C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Pádraic Ó Conaire
Some recent work by E. Fermi and L. Szilárd, which has been communicated to me in manuscript, leads me to expect that the element uranium may be turned into a new and important source of energy in the immediate future. Certain aspects of the situation seem to call for watchfulness and, if necessary, quick action on the part of the Administration. ...

This new phenomenon would also lead to the construction of bombs, and it is conceivable - though much less certain - that extremely powerful bombs of a new type may thus be constructed. A single bomb of this type, carried by boat or exploded in a port, might well destroy the whole port altogether with some of the surrounding territory. However, such bombs might well prove to be too heavy for transportation by air. ~ Albert Einstein
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Albert Einstein
One of the anarch's emoluments is that he is distinguished for things that he has done on the side or that go against his grain. ~ Ernst Junger
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Ernst Junger
do not take pictures to please the public, the photo should be spontaneous and free ~ Betty Poluk
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Betty Poluk
If commitment is required to start, it is deeply important to persist to reach the end. All the path is done walking, where there are obstacles, go around them, where there are falls, get up, where you feel tired, rest, but never stop until you reach the destination.

Tania Tome (C) ~ Tânia Tomé
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Tânia Tomé
On the land adjoining La Grenouillère strollers were sauntering under the gigantic trees which help to make this part of the island one of the most delightful parks imaginable. Busty women with peroxided hair and nipped-in waists could be seen, made up to the nines with blood red lips and black-kohled eyes. Tightly laced into their garish dresses they trailed in all their vulgar glory over the fresh green grass. They were accompanied by men whose fashion-plate accessories, light gloves, patent-leather boots, canes as slender as threads and absurd monocles made them look like complete idiots. ~ Guy De Maupassant
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Guy De Maupassant
This night is not calm; the equinox still struggles in its storms. The wild rains of the day are abated; the great single cloud disparts and rolls away from heaven, not passing and leaving a sea all sapphire, but tossed buoyant before a continued, long-sounding, high-rushing moonlight tempest. The Moon reigns glorious, glad of the gale, as glad as if she gave herself to his fierce caress with love. No Endymion will watch for his goddess tonight. there are no flocks out on the mountains; and it is well, for to-night she welcomes Aeolus. ~ Charlotte Bronte
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Charlotte Bronte
Every gesture was one of disorder and violence, as if a lioness had come into the room. ~ Anais Nin
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Anais Nin
The TRUTH shall always be your unbeatable weapon.
~ Angelica Hopes, an excerpt from P. B. Y. M. Book 1 of Karmic Harvest Trilogy ~ Angelica Hopes
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Angelica Hopes
Body can't contain the inside hurricane. (Corps ne peut contenir - L'ouragan intérieur) ~ Charles De Leusse
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Charles De Leusse
Every culture has its southerners -- people who work as little as they can, preferring to dance, drink, sing brawl, kill their unfaithful spouses; who have livelier gestures, more lustrous eyes, more colorful garments, more fancifully decorated vehicles, a wonderful sense of rhythm, and charm, charm, charm; unambitious, no, lazy, ignorant, superstitious, uninhibited people, never on time, conspicuously poorer (how could it be otherwise, say the northerners); who for all their poverty and squalor lead enviable lives -- envied, that is, by work-driven, sensually inhibted, less corruptly governed northerners. We are superior to them, say the northerners, clearly superior. We do not shirk our duties or tell lies as a matter of course, we work hard, we are punctual, we keep reliable accounts. But they have more fun than we do ... They caution[ed] themselves as people do who know they are part of a superior culture: we mustn't let ourselves go, mustn't descend to the level of the ... jungle, street, bush, bog, hills, outback (take your pick). For if you start dancing on tables, fanning yourself, feeling sleepy when you pick up a book, developing a sense of rhythm, making love whenever you feel like it -- then you know. The south has got you. ~ Susan Sontag
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Susan Sontag
He looked along the line of children, exhibits A to C of his existence and heirs to the twisted throne of his corrupt genetics. ~ David Louden
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by David Louden
This harsh little man - this pitiless censor - gathers up all your poor scattered sins of vanity, your luckless chiffon of rose- color, your small fringe of a wreath, your small scrap of ribbon, your silly bit of lace, and calls you to account for the lot, and for each item. You are well habituated to be passed by as a shadow in Life's sunshine: it its a new thing to see one testily lifting his hand to screen his eyes, because you tease him with an obtrusive ray. ~ Charlotte Bronte
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Charlotte Bronte
Oersted would never have made his great discovery of the action of galvanic currents on magnets had he stopped in his researches to consider in what manner they could possibly be turned to practical account; and so we would not now be able to boast of the wonders done by the electric telegraphs. Indeed, no great law in Natural Philosophy has ever been discovered for its practical implications, but the instances are innumerable of investigations apparently quite useless in this narrow sense of the word which have led to the most valuable results. ~ William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin
This mountain of a man was learning that his considerable might- which he'd clearly relied on for everything- was futile with her. ~ Kresley Cole
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Kresley Cole
You can see the whole entire world in the eyes of a person who knows how to simply stand there and take all of it into him but then you can look into the eyes of someone else and the whole entire world goes away and all that's left is you. ~ C. JoyBell C.
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by C. JoyBell C.
A great physicist is always a metaphysicist as well; he has a higher concept of his knowledge and his task. ~ Ernst Junger
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Ernst Junger
There are times I almost believe that anything possible to be done should be done, not just because it's good or makes sense, simply because it's possible. ~ Sandor Marai
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Sandor Marai
I don't consider myself to be definite, but in waiting position and eventual appearance ~ Romain Gary
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Romain Gary

C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Mya Robarts
Whereever you go we will share the same sky ~ Y.Odabasi
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Y.Odabasi
Wine and women make wise men dote and forsake God's law and do wrong.
However, the fault is not in the wine, and often not in the woman. The fault is in the one who misuses the wine or the woman or other of God's crations. Even if you get drunk on the wine and through this greed you lapse into lechery, the wine is not to blame but you are, in being unable or unwilling to discipline yourself. And even if you look at a woman and become caught up in her beauty and assent to sin [= adultery; extramarital sex], the woman is not to blame nor is the beauty given her by God to be disparaged: rather, you are to blame for not keeping your heart more clear of wicked thoughts ... If you feel yourself tempted by the sight of a woman, control your gaze better ... You are free to leave her. Nothing constrains you to commit lechery but your own lecherous heart. ~ Anonymous
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Anonymous
I knew that a part of him would never be the same. They cracked more than his ribs. ~ Benjamin Alire Saenz
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Benjamin Alire Saenz
People say she's gone mad, because that's what people who know nothing about loneliness call it. ~ Fredrik Backman
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Fredrik Backman
Being around you was the sweetest torture. I wanted to touch you, hold you, kiss you. I wanted all of you." His shoulders slumped. "But I was afraid of what would happen if I gave in my desire. If I let myself love you. ~ Danielle L. Jensen
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Danielle L. Jensen
Freedom to leave the persecutors are not so worthless. ~ Mehmet Kececi
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Mehmet Kececi
Ophüls's images are perfect crystals. Their facets are oblique mirrors…And the mirrors are not content with reflecting the actual image, but constitute the prism, the lens where the split image constantly runs after itself to connect up with itself…On the track or in the crystal, the imprisoned characters bustle, acting and acted on…Crystalline perfection lets no outside subsist: there is no outside of the mirror or the film set, but only an obverse where the characters who disappear or die go, abandoned by life which thrusts itself back into the film set. ~ Gilles Deleuze
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Gilles Deleuze
Father Nicanor was against a religious ceremony and burial in consecrated ground.
Ursula stood up to him. In a way that neither you nor I can understand, that man was a saint, ~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Melancholia is the disease of the middle-class. The Workers don't know what it means. ~ Chloe Thurlow
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Chloe Thurlow
I believe strongly that philosophy has nothing to do with specialists. ~ Gilles Deleuze
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Gilles Deleuze
Whether it is right or advisable to create beings like Heathcliff, I do not know: I scarcely think it is. ~ Charlotte Bronte
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Charlotte Bronte
I begin with the respect that the anarch shows towards the rules. Respectare as an intensive of respicere means: 'to look back, to think over, to take into account.' These are traffic rules. The anarchist resembles a pedestrian who refuses to acknowledge them and is promptly run down. Even a passport check is disastrous for him.
'I never saw a cheerful end,' as far back as I can look into history. In contrast, I would assume that men who were blessed with happiness – Sulla, for example – were anarchs in disguise. ~ Ernst Junger
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Ernst Junger
Let us show that, if the people abandon the republicans, the republicans do not abandon the people. ~ Victor Hugo
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Victor Hugo
To understand the nature of the people one must be a prince, and to understand the nature of the prince, one must be of the people ~ Niccolo Machiavelli
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Niccolo Machiavelli
One would have called it a luminous wound. ~ Victor Hugo
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Victor Hugo
Listen again. One Evening at the Close
Of Ramazán, ere the better Moon arose,
In that old Potter's Shop I stood alone
With the clay Population round in Rows.

And, strange to tell, among that Earthern Lot
Some could articulate, while others not:
And suddenly one more impatient cried -
"Who is the Potter, pray, and who the Pot? ~ Omar Khayyam
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Omar Khayyam
She felt so old, so worn out, so far away from the best moments of her life that she even yearned for those that she remembered as the worst ... Her heart of compressed ash, which had resisted the most telling blows of daily reality without strain, fell apart with the first waves of nostalgia. The need to feel sad was becoming a vice as the years eroded her. She became human in her solitude. ~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I think you have bits of Primord in your hair...And you look …bloody...You look a mess, Halíka...But you are still the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on. ~ Alexandra May
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Alexandra May
You may believe whatever you want; but the most important thing is to update your belief with the truth, with the science! Your dearest belief might be the biggest buncombe ever! Don't be sad! Continue your road with the new truth! Everything changes! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
He claimed to be an atheist, but he always used religious symbolism ... ~ Walter J. Moore
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Walter J. Moore
You'll be so busy with Bridge and what's-his-name that you'll forget all about your English mate, St. Clair."
"Ha! So you are English!" I poke him in the stomach.
He grabs my hand and we wrestle, laughing. "I claim ... no ... nationality. ~ Stephanie Perkins
C3 B3 Conaire quotes by Stephanie Perkins
The first thing I see when I get home from the hospital after midnight is the glint of the stainless steel oven in the semidarkness of the kitchen. The air smells sweet and eggy. I walk to the oven and pull open the door. Six white ramekins hold six perfect-looking crème caramels, and I wonder if they're safe to eat. It's been more than three hours since I turned off the oven. I remember a Swedish chef telling me years ago when I worked as a prep cook that unrefrigerated food will keep for four hours, but he also cleaned his fingernails with the tip of his chef's knife, so who knows.
I pick up one of the dishes and sniff it. It smells fine. Without taking off my coat, I dig into a drawer for a spoon and eat the crème caramel in five seconds flat. The texture is silky and it tastes sweet and custardy, if not perfect. I pull the rest of the dishes from the oven to put in the fridge, telling myself one was enough. An extra treat at the end of a hard day. I've put three ramekins into the refrigerator when I can't stand it and dig into the second, eating more slowly this time, slipping out of my coat, savoring the custard on my tongue. Two is definitely enough, I'm thinking as I lick the inside of the cup, two is perfect. I'm picking up the remaining cup to put in the fridge but I turn instead, head for the bedroom with ramekin in hand. At least wait until you've gotten undressed and in bed, I told myself, surely you can wait. I make it as far as the doorway and I'm digging m ~ Jennie Shortridge
