Politicians are propaganda, the people with guns are the enforcers and the media is the enthusiastic lapdog who enables the entire behavior and acts as the verbal abuser against those who deviate from nodding their heads at the vast statues of evil that we inherited. ~ Stefan Molyneux
Beauline Media quotes by Stefan Molyneux
They say it's the responsibility of the media to look at government - especially the President - with a microscope. I don't argue with that, but when they use a proctoscope, it's going too far. ~ Richard M. Nixon
Beauline Media quotes by Richard M. Nixon
People have to be atomized and segregated and alone. They're not supposed to organize, because then they might be something beyond spectators of action. They might actually be participants if many people with limited resources could get together to enter the political arena. That's really threatening. ~ Noam Chomsky
Beauline Media quotes by Noam Chomsky
We see cancer patients battling death as valiant, and we think that if they try hard enough, they'll beat it. In truth, cancer is an equal-opportunity killer and is impervious to moral virtues and emotional strength. No amount of courage increases a patient's likelihood of survival. For every courageous patient who survives, there is another courageous patient who does not. Of course you'd never know that from popular media, where patients wage battle against cancer and win, and where almost everyone survives CPR and looks remarkably good hooked up to a breathing machine. ~ Bloomsbury Publishing
Beauline Media quotes by Bloomsbury Publishing
Those who occupy managerial positions in the media, or gain status within them as commentators, belong to the same privileged elites, and might be expected to share the perceptions, aspirations, and attitudes of their associates, reflecting their own class interests as well. Journalists entering the system are unlikely to make their way unless they conform to these ideological pressures, generally by internalizing the values; it is not easy to say one thing and believe another, and those who fail to conform will tend to be weeded out by familiar mechanisms. ~ Noam Chomsky
Beauline Media quotes by Noam Chomsky
The media thinks that only the cutting edge of science, the very latest controversies, are worth reporting on. How often do you see headlines like 'General Relativity still governing planetary orbits' or 'Phlogiston theory remains false'? By the time anything is solid science, it is no longer a breaking headline. ~ Eliezer Yudkowsky
Beauline Media quotes by Eliezer Yudkowsky
Why should propaganda be the exclusive preserve of the Western media? Just because they do it better? ~ Arundhati Roy
Beauline Media quotes by Arundhati Roy
I confess ... if I typo a Facebook post I will edit it. I know it's only Facebook but it's an editing sickness. ~ Michelle M. Pillow
Beauline Media quotes by Michelle M. Pillow
I do think there is a strange idea that the media has that if you tell the public what you think, they can no longer think for themselves. ~ Ryan Grim
Beauline Media quotes by Ryan Grim
I want to thank all of the fans and media who made playing in the NFL such a wonderful experience. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of them. ~ Barry Sanders
Beauline Media quotes by Barry Sanders
What I've started to realize is that social media is not just technology - it's become its own entity, full of energy waves. These energy waves could be a Tweet about something you are furious about, like the Keystone Pipeline, or a piece of legislation. Instantly, energy surrounds and adds traction, influence, making it come alive ~ Ian Somerhalder
Beauline Media quotes by Ian Somerhalder
The dark side of social media is that, within seconds, anything can be blown out of proportion and taken out of context. And it's very difficult not to get swept up in it all. ~ Nicola Formichetti
Beauline Media quotes by Nicola Formichetti
While I was still going to embrace social media, I knew I had to do things that nobody else was doing. I decided I had to meet as many people as I could - face to face. While most artists would email galleries, I would show up in the lobby. Instead of liking an art show or exhibition, I would go there and meet everyone. And while most would send a magazine a press kit, I go and meet the editor. This notion of face to face contact became my mantra. ~ Mark Edward
Beauline Media quotes by Mark Edward
I'm a false icon! The media collaborate in promoting my superficial lifestyle as somehow more valid, more worthy of attention than your real lives! - Gideon Stargrave ~ Grant Morrison
Beauline Media quotes by Grant Morrison
There are only two types of content of any value online: conversation, and the things about which the conversation takes place. Stop making Electric Age media - start doing Digital Age stuff. Stop making records, start having conversations. ~ Anonymous
Beauline Media quotes by Anonymous
Somewhere along the line, many Americans relegated the media to a notch on the morality scale only slightly above that of child molesters. ~ Gregory Kane
Beauline Media quotes by Gregory Kane
The network made me join Twitter. I am very scared of social media, and I don't know how to use it, so it's kind of trial and error. ~ Jay Ryan
Beauline Media quotes by Jay Ryan
Jackass millionaires, hey, hey, Hollywood, here we come. ~ Brad Paisley
Beauline Media quotes by Brad Paisley
You could say that Facebook is doing a far more effective job than religion at teaching us to 'love thy neighbor,' connecting us with random strangers and 'friends' from distant lands. ~ Gemini Adams
Beauline Media quotes by Gemini Adams
[Do you know] how it feels to be a clownish character? It's always complicated to imagine conveying yourself outside of your body. Inside myself I feel like this rich, complicated thing, and then I see representations of myself, especially in the media - and I think this is why it's troubling for me, because I feel so caricatured and flattened. ~ Kalan Sherrard
Beauline Media quotes by Kalan Sherrard
Vigorous independent and critical media are indispensable in a democracy. ~ Geoff Mulgan
Beauline Media quotes by Geoff Mulgan
It's going to be interesting to watch presidential elections in around 2040, when voters can dig up candidates' teenage angst pics and posts from old social media and discussion forum archives. ~ Mikko Hypponen
Beauline Media quotes by Mikko Hypponen
I absolutely want and prize and love and revere every single media review I get, but if I got 50 reviews from major newspapers and one review from Amazon, I still would feel a little weird: 'What's going on? Why aren't people responding?' ~ Caroline Leavitt
Beauline Media quotes by Caroline Leavitt
I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years. ~ Gemma Ward
Beauline Media quotes by Gemma Ward
It became very clear to me that Yooralla was not as interested in media coverage that explored issues faced by people with disability as it was in giving a pat on the back to journalists who maintained the status quo by giving readers the warm and fuzzies over their morning paper. ~ Stella Young
Beauline Media quotes by Stella Young
I write what I like to read, and I enjoy love triangles in YA and adult fiction - not to mention in other media like TV, opera, theatre, and even in video games! I relish when dark and compelling characters compete for our protagonist's heart. The doubts, the uncertainty - the jealousy! - can be breathtaking. ~ Kresley Cole
Beauline Media quotes by Kresley Cole
I tell kids, don't trust the media. The media with their emphasis on fame is helping to destroy this country, helping destroy the human race. It's the plug-in drug. ~ Pete Seeger
Beauline Media quotes by Pete Seeger
As the mainstream media has become increasingly dependent on advertising revenues for support, it has become an anti-democratic force in society. ~ Robert McChesney
Beauline Media quotes by Robert McChesney
It s amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world every day always just exactly fits the newspaper. ~ Jerry Seinfeld
Beauline Media quotes by Jerry Seinfeld
At the very same time that we witnessed the explosion of white celebrity moms, and the outpouring of advice to a surveillance of middle-class mothers, the welfare mother, trapped in a "cycle of dependency," became ubiquitous in our media landscape, and she came to represent everything wrong with America. She appeared not in the glossy pages of the women's magazines but rather as the subject of news stories about the "crisis" in the American family and the newly declared "war" on welfare mothers. Whatever ailed America--drugs, crime, loss of productivity--was supposedly her fault. She was portrayed as thumbing her nose at intensive mothering. Even worse, she was depicted as bringing her kids into the realm of market values, as putting a price on their heads, by allegedly calculating how much each additional child was worth and then getting pregnant to cash in on them. For middle-class white women in the media, by contrast, their kids were priceless, these media depictions reinforced the divisions between "us" (minivan moms) and "them" (welfare mothers, working-class mothers, teenage mothers), and did so especially along the lines of race. For example, one of the most common sentences used to characterize the welfare mother was, "Tanya, who has_____ children by ______ different men" (you fill in the blanks). Like zoo animals, their lives were reduced to the numbers of successful impregnations by multiple partners. So it's interesting to note that someone like Christie Brinkley, ~ Susan J. Douglas
Beauline Media quotes by Susan J. Douglas
The tribalizing power of the new electronic media, the way in which they return to us to the unified fields of the old oral cultures, to tribal cohesion and pre-individualist patterns of thought, is little understood. Tribalism is the sense of the deep bond of family, the closed society as the norm of community. ~ Marshall McLuhan
Beauline Media quotes by Marshall McLuhan
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Except for tattoos and STDs. ~ D.D. Barant
