The principle of democracy is all about delegation of power by the vast majority of citizens through a few chosen representatives chosen on merit and competence. ~ N. R. Narayana Murthy
Delegation quotes by N. R. Narayana Murthy
What a waste that we lost Mussolini. He is a first-rate man who would have led our party to power in Italy. [Addressing to a delegation of Italian socialists in Moscow after Mussolini's March on Rome in 1922] ~ Vladimir Lenin
Delegation quotes by Vladimir Lenin
The lesson of the Ford story is that managers and management are the specific need of the business enterprise, its specific organ, and its basic structure. We can say dogmatically that enterprise cannot do without managers. One cannot argue that management does the owner's job by delegation. Management is needed not only because the job is too big for any one man to do himself, but because managing an enterprise is something essentially different from managing one's own property. ~ Peter F. Drucker
Delegation quotes by Peter F. Drucker
Delegation requires the willingness to pay for short term failures in order to gain long term competency. ~ Dave Ramsey
Delegation quotes by Dave Ramsey
It is *essential* to such a government, that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion, or a favored class of it; otherwise a handful of tyrannical nobles, exercising their oppressions by a delegation of their powers, might aspire to the rank of republicans, and claim for their government the honorable title of republic. ~ James Madison
Delegation quotes by James Madison
Attention to her words was at such a fever pitch that Theo was visited by a delegation of three diamond sellers who begged her aid. That very evening Lady Islay appeared at a ball wearing a necklace that featured no fewer than eight strands of diamonds, caught together by an extraordinary pear-shaped diamond pendant, and casually remarked that she thought a woman should rival the Milky Way at night: *We give babies milk, but ladies? Diamonds.* ~ Eloisa James
Delegation quotes by Eloisa James
Each delegated task must be both time-consuming and well-defined. If you're running around like a chicken with its head cut off and assign your VA to do that for you, it doesn't improve the order of the universe. ~ Timothy Ferriss
Delegation quotes by Timothy Ferriss
Just pass the work I assign along to somebody else and trust to luck. We call that delegation of responsibility. ~ Joseph Heller
Delegation quotes by Joseph Heller
Delegation is thepassing on of actions, actions, not the passing on of responsibility. ~ Eric Edmeades
Delegation quotes by Eric Edmeades
Trust is powerful. It is also fast. It can be lost quickly. Trust is also reciprocal. If you give trust, it will be given back to you. Delegation is a result of this trust. ~ Steven R. Covey
Delegation quotes by Steven R. Covey
The most interesting - in fact, inspiring - people I met there [Porto Alegre] are those who remain nameless: representatives of the international campesino movement, the East Timorese delegation, ... - the usual heroes, who disappear, unknown, apart from the consequences of their work. ~ Noam Chomsky
Delegation quotes by Noam Chomsky
Don't strive to be a well-rounded leader. Instead, discover your zone and stay there. Then delegate everything else.

Admitting a weakness is a sign of strength. Acknowledging weakness doesn't make a leader less effective.

Everybody in your organization benefits when you delegate responsibilities that fall outside your core competency. Thoughtful delegation will allow someone else in your organization to shine. Your weakness is someone's opportunity.

Leadership is not always about getting things done "right." Leadership is about getting things done through other people.

The people who follow us are exactly where we have led them. If there is no one to whom we can delegate, it is our own fault.

As a leader, gifted by God to do a few things well, it is not right for you to attempt to do everything. Upgrade your performance by playing to your strengths and delegating your weaknesses.

There are many things I can do, but I have to narrow it down to the one thing I must do. The secret of concentration is elimination.

Devoting a little of yourself to everything means committing a great deal of yourself to nothing.

My competence in these areas defines my success as a pastor.

A sixty-hour workweek will not compensate for a poorly delivered sermon. People don't show up on Sunday morning because I am a good pastor (leader, shepherd, counselor).

In my world, it is my communication ~ Andy Stanley
Delegation quotes by Andy Stanley
With regard to complex trauma survivors, self-determination and autonomy require that the therapist treat each client as the "authority" in determining the meaning and interpretation of his or her personal life history, including (but not limited to) traumatic experiences (Harvey, 1996). Therapists can inadvertently misappropriate the client's authority over the meaning and significance of her or his memories (and associated symptoms, such as intrusive reexperiencing or dissociative flashbacks) by suggesting specific "expert" interpretations of the memories or symptoms. Clients who feel profoundly abandoned by key caregivers may appear deeply grateful for such interpretations and pronouncements by their therapists, because they can fulfill a deep longing for a substitute parent who makes sense of the world or takes care of them. However, this delegation of authority to the therapist can backfire if the client cannot, or does not, take ownership of her or his own memories or life story by determining their personal meaning. Moreover, the client can be trapped in a stance of avoidance because trauma memories are never experienced, processed, and put to rest. Helping a client to develop a core sense of relational security and the capacity to regulate (and recover from) extreme hyper- or hypoarousal is essential if the client is to achieve a self-determined and autonomous approach to defining the meaning and impact of trauma memories, a crucial goal of posttraumatic therapy. ~ Christine A. Courtois
Delegation quotes by Christine A. Courtois
Ripred sighed. 'I suppose so. You and I seem to end up doing everything. Shall we say four members for each delegation?'
'Why not?' Luxa said. 'Four can be as stupid as ten. No need to crowd the room.'
Ripred laughed. 'You know, I think you an I are going to get on famously. ~ Suzanne Collins
Delegation quotes by Suzanne Collins
In fact, Lincoln and Stanton had already heard similar complaints. After dispatching investigators to look into General Grant's behavior, however, they had concluded that his drinking did not affect his unmatched ability to plan, execute, and win battles. A memorable story circulated that when a delegation brought further rumors of Grant's drinking to the president, Lincoln declared that if he could find the brand of whiskey Grant used, he would promptly distribute it to the rest of his generals! ~ Doris Kearns Goodwin
Delegation quotes by Doris Kearns Goodwin
I produced a fulsome sermon. When the appointed Sunday arrived, I used all of my best grooming skills. I picked the cat hairs off my most expensive suit, smoothed my hair, and put a Band-aid on the thumb I had chewed while working overtime on my sermon. Once I met the delegation at church I did my best to dazzle them, and after the service was over we sat for almost two hours in a Sunday School room as I answered question after question about my history, my beliefs, my weaknesses, and my strengths. One man on the committee noticed the Band-aid on my thumb. "What did you do to yourself?" he asked sympathetically. "I cut it while I was cooking, "I lied. ~ Barbara Brown Taylor
Delegation quotes by Barbara Brown Taylor
If you want to do a few small things right, do them yourself. If you want to do great things and make a big impact, learn to delegate. ~ John C. Maxwell
Delegation quotes by John C. Maxwell
A citizenship of wholesale delegation and abdication to public and private power systems, such as prevails now, makes such periodic checks as elections little more than rituals. ~ Ralph Nader
Delegation quotes by Ralph Nader
One of my goals here in Congress, being the youngest member of the California delegation, is to really try and get the institution to upgrade the way it communicates with its constituents. ~ Eric Swalwell
Delegation quotes by Eric Swalwell
Why Menon got where he did under the patronage of Pandit Nehru remains, and probably will remain, unexplained. Panditji had him elected to Parliament and sent to the United Nations to lead the Indian delegation. His marathon thirteen-hour speech on Kashmir won India a unanimous vote against it. He was then made Defence Minister against the wishes of almost all the members of the Cabinet. He wrecked army discipline by promoting favourites over the heads of senior officers. He was vindictive against those who stood up to him. More than anyone else he was responsible for the humiliating defeat of our army at the hands of the Chinese in 1962. Pandit Nehru stuck by him to the last. ~ Khushwant Singh
Delegation quotes by Khushwant Singh
The Constitution expressly and exclusively vests in the Legislature the power of declaring a state of war [and] the power of raising armies ... A delegation of such powers [to the President] would have struck, not only at the fabric of our Constitution, but at the foundation of all well organized and well checked governments. The separation of the power of declaring war from that of conducting it, is wisely contrived to exclude the danger of its being declared for the sake of its being conducted. ~ James Madison
Delegation quotes by James Madison
I do not conceive that power is given to the President and Senate to dismember the empire, or to alienate any great, essential right. I do not think the whole legislative authority have this power. The exercise of the power must be consistent with the object of the delegation. ~ James Madison
Delegation quotes by James Madison
I am going to be announcing today that we will have a business delegation come to this country sometime in the future where we will bring businesses from America to Morocco to show them the vast business opportunities here. ~ Donald Evans
Delegation quotes by Donald Evans
Biden likes to be candid in such settings. In 1979, on one of his first trips to the Soviet Union, he listened to an argument from his Soviet counterpart, and replied, "Where I come from, we have a saying: You can't shit a shitter." Bill Bradley, then a fellow-senator on the delegation, later asked the American interpreter how he had translated Biden's comment into Russian. "Not literally," the interpreter said. ~ Anonymous

Every day you meet a delegation going to some convention to try and change the way of somebody else's life. ~ Will Rogers
Delegation quotes by Will Rogers
[Rhodian delegation:]
Every city contains wicked citizens from time to time and an ignorant populace all the time. ~ Livy
Delegation quotes by Livy
They are an American Delegation who are doing a tour of the region to apologize for the crusades', said Arafat. Then he, and his guest, burst out laughing. They both knew that America had little or no involvement in the wars of the eleventh to thirteenth centuries. But Arafat, at any rate, was happy to indulge the affliction of anyone who believed they had and use it to his own political advantage. ~ Douglas Murray
Delegation quotes by Douglas Murray
I want them (the North Korean delegation) to understand that it would be difficult to see progress of the normalization talks unless we see their sincerity over the abduction, nuclear and missile issues. ~ Koichi Haraguchi
Delegation quotes by Koichi Haraguchi
When I put out to sea, I do not offer advice to the skipper about the management of the ship. ~ Elsa Barker
Delegation quotes by Elsa Barker
You run a major risk when you assume that you alone have all the answers: You don't, and that's okay. You don't have to be afraid to admit there are certain things you either don't like to do or aren't any good at. You reach a goal by covering all your bases, and you cover all your bases by hiring good people. ~ Georgette Mosbacher
Delegation quotes by Georgette Mosbacher
Tamara Bunke was the only woman to fight alongside "Che" during his Bolivian campaign. She was an East German national, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 19, 1937, of Communist activist parents. As a child, her home was frequently used for meetings, hiding weapons and conducting other Communist activities. After World War II, in 1952 she returned to Germany where she attended Humboldt University in Berlin. Tamara met "Che" Guevara when she was an attractive 23-year-old woman in Leipzig, and he was with a Cuban Trade Delegation. The two instantly hit it off as she cozied up to him and, having learned how to fight and use weapons in Pinar del Rio in western Cuba, she joined his expedition to Bolivia.
Becoming a spy for the ELN, she adopted the name "Tania" and posed as a right-wing authority of South-American music and folklore. In disguise, she managed to warm up to and entice Bolivian President René Barrientos. She even went on an intimate vacation to Peru with him. ~ Hank Bracker
Delegation quotes by Hank Bracker
Yesterday I, along with a bipartisan Congressional Delegation of lawmakers, inspected the detention facilities at Guantanamo used to house individuals detained in the War on Terrorism. ~ Jim Ryun
Delegation quotes by Jim Ryun
The source of the government's authority is "the consent of the governed." This means that the government is not the ruler, but the servant or agent of the citizens; it means that the government as such has no rights except the rights delegated to it by the citizens for a specific purpose. ~ Ayn Rand
Delegation quotes by Ayn Rand
We accomplish all that we do through delegation - either to time or to other people. ~ Stephen Covey
Delegation quotes by Stephen Covey
You always hear about delegation, but people make the mistake of delegating and not following up. I give authority, but I stay in touch. Otherwise it doesn't work. ~ Wayne Huizenga
Delegation quotes by Wayne Huizenga
Ownership by delegation is a contradiction in terms. When men say, for instance (by a false metaphor), that each member of the public should feel himself an owner of public property-such as a Town Park-and should therefore respect it as his own, they are saying something which all our experience proves to be completely false. No man feels of public property that it is his own; no man will treat it with the care of the affection of a thing which is his own. ~ Hilaire Belloc
Delegation quotes by Hilaire Belloc
Imparting trust, the real meaning of delegation, is a powerful thing. ~ Scott Berkun
Delegation quotes by Scott Berkun
You can delegate authority, but you cannot delegate responsibility. ~ Byron Dorgan
Delegation quotes by Byron Dorgan
As much as you need a strong personality to build a business from scratch, you also must understand the art of delegation. I have to be good at helping people run the individual businesses, and I have to be willing to step back. The company must be set up so it can continue without me. ~ Richard Branson
Delegation quotes by Richard Branson
Nothing can appear more contradictory than the principles on which the old governments began, and the condition to which society, civilisation and commerce are capable of carrying mankind. Government, one the old system, is an assumption of power, for the aggrandisement of itself; on the new, a delegation of power for the common benefit of society. The former supports itself by keeping up a system of war; the later promotes a system of peace, as the true means of enriching a nation. The one encourages national prejudices; the other promotes universal society, as the means of universal commerce. The one measures its prosperity, by the quantity of revenue it extorts; the other proves its excellence, by the small quantity of taxes it requires. ~ Thomas Paine
Delegation quotes by Thomas Paine
The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of the government, in the latter,to a small number of citizens elected by the rest; secondly, the greater number of citizens and greater sphere of country over which the latter may be extended. ~ James Madison
Delegation quotes by James Madison
To handle the economy and services in a country like Iraq requires delegation of authority and the choice of competent people. ~ Ahmed Chalabi
Delegation quotes by Ahmed Chalabi
I was just an infant when [Fannie Lou] Hamer spoke - barley even awake in the world. But here she was, pressing the Democratic Party to refuse to recognize the all-white Mississippi delegation, because obviously there was no way Mississippi could have an all-white delegation. Black people had been kept from registering through violence and intimidation. She had experienced that violence herself and was there to speak about it and to insist the delegation of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party be recognized instead. ~ Leah D. Daughtry
Delegation quotes by Leah D. Daughtry
When Dr. Samuel Johnson had completed the first real dictionary of the English language, he was visited by a delegation of respectable old ladies who wished to congratulate him for not including any indecent words. His response - which was that he was interested to see that the ladies had been looking them up - contains almost all that needs to be said on this point. ~ Christopher Hitchens
Delegation quotes by Christopher Hitchens
Chances are if you find yourself caught up in a political foofaraw at work, or in some family squabble at home, it's because someone else is succeeding in convincing you that his problem is your problem. The non-self-destructor recognizes this and as soon as possible, gives the sleepless night back to the person to whom it belongs. ~ Jason Seiden
Delegation quotes by Jason Seiden
I do not see a delegation for the Four Footed. I see no seat for the Eagles. We forget and we consider ourselves superior. But we are after all a mere part of Creation. And we must consider to understand where we are. And we stand somewhere between the mountain and the Ant. Somewhere and only there as part and parcel of the Creation. ~ Oren Lyons
Delegation quotes by Oren Lyons
The image of keys (plural) perhaps suggests not so much the porter, who controls admission to the house, as the steward, who regulates its administration (Is 22:22, in conjunction with 22:15). The issue then is not that of admission to the church (which is not what the kingdom of heaven means; see pp. 45-47) but an authority derived from a delegation of God's sovereignty. ~ Craig S. Keener
Delegation quotes by Craig S. Keener
When we practice good delegation - stewardship delegation - we are not simply enabling ourselves to get more done. We are serving others and building them up according to God's own purposes for his people. ~ Matt Perman
Delegation quotes by Matt Perman
Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist. ~ Sarah Palin
Delegation quotes by Sarah Palin
And as we sat with the cigars and liqueur, the talk turned to relations with the United States. Korneichuk had been part of a cultural delegation to the United States. On their arrival in New York he and his delegation had been fingerprinted and made to register as agents of a foreign power. The fingerprinting had outraged them, and so they had returned home without carrying out the visit. For, as Korneichuk said, With us, fingerprinting is only for criminals. We did not fingerprint you. You have not been photographed or forced to register. ~ John Steinbeck
Delegation quotes by John Steinbeck
ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Monday tried to recruit a delegation of 20 former NFL players who were visiting Israel to oppose a nuclear deal with Iran. The group on a trip led by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft included Curtis Martin of the Jets and Patriots, Thurman Thomas of the Bills and Tim Brown of the Raiders. Netanyahu used football lingo to encourage the players to oppose a nuclear deal the Obama administration and allies hope to strike with Iran. "Iran is one yard away from the goal line," he said. ~ Anonymous

I don't keep a dog and bark myself. ~ Elizabeth I
Delegation quotes by Elizabeth I
You need to start paying other people to do stuff for you even before you feel you are ready. ~ Kevin Kruse
Delegation quotes by Kevin Kruse
People and organizations don't grow much without delegation and completed staff work because they are confined to the capacities of the boss and reflect both personal strengths and weaknesses. ~ Stephen Covey
Delegation quotes by Stephen Covey
The first rule of management is delegation. Don't try and do everything yourself because you can't. ~ Anthea Turner
Delegation quotes by Anthea Turner
The thing that got Daley mad," one of the delegates said later, "was that Ribicoff had been ass-kissing him just a day or two before. He came over and pushed for McGovern to our delegation and made a big speech about what a great guy Daley was. Then he got up there and played the hero for the TV cameras."
Daley was on his feet, his arms waiving, his mouth working. The words were lost in the uproar, but it was later asserted by Mayday, an almost-underground Washington paper, that a lip-reader had determined that he said: "Fuck you, you Jew son of a bitch, you lousy motherfucker, go home. ~ Mike Royko
Delegation quotes by Mike Royko
On any other hypothesis, the delegation of judicial power would annul the authority delegating it; and the concurrence of this department with the others in usurped powers, might subvert forever, and beyond the possible reach of any rightful remedy, the very Constitution which all were instituted to preserve. ~ James Madison
Delegation quotes by James Madison
In addition, the United States Delegation will suggest a series of steps to improve the United Nations machinery for the peaceful settlement of disputes ... - for extending the rule of international law. For peace is not solely a matter of military or technical problems - it is primarily a problem of politics and people. ~ John F. Kennedy
Delegation quotes by John F. Kennedy
The president requested me to restore order in the national team. I have been designated to be part of the official delegation to Egypt to help boost the morale of our players. ~ Roger Milla
Delegation quotes by Roger Milla
I don't have a problem with delegation. I love to delegate. I am either lazy enough, or busy enough, or trusting enough, or congenial enough, that the notion leaving tasks in someone else's lap doesn't just sound wise to me, it sounds attractive. ~ John Ortberg
