My prototype of a woman was the type who would appear in hallucinations at the last moments of your freezing to death at the top of an icy mountain, a mythical beauty who blurred the line between dreams and reality. For four years, that's what I believed. And I wasted all of my university days–during which I had the most courage and honesty I would ever have towards life–because of it. ~ Qiu Miaojin
Crocodile quotes by Qiu Miaojin
Logs drowse in the pond
Dreaming of their heroes
Alligator and crocodile ~ Vern Rutsala
Crocodile quotes by Vern Rutsala
When the tribal groups of december trade
Seated in the figure of crocodile
And songs are sung and deals discussed, are made
Real. All ... For more than one reason they smile.
These codes are writ in secret, feeling fine
To keep what's private to my self since we
All must face our maker in our own ryhme
And reasons for being ( from regrets) free
So let the memory of your glory
Be the tenderness heartfelt love starkly
In the sky of my mind vast and pretty
Evermore glittering simplicity
Where in the truth of country grows sober
And sunshines through fog to radiate wonder ~ John Armstrong
Crocodile quotes by John Armstrong
The crocodile cannot turn its head. Like all science, it must always go forward with all-devouring jaws. ~ Pyotr Kapitsa
Crocodile quotes by Pyotr Kapitsa
EBay may be a shark in the ocean, but I'm a crocodile in the Yangtze River. If we fight in the ocean, we lose, but if we fight in the river, we win, ~ Jack Ma
Crocodile quotes by Jack Ma
the fallen of the baboon into the river is the risen of the joy of the crocodile. Though the crocodile becomes happy, it conceals its joy until it deploys all its necessary deft and strength to take captive of the Baboon ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Crocodile quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Has the Sperm Whale ever written a book, spoken a speech? No, his great genius is declared in his doing nothing particular to prove it. It is moreover declared in his pyramidical silence. And this reminds me that had the great Sperm Whale been known to the young Orient World, he would have been deified by their child-magian thoughts. They deified the crocodile of the Nile, because the crocodile is tongueless; and the Sperm Whale has no tongue, or at least it is so exceedingly small, as to be incapable of protrusion. If hereafter any highly cultured, poetical nation shall lure back to their birth-right, the merry May-day gods of old; and livingly enthrone them again in the now egotistical sky; in the now unhaunted hill; then be sure, exalted to Jove's high seat, the great Sperm Whale shall lord it. ~ Herman Melville
Crocodile quotes by Herman Melville
I suppose it's like the ticking crocodile, isn't it? Time is chasing after all of us. ~ J.M. Barrie
Crocodile quotes by J.M. Barrie
Elsa had looked back at the girl in the only way one can look back at someone who has just pointed at a Gryffindor scarf and said, "Ugly bloody scarf." Not totally dissimilar to how one would look at someone who had just seen a horse and gaily burst out, "Crocodile! ~ Fredrik Backman
Crocodile quotes by Fredrik Backman
When some portion of the biosphere is rather unpopular with the human race-a crocodile, a dandelion, a stony valley, a snowstorm, an odd-shaped flint-there are three sorts of human being who are particularly likely still to see point in it and befriend it. They are poets, scientists and children. Inside each of us, I suggest, representatives of all these groups can be found. ~ Mary Midgley
Crocodile quotes by Mary Midgley
I am the soul brother to everything that lives, to the giraffe and to the crocodile as much as to man. ~ Alain De Botton
Crocodile quotes by Alain De Botton
See you later, alligator. After a while, crocodile. ~ Bill Haley
Crocodile quotes by Bill Haley
OF course they did,' she snapped back. 'According to them, you single-handedly won a dozen battles, restored the Spanish throne, and infiltrated Napoleon's inner circle, after which you rode an elephant, wrestled a crocodile, and swam the Straits of Gibraltar. ~ Eloisa James
Crocodile quotes by Eloisa James
Even a thirsty man will not drink at the river where a crocodile waits. ~ Timothy G. Bax
Crocodile quotes by Timothy G. Bax
With the news that he would soon be a daddy again, Steve seemed inspired to work even harder. Our zoo continued to get busier, and we had trouble coping with the large numbers. The biggest draw was the crocodiles. Crowds poured in for the croc shows, filling up all the grandstands. The place was packed.
Steve came up with a monumental plan. He was a big fan of the Colosseum-type arenas of the Roman gladiator days. He sketched out his idea for me on a piece of paper.
"Have a go at this, it's a coliseum," he declared, his eyes wide with excitement. He drew an oval, then a series of smaller ovals in back of it. "Then we have crocodile ponds where the crocs could live. Every day a different croc could come out for the show and swim through a canal system"--he sketched rapidly--"then come out in the main area."
"Canals," I said. "Could you get them to come in on cue?"
"Piece of cake!" he said. "And get this! We call it…the Crocoseum!"
His enthusiasm was contagious. Never mind that nothing like this had ever been done before. Steve was determined to take the excitement and hype of the ancient Roman gladiators and combine it with the need to show people just how awesome crocs really were.
But it was a huge project. There was nothing to compare it to, because nothing even remotely similar had ever been attempted anywhere in the world. I priced it out: The budget to build the arena would have to be somewhere north of eight million dollars, a huge expense. ~ Terri Irwin
Crocodile quotes by Terri Irwin
Shabelsky: I'd go into the flames of hell, into the jaws of the crocodile, just so as not to stay here. I am bored.
I've become dulled from boredom. I've got on everyone's nerves. You leave me at home so she isn't bored alone, but I've made her life hell, I've eaten her up! ~ Anton Chekhov
Crocodile quotes by Anton Chekhov
I put a bullet into the back of the crocodile's neck just behind the head, thus killing it. If a crocodile is hit in any other part of its anatomy it disappears into the water and is irrecoverable. ~ Louis Leakey
Crocodile quotes by Louis Leakey
We'd been told that the village was already liberated, that there would be no resistance, but there it was, sat between the bakery and the church like a horsefly on a slice of melon. We'd been so relaxed we didn't even notice it until the barrel swung round towards us like the eye of a muddy crocodile and its jaws released the shell that killed two of us outright and young Tommy Kenah three days later in his hospital bed. ~ Claire North
Crocodile quotes by Claire North
The early Triassic was a period when the planet was recovering from the worst mass extinction it had ever known - that was the end Permian extinction, where climate change caused in part by mega-volcanic eruptions wiped out ninety-five percent of life on Earth. It took about ten or twenty million years for the planet's ecosystems to stabilize. During that time you saw a lot of weird, out-of-balance ecosystems where, for example, crocodile-like predators ripped the crap out of each other along the coasts. ~ Annalee Newitz
Crocodile quotes by Annalee Newitz
Like the crocodile, he strikes always at the weakest spot. ~ George Orwell
Crocodile quotes by George Orwell
The Marquis sighed. "I thought it was just a legend," he said. "Like the alligators in the sewers of New York City."
Old Bailey nodded, sagely: "What, the big white buggers? They're down there. I had a friend lost a head to one of them." A moment of silence. Old Naeiley handed the statue back to the Marquis. Then he raised his hand, and snapped it, like a crocodile hand, at the Carabas. "It was OK," gurned Old Bailey with a grin that was most terrible to behold. "He had another. ~ Neil Gaiman
Crocodile quotes by Neil Gaiman
To embrace the belief that man is the accidental product of a random and otherwise genetically and biologically impossible Darwinian gradual evolution allegedly monitored by a quasi-fictitious natural selection, a process that supposedly started with an amoeba nobody knows how it arrived on Earth that somehow became a fish with stumps for legs that turned crocodile, a creature that following successive transmutations "evolved" into an ape that ended up as Leonardo Da Vinci is an attitude that comes in conflict with the scientific method of research and it certainly violates its standard principles. ~ Paul Greene
Crocodile quotes by Paul Greene
Love is the crocodile in the river of desire. ~ Bhartrihari
Crocodile quotes by Bhartrihari
Getting eaten by a giant crocodile was bad enough.
The kid with the glowing sword only made my day worse. ~ Rick Riordan
Crocodile quotes by Rick Riordan
The novel, arguably the author's best, had a disquieting power, like a sleeping crocodile. ~ Roberto Bolano
Crocodile quotes by Roberto Bolano
Kill off the sacred bear. Kill off the ancestral crocodile. Kill off the myth-wrapped tiger. Kill off the lion. You haven't conquered a people, or their place, until you've exterminated their resident monsters. ~ David Quammen
Crocodile quotes by David Quammen
At a great distance appeared with the same pomp the sheep of Thebes, the dog of Bubastis, the cat of Phoebe, the crocodile of Arsinoe, the goat of Mendes, and all the inferior gods of Egypt, who came to pay homage to the great ox, to the mighty Apis, as powerful as Isis, Osiris, and Horus, united together.
In the midst of the demi-gods, forty priests carried an enormous basket, filled with sacred onions. These were, it is true, gods, but they resembled onions very much.
("The White Bull") ~ Voltaire
Crocodile quotes by Voltaire
A doll with skin like that isn't going to mess it up with a revolver shot. [ ... ] Revolvers are meant for crocodile-skins like ours. ~ Jean-Paul Sartre
Crocodile quotes by Jean-Paul Sartre
No matter how long a log stays in the water, it doesn't become a crocodile. ~ Philip K. Dick
Crocodile quotes by Philip K. Dick
New Rule: For at least the next generation, the Crocodile Hunter clan has to leave nature alone. This week, the late Steve Irwin's youngest son was bitten by a boa constrictor. Authorities don't know exactly what went wrong, but they think the accident might have happened when a bunch of idiots let a four-year-old fuck around with a giant snake. ~ Bill Maher
Crocodile quotes by Bill Maher
I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail, poisoned in the bushes,
blown out on the trail; hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn,
"Come in," she said, "I'll give ya shelter from the storm." ~ Bob Dylan
Crocodile quotes by Bob Dylan
You look at any poetic creature: muslin, ether, demigoddess, millions of delights; then you look into the soul and find the most ordinary crocodile! ~ Anton Chekhov
Crocodile quotes by Anton Chekhov
He broke through the wall of men surrounding Olivia - dim-witted fowl clustered about a dozing crocodile, as he saw it - and offered to take her home. ~ Loretta Chase
Crocodile quotes by Loretta Chase
Physicians do not systematically prescribe placebos to their patients. Hence they have no way of comparing the effects of the drugs they prescribe to placebos. When they prescribe a treatment and it works, their natural tendency is to attribute the cure to the treatment. But there are thousands of treatments that have worked in clinical practice throughout history. Powdered stone worked. So did lizard's blood, and crocodile dung, and pig's teeth and dolphin's genitalia and frog's sperm. Patients have been given just about every ingestible - though often indigestible - substance imaginable. They have been 'purged, puked, poisoned, sweated, and shocked', and if these treatments did not kill them, they may have made them better. ~ Irving Kirsch
Crocodile quotes by Irving Kirsch
They watched as the Shaw brothers played tug of war with a crocodile over what Travis would guess was a nine-point buck. The buck was still kicking, too, but that didn't stop the brothers or the croc.
"I'm sensing the crazy gene, hoss," Donnie mumbled.
"Ya think? ~ Shelly Laurenston
Crocodile quotes by Shelly Laurenston
We were alone in a strange mansion with a baboon, a crocodile, and a weird cat. And apparently, the entire world was in danger.
I looked at Sadie. What do we do now? ~ Rick Riordan
Crocodile quotes by Rick Riordan
Oh, devil, devil!
If that the earth could teem with woman's tears,
Each drop she falls would prove a crocodile.
Out of my sight! ~ William Shakespeare
Crocodile quotes by William Shakespeare
Have you killed a man, drowned a crocodile, hunted a wolf, or raped an abuser? Stop pretending you love someone. ~ M.F. Moonzajer
Crocodile quotes by M.F. Moonzajer
We must either rearrange this unstable universe or we must exit from here! If we are not a mosquito or a crocodile, we must either dry out the marsh or exit from it! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Crocodile quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
they knew what we're doing for them, they'd kiss our feet. But mentally they are closer to the crocodile and the hippopotamus than to you or me. That's why we decide what is good for them and have them sign those contracts. ~ Mario Vargas-Llosa
Crocodile quotes by Mario Vargas-Llosa
The Crocodile The sun of the Macusi people was worried. Every day there were fewer fish in their ponds. He put the crocodile in charge of security. The ponds got emptier. The crocodile, security guard and thief, invented a good story about invisible assailants, but the sun didn't believe it, took a machete, and left the crocodile's body all crisscrossed with cuts. To calm him down, the crocodile offered his beautiful daughter in marriage. "I'll be expecting her," said the sun. As the crocodile had no daughter, he sculpted a woman in the trunk of a wild plum tree. "Here she is," he said, and plunged into the water, looking out of the corner of his eye, the way he always looks. It was the woodpecker who saved his life. Before the sun arrived, the woodpecker pecked at the wooden girl below the belly. Thus she, who was incomplete, was open for the sun to enter. (112) ~ Eduardo Galeano
Crocodile quotes by Eduardo Galeano
To worship a crocodile is better to worship yourself. ~ Peter Kreeft
Crocodile quotes by Peter Kreeft
Just because one is spiritual doesn't mean that one doesn't like crocodile, cashmere. We live in a material world. We still experience these things. It doesn't mean to completely disregard them. ~ Tom Ford
Crocodile quotes by Tom Ford
Perhaps the apparent favor of the universe is no more than the crocodile grin of a Doberman breathing hard and about to be hungry? ~ Jorge Luis Borges
Crocodile quotes by Jorge Luis Borges
...but now that I know it's possible for a couple of zebras to outsmart a crocodile, life is starting to look up" -Joe ~ Sarah Weeks
Crocodile quotes by Sarah Weeks
Being only twelve, Klaus of course had not read all the books in the Baudelaire library, but he had read a great many of them and had retained a lot of the information from his readings. He knew how to tell an alligator from a crocodile. He knew who killed Julius Caesar. And he knew much about the tiny, slimy animals found at Briny Beach, which he was examining now. ~ Lemony Snicket
Crocodile quotes by Lemony Snicket
Only when you have crossed the river can you say that the crocodile has a lump on his snout. ~ Ashanti
Crocodile quotes by Ashanti
Can you believe him? I think the boy has lost his goddamn mind. Who the fuck plays tug with a crocodile? ~ Shelly Laurenston
Crocodile quotes by Shelly Laurenston
The healing repertoire of the Egyptians included herbal remedies for crocodile bites. ~ Wade Davis
Crocodile quotes by Wade Davis
The crocodile must want to be a crocodile for reasons of the crocodile ~ Louis Kahn
Crocodile quotes by Louis Kahn
The free world wants to feed South Africa to the Red Crocodile [communism], to appease its hunger. ~ P. W. Botha
Crocodile quotes by P. W. Botha
The initiate, a boy of no more than twelve, was wailing and a group of older boys were holding him down on a log while a few men cut into him, making hundreds of small slits on his back and shoulders. They dropped a citrus mixture into each wound so that the skin would puff up and the scars would be raised and textured to look like crocodile skin. His blood had soaked the log in dark striations. When they were done they painted him with oil and turmeric and smeared him with white clay and carried him off weeping and half conscious into seclusion until he healed. Fen and I walked down to the beach. I'd seen dozens ~ Lily King
Crocodile quotes by Lily King
Das Leben einen klugen Investors ist wie das Leben eines Krokodils. Es besteht zum größten Teil aus Warten. Warten auf die nächste Mahlzeit.

Crocodile quotes by Rick Riordan
It was a witty fiction of the poets, that when Mercury had cast Argus into a sleep and with an enchanted wand closed his eyes, he then killed him. When Satan has by his witcheries lulled men asleep in sloth, then he destroys them. Some report that while the crocodile sleeps with its mouth open, the Indian rat gets into its belly and eats up its entrails. So while men sleep in security they are devoured. ~ Thomas Watson
Crocodile quotes by Thomas Watson
The worst part of directing is always seeing the first assembly. It's devastating. It really is. It's like going into the delivery room and you can't wait to see your baby, and it's a crocodile. ~ David Ayer
Crocodile quotes by David Ayer
It's simple, Miss Philpot. This is one of God's early models, and He decided to give the subsequent ones smaller eyes." I raised my eyebrows. "Do you mean God rejected it?" "I mean God wanted a better version - the crocodile we know now - and replaced it. ~ Tracy Chevalier
Crocodile quotes by Tracy Chevalier
How doth the little crocodile Improve his shining tail, And pour the waters of the Nile On every golden scale! ~ Lewis Carroll
Crocodile quotes by Lewis Carroll
Is this how you repay my goodness
with badness?" cried the boy. "Of course," said the crocodile out of the corner of his mouth. "That is the way of the world. ~ Alex Haley
Crocodile quotes by Alex Haley
Each one hopes that if he feeds the crocodile enough, the crocodile will eat him last. All of them hope that the storm will pass before their turn comes to be devoured. But I fear - I fear greatly - the storm will not pass. It will rage and it will roar, even more loudly, even more widely. ~ Winston Churchill
Crocodile quotes by Winston Churchill
I got a film fairly quickly and felt like I was on a roll. I would walk into auditions sounding like Crocodile Dundee, thinking, 'This is going to be a novelty for them.' Then I realised that there are a million other Australians here, and I should just shut up. ~ Chris Hemsworth
Crocodile quotes by Chris Hemsworth
. His big crocodile tears stabbed my heart, and I knew my son wasn't allowed to cry again. ~ Michelle Hughes
Crocodile quotes by Michelle Hughes
Human ... I don't know what that word means ... Tell me what defines it. What sets it apart? Are you going to tell me its love? A crocodile will defend her brood to the death. Hope? A lion will stalk its prey for days. Faith? Who is to say what gods populate an orangutan's imagination. We build? So do termites. We dream? House cats do that on the windowsill ... We live in a shabby edifice ... hastily erected over a span of ten thousand years, and we draw he flimsy curtains to hide the truth from ourselves. ~ Rick Yancey
Crocodile quotes by Rick Yancey
After 'Crocodile Dundee,' I turned down lots of stuff, most of it where I'd play the girlfriend of some funny man. ~ Linda Kozlowski
Crocodile quotes by Linda Kozlowski
Feeling well that breathed words Would all be lost, unheard, and vain as swords Against the enchased crocodile, or leaps Of grasshoppers against the sun ... ~ John Keats
Crocodile quotes by John Keats
Coyotes don't eat dachshunds," Johnson said. "Dachshunds were bred to go down badger tunnels and drag the badgers out by their ass. A good-sized dachshund could weigh thirty pounds and has jaws like a crocodile. Old Dixie would straight-out fuck up a coyote." "Didn't know that," Virgil said. - ~ John Sandford
Crocodile quotes by John Sandford
You're the prettiest thing I've seen fall from the sky today. ~ Shaun Hick
Crocodile quotes by Shaun Hick
I have the best daddy in the whole world, and I will miss him every day. When I see a crocodile, I will always think of him, and I know that Daddy made this zoo so everyone could come and learn to love all the animals. ~ Bindi Irwin
Crocodile quotes by Bindi Irwin
You're not made from peace and love, are you?" he asked in a growl.
"More like snails and crocodile tails," I said. "I guess I just suck at being a little girl. ~ Darinne Paciotti
Crocodile quotes by Darinne Paciotti
Appeasement, said Winston Churchill, consists of being nice to a crocodile in the hope that he will eat you last. At the moment, the biggest crocodile in the world is Microsoft, and everybody is busy sucking up to it. ~ John Naughton
Crocodile quotes by John Naughton
The ugliest thing in America is greed, the lust for power and domination, the lunatic ideology of perpetual Growth - with a capital G. 'Progress' in our nation has for too long been confused with 'Growth'; I see the two as different, almost incompatible, since progress means, or should mean, change for the better - toward social justice, a livable and open world, equal opportunity and affirmative action for all forms of life. And I mean all forms, not merely the human. The grizzly, the wolf, the rattlesnake, the condor, the coyote, the crocodile, whatever, each and every species has as much right to be here as we do. ~ Edward Abbey
Crocodile quotes by Edward Abbey
You have only to creep into a secluded corner or into a crocodile, to shut your eyes, and you immediately devise a perfect millennium for mankind. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Crocodile quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
That lucky fucking inanimate animal. "I want to grow up to be a stuffed crocodile. ~ Lauren Blakely
Crocodile quotes by Lauren Blakely
Then, just as we were to leave on a whirlwind honeymoon in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, a call came from Australia. Steve's friend John Stainton had word that a big croc had been frequenting areas too close to civilization, and someone had been taking potshots at him.
"It's a big one, Stevo, maybe fourteen or fifteen feet," John said over the phone. "I hate to catch you right at this moment, but they're going to kill him unless he gets relocated."
John was one of Australia's award-winning documentary filmmakers. He and Steve had met in the late 1980s, when Steve would help John shoot commercials that required a zoo animal like a lizard or a turtle. But their friendship did not really take off until 1990, when an Australian beer company hired John to film a tricky shot involving a crocodile.
He called Steve. "They want a bloke to toss a coldie to another bloke, but a croc comes out of the water and snatches at it. The guy grabs the beer right in front of the croc's jaws. You think that's doable?"
"Sure, mate, no problem at all," Steve said with his usual confidence. "Only one thing, it has to be my hand in front of the croc."
John agreed. He journeyed up to the zoo to film the commercial. It was the first time he had seen Steve on his own turf, and he was impressed. He was even more impressed when the croc shoot went off flawlessly.
Monty, the saltwater crocodile, lay partially submerged in his pool. An actor fetched a coldie from the esky and ~ Terri Irwin
Crocodile quotes by Terri Irwin
But Carroll's were more convoluted, and they struck me as funny in a new way:
1) Babies are illogical.
2) Nobody is despised who can manage a crocodile.
3) Illogical persons are despised.
Therefore, babies cannot manage crocodiles.
And:
1) No interesting poems are unpopular among people of real taste.
2) No modern poetry is free from affectation.
3) All of your poems are on the subject of soap bubbles.
4) No affected poetry is popular among people of taste.
5) Only a modern poem would be on the subject of soap bubbles.
Therefore, all your poems are uninteresting. ~ Steve Martin
Crocodile quotes by Steve Martin
Smee", he said huskily, "that crocodile would have had me before this, but by a lucky chance it swallowed a clock that goes tick tick inside it, and so before it can reach me I can hear the tick and bolt." He laughed, but in a hollow way. "Some day", Smee said, "the clock will run down, and then he'll get you. ~ J.M. Barrie
Crocodile quotes by J.M. Barrie
My maternal granddad, Leonard, was full of amazing stories. He was an orphan, with 11 or 12 brothers and sisters, and he used to tell us about growing up near the Irrawaddy river and how one brother was eaten by a crocodile. ~ Jamie Cullum
Crocodile quotes by Jamie Cullum
SACRED, adj. Dedicated to some religious purpose; having a divine character; inspiring solemn thoughts or emotions; as ... the Cow in India; the Crocodile, the Cat and the Onion of ancient Egypt. ~ Ambrose Bierce
Crocodile quotes by Ambrose Bierce
The first contraceptive was crocodile dung," she whispered. "The Egyptians used it in 2000 BC. ~ Jill Shalvis
Crocodile quotes by Jill Shalvis
That's half of your trouble," muttered the crocodile. "You believe everything's true."
"That's because everything is," replied Mr. Bacchus. ~ Clive Barker
Crocodile quotes by Clive Barker
We passed through glowering statues of monsters and gods whom I'd fought in person- the vulture Nekhbet, who'd once possessed my Gran (Long story); the crocodile Sobek, who'd tried to kill my cat (longer story); and the lion goddess Sekhmet, whom we'd once vanished with hot sauce (don't even ask) ~ Rick Riordan
Crocodile quotes by Rick Riordan
Oh, that river of wishes, the slippery crocodile dream of it, how it might have carried my body down through all the glittering sand bars to the sea. ~ Barbara Kingsolver
Crocodile quotes by Barbara Kingsolver
Right," I said. "So the baboon, the crocodile ... any other pets I should know about?"
Amos thought for a moment. "Visible ones? No, I think that's it. ~ Rick Riordan
Crocodile quotes by Rick Riordan
They would beat him and hammer him
and drill him. He bobbed, and ducked, and refused to fall. They struck out, as if they were driving nails into him, and with every blow he felt more like himself ~ Ivan Vladislavic
Crocodile quotes by Ivan Vladislavic
Then I'll go keep our crocodile friends busy." Niten's teeth flashed in a smile. "I'll try to leave a few for you." He stepped away and faded into the night.
"Be careful," Prometheus called.
A disembodied voice drifted out of the fog. "I was born for this. What's the worst that could happen?"
"You could be killed and eaten by the Spartoi."
"Doesn't frighten me. ~ Michael Scott
Crocodile quotes by Michael Scott
How different this world to the one about which I used to read, and in which I used to live! This is one peopled by demons, phantoms, vampires, ghouls, boggarts, and nixies. Names of things of which I knew nothing are now so familiar that the creatures themselves appear to have real existence. The Arabian Nights are not more fantastic than our gospels; and Lempriere would have found ours a more marvelous world to catalog than the classical mythical to which he devoted his learning. Ours is a world of luprachaun and clurichaune, deev and cloolie, and through the maze of mystery I have to thread my painful way, now learning how to distinguish oufe from pooka, and nis from pixy; study long screeds upon the doings of effreets and dwergers, or decipher the dwaul of delirious monks who have made homunculi from refuse. Waking or sleeping, the image of some uncouth form is always present to me. What would I not give for a volume by the once despised 'A. L. O. E' or prosy Emma Worboise? Talk of the troubles of Winifred Bertram or Jane Eyre, what are they to mine? Talented authoresses do not seem to know that however terrible it may be to have as a neighbour a mad woman in a tower, it is much worse to have to live in a kitchen with a crocodile. This elementary fact has escaped the notice of writers of fiction; the re-statement of it has induced me to reconsider my decision as to the most longed-for book; my choice now is the Swiss Family Robinson. In it I have no doubt I should find ho ~ Wirt Gerrare
Crocodile quotes by Wirt Gerrare
[...] but personally if I never drink another crocodile pee I shall be a happy man.'
'Crocodile pee?'
'I always assumed that that was the main ingredient in Gatorade, but I may be wrong. ~ M.J. Trow
Crocodile quotes by M.J. Trow
Every day, I live a lie
But not the crocodile kind. ~ Megan McCafferty
Crocodile quotes by Megan McCafferty
But the dust! And the clutter! My housewifely and scholarly instincts were equally offended. ~ Elizabeth Peters
Crocodile quotes by Elizabeth Peters
When I went to Amazonia, l went as the field doctor for biologists studying crocodile behavior. There's no way humans should have any encounters with crocodiles. You should stay away from them! ~ Kenneth Kamler
Crocodile quotes by Kenneth Kamler
When one sees one of the romantic creatures before him he imagines he is looking at some holy being, so wonderful that its one breath could dissolve him in a sea of a thousand charms and delights; but if one looks into the soul
it's nothing but a common crocodile. ~ Anton Chekhov
Crocodile quotes by Anton Chekhov
The Allegator is the same, as the Crocodile, and differs only in Name. ~ John Lawson
Crocodile quotes by John Lawson
my mother the sparrow
my mother the nest
my mother the branches
my mother the leaves
my mother the tree who cut and whittled herself to build me
a boat offering safe passage
my eyes watch our slow sailing reflection in the water
in its stillness, it's almost impossible to tell
if the tiny yellow lights scattered across its surface are
mirrored stars or crocodile eyes ~ Sabrina Benaim
Crocodile quotes by Sabrina Benaim
To sit back hoping that someday, someway, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last - but eat you he will. ~ Ronald Reagan
Crocodile quotes by Ronald Reagan
Niten's hand moved and the ragged end of the broken katana caught the crocodile in the center of the chest. Eyes wide, mouth gaping in surprise, it staggered back into the fog. "You talk too much," Niten whispered. ~ Michael Scott
Crocodile quotes by Michael Scott
Beware of manufacturing a God of your own: a God who is all mercy, but not just; a God who is all love, but not holy; a God who as a heaven for every body, but a hell for none; a God who can allow good and bad to be side by side in time, but will make no distinction between good and broad in eternity. Such a God is an idol of your own, as truly an idol as any snake or crocodile in an Egyptian temple. The hands of your own fancy and sentimentality have made him. He is not the God of the Bible, and beside the God of the Bible there is no God at all. ~ J.C. Ryle
Crocodile quotes by J.C. Ryle

Crocodile quotes by Terri Irwin
Crocodiles, you will say, are stationary. Mr. Waterton tells me that the crocodile does not change, - that a cayman, in fact, or an alligator, is just as good for riding upon as he was in the time of the Pharaohs. That may be; but the reason is that the crocodile does not live fast - he is a slow coach. I believe it is generally understood among naturalists that the crocodile is a blockhead. It is my own impression that the Pharaohs were also blockheads. ~ Thomas De Quincey
Crocodile quotes by Thomas De Quincey
I wish that one of my children will be like the Australian guy from the Discovery Channel show. The crocodile hunter. ~ Shakira
Crocodile quotes by Shakira
The pirogues came with live turtles, and with fish, with cloudy beer and wine made from bananas, palm nuts, or sorghum, and with the smoked meat of hippopotamus and crocodile. The vendors did a good trade with our crew and the passengers down at the third-class boat; the laughter, the exclamations, and the argument of bargaining were with us all day, heard but not understood, like voices in the next room. At stopping places, the people who were nourished on these ingredients of a witches' brew poured ashore across the single plank flung down for them, very human in contour, the flesh of the children sweet, the men and women strong and sometimes handsome. We, thank God, were fed on veal and ham and Brussels sprouts, brought frozen from Europe. ~ Nadine Gordimer
