For all the energy directed toward the stratagem of big city living, New Yorkers are never too distracted to respond to, and more often, proactively assist visitors. Tourists tracing the routes of subway maps with their fingers, squinting at street signs or staring at a slip of paper with confusion are typical recipients of our generosity. We know our city can be as challenging as it is fascinating, and we want visitors to have a good experience. ~ Gina Greenlee
City Living quotes by Gina Greenlee
LA is very different from New York. New York is a huge, dense metropolis. LA is a bunch of small towns all running into each other.

New York is the city that never sleeps. Los Angeles is an endless sea of suburbs. ~ Oliver Markus Malloy
City Living quotes by Oliver Markus Malloy
To the one in the skies, this city must look like a scintillating pattern of speckled glows in all directions, like a firecracker going off amid thick darkness. Right now the urban pattern glowing here is in hues of orange, ginger, and ochre. It is a configuration of sparkles, each dot a light lit by someone awake at this hour. From where the Celestial Gaze is situated, from that high above, all these sporadically lit bulbs must seem in perfect harmony, constantly flickering, as if coding a cryptic message to God. ~ Elif Shafak
City Living quotes by Elif Shafak
One of the reasons why I liked living in Manhattan was that the city would share your mood the moment you walked out the door. If you were in a hurry, everything else was too, even the pigeons. You shared the same speed and sense of urgency to get wherever you were going.
When you had time to kill, it was happy to give you things to look at and do that easily took up whole days. I didn't agree with people who said Manhattan was a cold, indifferent town. Sure it was gruff, but it was also playful and sometimes very funny. ~ Jonathan Carroll
City Living quotes by Jonathan Carroll
Anna Chapman was born Anna Vasil'yevna Kushchyenko, in Volgograd, formally Stalingrad, Russia, an important Russian industrial city. During the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II, the city became famous for its resistance against the German Army. As a matter of personal history, I had an uncle, by marriage that was killed in this battle. Many historians consider the battle of Stalingrad the largest and bloodiest battle in the history of warfare.
Anna earned her master's degree in economics in Moscow. Her father at the time was employed by the Soviet embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, where he allegedly was a senior KGB agent. After her marriage to Alex Chapman, Anna became a British subject and held a British passport. For a time Alex and Anna lived in London where among other places, she worked for Barclays Bank. In 2009 Anna Chapman left her husband and London, and moved to New York City, living at 20 Exchange Place, in the Wall Street area of downtown Manhattan. In 2009, after a slow start, she enlarged her real-estate business, having as many as 50 employees. Chapman, using her real name worked in the Russian "Illegals Program," a group of sleeper agents, when an undercover FBI agent, in a New York coffee shop, offered to get her a fake passport, which she accepted. On her father's advice she handed the passport over to the NYPD, however it still led to her arrest.
Ten Russian agents including Anna Chapman were arrested, after having been observed for years, on char ~ Hank Bracker
City Living quotes by Hank Bracker
Occupy Wall Street was a disorganized movement without a clear focus and power base - essential in any successful revolution - but the message was clear: the divisions between those who are fortunate enough to enjoy city living as opposed to those who find it unbearable are too wide. ~ Janine Di Giovanni
City Living quotes by Janine Di Giovanni
Living between cities, we are abandoned by them as much as they are by us, because if they gave us all we needed, we wouldn't have to leave. ~ Lauren Elkin
City Living quotes by Lauren Elkin
What Walter thinks is that people are like rivers. We never stay in the same place but jest keep flowing along, learning new stuff and picking up new experiences and changing all the time. So today's you isn't the same as yesterday's you and won't be the same as tomorrow's you.
But Walter also thinks that there's a real perfect you that you're always trying to get to, and the better you are at living your life, the closer you come to it. ~ Rebecca Rupp
City Living quotes by Rebecca Rupp
The city blew the windows of my brain wide open. But being in a place so bright, fast and brilliant made you vertiginous with possibility: it didn't necessarily help you grasp those possibilities. I still had no idea what I was going to do. I felt directionless and lost in the crowd. I couldn't yet see how the city worked, but I began to find out. ~ Hanif Kureishi
City Living quotes by Hanif Kureishi
It makes me smile because you said it best
I would clearly feel blessed if the sun rose up from the west. ~ Owl City
City Living quotes by Owl City
I am convinced that there is no sort of boundary between the living and the mental or between the biological and the psychological. From the moment an organism takes account of a previous experience and adapts to a new situation, that very much resembles psychology. ~ Jean Piaget
City Living quotes by Jean Piaget
Fighters find it hard to give up doing what they do best - fighting for a living. ~ Evander Holyfield
City Living quotes by Evander Holyfield
I curl my hand around her throat so her heart beats right into my palm," Fyodor confessed as if he could read Timur's mind. "Even that isn't enough. I can hear my own heart beating right over top of hers because I'm terrified living with the idea that I could lose her". ~ Christine Feehan
City Living quotes by Christine Feehan
Don't be adamant; don't make up your mind about all the things that don't even have anything at all to do with you. Don't be too quick to define right and wrong. Life has a way of putting the adamant person into the very situations they've made up their minds about, in order to change those very decisions. So, unless you want the things that you judge in others to happen to you, you'd better live and let live. ~ C. JoyBell C.
City Living quotes by C. JoyBell C.
And I'm not ready to tell you I'm in love with you, because I'm not. Not yet. But whatever this I'm feeling - it's so much more than like ... And for the past few weeks I've been trying to figure it out. I've been trying to figure out why there isn't some word to describe it. I want to tell you exactly how I feel but there isn't a single goddamned word in the entire dictionary that can describe this point between liking you and loving you, but I need that word ... "
"Living,"she finally whispers.
"I live you, Sky ... I live you so much. ~ Colleen Hoover
City Living quotes by Colleen Hoover
Take care, take care. This city thrives! It's money gives you wings to soar. But it is a yoke on your shoulders and you would do well to take note of the bruise around your neck. ~ Jessie Burton
City Living quotes by Jessie Burton
Death is coming for this planet and every living thing on it." "Death is coming for all of us, this planet included, whether we prolong its existence or not," Chakotay said. ~ Kirsten Beyer
City Living quotes by Kirsten Beyer
The reality of the Life Review is becoming part of our every day understanding. We know that after death, we have to look at our lives again; and we're going to agonize over every missed opportunity, over every case in which we failed to act. This knowledge is contributing to our determination to pursue every intuitive image that comes to mind, and keep it firmly in awareness. We're living life in a more deliberate way. We don't want to miss a single important event. We don't want the pain of looking back later and realizing that we blew it, that we failed to make the right decisions. ~ James Redfield
City Living quotes by James Redfield
People who choose to earn money first, people who put off their real plans until later, until they are rich, are not necessarily wrong. People who want only to live, and who reckon living is absolute freedom, the exclusive pursuit of happiness, the sole satisfaction of their desires and instincts, the immediate enjoyment of the boundless riches of the world [ ... ] such people will always be unhappy. It is true [ ... ] that there are people for whom this kind of dilemma does not arise, or hardly arises, either because they are too poor and have no requirements beyond a slightly better diet, slightly better housing, slightly less work, or because they are too rich, from the start, to understand the import or even the meaning of such a distinction. But nowadays and in our part of the world, more and more people are neither rich nor poor: they dream of wealth, and could become wealthy; and that is where their misfortunes begin."
-from "Things: A Story of the Sixties ~ Georges Perec
City Living quotes by Georges Perec
The 5 Principles of JOMO:

1. JOMO is the opposite of FOMO (the Fear Of Missing Out).

2. JOMO is intentionally choosing what to keep and what to give.

3. JOMO is choosing to ignore the Joneses (NOT just NOT keep up).

4. JOMO is framing the moment to keep the big picture dream in focus.

5. JOMO is the art of improved results with minimalism over maximalism. ~ Richie Norton
City Living quotes by Richie Norton
Enjoy memories of the past, cherish every moment of present and focus on your future achievement ~ S G
City Living quotes by S G
I guess it kind of stemmed from my father. He was a union guy working for the meat plant down in Kansas City. He was a union guy, and I guess it was just in my blood. ~ David Cone
City Living quotes by David Cone
I sat there afraid that I might discover that the world around me is not real. then i thought: wait. i need fear that only if its true, and if it is, i must consider that while this may be bad, worse than that is living in a world that is only real because i am a coward. ~ Philip K. Jason
City Living quotes by Philip K. Jason
For most people, the price for security is personal freedom. And without freedom, many people spend their lives working for money, rather than living out to their dreams ~ Robert Kiyosaki
City Living quotes by Robert Kiyosaki
who have overtaken city halls across the country's eastern half. Although the standoff in ~ Anonymous
City Living quotes by Anonymous
The more I love humanity in general the less I love man in particular. In my dreams, I often make plans for the service of humanity, and perhaps I might actually face crucifixion if it were suddenly necessary. Yet I am incapable of living in the same room with anyone for two days together. I know from experience. As soon as anyone is near me, his personality disturbs me and restricts my freedom. In twenty-four hours I begin to hate the best of men: one because he's too long over his dinner, another because he has a cold and keeps on blowing his nose. I become hostile to people the moment they come close to me. But it has always happened that the more I hate men individually the more I love humanity. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
City Living quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Most notable distinction between living and inanimate beings is that the former maintain themselves by renewal. ~ John Dewey
City Living quotes by John Dewey
It was said that [Vetinari] would tolerate absolutely anything apart from anything that threatened the city* ... [Footnote] And mime artists. It was a strange aversion, but there you are. Anyone in baggy trousers and a white face who tried to ply their art anywhere within Ankh's crumbling walls would very quickly find themselves in a a scorpion pit, on one wall of which was painted the advice: Learn The Words. ~ Terry Pratchett
City Living quotes by Terry Pratchett
Unfortunately it is perhaps in all our natures that we take the living for granted until they are no longer with us. - Thomas Bond ~ Sarah Pinborough
City Living quotes by Sarah Pinborough
Sure, Tod's makes shoes and bags. But we make them using leather, which is a living substance to me. And behind each shoe and bag, which in itself may be attractive and useful and comfortable to carry and wear, there is this Italian spirit, this Italian dream. ~ Diego Della Valle
City Living quotes by Diego Della Valle
As proud as we are of this city and as extraordinary as it is, all of south Louisiana and all of the Gulf Coast is a very special place, and the federal government has underinvested in it year after year after year, whether it's education or health care. ~ Mary Landrieu
City Living quotes by Mary Landrieu
It brings me
back to the moment,
and I want to live
the moment with everything I've got. ~ Lisa Schroeder
City Living quotes by Lisa Schroeder
The dead sleep in their moonless night; my business is with the living. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
City Living quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
It's the eternal tragedy of being gay in Bombay," I lamented. "Never a place to yourself." With city rents so high, most sons lived with their parents until marriage - and usually well after as well. ~ Manil Suri
City Living quotes by Manil Suri
With movies, you can do a lot more roles a lot faster. My favorite thing about acting is taking on new characters. It's fun switching it up at times. No matter what, I feel so honored and blessed to be 16 and already living my dream. It's really special. ~ Sammi Hanratty
City Living quotes by Sammi Hanratty
The history of the labor movement needs to be taught in every school in this land. America is a living testimonial to what free men and women, organized in free democratic trade unions can do to make a better life. We ought to be proud of it! ~ Hubert H. Humphrey
City Living quotes by Hubert H. Humphrey
Who are you, reader, reading my poems a hundred years hence?
I cannot send you one single flower from this wealth of the spring, one single streak of gold from yonder clouds.
Open your doors and look abroad.
From your blossoming garden gather fragrant memories of the vanished flowers of an hundred years before.
In the joy of your heart may you feel the living joy that sang one spring morning, sending its glad voice across an hundred years. ~ Rabindranath Tagore
City Living quotes by Rabindranath Tagore
It's the perfect recipe for reducing stress and having a pleasant and productive evening. ~ Amy Leigh Mercree
City Living quotes by Amy Leigh Mercree
My corps of attorneys will contact you in the morning wherever it is that you carry on your questionable activities. I shall warn them beforehand that they may expect to see and hear anything. They are all brilliant attorneys, pillars of the community, aristocratic Creole scholars whose knowledge of the more surreptitious forms of living is quite limited. They may even refuse to see you. A considerably lesser representative may be sent to call upon you, some junior partner whom they've taken in out of pity. ~ John Kennedy Toole
City Living quotes by John Kennedy Toole
Oh, good. You're starting to talk about yourself in the third person. That's not a sign of impending megalomania or anything. ~ Cassandra Clare
