But all I do is just lay in bed
and hide under the covers.
I know I should be brave
but I'm just too afraid of all this change.
And it's too hard to focus through all this doubt.
I keep making these "To Do" lists but nothing gets crossed out. ~ Bright Eyes
Concatenating Lists quotes by Bright Eyes
There are a lot of things money can't buy. Not one of them is on my son's list. ~ Milton Berle
Concatenating Lists quotes by Milton Berle
Matt looked up kids from his high school class. Only three were listed as dead, but a bunch were listed as missing/presumed dead. As a test, he looked us up, but none of our names were on any of the lists. And that's how we know we're alive this Memorial Day. ~ Susan Beth Pfeffer
Concatenating Lists quotes by Susan Beth Pfeffer
I think that since I've had the baby, who's almost two, it's a work-hard-play-hard. Imake a lot of lists, I'm very scheduled, which is hard sometimes, but it keeps me organized - I know Now I can play or Now I've got to work. ~ Molly Sims
Concatenating Lists quotes by Molly Sims
Brave and anal: the ideal space explorer. Though you don't find "anal" on any of those lists of recommended astronaut attributes. NASA doesn't really use words like anal. Unless they have to. ~ Mary Roach
Concatenating Lists quotes by Mary Roach
I did my BA in English lit, and hated the restriction - I'd always read more in translation than not; coming from a working-class background, what I knew of as British literature - the writers who made big prize lists and/or were stocked in WH Smith, Doncaster's only bookshop until I was 17 - seemed incredibly, alienatingly middle-class. Then in 2009, just after the financial crash, I graduated with no more specific skill than 'can analyse a bit of poetry'. ~ Deborah Smith
Concatenating Lists quotes by Deborah Smith
If I want to have a conversation, I can't have a list of questions, because the second question on the list is going to interrupt the conversation. ~ Michael Silverblatt
Concatenating Lists quotes by Michael Silverblatt
As much as I think John Coltrane belongs on the list, I think without Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young, both of whom defined improvising on the tenor sax, there would not have been the evolution of the craft by John Coltrane. ~ Herbie Mann
Concatenating Lists quotes by Herbie Mann
Everybody has a list of 100 things they would like to change about themselves. But it's all about focusing on the good things. ~ Taylor Swift
Concatenating Lists quotes by Taylor Swift
What you've probably discovered, at least at some level, is that a calendar, though important, can really effectively manage only a small portion of what you need to organize. And daily to-do lists and simplified priority coding have proven inadequate to deal with the volume and variable nature of the average professional's workload. ~ David Allen
Concatenating Lists quotes by David Allen
Value will always be on top of everyone's lists now, right along with safety. ~ David Neeleman
Concatenating Lists quotes by David Neeleman
I'm not going to kill you, Nora. I don't kill people who are important to me. And you top the list. ~ Becca Fitzpatrick
Concatenating Lists quotes by Becca Fitzpatrick
I can only imagine how difficult it must be for someone facing racial or social prejudices to add autism to their list of struggles. It might be less stressful and at times, easier, to ignore the autism. ~ Liane Holliday Willey
Concatenating Lists quotes by Liane Holliday Willey
Hamilton's critics seriously underrated his superhuman stamina. He enjoyed beating his enemies at their own game, and the resolutions roused his fighting spirit. By February 19, in a staggering display of diligence, he delivered to the House several copious reports, garlanded with tables, lists, and statistics that gave a comprehensive overview of his work as treasury secretary. In the finale of one twenty-thousand-word report, Hamilton intimated that he had risked a physical breakdown to complete this heroic labor: It is certain that I have made every exertion in my power, at the hazard of my health, to comply with the requisitions of the House as early as possible. ~ Ron Chernow
Concatenating Lists quotes by Ron Chernow
Brands are useful ways of short-handing practically anything - look at the way Tom Wolfe first used brand name lists to sharpen up a character and a situation. Look at the most brand-referenced novel, Bret Easton Ellis's 'Glamorama.' ~ Peter York
Concatenating Lists quotes by Peter York
If you're trying to cast the widest possible net to attract the largest selection of men or women, the last thing you should do is to start listing your income, political views, and the like. Avoid mentioning specific comedians, shows, or movies unless those are top-tier attributes on your list. ~ Amy Webb
Concatenating Lists quotes by Amy Webb
The third major characteristic of God - "infinitude" - is the catchall, the universal modifier of Christian theology. God is not merely a being; he is infinite being. God is not merely good; he is infinite goodness. God is not merely wise; he is infinite wisdom. And so on down the list. God is exaggeration run amuck. ~ George H. Smith
Concatenating Lists quotes by George H. Smith
Growing up, I had the weird fantasy list: I wanted to be Alice Cooper, Steven Spielberg, and Stan Lee. You have to have almost psychotic drive, because you're going to have years of failure. ~ Rob Zombie
Concatenating Lists quotes by Rob Zombie
My big dream was to write. I never thought about movie deals or book awards or bestseller lists. I still don't. All I've ever wanted from this gig is to sell enough books to allow me to keep writing more of them. ~ Alistair Cross
Concatenating Lists quotes by Alistair Cross
Food was becoming more abstract, more aestheticized and compartmentalized-- and indeed, after kaiseki, who can ever go back to Burger King, or even a well-made gourmet sandwich? Instead of food, I longed for other things to swell my body and buoy its lines--- lists of ancient queens, the grave and stately names for the forgotten regions of the sea, the imagined words for desire in hermetic languages; food, on the other hand, was leaving me increasingly unmoved.... I grew thinner and thinner, streamlined, my blood nourished by ever-slighter molecules, some kind of pale elongated light running the length of my body, nightmares detouring it in the most starved, and so-lightly blue-black-bruised, corners of my flesh. In this state of non-health, every step became a performance, each stride an act of contrition, a question and an answer.... On the once-dry, now-flowering branches of my skeletal limbs, the words sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch were being invisibly but indelibly written. I was a festival of new senses.
~ Cynthia Gralla
Concatenating Lists quotes by Cynthia Gralla
A long list. From getting cut from the high school basketball team, to getting fired from jobs, getting credit cards rejected and cut up. Rejection has only been a distraction, not a roadblock. "Every no gets me closer to a yes," was the saying I used to use. ~ Mark Cuban
Concatenating Lists quotes by Mark Cuban
You do a lot of concatenating when you're an Oulipian ~ Daniel Levin Becker
Concatenating Lists quotes by Daniel Levin Becker
The job he did kept his brain busy enough to cover up the anxiety; to distract him from his dark thoughts. He could deal with lists and finances, any amount of work, any sort of job. That came easy to him. But love? Love was alien and frightening. The anxiety he felt at just the thought of her leaving him made him feel so severely sick sometimes, he couldn't even work. He was so in love with her. ~ Sarah Michelle Lynch
Concatenating Lists quotes by Sarah Michelle Lynch
I suppose I'll have to add the force of gravity to my list of enemies. ~ Lemony Snicket
Concatenating Lists quotes by Lemony Snicket
At one point, I worked up a list of five requirements for a superhero: superpowers, a costume, a code name, a mission, and a milieu. If the character had three out of the five, they were a superhero. But that's just my definition. ~ Kurt Busiek
Concatenating Lists quotes by Kurt Busiek
I met this kid from Miles City, Montana, who read the Stars and Stripes every day, checking the casualty lists to see if by some chance anybody form his home town had been killed. He didn't even know if there was anyone else from Miles City in Vietnam, but he checked anyway because he knew for sure that if there was someone else and they got killed, he would be all right. I mean, can you just see *two* guys from a raggedy-ass town like Miles City getting killed in Vietnam? ~ Michael Herr
Concatenating Lists quotes by Michael Herr
Life would certainly be easier if we all came equipped with our own personal FAQ lists. When we meet someone, we could pass them a business card with the list on the back, and then step back and let them read before we tried to talk. ~ Jeff Lindsay
Concatenating Lists quotes by Jeff Lindsay
I'd rather be number one on the worst-dressed list than number two on the best. ~ Nicollette Sheridan
Concatenating Lists quotes by Nicollette Sheridan
Freedom then is not what Sir Robert Filmer tells us, O. A.8 55, "a liberty for every one to do what he lists, to live as he pleases, and not to be tied by any laws." But freedom of men under government is to have a standing rule to live by, common to every one of that society, and made by the legislative power erected in it; a liberty to follow my own will in all things, where the rule prescribes not; and not to be subject to the inconstant, uncertain, unknown, arbitrary will of another man; as freedom of nature is to be under no other restraint but the law of nature. ~ John Locke
Concatenating Lists quotes by John Locke
I've been a list maker for years, even before I was a musician. I was always writing things down and kept long lists of things that would make good album titles and things like that. I'm constantly thinking in terms of songwriting. ~ Buzz Osborne
Concatenating Lists quotes by Buzz Osborne
Q7. The total output of all the mathematicians who have ever lived, together with the output of all the human mathematicians of the next (say) thousand years is finite and could be contained in the memory banks of an appropriate computer. Surely this particular computer could, therefore, simulate this output and thus behave (externally) in the same way as a human mathematician-whatever the Godel argument might appear to tell us to the contrary?

While this is presumably true, it ignores the essential issue, which is how we (or computers) know which mathematical statements are true and which are false. (In any case, the mere storage of mathematical statements is something that could be achieved by a system much less sophisticated than a general purpose computer, e.g. photographically.) The way that the computer is being employed in Q7 totally ignores the critical issue of truth judgment. One could equally well envisage computers that contain nothing but lists of totally false mathematical 'theorems', or lists containing random jumbles of truths and falsehoods. How are we to tell which computer to trust? The arguments that I am trying to make here do not say that an effective simulation of the output of conscious human activity (here mathematics) is impossible, since purely by chance the computer might 'happen' to get it right-even without any understanding whatsoever. But the odds against this are absurdly enormous, and the issues that are being addressed here, namel ~ Roger Penrose
Concatenating Lists quotes by Roger Penrose
No tablecloths, silver cutlery, fine porcelain, sommeliers, or deep wine lists - that's fine. But no service or hospitality? That's going too far. ~ Daniel Humm
Concatenating Lists quotes by Daniel Humm
Of the things I know to be true in life, right at the top of the list of irrefutable truths is, "No one ever listens to anyone." It might even be No. 1. ~ Merrill Markoe
