You are more likely to learn something by finding surprises in your own behavior than by hearing surprising facts about people in general. ~ Daniel Kahneman
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Daniel Kahneman
If we were designed by engineers, as we consumed more, we'd desire less. But our frequent human tragedy is that the more we consume, the hungrier we get. More and faster and stronger. What was an unexpected pleasure yesterday is what we feel entitled to today, and what won't be enough tomorrow. ~ Robert M. Sapolsky
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Robert M. Sapolsky
Understand that relativity is everywhere, and that we view everything through its lens - rose-colored or otherwise. When you meet someone in a different country or city and it seems that you have magical connection, realize that the enchantment might be limited to the surrounding circumstances. ~ Dan Ariely
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Dan Ariely
Life is a delicate dance. We live in a society that governs we all get along. The invisible fine print, the unwritten rules and regulations state that we appease to each other's nature and in doing so, we by nature, seek to please. ~ Katandra Jackson Nunnally
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Katandra Jackson Nunnally
When you get scared, embarrassed, angry, nervous, with full of emotion and bad thoughts, remember to maintain your discipline. It earns you respect the more. ~ Auliq Ice
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Auliq Ice
From communism to capitalism - from judaism to buddhism - from non-dualism to existentialism - people across time and geography have come together, to think, feel and behave as the collective - and they continue to do so. But the point is, this collective behavior, which we can most aptly call "bee-hive behavior", has been a two-edged sword - it has brought along breathtaking accomplishments for the species, but at the same time, it has caused heart-wrenching devastations. ~ Abhijit Naskar
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Abhijit Naskar
I started to read as obsessively about Star Wars as I once did about Kant - and still do about behavioral economics and behavioral psychology. ~ Cass Sunstein
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Cass Sunstein
People tend to raise the child inside of them rather than the child in front of them. ~ Joe Newman
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Joe Newman
If you don't take life seriously,
Life will take you, seriously! ~ Ana Claudia Antunes
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Ana Claudia Antunes
Our thoughts shape how we behave. ~ Bangambiki Habyarimana
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Bangambiki Habyarimana
To say a person with a symptom is behaving in a way that is not of the ordinary implies that there is an ordinary way to behave. ~ Brien Pittman
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Brien Pittman
There, an engaging tour guide told jokes and made witty quips in between sensationalized and brutal stories of inmates "getting what they deserved" because, as she put it, "if you gonna act like an animal, you gonna get treated like one." (We know, thanks to Goffman and pretty much every behavior study out there, that it often works the other way around.) ~ Margee Kerr
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Margee Kerr
Great leaders don't lead others with bitterness or resentfulness of past mistakes, they lead with hope and knowledge of the past to inform greater decision making in the future. ~ Spencer Fraseur
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Spencer Fraseur
Those who have no knowledge are often willing to occupy influential positions with the aim of acquiring every possible benefit. ~ Eraldo Banovac
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Eraldo Banovac
I've got convictions until i've got others. ~ Alain Bremond-Torrent
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Alain Bremond-Torrent
Criminal profiling is the writing process in reverse. Writers create characters and project their actions forwards into a timeline. Profilers are left with the aftermath of an offender's behaviour and must extrapolate backwards to establish their characteristics. ~ Stewart Stafford
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Stewart Stafford
Why should caring for others begin with the self? There is an abundance of rather vague ideas about this issue, which I am sure neuroscience will one day resolve. Let me offer my own "hand waving" explanation by saying that advanced empathy requires both mental mirroring and mental separation. The mirroring allows the sight of another person in a particular emotional state to induce a similar state in us. We literally feel their pain, loss, delight, disgust, etc., through so-called shared representations. Neuroimaging shows that our brains are similarly activated as those of people we identify with. This is an ancient mechanism: It is automatic, starts early in life, and probably characterizes all mammals. But we go beyond this, and this is where mental separation comes in. We parse our own state from the other's. Otherwise, we would be like the toddler who cries when she hears another cry but fails to distinguish her own distress from the other's. How could she care for the other if she can't even tell where her feelings are coming from? In the words of psychologist Daniel Goleman, "Self-absorption kills empathy." The child needs to disentangle herself from the other so as to pinpoint the actual source of her feelings. ~ Frans De Waal
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Frans De Waal
Don't be a set of memorized behaviors ~ Syed Sharukh
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Syed Sharukh
The fastest way for a person to change or more precisely to change their behavioral pattern is to remove the environmental triggers that
support the unwanted behavior. ~ Sasha Tenodi
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Sasha Tenodi
Reciprocal marketing, promotions and links. In public good experiments, behavioral economists have demonstrated that the potential for reciprocal actions by players increases the rate of contribution to the public good, providing evidence for the importance of reciprocity in social situations. ~ Carl William Brown
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Carl William Brown
Remember 50/50 chance of survival is better than no chance. Use your 50% to teach them boundaries, self love and what abuse is. ~ Tracy Malone
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Tracy Malone
There is a saying that, according to what a person's mentality is, even an angel may seem to him to have a devil's face. ~ Idries Shah
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Idries Shah
Like water poured from one vessel to another, metta flows freely, taking the shape of each situation without changing its essence. ~ Sharon Salzberg
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Sharon Salzberg
It is not the issue here wether punctuation of communicational sequence is, in general, good or bad, as it should be immediately obvious that punctuation organizes behavioral events and is therefore vital to ongoing interactions. ~ Paul Watzlawick
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Paul Watzlawick
Putting together philosophy and children would have been difficult for most of history. But very fortunately for me, when I started graduate school there was a real scientific revolution taking place in developmental psychology. ~ Alison Gopnik
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Alison Gopnik
Sometimes," she told me, "a girl will give a guy a blow job at the end of the night because she doesn't want to have sex with him and he expects to be satisfied. So if I want him to leave and I don't want anything to happen . . ." She trailed off, leaving me to imagine the rest.

There was so much to unpack in that short statement: why a young man should expect to be sexually satisfied; why a girl not only isn't outraged, but considers it her obligation to comply; why she doesn't think a blow job constitutes "anything happening"; the pressure young women face in any personal relationship to put others' needs before their own; the potential justification of assault with a chaser of self-blame. "It goes back to girls feeling guilty," Anna said. "If you go to a guy's room and are hooking up with him, you feel bad leaving him without pleasing him in some way. But, you know, it's unfair. I don't think he feels badly for you."

In their research on high school girls and oral sex, April Burns, a professor of psychology at City University of New York, and her colleagues found that girls thought of fellatio kind of like homework: a chore to get done, a skill to master, one on which they expected to be evaluated, possibly publicly. As with schoolwork, they worried about failing or performing poorly - earning the equivalent of low marks. Although they took satisfaction in a task well done, the pleasure they described was never physical, never located in their own b ~ Peggy Orenstein
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Peggy Orenstein
It is not usually our ideas that make us optimists or pessimists, but it is our optimism or pessimism that makes our ideas. ~ Miguel De Unamuno
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Miguel De Unamuno
Without the ability to be present we are missing much of what the adventure has to offer. ~ Allan Lokos
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Allan Lokos
Anyone who wants to know the human psyche will learn next to nothing from experimental psychology. He would be better advised to abandon exact science, put away his scholar's gown, bid farewell to his study, and wander with human heart through the world. ~ Carl Jung
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Carl Jung
Love will heal everything. ~ Austin P.
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Austin P.
Childhood trauma does not come in one single package. ~ Asa Don Brown
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Asa Don Brown
In order to be an executive coach with a thriving practice, you need to have been a leader, be fluent in psychology, and have a evidence-based methodology." My book can't help you with #1, but it can help you with the rest. ~ Nadine Greiner
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Nadine Greiner
We called one's lifestyle a vital lie, and now we can understand better why we said it was vital: it is a necessary and basic dishonesty about oneself and one's whole situation ... We don't want to admit that we are fundamentally dishonest about reality, that we do not really control our own lives. ~ Ernest Becker
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Ernest Becker
I think it's a little simplistic to explain a work through the psychology of its author. In other words, that Haneke has emotional problems, so I don't have to take his films seriously. By using this argument, the viewer retreats from the challenges of the film. ~ Michael Haneke
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Michael Haneke
Fear cripples you. When fear is within you, everything in the environment amplifies the feeling of fear. When in fear, a person experiences sorrow. Everything that one sees evokes fear. ~ Pragya Tiwari
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Pragya Tiwari
As for queueing-up, during the past five or ten years it has become what the psychologists call a conditioned reflex. If you put a dozen English people together, they form themselves into a queue almost instinctively. ~ George Orwell
Behavioral Psychology quotes by George Orwell
Good psychology should include all the methodological techniques, without having loyalty to one method, one idea, or one person. ~ Abraham Maslow
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Abraham Maslow
Back at my teaching and editing jobs I imagined the new world we were trying to create would be enduring and absolutely better than any world we had inherited. For me, if an idea was purported to be new, it looked a lot better than any idea that seemed to be old. Most theologians I knew were trying to discover some new way of looking at the old ideas of God, humanity, sin and salvation. I was there to teach theology, but theology itself was in search of legitimation. What I was really doing might more accurately be described as promoting Rogerian psychology, wealth-distribution, demytholgy and existentialist ethics than studying God. Theology was desperately in search of a method, whether it was borrowed form cutting-edge philosophy, social theory or political life, as long as it didn't begin with revelation. ~ Thomas C. Oden
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Thomas C. Oden
Everything life gives me I can handle with confidence, grace and ease. I have the courage to accept myself, fully and completely. ~ Tracy Malone
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Tracy Malone
One of the best ways to support the development of patience is to cultivate happiness with yourself. ~ Allan Lokos
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Allan Lokos
There is a concept in psychology called 'moral injury,' notion, distinct from the idea of trauma, that relates to the ways in which ex-soldiers make sense of the socially transgressive things they have done during wartime. Price felt a sharp sense of moral injury: she believed that she had been robbed of any ethical justification for her own conduct. ~ Patrick Radden Keefe
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Patrick Radden Keefe
By looking Emma Watson smile pictures you just see different smiles which you even don't realise. One picture with fake smile, trying something but unfortunately it fails. Another, looks like she is saying "Off, off okay... let's make it. But this will be the last you promise??... will ya?"
Other moment look really like me, other she look like something she has planned and waiting you to get there and to get trapped... How much far to go, I just see something as horrible picture a celebrity with available pictures - naked. That's horrible!...
Call it this or this, I don't really give a shit for this peace... - (The stages in Philosophy and Psychology) ~ Deyth Banger
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Deyth Banger
among roses, be a rose, among thorns, be a thorn ~ Idries Shah
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Idries Shah
The same goes for Edward Monkford. Yes, based on what you've told me, it seems Emma was the real narcissist, not him. But there's no doubting he's an extreme controller. What happens when a controller comes up against someone who's out of control? The combination could be explosive. ~ J.P. Delaney
Behavioral Psychology quotes by J.P. Delaney
Sticks and stones can break your bones, but names can kill you. ~ Philip G. Zimbardo
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Philip G. Zimbardo
Christian communication is further impeded by the expectations of a world progressing at a staggering pace in every field of study. It seems as though to deal in spiritual matters, the Christian has to be an authority on every other subject, failing which, he is branded "escapist" or "unrealistic." Thus, science, philosophy, psychology, history, and virtually every other discipline affects religion. In a sense, this ought not to be surprising, because spiritual truth deals with the essence of life. For ~ Ravi Zacharias
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Ravi Zacharias
The natural laws of life is not an idea but the truth that holds life on existence. Once you realize the truth within, all your problems and queries of life, cease to exist. ~ Roshan Sharma
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Roshan Sharma
But you should see the sky tonight.
Screw your astrology apps. Screw your games. Look up sometime. There is a whole wing of positive psychology--my therapist told me--that says the greatest way to affect your outlook on life is to consider what you already have more than what you don't have. And so I might not have a cell phone on me, or a sister at home, or a Dad at all, or a future, but holy shit I have the sky. ~ Tim Federle
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Tim Federle
You must not let your opponent know how you feel. ~ Alexander Kotov
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Alexander Kotov
You can see the rider serving the elephant when people are morally dumbfounded. They have strong gut feelings about what is right and wrong, and they struggle to construct post hoc justifications for those feelings. Even when the servant (reasoning) comes back empty-handed, the master (intuition) doesn't change his judgment. ~ Jonathan Haidt
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Jonathan Haidt
Equity feminism is a moral doctrine about equal treatment that makes no commitments regarding open empirical issues in psychology or biology. ~ Steven Pinker
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Steven Pinker
There is no crime in anyone's blood any more than there is goodness in the blood of others. Criminals are not born. They are made by hunger, want and injustice. ~ Khushwant Singh
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Khushwant Singh
I'd always had an interest in physiotherapy and psychology. ~ Bob Paisley
Behavioral Psychology quotes by Bob Paisley
We are so made that we can derive intense enjoyment only from a contrast and very little from a state of things. ~ Sigmund Freud
