We are all entitled to our own share of mistakes and learning experiences in life. No one should take them away from us. Not even our parents. ~ Lukasz Laniecki
Career Paths quotes by Lukasz Laniecki
Aim high in your career, but stay humble in your heart. ~ Korean Proverb.
Career Paths quotes by Korean Proverb.
It's a jungle gym, not a ladder. ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Career Paths quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
The message to organizations is this: You have to increase the number of categories of contributing, or the types of career paths, which people can experience as successful. You cannot restrict esteem to the fewer and fewer who will be climbing up the management ladder. You need to have the majority of your people feeling like winners. ~ Judith M Bardwick
Career Paths quotes by Judith M Bardwick
Still, my argument was that if she was going to work for the next thirty years, what difference does going "back" four years really make? If the other path made her happier and offered her a chance to learn new skills, that meant she was actually moving forward. ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Career Paths quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
Once more September marveled that even the Dodo knew what she wanted to be when she was grown. She simply could not think what she herself might do. September expected that destinies, which is how she thought of professions, simply landed upon one like a crown, and ever after no one questioned or fretted over it, being sure of one's own use in the world. It was only that somehow her crown had not yet appeared. She did hope it would hurry up. ~ Catherynne M Valente
Career Paths quotes by Catherynne M Valente
I am certain that Eric will get the job. His career path is very straight, like that of an arrow to its target. If I were to draw my path out, it would look like a gas particle flying around in space. ~ Weike Wang
Career Paths quotes by Weike Wang
Good mentors are essential for a successful career. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Career Paths quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Trust me, ... I know where my heart is and my heart's right here. I'm going to keep doing everything because I love to do it, but I will never sacrifice my time between the ropes. That's no shot to anybody. Everybody's got different career paths. This is mine. ~ John Cena
Career Paths quotes by John Cena
I've broken a cardinal rule of art, music, and career paths: actors are supposed to act, and musicians are supposed to music. That's how it works. You don't buy fish from a dentist, or ask a plumber for financial advice, so why listen to an actor's music? ~ Hugh Jackman
Career Paths quotes by Hugh Jackman
People have a much greater chance of finding something they'll enjoy doing and making those greatest contributions when they trust themselves and are free to make their own life choices (are not marionettes in the hands of their parents). ~ Lukasz Laniecki
Career Paths quotes by Lukasz Laniecki
That's not our role here, provide our parents with a "success story" to share at gatherings.

Our role here is to contribute the best we can to the society. Use our talents and make sure we add the greatest value possible to other people's lives. ~ Lukasz Laniecki
Career Paths quotes by Lukasz Laniecki
Remarkable visions and genuine insights are always met with resistance. And when you start to make progress, your efforts are met with even more resistance. Products, services, career paths - whatever it is, the forces for mediocrity will align to stop you, forgiving no errors and never backing down until it's over. If it were any other way, it would be easy. And if it were any other way, everyone would do it and your work would ultimately be devalued. The yin and yang are clear: without people pushing against your quest to do something worth talking about, it's unlikely to be worth the journey. Persist. ~ Seth Godin
Career Paths quotes by Seth Godin
Let's be clear: all professions look bad in the movies. And there's a good reason for this. Movies don't portray career paths, they conscript interesting lifestyles to serve a plot. So lawyers are all unscrupulous and doctors are all uncaring. Psychiatrists are all crazy, and politicians are all corrupt. All cops are psychopaths, and all businessmen are crooks. Even moviemakers come off badly: directors are megalomaniacs, actors are spoiled brats. Since all occupations are portrayed negatively, why expect scientists to be treated differently? ~ Michael Crichton
Career Paths quotes by Michael Crichton
Home Economics & Civics
What ever happened to the two courses that were cornerstone programs of public education? For one, convenience foods made learning how to cook seem irrelevant. Home Economics was also gender driven and seemed to stratify women, even though most well paid chefs are men. Also, being considered a dead-end high school program, in a world that promotes continuing education, it has waned in popularity. With both partners in a marriage working, out of necessity or choice, career-minded couples would rather go to a restaurant or simply micro-burn a frozen pre-prepared food packet. Almost anybody that enjoys the preparation of food can make a career of it by going to a specialty school such as the Culinary Institute of America along the Hudson River in Hyde Park, New York. Also, many colleges now have programs that are directed to those that are interested in cooking as a career. However, what about those that are looking to other career paths but still have a need to effectively run a household? Who among us is still concerned with this mundane but necessary avocation that so many of us are involved with? Public Schools should be aware that the basic requirements to being successful in life include how to balance and budget a checking and a savings account. We should all be able to prepare a wholesome, nutritious and delicious meal, make a bed and clean up behind one's self, not to mention taking care of children that may become a part of the family ~ Hank Bracker
Career Paths quotes by Hank Bracker
There are direct paths to a successful career. But there are plenty of indirect paths, too. ~ Clayton M Christensen
Career Paths quotes by Clayton M Christensen
The follow your dreams thing is really important because so many people are railroaded into taking other paths by their family, their friends, people who should be supportive going, 'What are you talking about?' Even just seemingly regular career paths, but if it's not what people expect for you they kind of react funny. ~ Joan Jett
Career Paths quotes by Joan Jett
Fall makes me think that if I fail horribly at this art thing, and then fail horribly with this writing thing, I'll go run a pumpkin patch. ~ Tyler Hojberg
Career Paths quotes by Tyler Hojberg
A decision is only as strong as the belief standing behind it ~ Isaiah Hankel
Career Paths quotes by Isaiah Hankel
People have been on earth in our present form for only about 100,000 years, and in so many ways we're still ironing out our kinks. These turtles we've been traveling with, they outrank us in longevity, having earned three more zeros than we. They've got one hundred million years of success on their resume, and they've learned something about how to survive in the world. And this, I think, is part of it: they have settled upon peaceful career paths, with a stable rhythm. If humans could survive another one hundred million years, I expect we would no longer find ourselves riding bulls. It's not so much that I think animals have rights; it's more that I believe humans have hearts and minds- though I've yet to see consistent, convincing proof of either. Turtles may seem to lack sense, but they don't do senseless things. They're not terribly energetic, yet they do not waste energy… turtles cannot consider what might happen yet nothing turtles do threatens anyone's future. Turtles don't think about the next generation, but they risk and provide all they can to ensure that there will be one. Meanwhile, we profess to love our own offspring above all else, yet above all else it is they from whom we daily steal. We cannot learn to be more like turtles, but from turtles we could learn to be more human. That is the wisdom carried within one hundred million years of survival. What turtles could learn from us, I can't quite imagine. ~ Carl Safina
Career Paths quotes by Carl Safina
Mastery is not a function of genius or talent. It is a function of time and intense focus applied to a particular field of knowledge. But there is another element, an X factor that Masters inevitably possess, that seems mystical but that is accessible to us all. Whatever field of activity we are involved in, there is generally an accepted path to the top. It is a path that others followed, and because we are conformist creatures, most of us opt for this conventional route. But Masters have a strong inner guiding system and a high level of self-awareness. What has suited others in the past does not suit them, and they know that trying to fit into a conventional mold would only lead to a dampening of spirit, the reality they seek eluding them.

And so inevitably, these Masters, as they progress on their career paths, make a choice at a key moment in their lives: they decide to forge their own route, one that others will see as unconventional, but that suits their own spirit and rhythms and leads them closer to discovering the hidden truths of their objects of study. This key choice takes self-confidence and self-awarenes–the X factor that is necessary for attaining mastery... ~ Robert Greene
Career Paths quotes by Robert Greene
An approach, according to which children should fulfil their parents' dreams/ do everything in order to make their parents happy/ provide their parents with a peace of mind, or whatever they want for themselves - because they owe it to them for all those years in which their parents took care of them - is utterly selfish. ~ Lukasz Laniecki
Career Paths quotes by Lukasz Laniecki
Through career fumbles and life changes, she supported me. Through shattered dreams and hopes almost-realized, she supported me too. ~ Shannon Celebi
Career Paths quotes by Shannon Celebi
I guided my heap into the heart of Capitol Hill wondering for the first time in fourteen years what I could do to get money besides drive cabs or rob banks. Both occupations had their pros and cons. For instance, bank robbery isn't quite as dangerous as cab driving, but it pays better. ~ Gary Reilly
Career Paths quotes by Gary Reilly
It's just that... since we met, I have been rather... well, fascinated by..."
You.
Say it, he willed, not entirely certain what he would do if she did, but willing to put himself to the test.
She took another breath. "By your bones."
Would she ever say anything expected? "My bones?"
She nodded. "Yes. Well, the muscles and tendons, too. Your forearms. Your thighs. And earlier- while I watched you drink whiskey- by your hands."
Cross had been propositioned many times in his life. He'd made a career of refusing women's requests. But he had never been complimented on his bones.
It was the strangest, sexiest confession he'd ever heard.
And he had no idea how to respond. ~ Sarah MacLean
Career Paths quotes by Sarah MacLean
You should always stand up for what you believe and never stand down to promise or protect your career. ~ Debra L. Lee
Career Paths quotes by Debra L. Lee
My mom didn't run for mayor until she was 65 years old - it was like a second and third career ... The way I've always thought about it is that I don't believe you run for office because you want a job. I believe if you run for office, it's because you have a vision for change. And if I ever came to that point, that's what would lead [me to run]. And right now I'm happily in a position where I believe I can work to deliver impact and work for change. ~ Sylvia Mathews Burwell
Career Paths quotes by Sylvia Mathews Burwell
And secondly, admit defeat. Socialism (or anarchism) is not going to happen. And there is no national resurgence
of organic community coming our way. There will be no night-watchman state and libertarian utopia where the
public sector is all but removed. There will be no ecological-spiritual awakening spontaneously growing
from the goodness of your heart. And no, Mr. Conservative, there will be no rolling back of gay rights,
bike paths, vegan diets, animal rights and queer perspectives - they are all here to stay and expand. You can give up on all of that nonsense. Those were whispers of another time. Let them die hard. Clear your
head of these hallucinatory fantasies. They are about as meaningful today as belief in ghosts or Jesus walking
across King Herod's swimming pool. ~ Hanzi Freinacht
Career Paths quotes by Hanzi Freinacht
I just want a really varied career, and just to keep going, really. ~ Michelle Dockery
Career Paths quotes by Michelle Dockery
I grew up around acting, but it was never thought of as a career. ~ Troy Garity
Career Paths quotes by Troy Garity
I am very fortunate to have a career. I always have to act. I don't know if I'll have a career to support it for the rest of my life, but I know I'll always act. ~ Lara Flynn Boyle
Career Paths quotes by Lara Flynn Boyle
I haven't had the most lucrative career. If I'm going to be completely honest, I'm a one-hit wonder. ~ Steve Forbert
Career Paths quotes by Steve Forbert
There is no plan ... You need to make smart choices, But you can make career decisions for two different types of reasons.
You can do something for instrumental reasons
because you think it's going to lead to something else, regardless of whether you enjoy it or it's worthwhile ... or you can do something for fundamental reasons
because you think it's inherently valuable, regardless of what it may or may not lead to.
The dirty little secret is that insturmental reasons usually don't work. Things are too complicated, too unpredictable. You never know what' going to happen. So you end up stuck. The most successful people
not all of the time, but most of the time
make decisions for fundamental reasons.
They take a job or join a company because it will let them do interesting work in a cool place
even if they don't know exactly where it will lead. They're not fools. They're enlightened pragmatists. ~ Daniel H. Pink
Career Paths quotes by Daniel H. Pink
I wrote my first rhymes around 8th grade. After serving a year in juvenile detention, I decided to pursue my career as an artist. ~ Yukmouth
Career Paths quotes by Yukmouth
Why to women have to decide between family and career if men don't even think about it? ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Career Paths quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
Well, I was coming off of being on 'Law & Order,' and I was a little worried that it might be the end of my career - I've never been one of those actors with a lot of confidence that the next good job will come along. ~ Jeremy Sisto
Career Paths quotes by Jeremy Sisto
My dad knew that if I wanted to make a career out of it, I needed to go to NASCAR rather than dirt racing. Personally, I like dirt racing a little bit more. It's a little more fun. ~ Tanner Berryhill
Career Paths quotes by Tanner Berryhill
It's perhaps not the future I would choose. I still think it's possible to make a success of both marriage and career even though I didn't. But it's not a bad future. And I'm not afraid of it. ~ Barbara Stanwyck
Career Paths quotes by Barbara Stanwyck
A dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidden appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants. ~ Alexander Hamilton
Career Paths quotes by Alexander Hamilton
I suppose it's the feminist in me, but I didn't always associate modelling with an intelligent career. I used to put myself down for doing it. ~ Daria Werbowy
Career Paths quotes by Daria Werbowy
Surrendered people enjoy life, relish their personal development, and value their friends. They may have an exceptionally good career and be wealthy, but they are more concerned with meaning and fulfillment. The drive to acquire money and power is a behavior that drains people of their passion and emotional connection to others. They can admit when they're wrong. ~ Judith Orloff
Career Paths quotes by Judith Orloff
An entrepreneurial economy is what made America great. People didn't come to settle the country several hundred years ago for all the good paying jobs. There weren't any. There was nothing but natural resources and opportunities. - Chris Lutz, Modular Career Design ~ Chris Lutz
Career Paths quotes by Chris Lutz
I don't want to extend my career for individual records. This is the time to go. ~ Kumar Sangakkara
Career Paths quotes by Kumar Sangakkara
Krebs, who knew some Russian and at one stage in his career had been embraced by Stalin, was "a smooth, surviving type." And so, with almost incredible effrontery, he tried to talk to Chuikov as an equal, opening the conversation with the general comment:
"Today is the first of May, a great holiday for our two nations ... "
With seven million Russian dead, half his country devastated, and fresh evidence mounting daily of the unspeakable barbarity with which the Germans had treated Soviet captives and civilians, Chuikov's answer was a model of restraint, a standing testimony to the cool head and dry wit of that remarkable man. He said:
"We have a great holiday today. How things are with you over there it is less easy to say. ~ Alan Clark
Career Paths quotes by Alan Clark
To become a big movie star like Joan Crawford, you need to wear blinders and pay single-minded attention to your career. Nobody paid attention to me, including me. ~ Evelyn Keyes
Career Paths quotes by Evelyn Keyes
By the time his political career began, he was in command of an artwork of lies elaborate enough to support his smallest need. He could shave the truth by a hair or subvert it altogether. ~ Norman Mailer
Career Paths quotes by Norman Mailer
I have travelled and been pretty much a one man operation for most of my career, and I think it'll continue to be that way. ~ Loudon Wainwright III
Career Paths quotes by Loudon Wainwright III
The dissatisfaction and internal conflict that I had felt throughout my life wasn't due to my husband or my marriage or my career. It was because for the majority of my life I had been trying to be something that I wasn't. I was not true to myself. ~ Louisa Leontiades
Career Paths quotes by Louisa Leontiades
For a startup to overcome obstacles and succeed, it must foster limitless thinking. By hiring students into their first career job, you get to set their framework for how a company functions and instill them with your values for your company's culture. ~ Jay Samit
Career Paths quotes by Jay Samit
Yeah we shine, gold cluster. As for your career? Dead, Ghost Busters. ~ Nicki Minaj
Career Paths quotes by Nicki Minaj
The "norm" for humanity is love.
Brutality is an aberration.
We are not sinners by nature.
We learn to be bad.
We are taught to stray from our good paths.
We are made to be crazy by other people who are also crazy and who draw for us a map of the world which is ugly, negative, fearful, and crazy. ~ Jack D. Forbes
Career Paths quotes by Jack D. Forbes
When you think of Peyton Manning, you think 'ambassador.' The game has grown exponentially during his career because of him and what he means to our game, not only as a football player but as a humanitarian. ~ Larry Fitzgerald
Career Paths quotes by Larry Fitzgerald
I would do a film, make the money, then take off for six months to Europe, India or Russia. My agent told me that I had to stay in town if I ever wanted to build a career, because everyone forgets about you. ~ Craig Sheffer
Career Paths quotes by Craig Sheffer
When you get to the 35-year mark in your career, you make albums for your fans to love you more, so they don't forget about you. ~ Julio Iglesias
Career Paths quotes by Julio Iglesias
Snow is both our best friend and worst enemy. Best friend because it shows us in a concrete form the paths other have taken to get where they are. Worst enemy because it will tell such tales of us if we chance upon it. I find poetry in snow that cannot be resisted. In a way, it is the closest to time travel most civilians will ever manage. ~ Thomm Quackenbush
Career Paths quotes by Thomm Quackenbush
She'd never had feelings about any man that were important enough to be real romantic love. Affection, lust, yes those things. Instants in time with someone that had touched her, yes that too. But she found no one for romance that she could look up to, that was real , an individual that wasn't made up of bits and pieces of clichés, buffeted about on the tide of their wants and the opinions of others, no goal, no point of view that they understood themselves why they held it.

She had researched him when she was assigned to protect him, she told him.
She had not understood in the
beginning.

"You were a man that had it all! Worthy and courageous military action; you grew up, came of age in war. A successful career, status in letters, a full professorship at a prestigious university if you wanted it. Accrued wealth and income enough to live however you wanted. Beautiful women in your life … you do not show the full measure of your years in either looks or fitness.

"You were a full fledged member of the oligarchy, though at a modest level. Yet you threw it all away! You started your novel, became a thorn in the side of the establishment," she told him. "I didn't understand until I read the fragment of manuscript that you had Jean Augereau print out for you. You were on a crusade … totally focused! I saw that you were something special then," she told him, "That's when you began to become very special to me! ~ William C. Samples
Career Paths quotes by William C. Samples
I still have the same hunger like I did 20 years ago but it's a different sort of reflection when you lose. It doesn't hurt you as much because I feel like I've had a good career. ~ Ken Doherty
