Women collect grievances, hold grudges and change shape. They pass hard, legitimate judgments, unlike the purblind guesses of men, fogged with romanticism and ignorance and bias and wish. Women know too much, they can neither be deceived nor trusted. I can understand why men are afraid of them, as they are frequently accused of being. ~ Margaret Atwood
Being Female quotes by Margaret Atwood
A lot of time it is hard to break into the commercial world and that has only to do with money and that has nothing to do with being female or male. ~ Anne Fletcher
Being Female quotes by Anne Fletcher
Matha had never considered that being female would thwart her so, that it would be a hurdle she had to jump every time she wanted to learn something: to read a book, to shout the answers, to make a bomb, to love a man, to fight for freedom. ~ Namwali Serpell
Being Female quotes by Namwali Serpell
How did all that revolutionary talk of the seventies land us in a place where being female means playing dumb and looking good? ~ Claire Messud
Being Female quotes by Claire Messud
Don't all women feel the same? The only difference is how much we know we feel it, how in touch we are with our fury. We're all furies, except the ones who are too damned foolish, and my worry now is that we're brainwashing them from the cradle, and in the end even the ones who are smart will be too damned foolish. What do I mean? I mean the second graders at Appleton Elementary, sometimes the first graders even, and by the time they get to my classroom, to the third grad, they're well and truly gone -- they're full of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry and French manicures and cute outfits and they care how their hair looks! In the third grade. They care more about their hair or their shoes than about galaxies or caterpillars or hieroglyphics. How did all that revolutionary talk of the seventies land us in a place where being female means playing dumb and looking good? Even worse on your tombstone than "dutiful daughter" is "looking good"; everyone used to know that. But we're lost in a world of appearances now. ~ Claire Messud
Being Female quotes by Claire Messud
[On gender-rating by insurance companies:] They say the reason they get to charge more is we have children. I would say having children is a socially useful act. Being female is not a preexisting condition. ~ Gloria Steinem
Being Female quotes by Gloria Steinem
As an Independent, she has no party backing ... Her being the first Independent president trumps the fact that she's a woman. It causes even more upheaval in Washington than her being female. ~ Geena Davis
Being Female quotes by Geena Davis
I don't know anything except being female, so I don't know the opposite of it. ~ Courtney Barnett
Being Female quotes by Courtney Barnett
Being worshiped (for most women) is preferable to being defiled, and being looked up to is better than being walked on. It is hard for women to refuse the worship of what otherwise is despised: being female. Woman's special moral nature has sometimes been used to plead her case: being moral, she will be able to upgrade the morality of the nation if she has the rights of citizenship, the tone of the marketplace if she is employed, the quality of the church if she officiates, the humanism of government if she is in it; being moral, she will be on the side of good. It has also been argued, more loudly and more often, that her moral nature must not be contaminated by vulgar responsibilities; that she has a special moral role to play in making the nation and the world good - she must be in her person the example of good that will civilize and educate men and make the nation moral. One cannot do what men do - not in government, not in the family, not even in religion, not anywhere - and be an example of good. ~ Andrea Dworkin
Being Female quotes by Andrea Dworkin
Although my understanding of exactly how much trouble I was in grew more specific over time, as a child I surely understood enough about my condition to know it was something I'd better keep private. By intuition I was certain that the thing I knew to be true was something others would find both impossible and hilarious. My conviction, by the way, had nothing to do with a desire to be feminine, but it had everything to do with being female. Which is an odd believe for a person born male. It certainly had nothing to do with whether I was attracted to girls or boys. This last point was the one that, years later, would most frequently elude people, including the overeducated smarty-pants who constituted much of my inner circle. But being gay or lesbian is about sexual orientation. Being transgedered is about identity. ~ Jennifer Finney Boylan
Being Female quotes by Jennifer Finney Boylan
Being female was just one more way I felt different and weird. I was also a young 'un, and also my cartoons were not like typical 'New Yorker' cartoons. ~ Roz Chast
Being Female quotes by Roz Chast
I think feeling responsible for stuff that goes wrong is an inherent part of being female. ~ Julie Klausner
Being Female quotes by Julie Klausner
I look young. I heard this said so often that it became irritating. I once worked as a babysitter for a woman who, the first time we met, said she didn't want somebody in high school. I was 22. Later, I realised that in certain places being female and looking 'young' meant it was more difficult to be taken seriously, so I turned to make-up. ~ Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Being Female quotes by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
It's one of the best parts of growing up and growing older, I think, that feeling that you'll just get through one day, and then the next, that a week from Saturday will take care of itself. I couldn't do that when I was younger. I don't know how much of this knowledge grows out of being female and having lived through layers of serial, often contradictory, lives. ~ Anna Quindlen
Being Female quotes by Anna Quindlen
Good-girl-gone-queer Lindsay Lohan, divorced single mother Britney Spears, Caitlyn Jenner with her sultry poses, Kim Kardashian having the gall to show up on the cover of Vogue with her black husband: All of them are tied to the tracks and gleefully run over, less for what they've done than for the threat they pose to the idea that female sexuality fits within a familiar and safe pattern. If control over women's bodies were the sole point of the trainwreck, that would be terrifying enough. But it's only the beginning: Shame and fear are used to police pretty much every aspect of being female. After you've told someone what to do with her body, you need to tell her what to do with her mind. ~ Sady Doyle
Being Female quotes by Sady Doyle
The state of being female is complicated by other categories such as class, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, and so on. ~ Kristen R. Ghodsee
Being Female quotes by Kristen R. Ghodsee
Now that I'd experienced being a woman to a man I was in love with, I'd become self-conscious about being a woman to the world in general. Of course, being female is always indelicate and extreme, like operating heavy machinery. Every woman knows the feeling of being a stack of roving flesh. Sometimes all you've accomplished by the end of the day is to have maneuvered your body through space without grave incident. ~ Hilary Thayer Hamann
Being Female quotes by Hilary Thayer Hamann
In the end, I suspect, being female will do nothing for Sheba, except deny her the grandeur of genuine villainy. ~ Zoe Heller
Being Female quotes by Zoe Heller
Perhaps it is no wonder that the women were first at the Cradle and last at the Cross. They had never known a man like this Man - there never has been another. A prophet and teacher who never nagged at them, never flattered or coaxed or patronized; who never made arch jokes about them, never treated them as "The women, God help us!" or "The ladies, God bless them!"; who rebuked without querulousness and praised without condescension; who took their questions and arguments seriously; who never mapped out their sphere for them, never urged them to be feminine or jeered at them for being female; who had no axe to grind and no uneasy male dignity to defend; who took them as he found them and was completely unselfconscious. There is no act, no sermon, no parable in the whole Gospel that borrows its pungency from female perversity; nobody could guess from the words and deeds of Jesus that there was anything "funny" about woman's nature. Dorothy Day, Catholic social activist and journalist ~ Sarah Bessey
Being Female quotes by Sarah Bessey
Breastfeeding is a beautiful thing, one of the most beautiful things that exist in nature. Think about how a woman can literally feed her baby with her body! In my eyes, this is a certain form of beauty, of divinity! To know that my body can not only form and bring another human being into the world, but that I can actually feed babies with my own milk from my own breasts - that puts me in a state of awe each time I think about it. It is an honour to be a woman. ~ C. JoyBell C.
Being Female quotes by C. JoyBell C.
As Deborah Rhode describes, "When 1,100 Michigan elementary students were asked to describe what life would be like if they were the opposite sex, over 40 percent of the girls saw advantages to being male; they would have better jobs, higher incomes, and more respect. Ninety-five percent of the boys saw no advantage to being female, and a substantial number thought suicide would be preferable." ~ Deborah Rhode
Being Female quotes by Deborah Rhode
You can be killed for just being female ~ JoeAnn Hart
Being Female quotes by JoeAnn Hart
Empowertising not only builds on the idea that any choice is a feminist choice if a self-labeled feminist deems it so, but takes it a little bit further to suggest that being female is in itself something that deserves celebration. ~ Andi Zeisler
Being Female quotes by Andi Zeisler
In regards to being female, I don't really think about it in the same way that other people do. I prefer to focus on my job rather than my gender. I'm still amazed that people think it's a big deal. ~ Rhianna Pratchett
Being Female quotes by Rhianna Pratchett
Make the most of what you have and enjoy being female; enjoy being YOU. ~ Bunny Yeager
Being Female quotes by Bunny Yeager
I believe in women uplifting other women. The only thing that makes our gender weaker, is the fact that we are the gender less likely to stand up for the other. We are the gender more likely to try and make another look bad, and when one of us is already bad, instead of being kind, we pound them into the ditches. And that's what makes us weak, nothing else. If we can change this, we can change the whole structure of our being female, I truly believe this. Personally, I grew up admiring other women and wanting to be friends with them, but unfortunately, I learned the hard way that they were the ones who would hurt me. Women hurt other women all too often, and that's a fact. I'd like to see not just us not hurting one another; but us actually making a conscious effort to be happy for another when she is happy, to hope the best for another when she has better, and to lift another up when she is down. We know that so many of us are harsh, cold and selfish, and we try to protect ourselves from one another, that's the reality. But it's also a reality that what is real can change. So that means we can change it. ~ C. JoyBell C.
Being Female quotes by C. JoyBell C.
My daughters related to something in the Spice Girls that made them feel better about being female. They truly started to believe girls could do anything. They could be fat, thin, anything they wanted to be. ~ Jennifer Saunders
Being Female quotes by Jennifer Saunders
Being female was so hard. Always having to rearrange yourself, to pluck yourself and whittle yourself and deprive yourself and inspect yourself in order to feel comfortable in this world. ~ Laura Kasischke
Being Female quotes by Laura Kasischke
They both possessed a victimhood that had been conferred because they'd both been guilty of being female in a world where some men believed they deserved never to feel powerless. ~ Val McDermid
Being Female quotes by Val McDermid
The excitement that you were feeling about a special, unique path for yourself as a woman is all part of your identification with and attachment to being female. And that's ultimately all ego. ~ Andrew Cohen
Being Female quotes by Andrew Cohen
Men: Stand in solidarity with women. Women, if you were born female, you were born on a battlefield. You will be punished for even saying that out loud, but the grim truth is you're going to be punished no matter what for the 'sin' of being female. Battering is the most commonly committed violent crime in the United States. That's a man beating a woman. Globally, half of all women will experience life-threatening violence from a man. Half. That's more hatred than I can comprehend. Right now, that battlefield is such a slaughter that we can't even collect our wounded. ~ Lierre Keith
Being Female quotes by Lierre Keith
Being a female director become as professional as your male colleagues and forget the whole question about being female. You are female anyway and it is going to work in your favor. The scope of female professional superiority can be understood by so few men that mostly they do not miss it. ~ Pirjo Honkasalo
Being Female quotes by Pirjo Honkasalo
Her sister, Vicky, had explained to her that being female, she had no choice but to be involved in the Battle of the Sexes.[MMT] ~ Nicholas Chong
Being Female quotes by Nicholas Chong
I'm quite happy being male. The notion of being female scares me to death."
"Why?"
"I'd have to put up with men. ~ David Robbins
Being Female quotes by David Robbins
For me, 'I Am Woman' is all about transition. I turned 21 in December, so I'm not completely grown up yet but I'm not a little girl anymore. Just in that in-between stage. The song is everything I have ever heard a woman say. I loved this song for me and every young lady, girl and woman to be able to feel empowered in being female. ~ Jordin Sparks
Being Female quotes by Jordin Sparks
Love is the ultimate state of human being where compassion prevails and kindness rules. ~ Yogi Bhajan
Being Female quotes by Yogi Bhajan
It is through the eyes of youth that everything is constantly being seen anew and rediscovered with the advantage of knowing what has gone before; it is youth that is not mired in the old ways of approaching the challenges of this imperfect world. Each new generation yearns to prove itself - and, in proving itself, to accomplish great things for humanity. Among living creatures, to die and leave the stage is the way of nature - old age is the preparation for departure, the gradual easing out of life that makes its ending more palatable not only for the elderly but for those also to whom they leave the world in trust. ~ Sherwin B. Nuland
Being Female quotes by Sherwin B. Nuland
As it is not a settled question, you must clear your mind of the fancy with
which we all begin as children, that the institutions under which we live,
including our legal ways of distributing income and allowing people to own things, are natural, like the weather. They are not. Because they exist everywhere in our little world, we take it for granted that they have always existed and must always exist, and that they are self-acting. That is a dangerous mistake. They are in fact transient makeshifts; and many of them would not be obeyed, even by well-meaning people, if there were not a policeman within call and a prison within reach. They are being changed continually by Parliament, because we are never satisfied with them.... At the elections some candidates get votes by promising to make new laws or to get rid of old ones, and others by promising to keep things just as they are. This is impossible. Things will not stay as they are.

Changes that nobody ever believed possible take place in a few generations. Children nowadays think that spending nine years in school, oldage and widows' pensions, votes for women, and short-skirted ladies in Parliament or pleading in barristers' wigs in the courts are part of the order of Nature, and always were and ever shall be; but their great-grandmothers would have set down anyone who told them that such things were coming as mad, and anyone who wanted them to come as wicked. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Being Female quotes by George Bernard Shaw
In the midst of the ubiquitous dealings with prostituted signs, the thing-poem was capable of opening up the prospect of returning to credible experiences of meaning. It did this by tying language to the gold standard of what things themselves communicate. Where randomness is disabled, authority should shine forth. ~ Peter Sloterdijk
Being Female quotes by Peter Sloterdijk
What I like doing is being a different person. Every character is kind of different. So being able to be that person and then when you leave you're yourself again. So it's kind of weird to be like two different people, and I think that's kind of fun. ~ Abigail Breslin
Being Female quotes by Abigail Breslin
A person is alive only to the degree that he or she is aware. To make the most of life we must constantly strive to be aware of the importance of being aware. Be aware of your senses and use them: So often we are distracted and unconscious of the riches our senses can pour into our lives. We eat food without tasting it, listen to music without hearing it, smell without experiencing the pungency of odors and the delicacy of perfumes, touch without feeling the grain or texture, and see without appreciating the beauty around us. ~ Wilferd Peterson
Being Female quotes by Wilferd Peterson
In the space of a few, bright years, something new stirred in this land; something unprecedented; something wonderful; and men, being men, perceived it with stunned awe and then, being men, destroyed it without thought, for being new and strange. ~ Jack Whyte
Being Female quotes by Jack Whyte
A piece of cloth that is called "linen" has more validity than calling you and me "black" or "negro." "Cotton" has more validity as cotton than yours and my being "black." ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Being Female quotes by Jamaica Kincaid
I think we never become really and genuinely our entire and honest selves until we are dead
and not then until we have been dead years and years. People ought to start dead, and then they would be honest so much earlier. ~ Mark Twain
Being Female quotes by Mark Twain
You have such strength," she said softly, "but you have never hurt me. I find that remarkable."
"I am very careful not to hurt you," he said, his voice thick.
Rycca nodded. "I appreciate that."
She touched his lean hips and beyond, lightly caressing the hard muscles of his buttocks. He gritted his teeth and swore to himself that he could bear this. She was very close to him now, the thin cloth of her chemise brushing against him.He found that barrier intolerable. Plucking at the fabric, he muttered, "Take it off."
She looked a little surprised, then smiled. "The truth is,I feel safer with it on, a little bolder."
"Little?" He wanted to say more, something about her being any bolder and he would burst, but he couldn't get the words out. Probably because he wasn't breathing very well.
Rycca hesitated but only a moment. With the gracefulness so natural to her, she lifted the chemise over her head and discarded it. In the silvery moonlight, her skin glowed like polished alabaster, pale but for the rosy fullness of her nipples and the fiery curls between her thights. He reached for her urgently, but once again she eluded his grasp.
"Please..." she said again and took his thick wrists in her hands. Drawing them away from her body, she reaised her head and met his eyes. "You can't realize how much I want to..."
"Thor's thunder, lady,do whatever you will before I perish!"
Her eyes widened yet more and a startled laugh broke from her. Then h ~ Josie Litton
Being Female quotes by Josie Litton
People have got to let their bodies breathe a little bit more. That's the great thing about being a pompous, jumped-up rock god. There's plenty of air around you. ~ Robert Plant
Being Female quotes by Robert Plant
We can't say why we search, except that there seems to be an innate need, in each human being, to know who one is, what we're here for, how to live more poetically. ~ William Segal
Being Female quotes by William Segal
I love being around my family. ~ Bryce Harper
Being Female quotes by Bryce Harper
Sometimes I worry I'm not going to be the best parent because if my baby gets a skin fungus I might sell him at a garage sale. ~ Sara Quin
Being Female quotes by Sara Quin
I love being a woman. You can cry. You get to wear pants now. If you're on a boat and it's going to sink, you get to go on the rescue boat first. You get to wear cute clothes. It must be a great thing, or so many men wouldn't be wanting to do it. ~ Gilda Radner
Being Female quotes by Gilda Radner
It's the way some men say, "I'm not the problem" or that they shifted the conversation from actual corpses and victims as well as perpetrators to protecting the comfort level of bystander males. An exasperated woman remarked to me, "What do they want - a cookie for not hitting, raping, or threatening women?" Women are afraid of being raped and murdered all the time and sometimes that's more important to talk about than protecting male comfort levels. Or ~ Rebecca Solnit
Being Female quotes by Rebecca Solnit
The ad does not say "Buy this!"; it says, "Be assured that if you buy and display this product, others are being well trained to feel ugly and inferior in your presence, just as you feel ugly and inferior compared with this goddess. ~ Geoffrey Miller
Being Female quotes by Geoffrey Miller
Being pool-trained, I'm used to seeing four sides and a bottom. When that clarity is removed I get nervous. I imagine things. Sharks, the slippery sides of large fish, shaggy pieces of sunken frigates, dark corroded iron, currents. I can swim along the shore, my usual stroke rolled and tipped by the waves, the ribbed sandy bottom wiggling beneath me, but eventually I get spooked by the open-ended horizon, the cloudy blue thought of that sheer drop-the continental shelf. ~ Leanne Shapton
Being Female quotes by Leanne Shapton
But if you were going to change the chain of events that killed your child, where would you begin? How far back would you go? All the way back to their birth? And how many times had you saved your child's life without even realizing how close you'd just come to disaster, to being one link too late in a chain of events that would wrap around your neck and choke you forever? How close had you come to knowing this place - the place where you collapse on your knees with one fist in your belly and the other clutching a blue GAP bag containing your baby's ruined clothes, the place from which there is no going back? ~ Kelly Kittel
Being Female quotes by Kelly Kittel
10 ways to raise a wild child. Not everyone wants to raise wild, free thinking children. But for those of you who do, here's my tips:

1. Create safe space for them to be outside for a least an hour a day. Preferable barefoot & muddy.

2. Provide them with toys made of natural materials. Silks, wood, wool, etc...Toys that encourage them to use their imagination. If you're looking for ideas, Google: 'Waldorf Toys'. Avoid noisy plastic toys. Yea, maybe they'll learn their alphabet from the talking toys, but at the expense of their own unique thoughts. Plastic toys that talk and iPads in cribs should be illegal. Seriously!

3. Limit screen time. If you think you can manage video game time and your kids will be the rare ones that don't get addicted, then go for it. I'm not that good so we just avoid them completely. There's no cable in our house and no video games. The result is that my kids like being outside cause it's boring inside...hah! Best plan ever! No kid is going to remember that great day of video games or TV. Send them outside!

4. Feed them foods that support life. Fluoride free water, GMO free organic foods, snacks free of harsh preservatives and refined sugars. Good oils that support healthy brain development. Eat to live!

5. Don't helicopter parent. Stay connected and tuned into their needs and safety, but don't hover. Kids like adults need space to roam and explore without the constant voice of an adult ~ Brooke Hampton
Being Female quotes by Brooke Hampton
Little white lies are part of everyday life. If you're in court being charged with a felony, you're probably going to be tempted to lie. Or if your girlfriend asks you if the sweater she is wearing makes her look fat; you're going to lie because you love that person. There are different reasons and justifications to lie; it's human nature. ~ Monica Raymund
Being Female quotes by Monica Raymund
It was a complex chain of oppression in Virginia. The Indians were plundered by white frontiersmen, who were taxed and controlled by the Jamestown elite. And the whole colony was being exploited by England, which bought the colonists' tobacco at prices it dictated and made 100,000 pounds a year for the King. Berkeley himself, returning to England years earlier to protest the English Navigation Acts, which gave English merchants a monopoly of the colonial trade, had said: . . . we cannot but resent, that forty thousand people should be impoverish'd to enrich little more than forty Merchants, who being the only buyers of our Tobacco, give us what they please for it, and after it is here, sell it how they please; and indeed have forty thousand servants in us at cheaper rates, than any other men have slaves. . . . ~ Howard Zinn
Being Female quotes by Howard Zinn
I rather live a rich life being broke, than live a broken life being rich. As long as I have a roof over my head and food in my belly what more can I ask for? ~ Kenneth G. Ortiz
Being Female quotes by Kenneth G. Ortiz
Autumn Dusk
I saw above a sea of hills
A solitary planet shine,
And there was no one, near or far,
to keep the world from being mine. ~ Sara Teasdale
Being Female quotes by Sara Teasdale
The Clintons' geographic meandering is the stuff of political legend. Despite both Clintons being high-flyers in Arkansas, Bill Clinton failed to win the state in both of his presidential election wins in 1992 and 1996. Mrs. Clinton, not being born in, studied in, or lived in New York, was elected U.S. Senator from that state twice. ~ Donald Michaels
Being Female quotes by Donald Michaels
Cat lovers take cover. Believe it or not, in the 15th century, there was a 'sport' involving the swinging of cats (by the tail) into the air where they would become moving targets for archers at fetes, fayres and country festivals. Crowded festivals would be described as having no room to 'swing the cat' as revellers would be in danger of being hit by stray arrows. When ~ Albert Jack
Being Female quotes by Albert Jack
We lost Coop in this very spot not even a year ago, and here we are now - Coop's son being born right where he was lost to us forever. "Full Circle," I murmur, stroking Zac's cheek. ~ Harper Sloan
Being Female quotes by Harper Sloan
I've always prided myself on being myself and trying to stick true to who I am and how I was raised. ~ Patrick Kane
Being Female quotes by Patrick Kane
Golf was my first glimpse of comedy. I was a caddy when I was a kid. I was on the golf course rather than being in lessons, but I can play better now than I could then. ~ Bill Murray
Being Female quotes by Bill Murray
If the Holy Spirit is a person, and a Divine Person, and we do not know Him as such, then we are robbing a Divine Being of the worship and the faith and the love and the surrender to Himself which are His due. ~ R.A. Torrey
Being Female quotes by R.A. Torrey
Nothing of value comes without being earned. ~ Michael Jordan
Being Female quotes by Michael Jordan
A person who sees a problem is a human being; a person who finds a solution is visionary; and the person who goes out and does something about it is an entrepreneur. ~ Naveen Jain
Being Female quotes by Naveen Jain
People like to do what they used to do after they've stopped being able to do it. ~ Paul Newman
Being Female quotes by Paul Newman
Our families raise us with love, they give us better environment, they give us pocket money, they pay our school fee, they buy us good food and clothes, they gives us the identity which no one would ever give us and in return what they want from us is just to live with them, and we being selfish think that all what they gave us was something that we deserved. ~ Neymat Khan
Being Female quotes by Neymat Khan
Being exhausted is much more than being tired. ~ Gilles Deleuze
Being Female quotes by Gilles Deleuze
I grew up in the midst of poverty but every black kid that I knew could read and write. We have to talk about the fact that we cannot educate for critical consciousness if we have a group of people who cannot access Fanon, Cabral, or Audre Lorde because they can't read or write. How did Malcolm X radicalize his consciousness? He did it through books. If you deprive working-class and poor black people of access to reading and writing, you are making them that much farther removed from being a class that can engage in revolutionary resistance. ~ Bell Hooks
Being Female quotes by Bell Hooks
There is nothing you will ever do that is more important than being honest about who you really are. ~ Bryant McGill
Being Female quotes by Bryant McGill
I'm interested in color belonging to something, where it takes on a completely new kind of vibrancy, rather than being what you would call straight abstract paintings. And anyway it is so much more exciting trying to find out about the three dimensions of color and sticking it down on a two dimensional surface. ~ Euan Uglow
Being Female quotes by Euan Uglow
Some mistakes, though, you can't fix by being sorry. Can't fix them, no matter what you do. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Being Female quotes by Brandon Sanderson
Satan doesn't have to create religious opposition and government restrictions to inhibit the kingdom of God from being established among all peoples. If he can just get us to live like the world, indulge the flesh and treat sinful behavior as normative, he has deprived God of His glory and diminished the potential of others receiving the gospel. ~ Jerry Rankin
Being Female quotes by Jerry Rankin
