Rooke had no idea whether the natives had a word for treachery. His conversations with Tagaran had never traveled in that direction.
Even in English, treachery was a word with a broader reach than it was entitled to. What it boiled down to was that the men in this hut had been taught to fight by certain rules. Not fighting in accordance with those rules was treachery. (in reference to the aboriginals as they fought the English- English method vs. American or connection to - American vs. terrorist). ~ Kate Greenway
Book The Secret quotes by Kate Greenway
If you turn it over to the universe, you will be surprised and dazzled by what is delivered to you. This is where magic and miracles happen. ~ Joe Vitale
Book The Secret quotes by Joe Vitale
What one knows best is ... what one has learned not from books but as a result of books, through the reflections to which they have given rise. ~ Nicolas Chamfort
Book The Secret quotes by Nicolas Chamfort
Now that she was in the secret, now that she knew something that so much concerned her and the eclipse of which had made life resemble an attempt to play whilst with an imperfect pack of cards, the truth of things, their mutual relations, their meaning, and for the most part their horror, rose before her with a kind of architectural vastness. ~ Henry James
Book The Secret quotes by Henry James
I had recently come into the possession of a Thesaurus. You would not believe how many words there are! When I opened that book, I was like, whoa! Word party! ~ The Harvard Lampoon
Book The Secret quotes by The Harvard Lampoon
The Four Inevitabilities: 1. Musty Books. 2. Uninteresting Nature. 3. Dull Existence. 4. Blank Nirvana, buy that boy. ~ Jack Kerouac
Book The Secret quotes by Jack Kerouac
If the book is second-hand, I leave all its markings intact, the spoor of previous readers, fellow-travellers who have recorded their passage by means of scribbled comments, a name on the fly-leaf, a bus ticket to mark a certain page. ~ Alberto Manguel
Book The Secret quotes by Alberto Manguel
I recommend anybody go to a bookstore, go down the self-help or new-age section, and just walk those aisles. See what book jumps out at you; there's a good chance it's a book you need in your life. That's basically how I find the books that I read. ~ Tom Araya
Book The Secret quotes by Tom Araya
I've seen 13, 14-year-olds opening CDs as though they're records from the 1920s, going 'Look at this - there's a little book!' ... That makes me think the format has probably had its day. ~ Jonny Greenwood
Book The Secret quotes by Jonny Greenwood
Out of the corner of his eye Gatsby saw that the blocks of the sidewalks really formed a ladder and mounted to a secret place above the trees - he could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder. ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald
Book The Secret quotes by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Woman: Wow-Man!

A woman is an exclamation mark on the work of creation! When all was said and done, GOD made her - the crescendo of all that was created.

A woman is the solution to the first problem GOD identified in man: loneliness. Loneliness is like sin, in
that it can alter the entire existence of a man - it can reduce a man, full of significance, to absolute nothing. For sin, GOD gave Jesus. For loneliness, GOD gave Woman!

A woman is a multiplier effect. Shewill take any little and make it a great nation. She incubates dreams, broods over them, stretches them and expands them beyond your wildest dreams.

A good woman is a secret weapon. You are better because of her. She increases you just by reason of being there. It's so clearly stated "He who finds a wife - the one who has a woman on his side - finds a good thing and automatically obtains favors from
the Lord.

You must love on her, be sweet to her, care for her, respect her, involve her, honor her, give her room, be patient with her, be good to her, be kind to her and watch your life completely blossom with beauty.

Woman, you are a wonder! Own it, love it, honor it, feel wonderful because of it, walk in beauty because of it, shine brighter because of it. ~ TemitOpe Ibrahim
Book The Secret quotes by TemitOpe Ibrahim
You have everything within you to do great things in this world. Maybe, you are inspired to sing a song, write a book or poems, create art in various forms. Or you may decide to find a cure for disease, end world hunger, prevent abuse, or take a stand politically. The question is how to begin the process of fulfilling your vision. Start where you are and use the resources you have to build from there. Inspiration is what motivates you to achieve your remarkable ideas. Also it takes time and dedication to excel to the next level. ~ Amaka Imani Nkosazana
Book The Secret quotes by Amaka Imani Nkosazana
Her father didn't know the half of her problems. Nobody did. Nobody ever would. She couldn't let anyone find out just how crazy she was, the secret she kept. She would fight her way out of that dark hole somehow. She had to, or it would swallow her for good. ~ Dana Marton
Book The Secret quotes by Dana Marton
Unlike me, Renee was not shy; she was a real people-pleaser. She worried way too much what people thought of her, wore her heart on her sleeve, expected too much from people, and got hurt too easily. She kept other people's secrets like a champ, but told her own too fast. She expected the world not to cheat her and was always surprised when it did. ~ Rob Sheffield
Book The Secret quotes by Rob Sheffield
Ebook readers might cause problems. This has become a controversial topic as more and more people use and love ereaders. A close friend of mine doesn't go anywhere without her Kindle and will probably be buried with it. A Wolf, she was dismayed when I shared the findings of a new Harvard Medical School study:23 reading an ebook in the hour before bed delayed sleep more than reading a print book under normal lamplight, and it also increased sleep inertia the next day. ~ Michael Breus
Book The Secret quotes by Michael Breus
Furthermore, what profit was it to me that I, rascally slave of selfish ambitions that I was, read and understood by myself as many books as I could get concerning the so-called liberal arts? ... I had turned my back to the light and my face to the things it illuminated, and so no light played upon my own face, or on the eyes that perceived them. ~ Augustine Of Hippo
Book The Secret quotes by Augustine Of Hippo
You may translate books of science exactly ... The beauties of poetry cannot be preserved in any language except that in which it was originally written. ~ Samuel Johnson
Book The Secret quotes by Samuel Johnson
There's nothing that makes you so aware of the improvisation of human existence as a song unfinished. Or an old address book. ~ Carson McCullers
Book The Secret quotes by Carson McCullers
He couldn't have known it, but among the original run of The History of Love, at least one copy was destined to change a life.

This particular book was one of the last of the two thousand to be printed, and sat for longer than the rest in a warehouse in the outskirts of Santiago, absorbing the humidity. From there it was finally sent to a bookstore in Buenos Aires. The careless owner hardly noticed it, and for some years it languished on the shelves, acquiring a pattern of mildew across the cover. It was a slim volume, and its position on the shelf wasn't exactly prime: crowded on the left by an overweight biography of a minor actress, and on the right by the once-bestselling novel of an author that everyone had since forgotten, it hardly left its spine visible to even the most rigorous browser. When the store changed owners it fell victim to a massive clearance, and was trucked off to another warehouse, foul, dingy, crawling with daddy longlegs, where it remained in the dark and damp before finally being sent to a small secondhand bookstore not far from the home of the writer Jorge Luis Borges.

The owner took her time unpacking the books she'd bought cheaply and in bulk from the warehouse. One morning, going through the boxes, she discovered the mildewed copy of The History of Love. She'd never heard of it, but the title caught her eye. She put it aside, and during a slow hour in the shop she read the opening chapter, called 'The Age of Silence.'
Nicole Krauss
Book The Secret quotes by Nicole Krauss
I didn't know the comic at all, which is really funny because I grew up here and I had friends who worked at all of the places. Like The Beguiling, which is a store here, and Suspect Video and one of my friends actually worked at Suspect and The Beguiling. So it's kind of crazy that I'd never known the books before. ~ Alison Pill
Book The Secret quotes by Alison Pill
I call the book of Job, apart from all theories about it, one of the grandest things ever written with the pen. ~ Thomas Carlyle
Book The Secret quotes by Thomas Carlyle
I had already drafted the manuscript that would become my first book by the time I graduated from college, but I had no idea what to do with it. ~ Eula Biss
Book The Secret quotes by Eula Biss
No matter how tight the shot is, if I'm narrating it too much, there's a barrier between you and the experience, because the process of reading a book, or watching a movie, or watching a play is that you're watching a dream. ~ Clark Gregg
Book The Secret quotes by Clark Gregg
A new biography of Madonna came out last week, and apparently the biography lists all the men she's slept with. The book is apparently called the Manhattan Telephone Directory. ~ Bill Maher
Book The Secret quotes by Bill Maher
Here is the treasure chest of the world - the public library, or a bookstore. ~ Ben Carson
Book The Secret quotes by Ben Carson
It is all, as usual, paradox. I have to use what intellect I have in order to write books, but I write the kind of books I do in order that I may try to set down glimpses of things that are on the other side of the intellect. We do not go around and discard the intellect, but we must go through and beyond it. ~ Madeleine L'Engle
Book The Secret quotes by Madeleine L'Engle
He took [the book] up, and found himself plunged in an atmosphere unlike any he had ever breathed in books; so warm, so rich, and yet so ineffably tender, that it gave a new and haunting beauty to the most elementary of human passions. ~ Edith Wharton
Book The Secret quotes by Edith Wharton
Aelin Galathynius smiled at her, hand still outreached. "Get up." the princess said.
Celaena reached across the earth between them and brushed her fingers against Aelin's.
And arose. ~ Sarah J. Maas
Book The Secret quotes by Sarah J. Maas
Even the most beautifully written, perfectly edited and well-designed books will fail if people aren't made aware of them!" ––Linda Radke, President of Five Star Publications, on the importance of public relations and marketing. ~ Linda F. Radke
Book The Secret quotes by Linda F. Radke
The secret to winning a woman is calculated neglect. ~ David Benioff
Book The Secret quotes by David Benioff
I want all my books to provoke some kind of response in the reader, to make them think something or feel something or both, and for that to become a part of them and work into their own lives. ~ Linda Sue Park
Book The Secret quotes by Linda Sue Park
Can a literary character be said to live a life from birth to death or otherwise to undergo a development from beginning to end? Or is a literary character-fixed on the pages of a book, trapped forever in the same few words and actions-the very opposite of a living, developing human being? ~ Jack Miles
Book The Secret quotes by Jack Miles
I am such a romantic at heart. I don't think I will ever write a book that doesn't have at lease an underlying love story. There's just something about it that makes me feel alive when I write it. Romance is beautiful. It's sacred. It's messy. It's what keeps the world functioning (and falling apart). But no matter what, it's impossible for me not to write it. ~ Allison J. Kennedy
Book The Secret quotes by Allison J. Kennedy
I would have liked to see where we would have the authority to arrest illegal aliens just by being here illegally and book them into our jails, but that's not going to happen. ~ Joe Arpaio
Book The Secret quotes by Joe Arpaio
A piece of writing is a trap," he said cheerily, "and the best kind. A book, you see, is the only kind of trap that keeps its captive - which is knowledge - alive forever. ~ Tad Williams
Book The Secret quotes by Tad Williams
Acting on desire is more like a craft, a science, an art. It takes careful mindful practice. Be patient and quiet. Listen, observe, take notes. Figure out what you want, privately, and then choose to want it, publicly. Put your desire out in the open. I want to go swimming. I want to bake bread. I want to paint a picture. I want to build a chair. I want to write a book. You act and then you fail. Over and over. And it's better to start failing when you're young, when all you lose is an ice-cream cone or a basketball game or an afternoon of fun. When you're older, the stakes are higher. If adults don't know how to want, then they lose a love, a career, a life. ~ David Barringer
Book The Secret quotes by David Barringer
I should write a serious book on China. If I did that and put in a lot of subtext about love and maybe compared it to the Great Wall or communism or something I could show the parallels between how we are forced to act in society due to cultural mores, versus how we really are, like, behind our own personal Jungian Great Walls. Then people would take my writing seriously like they do with Marni and Tess and that guy who wrote the Great Gatsby. ~ Jesse James Freeman
Book The Secret quotes by Jesse James Freeman
We have lived with the shadow of separation our entire lives. Before we even knew of each other's existence, fate conspired to keep us apart. We've always known it could come to this. ~ Siobhan Davis
Book The Secret quotes by Siobhan Davis
This, the only occasion in the Iliad when furious Achilles smiles serves as a bittersweet reminder of the difference real leadership could have made to the events of the Iliad. Agamemnon's panicked prize-grabbing in Book One and even Nestor's rambling "authority" pale beside Achilles' instinctive and absolute command of himself and the dangers of this occasion. ~ Caroline Alexander
Book The Secret quotes by Caroline Alexander
I tend to celebrate crossing over with a meditative ceremony where I print the book out and neatly stack its pages on the floor. When everything has been properly laid out, I take a few steps back from the work, close my eyes, and offer up my thanks to the writing powers for another bountiful harvest. At which point, I get a running start and dive headlong into my word-pile, rolling around and snorting like a pig. And then I fall asleep for three days. How you celebrate is up to you. But ~ Chris Baty
