animals. I pull from a deck of spirit animal cards. You pull one, and it's about 50 or 60 different animals, and then that day you read whichever animal you pull. And it kind of gives you insight. ~ Brie Larson
Different Animals quotes by Brie Larson
Even though I have fond feelings for comedy clubs, I enjoy the focus you get in a theater. Comedy clubs are a different animal. People are being served nachos and there's a blender going off in the background. ~ Brian Regan
Different Animals quotes by Brian Regan
Homologue. The same organ in different animals under every variety of form and function. ~ Richard Owen
Different Animals quotes by Richard Owen
A book and a movie are different animals. You need a cinematic perspective to be involved in the motion pictures. And this is something I lack. ~ Ashwin Sanghi
Different Animals quotes by Ashwin Sanghi
I have watched Brock Lesnar for a really long time and I thought I knew how strong he was, I thought I knew how fast he was. Being in the ring with him, he is a completely different animal. He is a beast. They call him the Beast Incarnate and that is real. Whether you are in the Octagon with him trading fists, or in the ring trading German suplexes it is on another level. It was a pleasure and I am glad I got to be in the ring with him and i think I proved to the entire world I can hang with the guy. ~ Seth Rollins
Different Animals quotes by Seth Rollins
But of course when people watch morning television, Terry, it's a very different animal. You know, they're running around, they're getting their kids ready for school, they're probably doing eight million things, they're brushing their teeth. ~ Katie Couric
Different Animals quotes by Katie Couric
Horseracing and ranch horses are two different animals. You're getting race horses out and running and running them. It can be really problematic. A thoroughbred's very delicate. ~ Dennis Quaid
Different Animals quotes by Dennis Quaid
My mother said that we're so lucky to be women. It's not that men are weak. Men are men. We're two completely different animals. ~ Diane Von Furstenberg
Different Animals quotes by Diane Von Furstenberg
I love Vanguard. Sony was great too, but it was a different animal, it was so big. It's hard to get the big monster to move, unless you're right there on top of things. And you can't always be on top. ~ Shawn Mullins
Different Animals quotes by Shawn Mullins
If you are going to make a change, don't go halfway. Make it with conviction and stick with your new idea. Ignore the scoffers. Remember, it is a law of nature that if something is different you're going to be taunted, jeered, and told the world is flat. Let the doubters fall off the edge. ~ Gary McCord
Different Animals quotes by Gary McCord
Through intense deep meditation you reach a state that is beyond thought, beyond change, beyond imagination, beyond differences and duality. Once you can stay in that state for a while and come out of it without losing any of it, then the inner divine love will begin to pour through you. You will not see people as different, separate individuals. You will see your own Self in everyone around you. Then the flow of love from within you will be constant and unbroken. ~ Swami Muktananda
Different Animals quotes by Swami Muktananda
More and more people are able to access information - thank goodness we have the Internet and if you are interested you can find things. Which is different than even 20 years ago. ~ Edwidge Danticat
Different Animals quotes by Edwidge Danticat
It's commonly said that if slaughterhouses had clear glass walls, nobody would eat meat. I think people go out of their way to remain ignorant about how factory farm animals are treated. ~ Steve-O
Different Animals quotes by Steve-O
Regardless of our circumstances, we always have a choice. We can choose more of the same; or we can recognize this moment is different and that we can be different, too. ~ Lori Deschene
Different Animals quotes by Lori Deschene
I'd never say I'll never have a facelift, but I'm way too scared of looking like a different person. I have no philosophical or political position on plastic surgery; I just don't want to look crazy. And I don't like not being able to tell how old someone is: It's creepy. ~ Ellen Barkin
Different Animals quotes by Ellen Barkin
In the end, we are only tiny frightened animals, doing our best to survive amid other tiny frightened animals. ~ James Hollis
Different Animals quotes by James Hollis
I never thought 'Stairway to Heaven' was a long song. I loved how there was this part and then there was another part that was completely different. ~ Adam Jones
Different Animals quotes by Adam Jones
It is too often believed that a person in his progress towards perfection passes from error to truth; that when he passes on from one thought to another, he must necessarily reject the first. But no error can lead to truth. The soul passing through its different stages goes from truth to truth, and each stage is true; it goes from lower truth to higher truth. ~ Swami Vivekananda
Different Animals quotes by Swami Vivekananda
Some of the world's violent conflicts are mainly economic, territorial or tribal. But many seem to come, at least in part, from conflicts between the belief systems of different groups. ~ Jonathan Glover
Different Animals quotes by Jonathan Glover
Charging everyone the same thing and treating everyone the same way, as retailers do today, is 'Six Sigma' thinking which is great for producing widgets on a production line, but it makes no sense in a world where customers are inherently different. ~ Peter Fader
Different Animals quotes by Peter Fader
Her parents didn't get it. Life was different now. The future, her future and that of everyone else her age, had blown up in slow motion. She lived the way she did because greed had sucked the juice out of the world and it was no longer possible to get one of those humble but promising jobs that led, with hard work and perseverance, to something that might be considered a career. Instead you competed with ambitious, underpaid people on the Indian subcontinent for the sucky customer service jobs, or you might choose to go the tech route and work as a coding slave, or sign noncompete and binding arbitration agreements with some major corporation that still required human bodies to do their dirty work for them. ~ Jean Thompson
Different Animals quotes by Jean Thompson
Film and television is just a different technique in terms of how to approach the camera but basically the job is the same; but what you learn as a craft in theater, you can then learn to translate that into any mediums. ~ Joe Morton
Different Animals quotes by Joe Morton
So Blue sat down on the path and faced Grayson, and told him all about his world.
He told him about the humans, his mother and sister, and how they went away. He told him about the long nights alone in the kennel, and the sadness that seemed to come from other dogs. All the while Grayson stared at him with his wide yellow eyes. He seemed amazed, and even sometimes frightened, as Blue recounted all the details.
Finally, when he was finished telling his story, Grayson said 'You come from a scary world, Blue. A very scary and sad world indeed. It's so different from the magical forest where no one is ever alone, and no one is ever sad.. ~ Michael Delaware
Different Animals quotes by Michael Delaware
I'm really proud of 'Bright Lights' because I was still in the mind frame of my first album when I was putting it together, but next time I want to display something different. I don't want to be as young, immature and all about boys! ~ Ellie Goulding
Different Animals quotes by Ellie Goulding
Brands mature over time, like a marriage. The bond you feel with your spouse is different than when you first met each other. Excitement and discovery are replaced by comfort and depth. ~ Gary Vaynerchuk
Different Animals quotes by Gary Vaynerchuk
If polar bears live at the North Pole, why doesn't Santa use them to pull the sleigh?" Brogan asked, licking mustard off his thumb with the air of someone who thought they'd won the argument, which was dumb, because he never won. Embry was the uncontested champion of arguing in their house.
"Are you high?" Embry asked. "Have you seen a fucking polar bear? There's no way they're as aerodynamic as reindeer."
"Polar bears make about as much sense as reindeer, seeing as neither of them can actually fly," Brogan pointed out. "Polar bears are stronger, too. You'd only need half as many to get the job done."
"Polar bears aren't pack animals. You'd never get all of them attached to the sleigh at once."
"Think how cool it would be, though. A whole troop of polar bears pulling a sleigh. There should be fire somewhere. A secondary propulsion system in case the bears get tired. Like a jet engine." His eyes went wide with awe, presumably at his own genius. "There should be a jet engine, Embry. ~ Sidney Bell
Different Animals quotes by Sidney Bell
I remember sitting back, on a local beach I called home; thinking about the wild storms I had already faced, the chaotic thunder I somehow learnt to dance through. This time, remembering it, was different. I had no emotional attachment, I felt free of the past and could quietly seperate who I was with who I am now and this moment was empowering , because had I not faced the greatest disasters with courage, I wouldn't have learnt the mastery of life. My self awakening. ~ Nikki Rowe
Different Animals quotes by Nikki Rowe
Art is a form of understanding like philosophy and science and mathematics are an understanding but the difference is that art has the capacity to hold all these different things. It is the form of understanding that is best suited for the contemporary time. ~ Robert Longo
Different Animals quotes by Robert Longo
To say that I would have done otherwise had I wanted to is simply to say that I would have lived in a different universe had I been in a different universe. ~ Sam Harris
Different Animals quotes by Sam Harris
The church's theology bought into this ahistoricism in different ways: along a more liberal, post-Kantian trajectory, the historical particularities of Christian faith were reduced to atemporal moral teachings that were universal and unconditioned. Thus it turned out that what Jesus taught was something like Kant's categorical imperative - a universal ethics based on reason rather than a set of concrete practices related to a specific community. Liberal Christianity fostered ahistoricism by reducing Christianity to a universal, rational kernel of moral teaching. Along a more conservative, evangelical trajectory (and the Reformation is not wholly innocent here), it was recognized that Christians could not simply jettison the historical particularities of the Christian event: the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, there was still a quasi-Platonic, quasi-gnostic rejection of material history such that evangelicalism, while not devolving to a pure ahistoricism, become dominated by a modified ahistoricism we can call primitivism. Primitivism retains the most minimal commitment to God's action in history (in the life of Christ and usually in the first century of apostolic activity) and seeks to make only this first-century 'New Testament church' normative for contemporary practice. This is usually articulated by a rigid distinction between Scripture and tradition (the latter then usually castigated as 'the traditions of men' as opposed to the 'God-give' r ~ James K.A. Smith
Different Animals quotes by James K.A. Smith
The style was strange. The writing was clear and sometimes even transparent, but the way the stories followed one after another didn't lead anywhere: all that was left were the children, their parents, the animals, some neighbors, and in the end, all that was really left was nature, a nature that dissolved little by little in a boiling cauldron until it vanished completely. ~ Roberto Bolano
Different Animals quotes by Roberto Bolano
In this room we're all here together, but there's probably a lot of different views, people sitting here thinking, I don't own any slaves, all the slaves are dead. Why am I responsible? My family were immigrants, too. ~ Johnnie Cochran
Different Animals quotes by Johnnie Cochran
I'm ready for conventions. You know what's interesting, the sort of questions that Lost raises are of a different sort from this movie. In other words, Lost is about figuring out the world of the show, whereas this one seems to raise questions about the world that we know. But I'm happy to entertain both. ~ William Mapother
Different Animals quotes by William Mapother
Originally, when I got the role of Lisa [from Visitors], I was a little concerned, because I was worried I would be typecast as an alien for the rest of my life. But they are so, so different that it wasn't at all a problem. I'm very lucky. I'm blessed to be on another show. I think it's going to do really well. ~ Laura Vandervoort
Different Animals quotes by Laura Vandervoort
People pray in one direction but they walk in a different direction, and direction always determines where we end up. ~ Andy Stanley
Different Animals quotes by Andy Stanley
What people do in their own homes is their business, and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination, plain and simple ~ Jay-Z
Different Animals quotes by Jay-Z
Every story has a true name. I wish this story's name could be different, but nothing will change it. This story is The Book of You. ~ Claire Kendal
Different Animals quotes by Claire Kendal
There are different sorts of geniuses. You're one too. I've never met a person with your ability to make peace" -Judas ~ Lauren DeStefano
Different Animals quotes by Lauren DeStefano
Or at school you might have been prodded to come "out of your shell" - that noxious expression which fails to appreciate that some animals naturally carry shelter everywhere they go, and that some humans are just the same. ~ Susan Cain
Different Animals quotes by Susan Cain
The human papillomavirus (HPV) has long been known as a sexually transmitted infection that, at its worst, can cause cervical cancer in women. A vaccine is now available - these days, vaccines are increasingly swiftly developed - not to cure this malady but to immunize women against it. But there are forces in the administration who oppose the adoption of this measure on the grounds that it fails to discourage premarital sex. To accept the spread of cervical cancer in the name of god is no different, morally or intellectually, from sacrificing these women on a stone altar and thanking the deity for giving us the sexual impulse and then condemning it. We ~ Christopher Hitchens
Different Animals quotes by Christopher Hitchens
The clock is just as much a part of the game as the board and pieces, and losing because of time-trouble is no different to losing because of weak play
it's still a zero on the score-sheet. ~ John Nunn
Different Animals quotes by John Nunn
When I'm drawing - and here drawing is very different from writing or reasoning - I have the impression at certain moments of participating in something like a visceral function, such as digestion or sweating, a function that is independent of the conscious will. This impression is exaggerated, but the practice or pursuit of drawing touches, or is touched by, something prototypical and anterior to logical reasoning. ~ John Berger
Different Animals quotes by John Berger
It's always a treat to have something that lets me explore a different period. I do try to be a stickler, as much as I can, but luckily the writers are, as well. ~ Tom Mison
Different Animals quotes by Tom Mison
When all the other animals, downcast looked upon the earth, he [Prometheus] gave a face raised on high to man, and commanded him to see the sky and raise his high eyes to the stars. ~ Ovid
Different Animals quotes by Ovid
The emotion, and the other aspect is that this relate to many different obstacle in life. Emotion, yes, I love emotion, for your information, very much so. ~ Tommy Wiseau
Different Animals quotes by Tommy Wiseau
The women I love and admire for their strength and grace did not get that way because shit worked out. They got that way because shit went wrong and they handled it. They handled it a thousand different ways on a thousand different days, but they handled it. Those women are my superheroes. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
Different Animals quotes by Elizabeth Gilbert
It's mind-boggling how many different worlds people live in on this one planet. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Different Animals quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
It is better to solve one problem five different ways, than to solve five problems one way. ~ George Polya
Different Animals quotes by George Polya
I reserve the right to love many different people at once, and to change my prince often. ~ Anais Nin
Different Animals quotes by Anais Nin
The trouble with wars is that they all look alike to people who aren't involved. Only the skin color of the dead is different. ~ Jonathan Carroll
Different Animals quotes by Jonathan Carroll
So now the polar ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising,
and the weather is all messed up. Plants and animals are dying off in record
numbers, and lots of people are starving and homeless. And we're still
fighting wars with each other, mostly over the few resources we have left. ~ Ernest Cline
Different Animals quotes by Ernest Cline
When I first started writing plays I couldn't write good dialogue because I didn't respect how black people talked. I thought that in order to make art out of their dialogue I had to change it, make it into something different. Once I learned to value and respect my characters, I could really hear them. I let them start talking. ~ August Wilson
Different Animals quotes by August Wilson
I hope martial artists are more interested in the root of martial arts and not the different decorative branches, flowers or leaves. It is futile to argue as to which leaf, which design of branches, or which attractive flower you like; when you understand the root, you understand all its blossoming. ~ Bruce Lee
