Gotta have a rusted out red farm truck to prove you're a farmer in Sonoma, or a sheep-milk dairy man. - Jake Knight in GUT-CHECK GREEN. ~ Peter Prasad
Climate Fiction quotes by Peter Prasad
The thick, stagnant air reeked of perfume, cigarettes, and exhaust. Everyone was barefaced, wanting to flaunt their features instead of hiding beneath blank masks. To be able to flirt with their lips, to be able to kiss. But I wasn't fooled by the dark - the air was still poisonous. Even if we couldn't see the brown haze, it smothered our city lit in neon. ~ Cindy Pon
Climate Fiction quotes by Cindy Pon
Twenty-five years ago people could be excused for not knowing much, or doing much, about climate change. Today we have no excuse. No more can it be dismissed as science fiction; we are already feeling the effects. ~ Desmond Tutu
Climate Fiction quotes by Desmond Tutu
We're like an alarm clock and the rest of the world is sleeping. - Brandy Wine from GUT-CHECK GREEN. ~ Peter Prasad
Climate Fiction quotes by Peter Prasad
Nevertheless, there is another threat on the horizon. I see this threat in environmentalism which is becoming a new dominant ideology, if not a religion. Its main weapon is raising the alarm and predicting the human life endangering climate change based on man-made global warming. ~ Vaclav Klaus
Climate Fiction quotes by Vaclav Klaus
I read everywhere. I read every day. I read on the couch with my dog in the afternoon and at night. I try to read at least two to three hours a day. I read only fiction. ~ R.L. Stine
Climate Fiction quotes by R.L. Stine
I like hearing other writers just about the way they approach writing. It gives me energy for my own work. It's weird; I'm always taking notes about fiction when I'm listening to people talk about craft. ~ Antonya Nelson
Climate Fiction quotes by Antonya Nelson
I drank the dregs of the wine to what remained of my health.
I gave the last of my fervor for what remained of my hope.
I cannot say for sure that this country is cursed,
Honey flows with the milk, and the milk might curdle.
Eli7 ~ Elizaveta Mikhailichenko
Climate Fiction quotes by Elizaveta Mikhailichenko
You were dancing with Yuki and I looked at you. And you turned away and held her closer. Why did you do that? If you didn't want to hurt me, then why?"
He looked away, as though he'd been slapped, but he didn't look guilty. He looked pained. "I closed my eyes," he said, his voice so low and strangled she could hardly hear him.
"What?" she asked, not understanding.
"Tamani held up a hand and Laurel realized he hadn't finished-he was having trouble speaking at all. "I closed my eyes," he repeated after a few shallow breaths, "and imagined she was you."He looked at her, his face open, his eyes honest, his voice a song of anguish. ~ Aprilynne Pike
Climate Fiction quotes by Aprilynne Pike
Scientists believe that the invention of clothing in Africa was a key factor in allowing our ancestors to migrate into colder climates and to spread across the globe. ~ Ziya Tong
Climate Fiction quotes by Ziya Tong
I am not a fiction reader. If I already do, I read fiction always more like the illustration of a philosophical-political thesis than a novel. My preference is history. If one does not know history, he is condemned to relive it. ~ Louis Tobback
Climate Fiction quotes by Louis Tobback
Book is a nice companion ~ Leo Tolstoy
Climate Fiction quotes by Leo Tolstoy
Those deep set eyes that look like they could tell stories for days, and that wavy brown hair that feels soft between my fingers. I try to memorize the angles of his jaw and the lines of his lips, because I know.
I know this may be the last time I ever see him.
Breathe fills my lungs, my throat relaxes, and I can't help but smile. Because I can see what he's thinking as clearly as if he'd spoken.
He doesn't want to leave - he doesn't want to go home.
He's going to choose me instead. ~ Elizabeth Norris
Climate Fiction quotes by Elizabeth Norris
They have an amazing proliferation of TV channels now: The all-cartoon channel, the 24-hour-science fiction channel. Of course, to make room for these they got rid of the Literacy Channel and the What's Left of Civilization Channel. ~ Dennis Miller
Climate Fiction quotes by Dennis Miller
Welcome, old aspirations, glittering creatures of an ardent underneath the holly! We know you, and have not outlived you yet. Welcome, old projects, and old loves, however fleeting, to your nooks among the steadier lights that burn around us ~ Charles Dickens
Climate Fiction quotes by Charles Dickens
Meanwhile, the great ash would rest where she lay, and mosses would creep over her trunk, and tiny creatures make their homes her dim hollows. Even in death she was a link in the great chain of the forest's being. ~ Juliet Marillier
Climate Fiction quotes by Juliet Marillier
Genres are what holds each story together and help it along, but in no way should it ever be treated as a boundary, especially for a reader. If I've only read science fiction books, I would probably consider myself mad. ~ Lauren Lola
Climate Fiction quotes by Lauren Lola
Nothing makes us love something more than the loss of it. ~ Rick Yancey
Climate Fiction quotes by Rick Yancey
I waited for my thighs and butt to uncramp. Of course, they didn't know the loosening rule. They were screaming things like *Are you crazy? Do you know we're thirty-five years old? Sit down and feed us a Twinkie! ~ P.C. Cast
Climate Fiction quotes by P.C. Cast
I don't think "I'm going to publish this as fiction" but I think "I'm going to tell this story to a friend" and then I start telling the story in my mind as the experience transpires as a way of pretending it's already happened. ~ Ben Lerner
Climate Fiction quotes by Ben Lerner
Literary fiction is kept alive by women. Women read more fiction, period. ~ Khaled Hosseini
Climate Fiction quotes by Khaled Hosseini
The only difference between reality and fiction is that fiction needs to be credible. ~ Mark Twain
Climate Fiction quotes by Mark Twain
The truth is that we're at a critical juncture in the history of our species and if we don't act soon, we could inhabit a world we don't recognize anymore. But the most important truth is that we are capable of stopping climate change before the worst of its consequences are locked in. The solutions exist - all we need is the will to do something about it. ~ Al Gore
Climate Fiction quotes by Al Gore
I'd never beat you black and blue. I aim for pink.
Christian Grey ~ E.L. James
Climate Fiction quotes by E.L. James
I am my own remedy.

I am my only way out.

It starts with me. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Climate Fiction quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
As part of his long-winded bullshit, Baby fell into a genre trope that he had avoided in his first two novels.

He started inventing new words.

This was a common habit amongst Science Fiction writers. They couldn't help themselves. They were always inventing new words.

Perhaps the most famous example of a Science Fiction writer inventing a new word occurs in Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land. Part of Heinlein's vision of horny decentralized alien sex involves the Martian word grok.

To grok something is to comprehend that something with effortless and infinite intuition. When you grok something, that something becomes a part of you and you become a part of that something without any troublesome Earthling attempts at knowing.

A good example of groking something is the way that members of the social construct of the White race had groked their own piglet pink.

They'd groked their skin color so much that it became invisible. It had become part of them and they had become part of it. That was groking.

People in the San Francisco Bay Area, especially those who worked in technology like Erik Willems, loved to talk about groking.

With time, their overusage stripped away the original meaning and grok became synonymous with simple knowledge of a thing.

In a weird way, people in the Bay Area who used the word grok did not grok the word grok.

Baby had always been popula ~ Jarett Kobek
Climate Fiction quotes by Jarett Kobek
The Coilhunter wasn't much of a talker. He liked to keep things short and sweet, just like the lives of criminals. Well, the short bit anyway. ~ Dean F. Wilson
Climate Fiction quotes by Dean F. Wilson
A wispy murmur in the blackness. Blackness, where before there was only nothingness. It was dark, inky and thick, but there now existed the palpable sense of tangibility.

She gasped in alarm, but no sound came out of her throat.

"Where am I?," she shouted, but no words made it past her lips. ~ G.S. Jennsen
Climate Fiction quotes by G.S. Jennsen
When I was a boy in Salem, Mass., in the 1950s, if you wanted to buy a book, you had to take a train to Boston. And when you got there, to a bookstore, there was no such thing as a science-fiction section. ~ Gardner Dozois
Climate Fiction quotes by Gardner Dozois
People ask me if I ever thought of writing a children's book. I say, 'If I had a serious brain injury I might well write a children's book', but otherwise the idea of being conscious of who you're directing the story to is anathema to me, because, in my view, fiction is freedom and any restraints on that are intolerable. ~ Martin Amis
Climate Fiction quotes by Martin Amis
Now an embryo may seem like some scientific or laboratory term, but in fact the embryo contains the unique information that defines a person. All you add is food and climate control, and some time, and the embryo becomes you or me. ~ Todd Akin
Climate Fiction quotes by Todd Akin
I think the thing that I lost in myself when I stopped writing fiction and the thing that I rediscovered and started mining again is, for lack of a better word, magic. It's the way you can brush up against the inexplicable and the mystical. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
Climate Fiction quotes by Elizabeth Gilbert
A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction. ~ Oscar Wilde
Climate Fiction quotes by Oscar Wilde
The political climate during a campaign is not the best climate for reasonable debate. ~ Jose Mujica
Climate Fiction quotes by Jose Mujica
The meaning of a story should go on expanding for the reader the more he thinks about it, but meaning cannot be captured in an interpretation. If teachers are in the habit of approaching a story as if it were a research problem for which any answer is believable so long as it is not obvious, then I think students will never learn to enjoy fiction. Too much interpretation is certainly worse than too little, and where feeling for a story is absent, theory will not supply it. ~ Flannery O'Connor
Climate Fiction quotes by Flannery O'Connor
Mica didn't just glitter; she burned, and he was on fire. ~ Erin Kellison
Climate Fiction quotes by Erin Kellison

Climate Fiction quotes by Roy L. Pickering Jr.

Climate Fiction quotes by Kailin Gow
As soon as we renounce fiction and illusion, we lose reality itself; the moment we subtract fictions from reality, reality itself loses its discursive-logical consistency. ~ Slavoj Zizek
Climate Fiction quotes by Slavoj Zizek
Fiction books give the reader a chance to step away from their own reality and into the shoes of the characters, and they show you a world that isn't the one you already know. And sometimes the story's not so different from your own, and it lets you get closer to your own feelings. ~ Shin Towada
Climate Fiction quotes by Shin Towada
The distinction between reality and fiction in America seems like it is becoming really blurry. With its religious fanaticism, reality TV programs and fake news broadcasts being aired by the government, the States feel like they are entering the Dark Ages. ~ Dana Schutz
Climate Fiction quotes by Dana Schutz
Ever since the millennial crash, the United States has been buffeted by currency shocks, interest-rate gyrations, and financial device bubbles. Government fashions move "investment" from real estate consumption to climate distractions. It was technology alone that saved the world economy. ~ George Gilder
Climate Fiction quotes by George Gilder

Climate Fiction quotes by George Monbiot
There's no need for fiction when we have everyday life. ~ Latasha Wakefield
Climate Fiction quotes by Latasha Wakefield
I got a scribbled comment that changed the way I rewrote my fiction once and forever. Jotted below the machine-generated signature of the editor was this mot: "Not bad, but PUFFY. You need to revise for length. Formula: 2nd Draft = 1st Draft – 10%. Good luck. ~ Stephen King
