The hand that rested on my shoulder rubbed it a bit, comfortingly. Then it gave my shoulder a little squeeze. I leaned into him.

Maybe it was that I was broken. Maybe it was just that I was out of my mind. But it occurred to me that I was going to kiss him. The thought just arrived, certain knowledge, delivered from some greater, more knowledgeable place. I was going to kiss him. Stephen would not want to kiss me. He would back up in horror. And yet, I was still going to do it. I reached over, and put my hand against his chest, then I moved closer. I could feel just the very tips of the gentle stubble on his cheek brushing against my skin.

"Rory," he said. But it was a quiet protest, and it went nowhere.

For the first few seconds, he didn't move-he accepted the kiss like you might accept a spoonful of medicine. Then I heard it, a sigh, like he had finally set down a heavy weight.

I was pretty sure we were both kind of terrified, but I was completely sure that we were both doing this. We kissed slowly, very deliberately, coming together and then pulling apart and looking at each other. Then each kiss got longer, and then it didn't stop. Stephen put his hand just under the edge of my shirt, holding it on the spot where the scar was. Sometimes the skin around the scar got cold-now it was warm. Now it was alive.

"So Thorpe says that-Seriously?"

Callum was in the doorway.

After I finished high school I went to Hong Kong and Thailand and spent some time there. Just to get that whole experience of being out of the bubble that I was in from high school in Vancouver, to be able to travel around and be on your own was an amazing experience. ~ Shay Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Shay Mitchell
I only know that I love you.
That's your misfortune. ~ Margaret Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Margaret Mitchell
I see stereotypes as fundamental and inescapable and not as something that is ... The kind of common view is "Oh, we shouldn't think in stereotypes," and I think the reality is we can't help but think in stereotypes. ~ W. J. T. Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by W. J. T. Mitchell
Southerners can never resist a losing cause. ~ Margaret Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Margaret Mitchell
If Microsoft is the new IBM, Google is the new Microsoft - the defining company of the industry. ~ Mitchell Kapor
Callum Mitchell quotes by Mitchell Kapor
It's hard to salvage jettisoned cargo and, if it is retrieved, it's usually irreparably damaged. And I fear that when you can afford to fish up the honor and virtue and kindness you've thrown overboard, you'll find they have suffered a sea change and not, I fear, into something rich and strange. ~ Margaret Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Margaret Mitchell
Sawing the head off a thunder god with a rusty hacksaw is not easy when you are eleven years old. ~ David Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell
It's starting to catch hold, and in large measure it's because we're starting to understand that much of what we have talked about in ancient mythology and mystical experience and so forth can pretty well be modeled within the world of quantum physics. That's a 20th century phenomenon also. ~ Edgar Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Edgar Mitchell
If you could reason with religious people, there wouldn't be any religious people. ~ David Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell
You are either going forward or you are not. ~ Mitchell Reiss
Callum Mitchell quotes by Mitchell Reiss
Of all the stories our mother told us when we were girls, the story about Lenz and the snowflakes and the sky was our favorite. We were children ourselves; we empathized with a little boy's failure to understand an adult's message. We got why his misapprehension was cute and silly, but we also got why it was wonderful, why this was a glorious way to see the world; not reduced to one of its component colors, but broad and encompassing and mystical, and the whole thing revolving around little old you. ~ Judith Claire Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Judith Claire Mitchell

Callum Mitchell quotes by Joni Mitchell
Tokyo is a model of that serial big-bang theory of the universe. It explodes at five P.M. and people matter is hurled to the suburbs, but by 5 A.M. the people-matter gravity reasserts itself, and everything surges back toward the center, where mass densens for the next explosion. ~ David Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell
People're always buried facing west, so at the end of time when the Last Trumpet blows, all the dead people'll claw their way up and walk due west to the throne of Jesus to be judged ... Suicides, mind, get buried facing north. They won't be able to find Jesus 'cause dead people only walk in straight lines ... Isn't no god better than one who does that to people? ~ David Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell

He had never known such gallantry as the gallantry of Scarlett O'Hara going forth to conquer the world in her mother's velvet curtains and the tail feathers of a rooster. ~ Margaret Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Margaret Mitchell
It's the bully who is insecure. ~ Shay Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Shay Mitchell
As she chattered and laughed and cast quick glances into the house and the yard, her eyes fell on a stranger, standing alone in the hall, staring at her in a cool impertinent way that brought her up sharply with a mingled feeling of feminine pleasure that she had attracted a man and an embarrassed sensation that her dress was too low in the bosom. He looked quite old, at least thirty-five. He was a tall man and powerfully built. Scarlett thought she had never seen such a man with such wide shoulders, so heavy with muscles, almost too heavy for gentility. When her eye caught his, he smiled, showing animal-white teeth below a close-clipped black mustache. He was dark of face, swarthy as a pirate, and his eyes were as bold and black as any pirate's appraising a galleon to be scuttled or a maiden to be ravished. There was a cool recklessness in his face and a cynical humor in his mouth as he smiled at her, and Scarlett caught her breath. She felt that she should be insulted by such a look as was annoyed with herself because she did not feel insulted. She did not know who he could be, but there was undeniably a look of good blood in his dark face. It showed in the thin hawk nose over the full red lips, and high forehead and the wide-set eyes. ~ Margaret Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Margaret Mitchell
In Hollywood, they say good news finds you. ~ Jane Velez-Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Jane Velez-Mitchell
Bill Mitchell said he really liked it. But when he asked the other four their opinions, we all took one look at ourselves in our raggedy long winter coats and cracked up. We knew we weren't likely to tempt anyone or anything, but what the hell, it was as good a name as any. ~ Otis Williams
Callum Mitchell quotes by Otis Williams

Callum Mitchell quotes by Margaret Mitchell

Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell
So I telled her my 'maginin's o' places from old books'n'pics in the school'ry. The xcursion helped dislodge your ... sense of ennui? ~ David Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell
I emerge into a library/study with the highest book population density I have ever come across. Book walls, book towers, book avenues, book side streets. Book spillages, book rubble. Papperback books, hardback books, atlases, manuals, almanacs. Nine lifetimes of books. Enough books to build an igloo to hide in. The room is sentient with books. Mirrors double and cube the books. A Great Wall of China quantity of books. Enough books to makes me wonder if I am a book too. ~ David Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Mitchell
When people would ask me what I was doing, I'd be like, 'It's a horror film.' 'What is it about?' 'You'll just have to see it.' I really didn't want to explain it because it's really tough to explain without it just sounding really ridiculous. ~ David Robert Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by David Robert Mitchell

Depression can be the sand that makes the pearl. Most of my best
work came out of it. ~ Joni Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Joni Mitchell
For the first time, I understood the ancients' need to find explanations for why things happen. It's a quintessential human imperative. Random is not emotionally satisfying. Therefore, lightning was the bolt from an angry god. Crop failure was punishment for failing to honor the gods with a fatted calf. The plague happened because you took the Lord's name in vain or coveted your neighbor's wife. Going to church regularly and praying could forestall illness. And on and on. ~ Alanna Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Alanna Mitchell
My parents told me I'd point to a bed of flowers and say 'Pink. Pretty,' before I knew any other words. ~ Joni Mitchell
Callum Mitchell quotes by Joni Mitchell
