I knew that I had made my last journey in the Empty Quarter and that a phase in my life was ended. Here in the desert I found all that I asked; I knew that I should never find it again. But it was not only this personal sorrow that distressed me. I realized that the Bedu with whom I had lived and traveled, and in whose company I had found contentment, were doomed. Some people maintain that they will be better off when they have exchanged the hardship and poverty of the desert for the security of a materialistic world. This I do not believe. I shall always remember how often I was humbled by those illiterate herdsmen who possessed, in so much greater measure than I, generosity and courage, endurance, patience and lighthearted gallantry. Among no other people have I ever felt the same sense of personal inferiority. ~ Wilfred Thesiger
Bedouin Life quotes by Wilfred Thesiger
I pondered on this desert hospitality and, compared it with our own. I remembered other encampments where I had slept, small tents on which I had happened in the Syrian desert and where I had spent the night. Gaunt men in rags and hungry-looking children had greeted me, and bade me welcome with the sonorous phrases of the desert. Later they had set a great dish before me, rice heaped round a sheep which they had slaughtered, over which my host poured liquid golden butter until it flowed down on to the sand; and when I protested, saying 'Enough! Enough!', had answered that I was a hundred times welcome. Their lavish hospitality had always made me uncomfortable, for I had known that as a result of it they would go hungry for days. Yet when I left them they had almost convinced me that I had done them a kindness by staying with them ~ Wilfred Thesiger
Bedouin Life quotes by Wilfred Thesiger
As I listened I thought once again how precarious was the existence of the Bedu. Their way of life naturally made them fatalists; so much was beyond their control. It was impossible for them to provide for a morrow when everything depended on a chance fall of rain or when raiders, sickness, or any one of a hundred chance happenings might at any time leave them destitute, or end their lives. They did what they could, and no people were more self-reliant, but if things went wrong they accepted their fate without bitterness, and with dignity as the will of God. ~ Wilfred Thesiger
Bedouin Life quotes by Wilfred Thesiger
If life is like a box of chocolates why do I always seem to grab the icky jelly filled ones?! :) ~ Jeffrey Michael
Bedouin Life quotes by Jeffrey Michael
The other person doesn't have to consciously join you in the change. 'Whoever is saner at the time,' says A Course in Miracles, 'is to invite the Holy Spirit into a situation.' It doesn't matter whether or not another person shares our willingness to let God enter. Everything you need in life already exists inside your head. ~ Marianne Williamson
Bedouin Life quotes by Marianne Williamson
In the writings of many contemporary psychics and mystics (e.g., Gopi Krishna, Shri Rajneesh, Frannie Steiger, John White, Hal Lindsay, and several dozen others whose names I have mercifully forgotten) there is a repeated prediction that the Earth is about to be afflicted with unprecedented calamities, including every possible type of natural catastrophe from Earthquakes to pole shifts. Most of humanity will be destroyed, these seers inform us cheerfully. This cataclysm is referred to, by many of them, as "the Great Purification" or "the Great Cleansing," and is supposed to be a punishment for our sins.

I find the morality and theology of this Doomsday Brigade highly questionable. A large part of the Native American population was exterminated in the 19th century; I cannot regard that as a "Great Cleansing" or believe that the Indians were being punished for their sins. Nor can I think of Hitler's death camps, or Hiroshima or Nagasaki, as "Great Purifications." And I can't make myself believe that the millions killed by plagues, cancers, natural catastrophes, etc., throughout history were all singled out by some Cosmic Intelligence for punishment, while the survivors were preserved due to their virtues. To accept the idea of "God" implicit in such views is logically to hold that everybody hit by a car deserved it, and we should not try to get him to a hospital and save his life, since "God" wants him dead.

I don't know who are the worst sinners on this p ~ Robert Anton Wilson
Bedouin Life quotes by Robert Anton Wilson
I had tried years earlier to kill myself, and nearly died in the attempt, but did not consider it either a selfish or a not-selfish thing to have done. It was simply the end of what I could bear, the last afternoon of having to imagine waking up the next morning only to start all over again with a thick mind and black imaginings. It was the final outcome of a bad disease, a disease it seemed to me I would never get the better of. No amount of love from or for other people0and there was a lot-could help. No advantage of a caring family and fabulous job was enough to overcome the pain and hopelessness I felt; no passionate or romantic love, however strong, could make a difference. Nothing alive and warm could make its way in through my carapace. I knew my life to be a shambles, and I believed-incontestably-that my family, friends, and patients would be better off without me. There wasn't much of me left anymore, anyway, and I thought my death would free up the wasted energies and well-meant efforts that were being wasted on my behalf. (290) ~ Kay Redfield Jamison
Bedouin Life quotes by Kay Redfield Jamison
Practically speaking, when I mix up my roles at any given stage of life with my ultimate identity, I end up in idolatry. ~ Wendy Alsup
Bedouin Life quotes by Wendy Alsup
Teachers have to respect the privacy of students' creative life, but at the same time give them a chance to express themselves. ~ Jan Brett
Bedouin Life quotes by Jan Brett
Should doesn't belong in a relationship. It supposes one person's will is more right than the other's. That is just not true. Stray from should. ~ Vaun Murphrey
Bedouin Life quotes by Vaun Murphrey
I want to have fun. Life ain't no dress rehearsal. I want to have fun. I'm a comedian; I ain't no politician. So everything I do is with humor, with love. ~ Bernie Mac
Bedouin Life quotes by Bernie Mac
Life passes by now like the scenery outside a car window. I breathe and eat and sleep as I always did, but there seems to be no great purpose in my life that requires active participation on my part ... I do not know where I am going or when I will get there. ~ Nicholas Sparks
Bedouin Life quotes by Nicholas Sparks
Q. What is your view of the daily discipline of the Christian life - the need for taking time to be alone with God?
Lewis: We have our New Testament regimental orders upon the subject. I would take it for granted that everyone who becomes a Christian would undertake this practice. It is enjoined upon us by Our Lord; and since they are his commands, I believe in following them. It is always just possible that Jesus Christ meant what he said when He told us to seek the secret place and to close the door. ~ C.S. Lewis
Bedouin Life quotes by C.S. Lewis
Loneliness gives you opportunity to look the beauty of out of window ~ Arya Vidhan
Bedouin Life quotes by Arya Vidhan
You're the one person in my life who wants nothing but me and it's terrifying and awesome at the same time. Don't ever leave me. I love you. You're my heart. ~ Erin Watt
Bedouin Life quotes by Erin Watt
How much kindness have I shown Him in the past week? Has my life been a good reflection on His reputation? God is saying ~ Oswald Chambers
Bedouin Life quotes by Oswald Chambers
Love is the castle, doubt is the moat, desire is the paddle and hope is the boat. ~ Kellie Elmore
Bedouin Life quotes by Kellie Elmore
Everyone looks me and says, 'I'm not going to let that Asian kid embarrass me. I'm going to go at him.' That's how it's been my whole life. ~ Jeremy Lin
Bedouin Life quotes by Jeremy Lin
Let us be the change that we want to see in the world. Let us be the light that we want to see in the world. The time to make this world a better place is now! ~ Avijeet Das
Bedouin Life quotes by Avijeet Das
Success comes in a lot of ways, but it doesn't come with money and it doesn't come with fame. It comes from having a meaning in your life, doing what you love and being passionate
about what you do. That's having a life of success. When you have the ability to do what you love, love what you do and have the ability to impact people. That's having a life of success. That's what having a life of meaning is. ~ Tim Tebow
Bedouin Life quotes by Tim Tebow
Winnie trusted in the possibility of redemption. Life would not end in an apoplectic implosion of frustrated desires, foiled schemes, and defeated dreams, but rather in revealed glory. ~ David Rhodes
Bedouin Life quotes by David Rhodes
What then are the benefits of being mentally flexible? Imagine a storm brewing. Intense winds are blowing hard. Stiff trees are breaking under the pressure while softer more flexible trees are bending and will rise again when the strong winds subside. Now turn this image onto human beings. People who are narrow minded, opinionated, stubborn and bullheaded are more likely to crack under pressure than people who take up a more flexible attitude towards life. It is the difference between bending and breaking under pressure. ~ Gudjon Bergmann
Bedouin Life quotes by Gudjon Bergmann
Life is so magnificent! How can I grow old? ~ Debasish Mridha
Bedouin Life quotes by Debasish Mridha
Ontario's gas tax rebates and infrastructure programs help create sustainable transit to improve quality of life for Ottawa residents with significant environmental benefits. ~ Bob Chiarelli
Bedouin Life quotes by Bob Chiarelli
One day you're going to let me love you, and I'm going to hold you so tight I'll never let you go. I'm going to love you as if it were the one thing I was meant to do. As if it were my purpose in life. Don't you see it, Blaire? Don't you get it? You're in me. In everything I see. In everything I touch. You're in the air I breathe, in the water I drink, and in every dream I dream. I want to tell you so much more, but I know that you're not ready to hear it. ~ Mia Asher
Bedouin Life quotes by Mia Asher
Perhaps as he was lying awake then, his life may have passed before him
his early hopeful struggles, his manly successes and prosperity, his downfall in his declining years, and his present helpless condition
no chance of revenge against Fortune, which had had the better of him
neither name nor money to bequeath
a spent-out, bootless life of defeat and disappointment, and the end here! Which, I wonder, brother reader, is the better lot, to die prosperous and famous, or poor and disappointed? To have, and to be forced to yield; or to sink out of life, having played and lost the game? That must be a strange feeling, when a day of our life comes and we say, To-morrow, success or failure won't matter much, and the sun will rise, and all the myriads of mankind go to their work or their pleasure as usual, but I shall be out of the turmoil. ~ William Makepeace Thackeray
Bedouin Life quotes by William Makepeace Thackeray
And I say, the meaning of life is what you make it. There will be as many different meaningful lives as there are people to live them. ~ A.C. Grayling
Bedouin Life quotes by A.C. Grayling
Prayer, speaking to the Creator. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Bedouin Life quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
I never thought of life as a dance, but I guess it made sense. Your dance is unique. It's yours and yours alone. Your feet are never still, always finding a different path and it's that path that takes you anywhere. You're always searching, finding a song that claims your soul. Once you find it, you revel in it until it is your turn to take your final bow. ~ Nicole Gulla
Bedouin Life quotes by Nicole Gulla
I think I'll work all my life. When you're having fun, why stop having fun? ~ Helen Thomas
Bedouin Life quotes by Helen Thomas
The dance of life finds its beginnings in grief ... Here a completely new way of living is revealed. It is the way in which pain can be embraced, not out of a desire to suffer, but in the knowledge that something new will be born in the pain. ~ Henri Nouwen
Bedouin Life quotes by Henri Nouwen
Death is most terrifying to those who have yet to live. ~ Dan Pearce
Bedouin Life quotes by Dan Pearce
Some of most valuable gifts come wrapped in the ugliest paper. ~ Navonne Johns
Bedouin Life quotes by Navonne Johns
Thaddeus knew again what it felt like to be living a life that was totally out of control. Which is something a cancer diagnosis can do in an eye blink. You don't know what it means, you're threatened and scared to death, and you lack all the information you'll need to try to pull yourself ~ John Ellsworth
Bedouin Life quotes by John Ellsworth
In the throes of heartache and grief, I had felt stuck in the awkwardness of not knowing quite how to move forward, I felt bound to the ditch for so long, unable to see what it looked like from above. At times it felt like I'd never get out, and I got used to the constant tripping and stumbling around. It didn't feel like life should be, but it was how my life was. I accepted it.

But over time, I strengthened into a different version of myself. I had new muscles, a new way of moving in the world. ~ Mari Andrew
Bedouin Life quotes by Mari Andrew
Unconscious of your story, you are in its grasp; but with consciousness, an alchemical process begins: The solidity of the complex dissolves and you can open up to the arrival of a new archetype, the birth of a new cycle of life. In the shadow, then, lies our myth and our fate. ~ Connie Zweig
Bedouin Life quotes by Connie Zweig
My life has been enriched by excellent human relations, work and interests. I have never felt lonely. ~ Rita Levi-Montalcini
Bedouin Life quotes by Rita Levi-Montalcini
Devotion does not mean only Chanting praise and singing glory of God, nor fasting and offerings made to God. Devotion is a specific attitude towards life and existence. ~ Pandurang Shastri Athavale
Bedouin Life quotes by Pandurang Shastri Athavale
Not just personal unhappiness but all strife in life, including war, is the result of an over-emphasis on temporary things; money, power and material possession ~ Robert S. Jepson, Jr.
Bedouin Life quotes by Robert S. Jepson, Jr.
People who get trapped in the tunnel vision of making money think that is all there is to life. ~ Felix Dennis
Bedouin Life quotes by Felix Dennis
I won't tell him. I won't tell him that in my whole life, no one have ever made my heart beat like he does. It hurts too much to say this.
- Ritsu Oonodera - (Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi) ~ Shungiku Nakamura
Bedouin Life quotes by Shungiku Nakamura
I believe that the mindset that allows you to spend your working life thanking and congratulating people rather than being unpleasant to them is the mainstay of good leadership. ~ Tim Waterstone
Bedouin Life quotes by Tim Waterstone
You are here to evolve and make your consciousness high. You are here to dance, sing and celebrate life. You are here to help others to make their life happy. We are here not to compete, but to learn, evolve and excel. We are not here to make divisions in the name of prophets and religions. We are here to encompass the world with love and light. ~ Amit Ray
Bedouin Life quotes by Amit Ray
The atypically depressed are more likely to be the walking wounded, people like me who are quite functional, whose lives proceed almost as usual, except that their depressed all the time, almost constantly embroiled in thoughts of suicide even as they go through their paces. Atypical depression is not just a mild malaise...but one that is quite severe and yet still somehow allows an appearance of normalcy because it becomes, over time, a part of life. The trouble is that as the years pass, if untreated, atypical depression gets worse and worse, and its sufferers are likely to commit suicide out of sheer frustration with living a life that is simultaneously productive and clouded by constant despair. It is the cognitive dissonance that is deadly. Because atypical depression doesn't have a peak- or, more accurately, a nadir, like normal depression, because it follows no logical curve but instead accumulates over time, it an drive its victim to dismal despair so suddenly that one might not have bothered to attend to treatment until the patient has already, and seemingly very abruptly, committed suicide. ~ Elizabeth Wurtzel
Bedouin Life quotes by Elizabeth Wurtzel
Stop and consider! life is but a day; A fragile dew-drop on its perilous way From a tree's summit. ~ John Keats
Bedouin Life quotes by John Keats
I think modern medicine has become like a prophet offering a life free of pain. It is nonsense. The only thing I know that truly heals people is unconditional love. ~ Elisabeth Kubler Ross
Bedouin Life quotes by Elisabeth Kubler Ross
I always say God doesn't need me, but I need Him in my life to survive in this world and over temptation. That's Who keeps me humble every time. ~ Albert Pujols
Bedouin Life quotes by Albert Pujols
In strategy your spiritual bearing must not be any different from normal. Both in fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the situation without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased. ~ Miyamoto Musashi
Bedouin Life quotes by Miyamoto Musashi
Maturity meant thinking about risk long before you pondered the reward, and that success and happiness in life were as much about avoiding mistakes as making your mark into the world. ~ Nicholas Sparks
Bedouin Life quotes by Nicholas Sparks
