You need a plan for everything, whether it's building a cathedral or a chicken coop. Without a plan, you'll postpone living until you're dead. ~ John Goddard
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by John Goddard
There was just something so damn male about a man doing something with his hands. Something mechanical. Something sweaty. And dirty. Watching Coop in his natural environment was seriously turning her on. ~ Amy Andrews
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Amy Andrews
Just like that chicken coop, everything got four sides: his side, her side, an outside, and an inside. All of it is the truth. ~ Gloria Naylor
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Gloria Naylor
My old friend, what are you looking for?
After years abroad you've come back
with images you've nourished
under foreign skies
far from you own country.'

'I'm looking for my old garden;
the trees come to my waist
and the hills resemble terraces
yet as a child
I used to play on the grass
under great shadows
and I would run for hours
breathless over the slopes.'

'My old friend, rest,
you'll get used to it little by little;
together we will climb
the paths you once knew,
we will sit together
under the plane trees' dome.
They'll come back to you little by little,
your garden and your slopes.'

'I'm looking for my old house,
the tall windows
darkened by ivy;
I'm looking for the ancient column
known to sailors.
How can I get into this coop?
The roof comes to my shoulders
and however far I look
I see men on their knees
as though saying their prayers.'

'My old friend, don't you hear me?
You'll get used to it little by little.
Your house is the one you see
and soon friends and relatives
will come knocking at the door
to welcome you back tenderly.'

'Why is your voice so distant?
Raise your head a little
so that I understand you.
As you speak you grow
gradually smaller
as though you're sinking into the ground.'

'My old friend, stop a moment a ~ Yorgos Seferis
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Yorgos Seferis
On another she made chitchat with the cashier at the Coop. That was an absolute first. The checker offered a forced, availing smile in return. ~ Jill Alexander Essbaum
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Jill Alexander Essbaum
Even here, in the weight machine of a train station, they try to hoodwink us. Here, on the threshold of a man's freedom, just before he boards a train to a new life, these flashing fortune machines are the final alarm bell of the Rooster Coop. ~ Aravind Adiga
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Aravind Adiga
Are we to have a church in which everyone's judgment is equal to everyone else's? That's not a church, it's chaos. Common sense dictates that you keep the fox out of the chicken coop. ~ John Joseph O'Connor
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by John Joseph O'Connor
A permanent dull ache spread from my belly to my chest. I thought I could feel pinpricks of loneliness in the pads of my fingers, taste it in the back of my mouth. Clara Miller must have been lonely too, longing to be touched. One day as she sat before her metal tub filled to the rim with sweet corn, she reached behind her head and unpinned her silver hair. It tumbled down her back like creamy lace cloak. She hiked her skirts to her knees and I could see she had removed her stockings. Her legs were heavy and milk white, solid as columns. She hiked her skirts higher, until they bunched in her lap.

When I kissed the back of her neck she quivered, like the dying peasant I'd shot and killed a week before. Her silver hair smelled like smoke. Clara and I tangled together like the bale of wire resting beside the unrepaired chicken coop. We were shameless, falling to the ground, wading into the creek, making our way to her bed. ~ Susan Power
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Susan Power
Hi, already doused, was nonchalant. "Did the bad Indian throw you in the water, boy?" Taking a knee, he ruffled Coop's ears. "Been there."
Hi was referring to Ben's claim of ties to the Sewee, a North American clan folded into the Catawba tribe centuries ago. He'd even named his boat Sewee.
"I feel your pain," Hi continued. "Thanksgiving was a huge mistake."
Coop licked Hi's face.
"Not nice," I joked. "You'll sour Jewish-Sewee relations."
"It's true, I take it back," Hi said. "Our peoples have a rich history of mutual respect. Long live the alliance! ~ Kathy Reichs
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Kathy Reichs
I promised Coop two things before he died," I said. "One, I'd get his cut of the score to his wife. Two, I'd send Stanwyck to hell where he belongs. I'm keeping those promises." "The latter," Caitlin said dryly, running a sharp red fingernail down her menu as she read it over, "can be arranged, with pleasure." "I'm in," Pixie said. "Let's kill him." The table fell quiet. ~ Craig Schaefer
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Craig Schaefer
A fox will kill every chicken in the coop just because it can do it. However, a wolf takes only one lamb, and the rest of the sheeps start to fear him ~ Giles Kristian
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Giles Kristian
To understand why I jumped from the Mormon wagon train requires an understanding of what Mormons are and how they think. While Mormons have some quaint, quirky and fanatical ideas, they really aren't much different from millions of poor, guilt-ridden souls who, throughout the march of human history, have hitched their hopes to mass movements of one sort or another. Eric Hoffer, in his brilliant treatise, "The True Believer," explains the attraction of joining a cause: "A rising mass movement attracts and holds a following 'by the refuge it offers from the anxieties, barrenness and meaninglessness of an individual existence. It cures the poignantly frustrated by freeing them from their ineffectual selves--and it does this by enfolding and absorbing them into a closely knit and exultant corporate whole'. "Of all the cults and philosophies that competed in the Graeco-Roman world, Christianity alone developed from its inception a compact organization."

Once I realized this, it wasn't much of a leap out of religion altogether once I flew the Mormon coop. I simply wanted to be free from organizational groupthink. I escaped from the stuffy attic of religion's "pray, pay and obey" mentality into journalism's open laboratory of "who, what, where, when and why. ~ Steve Benson
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Steve Benson
Look, no one wants to hear that maybe she's the reason her mother flew the coop. But my advice to you is to put this behind you. File it away in the drawer that's saved for all the other crap that isn't fair, like how the Kardashians are famous and how good-looking people get served faster at restaurants and how a kid who can't skate to save his life winds up on the varsity hockey team because his dad is the coach. ~ Jodi Picoult
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Jodi Picoult
Coop kissed me deeply, drawing my breath from me in a long, sweet ribbon. "Perhaps I haven't mentioned it, but I'm an expert when it comes to first steps."
Are you," I said. "Then tell me how."
You close your eyes," Coop answered, "and jump. ~ Jodi Picoult
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Jodi Picoult
A man can't love you because you haven't read as many books as he has? He can't love you because you don't speak French or because you don't go to operas? You're telling me we have to fall in love with people who are just like us? ~ Billie Letts
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Billie Letts
He sprays the antiseptic on my skin. It burns and I grit my teeth. Grover lightly blows on my scrape, his breath making the pain go away. He dabs the Neosporin on my skin. I bite my lower lip, tears welling in my eyes. It's like everything inside of me hurts and feels euphoric at the same time. And I don't know how to feel like this. It was easy with Coop because he made me feel nothing. I'm a rag doll with him. But with Grover, it's as if every one of my senses lights up. Like I'm on fire and covered in water and floating in the air all at the same time. ~ Rebekah Crane
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Rebekah Crane
Why does a chicken coop only have two doors? ... Because if it had four doors, it would be a chicken sedan. ~ Mike Rowe
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Mike Rowe
It was the perfect distraction for Cooper to ignore the flood of...contentment... Hearing that their friendship had meant to Noah even a portion of what it had meant to Coop. Which, as a kid, had been everything. ~ Riley Hart
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Riley Hart
I got religion in the third grade, and jeepers, did I need it. The devil was in me, and Hardy Biesterveld wasn't helping. ~ Michael Perry
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Michael Perry
The Herb Farm reminded Marguerite of the farms in France; it was like a farm in a child's picture book. There was a white wooden fence that penned in sheep and goats, a chicken coop where a dozen warm eggs cost a dollar, a red barn for the two bay horses, and a greenhouse. Half of the greenhouse did what greenhouses do, while the other half had been fashioned into very primitive retail space. The vegetables were sold from wooden crates, all of them grown organically, before such a process even had a name- corn, tomatoes, lettuces, seventeen kinds of herbs, squash, zucchini, carrots with the bushy tops left on, spring onions, radishes, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries for two short weeks in June, pumpkins after the fifteenth of September. There was chèvre made on the premises from the milk of the goats; there was fresh butter. And when Marguerite showed up for the first time in the summer of 1975 there was a ten-year-old boy who had been given the undignified job of cutting zinnias, snapdragons, and bachelor buttons and gathering them into attractive-looking bunches. ~ Elin Hilderbrand
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Elin Hilderbrand
The weathered dairy barn, the wilted chicken coop, the leaning corn crib, the corroded silos
all were revealed as structures of utility and grace. Someone must have rigged Ry's perception so that he had spent his whole life seeing only the ultimate futility of these structures while concealing what made them worthy, the struggle itself, the striving for a better day. ~ Daniel Kraus
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Daniel Kraus
I snuck through the front door.
Shooing Coop before me, I beelined for the stairs and the safety of my bedroom. I hoped to avoid notice for a few minutes - my clothes were dirty and smoke-tinged, my hair a tangled mess.
But it was not to be. Whitney swung from the kitchen before I could blink.
"Tory!" Smiling brightly, she smoothed her apron with manicured fingers. "I was just about to wonder what you'd gotten up to!"
Whitney winked to assure me she was joking, but the cloying attempt at humor annoyed me anyway. It made me want to actually tell her.
I was out on Loggerhead, fighting with a group of genetic freaks, when a black-ops military attack squad tried to capture me. Oh, and Ben and I made out on his boat. You?
I smothered the suicidal notion. ~ Kathy Reichs
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Kathy Reichs
We lost Coop in this very spot not even a year ago, and here we are now - Coop's son being born right where he was lost to us forever. "Full Circle," I murmur, stroking Zac's cheek. ~ Harper Sloan
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Harper Sloan
It was this situation that led mathematician Chris Hauert and his colleagues to consider another possibility in an important evolutionary model published in Science in 2002. In Axelrod's study and in most previous theoretical models, individuals were forced to interact with each other. But what if they could choose not to interact? Rather than attempting to cooperate and risking being taken advantage of, a person could fend for herself. In other words, she could sever her connections to others in the network. Hauert called the people who adopt this strategy "loners."

Using some beautiful mathematics, Hauert and his colleagues showed that in a world full of loners it is easy for cooperation to evolve because there are no people to take advantage of the cooperators that appear. The loners fend for themselves, and the cooperators form networks with other cooperators. Soon, the cooperators take over the population because they always do better together than the loners. But once the world is full of cooperators, it is very easy for free riders to evolve and enjoy the fruits of cooperation without contributing (like parasites). As the free riders become the dominant type in the population, there is no one left for them to take advantage of; then, the loners once again take over -- because they want nothing to do, as it were, with those bastards. In short, cooperating can emerge because we can do more together than we can apart. But because of the free-rider problem, coop ~ Nicholas A. Christakis
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Nicholas A. Christakis
Don't you want to know my name?" he asked, grabbing the ketchup bottle without taking his eyes off of me.
"Sure. What's your name?"
"You don't sound genuinely interested."
"I'm not begging if that's what you're waiting for."
Throwing his head back, he let out a deep rolling laugh before focusing his dark gaze on me again. "I wouldn't mind seeing you beg," he said then added when I frowned, "Cooper."
"Anyone ever call you Coop the Poop or Poopy Coopy?" I asked, messing with him because his iron stare made me nervous.
"No," he muttered.
"Not to your face anyway."
A smile lifted the corner of his mouth and his gaze softened. "No, not to my face."
"I guess there are benefits to being scary. ~ Bijou Hunter
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Bijou Hunter
What if I don't believe in magic, Finn?
That's stupid, how can you not believe in magic, Coop? It's everywhere. ~ J.R. Richardson
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by J.R. Richardson
Placing the state in charge of moral principles is equivalent to putting the proverbial fox in charge of the chicken coop. ~ Murray Rothbard
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Murray Rothbard
Cooper hesitated, I stared at him and didn't blink. 'Pussying out Coop?'.. He shot me a measured look.. "I'm half Sicilia and half African. Both sides believe in retribution. The only pussy here is yours Commander". ~ Jeaniene Frost
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by Jeaniene Frost
She brought a chicken from the coop to the chopping block. She kissed the hen's beak in gratitude, knowing the hen would nourish many youngsters through her sacrifice.

After the blessing, Oota Dabun took an ax to the hen's neck. The death was instant. Painless. Such is the mercy that comes from the slayer who knows one day he or she shall also be slain. ~ David Paul Kirkpatrick
Coop Megas Xlr quotes by David Paul Kirkpatrick
Before he loved you, I suffered alongside him ... I was his son before he even met you ... Don't we need to be taken care of, too? "With all that money, the chicken coop [of relatives] gets all mixed up and the family gets warped," Jessica says. ~ Hector Tobar
