Drama school is a pretty intense experience, and I think it changes who you are. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I still am a geek, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I see no shame in having an unhealthy obsession with something. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I love characters who are clever and smart, and you have to run to catch up with. I think there's something very appealing and rather heroic in that. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I took in a deep breath, and smoke twisted around my head as I let it slip through my teeth. "Do you know what my favorite show was when I was a little kid?"

The look again. "I would have no idea."

"Doctor Who. British sci-fi show."

"I am familiar with it. Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, and Matt - "

"No," I said. "The new show's great, but I grew up on the old one. The low-budget, rubber monster show with Tom Baker and Peter Davison. I watched it on PBS all the time as a kid."

I looked out at the dark ruins of Hollywood, at the stumbling shadows dotting the streets as far as you could see. The only other living person within half a mile was standing behind me, her eyes boring into my head.

"The Doctor didn't have super-powers or weapons or anything like that. He was just a really smart guy who always tried to do the right thing. To help people, no matter what. That struck me when I was a kid. The idea that no matter how cold and callous and heartless the world seemed, there was somebody out there who just wanted to make life better. Not better for worlds or countries in some vague way. Just better for people trying to live their lives, even if they didn't know about him."

I turned back to her and tapped my chest. "That's what this suit's always been about. Not scaring people like you or Gorgon do. Not some sort of pseudo-sexual roleplay or repressed emotions. I wear this thing, all these brigh ~ Peter Clines
David Tennant quotes by Peter Clines
I'm a good person, I hope. But I'm never as good as I want to be, never as nice as I want to be, never as generous as I want to be. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
If you can sell that you're the King of Scotland, or Henry V on a tiny stage in a studio theater somewhere, then you can probably sell that you're a starship captain or a time traveler. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
When you're older, you want to be scared because you understand more where the boundaries between fantasy and reality are, and I suppose they are more blurred the younger you are. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I was very small, about 3 or 4 I think, and just wanted to be the people on telly telling these wonderful stories. Obviously the idea grew and matured with me but I can't ever remember wanting to do anything else. I've just sort of taken it for granted all my life that that was what I would do. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
If you speak in a different accent, you begin to move in a slightly different way. You think in a slightly different way. I think it's part of trying to find what makes a character. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
And the very fact of how you speak somehow influences who you are. The way you move, the way you think, it seeps into your being, and it's quite hard to really break that down entirely. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I always like seeing people transforming themselves in whatever way that might be, and a different accent is part of that. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I dont know who I am but one thing I do know is that when I see a BIG THREATENING BUTTON I just want to do this! ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
Are you the stuff that hero's are made of? Or are you a jellyfish in a skirt? ~ Cressida Cowell
David Tennant quotes by Cressida Cowell
It has to be said that the bad guys are often more interesting than the good guys because you get to indulge part of your nature that hopefully gets subsumed most of the time. But I just like playing interesting characters, and variety's the spice of that, as it is with life, I suppose. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I really don't know who I am, so I don't know when to stop, so when I see a big threatening button that should never ever be touched, I just want to do this! ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I'd love to work with Aaron Sorkin on something. Just the way he writes, he has no fear in writing people that are fiercely intelligent, and I love that. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I have such fond memories of watching 'Doctor Who' when I was a kid and growing up, that if I've left anybody anywhere with memories as fond, then I feel like I've done my job. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I think if my eight-year-old self could see me at the Royal Albert Hall winning a prize for playing the Doctor on telly, he would need a stiff shot of Irn-Bru. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I know that David Tennant's Hamlet isn't till July. And lots of people are going to be doing Dr Who in Hamlet jokes, so this is just me getting it out of the way early, to avoid the rush ...
To be, or not to be, that is the question. Weeelll ... More of A question really. Not THE question. Because, well, I mean, there are billions and billions of questions out there, and well, when I say billions, I mean, when you add in the answers, not just the questions, weeelll, you're looking at numbers that are positively astronomical and ... for that matter the other question is what you lot are doing on this planet in the first place, and er, did anyone try just pushing this little red button? ~ Neil Gaiman
David Tennant quotes by Neil Gaiman
The Doctor' is the kind of character - because the guest cast is changing all the time, there are very few constants in the show, so the 'Doctor'- when you're there, you're in it a lot. You're speaking a lot. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
Is it sad to fancy David Tennant when you're dead? ~ Audrey Niffenegger
David Tennant quotes by Audrey Niffenegger
I hate it! I hate the air. I hate the sand. I hate the stupid people. I hate the way they work. I hate their bloody smiley bloody faces. I hate the never ending sky! ~ Chris Chibnall
David Tennant quotes by Chris Chibnall
I've always been a geek and slightly awkward ... slightly umm ... I was never the cool kid at school. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
Wow' said Rose 'I never Knew my wish really is your command.'
The Doctor (10th) grinned. 'One bag of chips and I'm anyone's ~ Stephen Cole
David Tennant quotes by Stephen Cole
Yeah, listen, listen, gotta dash, things happening--
well, four things--
well, four things and a lizard. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I'm as happy doing 'Postman Pat' as I am doing 'Hamlet.' ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
Twitter! It's like being stalked by committee! ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
How galling to watch someone who looks like you, who basically is you, do all the shagging you didn't get to do. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I remember a conversation with my parents about who the people on the TV were, and learning they were actors and they acted out this story and just thinking that was the most fantastic notion, and that's what I want to do. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
The gritty indie films are a lot rarer than the films that aspire to fill multiplexes. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I mean, you know, while I'm acting on stage I'm ranking quite high, but in a room with Barack Obama I'm probably into negative digits. I never feel very famous ... ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I think it would be self-indulgent to go, "Oh, I'm going to make this character different by giving him a quirk of some kind." I don't think that serves the story, particularly. But even very similar scenes with a different set of actors, a different set of circumstances, it starts to evolve as a different character. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
Back in 2005, when I was Christopher Eccleston, we saw one of the largest increases on record, of CO2 in the atmosphere. Unless we keep the rise in global temperature to under 2 degrees, by the time I'm Daniel Radcliffe or wee Jimmy Crankie, I won't be able to save the planet. I won't be here to help you
well I might, but I'll be that bloke who won Any Dream Will Do. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
I think doing different accents is part of the job of acting really. It's something else that I quite enjoy the challenge of, to be honest. ~ David Tennant
David Tennant quotes by David Tennant
The message of biblical Christianity is 'God loves me so that I might make him- his ways, his salvation, his glory, and his greatness- known among all nations.' Now God is the object of our faith, and Christianity centers around him. We are not the end of the gospel; God is' ~ David Platt
David Tennant quotes by David Platt
Across town, over in the East Village, the graffiti was calling for the rich to be eaten, imprisoned, or taxed out of existence. Though it sometimes seemed like a nice idea, I hoped the revolution would not take place during my lifetime. I didn't want the rich to go away until I could at least briefly join their ranks. ~ David Sedaris
David Tennant quotes by David Sedaris
As psychologist Bruce Hood writes in his book The Self Illusion, you have an origin story and a sense that you've traveled from youth to now along a linear path, with ups and downs that ultimately made you who you are today. Babies don't have that. That sense is built around events that you can recall and place in time. Babies and small children have what Hood calls "unconscious knowledge," which is to say they simply recognize patterns and make associations with stimuli. Without episodic memories, there is no narrative; and without any narrative, there is no self. Somewhere between ages two and three, according to Hood, that sense of self begins to come online, and that awakening corresponds with the ability to tell a story about yourself based on memories. He points to a study by Alison Gopnik and Janet Astington in 1988 in which researchers presented to three-year-olds a box of candy, but the children were then surprised to find pencils inside instead of sweets. When they asked each child what the next kid would think was in the box when he or she went through the same experiment, the answer was usually pencils. The children didn't yet know that other people have minds, so they assumed everyone knew what they knew. Once you gain the ability to assume others have their own thoughts, the concept of other minds is so powerful that you project it into everything: plants, glitchy computers, boats with names, anything that makes more sense to you when you can assume, even joking ~ David McRaney
David Tennant quotes by David McRaney
The calcium theory has probably done more to damage our health than any single theory in the history of humanity. ~ David Wolfe
David Tennant quotes by David Wolfe
Who decides which defects are funny and which ones are tragic? Nobody laughs at blind people or makes iron lung jokes. ~ David Mitchell
David Tennant quotes by David Mitchell
I am starting to realize what this means, and how sad it would be.
I am already feeling some of the sadness now, and it isn't even happening. ~ David Levithan
David Tennant quotes by David Levithan
Mr. Bloemker moved closer. He smelled like a wet diaper. "What is it," he asked, looking over Lenore's shoulder.
"If it's what I think it is," said Lenore, "it's a sort of joke. A what do you call it. An antinomy."
"An antinomy?"
Lenore nodded. "Gramma really likes antinomies. I think this guy here," looking down at the drawing on the back of the label, "is the barber who shaves all and only those who do not shave themselves."
Mr. Bloemker looked at her. "A barber?"
"The big killer question," Lenore said to the sheet of paper, "is supposed to be whether the barber shaves himself. I think that's why his head's exploded, here."
"Beg pardon?"
"If he does, he doesn't, and if he doesn't, he does. ~ David Foster Wallace
David Tennant quotes by David Foster Wallace
French, for example, is declining as an international language, but Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic are all languages of the future. Ethnic minority groups in the UK may well prove to be a major asset in this effort. ~ David Graddol
David Tennant quotes by David Graddol
When the heavens are obscured to us, and nothing noble or heroic appears, but we are oppressed by imperfection and shortcoming on all hands, we are apt to suck our thumbs and decry our fates. As if nothing were to be done in cloudy weather, or, if heaven were not accessible by the upper road, men would not find out a lower ... There are two ways to victory, - to strive bravely, or to yield. How much pain the last will save we have not yet learned. ~ Henry David Thoreau
David Tennant quotes by Henry David Thoreau
A lot of my musical education was done simply by listening. If you really want to excel on your instrument, it's almost impossible to not develop and analyze what you see and hear and to incorporate all of it into your own playing. ~ David Finckel
David Tennant quotes by David Finckel
I came not from within the administration, and it was clear and clear in our discussions and no one asked otherwise that I would lead this the way I thought best and I would speak the truth as we found it. ~ David Kay
David Tennant quotes by David Kay
...my big depression. For six months I languished at the bottom of a deep hole, like the shaft of a waterless well, while kindly, puzzled people...peered down at me over the rim of the parapet and tried to cheer me up, or lowered drugs and advice in a bucket. ~ David Lodge
David Tennant quotes by David Lodge
One day when I went out to my wood-pile, or rather my pile of stumps, I observed two large ants, the one red, the other much larger, nearly half an inch long, and black, fiercely contending with one another. Having once got hold they never let go, but struggled and wrestled and rolled on the chips incessantly. Looking farther, I was surprised to find that the chips were covered with such combatants, that it was not a duellum, but a bellum, a war between two races of ants, the red always pitted against the black, and frequently two red ones to one black. The legions of these Myrmidons covered all the hills and vales in my wood-yard, and the ground was already strewn with the dead and dying, both red and black. It was the only battle which I have ever witnessed, the only battle-field I ever trod while the battle was raging; internecine war; the red republicans on the one hand, and the black imperialists on the other. On every side they were engaged in deadly combat, yet without any noise that I could hear, and human soldiers never fought so resolutely. ~ Henry David Thoreau
David Tennant quotes by Henry David Thoreau
Even if it's dangerous, and painful, and so very, very lonely. One must go on fighting- It is the only honorable thing to do ~ David Klass
David Tennant quotes by David Klass
They were not rich. They were not powerful. They were truly the forgotten. ~ David Baldacci
David Tennant quotes by David Baldacci
Behind all of the "I can'ts" are merely "I won'ts." The "I won'ts" mean "I am afraid to" or "I am ashamed to" or "I have too much pride to try, for fear I might fail." Behind that is anger at ourselves and circumstances engendered by pride. ~ David R. Hawkins
David Tennant quotes by David R. Hawkins
Elementary school children are very impressionable ~ David J. Anderson
David Tennant quotes by David J. Anderson
The bottom line is that our government is not intelligent about how it pursues the public interest, because its decisions are not informed decisions (and its interest is generally not the public's). ~ Robert David Steele
David Tennant quotes by Robert David Steele
An ego should be like a warm breeze, never seen, just mildly sensed. ~ David Luiz
David Tennant quotes by David Luiz
How much in life is determined, and how much is due to chance? ~ David Gilmour
David Tennant quotes by David Gilmour
Every time we deny ourselves in order to serve someone else, we grow in Christ. ~ David Jeremiah
David Tennant quotes by David Jeremiah
Open is something, I think, that will continue to drive a lot of innovation. ~ David Filo
David Tennant quotes by David Filo
All nineteen-year-old males are children who are men capable of war. ~ David Burr Gerrard
David Tennant quotes by David Burr Gerrard
You know what I love best about baseball? The pine tar, the resin, the grass, the dirt - and that's just in the hot-dogs. ~ David Letterman
David Tennant quotes by David Letterman
I loved working with Mandy Patinkin, I have to say. ~ David Harewood
David Tennant quotes by David Harewood
I sense the world might be more dreamlike, metaphorical, and poetic than we currently believe
but just as irrational as sympathetic magic when looked at in a typically scientific way. I wouldn't be surprised if poetry
poetry in the broadest sense, in the sense of a world filled with metaphor, rhyme, and recurring patterns, shapes, and designs
is how the world works. The world isn't logical, it's a song. ~ David Byrne
David Tennant quotes by David Byrne
Normally, I do magic on the stage. But I can make magic credible and resonate through a TV screen. ~ David Copperfield
David Tennant quotes by David Copperfield
The grotesque prudishness and archness with which garlic is treated in [England] has led to the superstition that rubbing the bowl with it before putting the salad in gives sufficient flavor. It rather depends whether you are going to eat the bowl or the salad. ~ Elizabeth David
David Tennant quotes by Elizabeth David
It took three years to put Shakespeare's words together, there were a lot of words to be studied and a lot of words to be sorted out, and it proved to be a major project. ~ David Crystal
David Tennant quotes by David Crystal
Love is misunderstood to be an emotion; actually, it is a state of awareness, a way of being in the world, a way of seeing oneself and others. ~ David R. Hawkins
David Tennant quotes by David R. Hawkins
