Goal-setting illuminates the road to success just as runway lights illuminate the landing field for an incoming aircraft ~ Nido R. Qubein
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Nido R. Qubein
If you're in a confined aircraft; when one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. ~ Joe Biden
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Joe Biden
An aircraft which is used by wealthy people on their expense accounts, whose fares are subsidized by much poorer taxpayers. ~ Denis Healey
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Denis Healey
Have you ever, on a cloudless night, looked down from a passing aircraft flying over Canada? Endless, glowing strings of cities, towns, and homesteads. Stretching on and on, one province to the next. With only the stars in the distance. ~ Paul Martin
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Paul Martin
The aircraft found the ground before Teddy did and he watched as it exploded in a glittery starburst of light. He would live, he realized. There would be an afterward after all. He gave thanks to whichever god had stepped in to save him. ~ Kate Atkinson
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Kate Atkinson
I made a written report which is still today in existence. I have a photocopy of it, and I am saying that in production this aircraft could perhaps substitute for three propeller- driven aircraft of the best existing type. This was my impression. ~ Adolf Galland
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Adolf Galland
How skillful to tax the middle class to pay for the relief of the poor, building resentment on top of humiliation! How adroit to bus poor black youngsters into poor white neighborhoods, in a violent exchange of impoverished schools, while the schools of the rich remain untouched and the wealth of the nation, doled out carefully where children need free milk, is drained for billion-dollar aircraft carriers. How ingenious to meet the demands of blacks and women for equality by giving them small special benefits, and setting them in competition with everyone else for jobs made scares by an irrational, wasteful system. How wise to turn the fear and anger of the majority toward a class of criminals bred - by economic inequity - faster than they can be put away, deflecting attention from the huge thefts of national resources carried out within the law by men in executive offices. ~ Howard Zinn
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Howard Zinn
As a sea level adapted human, I am more fearful about the radiation levels on top of high altitude mountains, mile high modern cities and inside jet aircraft than from nuclear reactors and bombs, as that is where I get the most radiation exposures in the modern world. ~ Steven Magee
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Steven Magee
What in the hell is going on around here?" she yelled. "Could you guys keep it down to aircraft-carrier noise? ~ Rachel Caine
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Rachel Caine
Here the query A320 returns algorithmic search results about the Airbus aircraft, together with advertisements for various non-aircraft goods numbered A320 that advertisers seek to market to those querying on this query. The lack of advertisements for the aircraft reflects the fact that few marketers attempt to sell A320 aircraft on the web. ~ Hinrich Schutze
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Hinrich Schutze
A drone is often preferred for missions that are too "dull, dirty, or dangerous" for manned aircraft."

PROLOGUE

The graffiti was in Spanish, neon colors highlighting the varicose cracks in the wall. It smelled of urine and pot. The front door was metal with four bolt locks and the windows were frosted glass, embedded with chicken wire. They swung out and up like big fake eye-lashes held up with a notched adjustment bar.

This was a factory building on the near west side of Cleveland in an industrial area on the Cuyahoga River known in Ohio as The Flats.

First a sweatshop garment factory, then a warehouse for imported cheeses then a crack den for teenage potheads. It was now headquarters for Magic Slim, the only pimp in Cleveland with his own film studio and training facility.

Her name was Cosita, she was eighteen looking like fourteen. One of nine children from El Chorillo. a dangerous poverty stricken barrio on the outskirts of Panama City. Her brother, Javier, had been snatched from the streets six months ago, he was thirteen and beautiful.

Cosita had a high school education but earned here degree on the streets of Panama.

Interpol, the world's largest international police organization, had recruited Cosita at seventeen. She was smart, street savvy, motivated and very pretty. Just what Interpol was looking for.

Cosita would become a Drone! ~ Nick Hahn
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Nick Hahn
America pays defense contractors to build aircraft carriers. Google pays brilliant programmers to do whatever the hell they want. ~ Robin Sloan
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Robin Sloan
Spy planes, drone aircraft, satellites with cameras that can see from three hundred miles what you can see from a hundred feet. They see and they hear. Like ancient monks, you know, who recorded knowledge, wrote it painstakingly down. These systems collect and process. All the secret knowledge of the world. ~ Don DeLillo
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Don DeLillo
You might be surprised to learn that a yo-yo controlled by 1992 World Champion Dale Oliver was actually clocked at a blistering 14,300 revolutions per minute (rpm). Conversely, the Hornet plods along at a slower 2200 rpm. This is the same aircraft engine, however, that catapulted legendary aviator Roscoe Turner to victory in his Hornet-powered Wedell-Turner racer during the 1934 Thompson Trophy Race. During this race, Turner was able to sustain speeds in excess of 290 mph. ~ Dave Prochnow
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Dave Prochnow
Pilots have their names painted just beneath the canopy of their aircraft. This gives the pilot a sense of ownership for his or her jet. What's more, like cars, each aircraft has its own personality, so it's important for a pilot to get to know and love his aircraft. ~ Simon Sinek
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Simon Sinek
There's a joke in the aviation industry that the ideal aircrew in today's modern aircraft would be comprised of a man and a dog. The dog is there to bite the man if he so much as tries to touch the controls, and the pilot's one remaining job is to feed the dog! ~ Lim Khoy Hing
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Lim Khoy Hing
Washington is like a self-sealing tank on a military aircraft. When a bullet passes through, it closes up. ~ Dean Acheson
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Dean Acheson
The future of aviation human factors lies primarily with the discipline of individual flyers, not high-powered training programs, 3D simulation, or advanced technology aircraft. ~ Tony Kern
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Tony Kern
"When you have a fire in an aircraft, there's no place to go, exactly, there's no - and you can't find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don't open. I don't know why they don't do that. It's a real problem." ~ Mitt Romney
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Mitt Romney
Government, not the oil industry, is the biggest 'profiteer' from oil. And it uses the tax revenue to expand its own authority at the expense of the individual, as it does with an endless number of other industries - including electric power, coal, lumber, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, aircraft, and agriculture. The Statist's intrusion to the free market is boundless. ~ Mark Levin
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Mark Levin
The sleek, white Gulfstream jet cruised at forty thousand feet above the Tyrrhenian Sea west of the Italian mainland. The luxuriously-fitted and technologically-advanced aircraft showcased a cozy interior with windows that permitted ample sunlight to brighten the cabin. Though the plane could accommodate eighteen people, only one passenger was aboard the flight. ~ S.S. Segran
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by S.S. Segran
I wouldn't go anywhere in confined spaces now. When one person sneezes it goes all the way through the aircraft. That's me. I would not be, at this point, if they had another way of transportation, suggesting they ride the subway. ~ Joe Biden
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Joe Biden
Well, they didn't lack for topics after Hiroshima. Why should 9/11 slow them down? I know it got a lot of press, but it's just a few large buildings and aircraft, it's not like D-Day and the Seige of Berlin. ~ Bruce Sterling
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Bruce Sterling
The phenomenon is something real and not visionary or fictitious. There are objects approximating the shape of a disc, some of which appear flat on bottom and domed on top. These objects are as large as man-made aircraft and have a metallic or light-reflecting surface. Further they exhibit extreme rates of climb and maneuverability with no associated sound and take action which must be considered evasive when contacted by aircraft and radar. ~ Nathan Farragut Twining
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Nathan Farragut Twining
They inform them that an unidentified aircraft is not just heading toward the nation's capital, but rapidly approaching the P-56 prohibited airspace over the city ~ Paul W. Rea
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Paul W. Rea
I don't believe that humans can be reduced to homo economicus, but as a group, government officials are remarkably sensitive to financial, political, and reputational costs. Thus, when new technologies appear to reduce the costs of using lethal force, their threshold for deciding to use lethal force correspondingly drops.
If killing a suspected terrorist in Yemen or Somalia or Libya will endanger expensive manned aircraft, the lives of U.S. troops, and/or the lives of many innocent civilians, officials will reserve such killings for situations of extreme urgency and gravity (stopping another 9/11, getting Osama bin Laden). But if all that appears to be at risk is a an easily replaceable drone, officials will be tempted to use lethal force more and more casually. ~ Rosa Brooks
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Rosa Brooks
Within 25 years, virtual reality meetings will be essentially transparent to being there in person. Once we can do this, the idea of climbing into an aircraft, and burning up huge quantities of fossil fuels to propel our bodies and briefcases full of papers, will seem absolutely backward. ~ Burt Rutan
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Burt Rutan
I established strong connections between Rockwell and Israel Aircraft Industries. ~ Arnon Milchan
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Arnon Milchan
The passengers were on my aircraft, and I have to take responsibility for that. ~ Tony Fernandes
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Tony Fernandes
Aircraft do not crash of themselves. They come to grief because men are foolish, or vain, or lazy, or irresolute or reckless. One crash in a thousand may be unavoidable because God wills it so - not more than that. ~ Nevil Shute
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Nevil Shute
A demonic horde. Upended sacks of beans. A hundred broken rosaries. There are a thousand metaphors and all of them are inadequate: forty bombs per aircraft, four hundred and eighty altogether, seventy-two thousand pounds of explosives. ~ Anthony Doerr
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by Anthony Doerr
I've been lucky enough to have flown some very interesting aircraft in the past, but SpaceShipTwo is far and away the most exciting of them all. ~ David Mackay
Decommissioned Aircraft quotes by David Mackay
