You always dream about being on a baseball card. It's kind of funny when you finally see it. ~ Alex Rodriguez
Baseball Cards quotes by Alex Rodriguez
Let's take the focus off "fat" and put it on health. Let's take the focus off "skinny" and put it on good common sense. Let's take the focus off body image and put it on education, women's rights, human rights, the economy, baseball cards, anything. ~ Wendy Shanker
Baseball Cards quotes by Wendy Shanker
I can buy baseball cards to view an entire career on the back of a little square of cardboard. But nobody sells major league father cards with key statistics on the back ("Had a great season in 2005: set career highs in unforced expressions of affection and averaged 87 minutes of quality time per day.") ~ John Ortberg Jr.
Baseball Cards quotes by John Ortberg Jr.
Each kid got a small allowance for helping with the harvests, and Kiernan would always head straight to the tobacco shop. Not for cigarettes. At first, he even threw the cigarettes away, but later he'd save them and sell them to the older kids to get enough money for another pack.
Kiernan didn't want the smokes. He wanted the baseball cards.
When we got back to the Farm, Kiernan would sketch out a baseball diamond in the dirt and we'd stage games with the players from the cards he collected. ~ Rysa Walker
Baseball Cards quotes by Rysa Walker
I started collecting baseball cards and basketball cards when I was younger. I have a CD collection that turned into a DVD collection, and I have a Jordan shoe collection. And I don't drink, but I have a wine collection. I just started a sweatshirt collection. Every city that I'm in, I buy a sweatshirt. It's just something that I do. ~ Marques Houston
Baseball Cards quotes by Marques Houston
President Bush left for Canada today to attend a trade summit. Reportedly, the trade summit got off to an awkward start when the president pulled out his baseball cards. ~ Conan O'Brien
Baseball Cards quotes by Conan O'Brien
I didn't really grow up a comic book fanatic. I was a big baseball player, and my passion in life, in third grade, was collecting baseball cards. That was my childhood thing. ~ Alan Ritchson
Baseball Cards quotes by Alan Ritchson
I rarely think the market is right. I believe non dividend stocks aren't much more than baseball cards. They are worth what you can convince someone to pay for it. ~ Mark Cuban
Baseball Cards quotes by Mark Cuban
The positive psychology field has taught us about the benefits of optimism and happiness. One study correlated the life spans of Major League Baseball players with their smiles. In 2010, researchers Ernest Abel and Michael Kruger analyzed 230 baseball cards from 1952, a time when cards featured athletes looking straight at the camera. The results will make you want to smile.
* Players not smiling had an average life span of 72.9 years.
* Players partially smiling had an average life span of 75.0 years.
* Players with a full smile had an average life span of 79.9 years. ~ Jim Afremow
Baseball Cards quotes by Jim Afremow
Did I collect baseball cards? I've got 10 books full of plastic in my mother's house. All the Upper Decks, the Fleers, the Fleer Ultras. My grandfather brought me to the trade shows. I collected Marvel cards, too. ~ Action Bronson
Baseball Cards quotes by Action Bronson
At Sea Oak there's no sea and no oak, just a hundred subsidized apartments and a rear view of FedEx. Min and Jade are feeding their babies while watching How My Child Died Violently. Min's my sister. Jade's our cousin. How My Child Died Violently is hosted by Matt Merton, a six-foot-five blond who's always giving the parents shoulder rubs and telling them they've been sainted by pain. Today's show features a ten-year-old who killed a five-year-old for refusing to join his gang. The ten-year-old strangled the five-year-old with a jump rope, filled his mouth with baseball cards, then locked himself in the bathroom and wouldn't come out until his parents agreed to take him to FunTimeZone, where he confessed, then dove screaming into a mesh cage full of plastic balls. The audience is shrieking threats at the parents of the killer while the parents of the victim urge restraint and forgiveness to such an extent that finally the audience starts shrieking threats at them too. Then it's a commercial. ~ George Saunders
Baseball Cards quotes by George Saunders
We all used to collect baseball cards that came with bubble gum. You could never get the smell of gum off your cards, but you kept your Yankees cards pristine. ~ Penny Marshall
Baseball Cards quotes by Penny Marshall
Spanish pilgrims travel on Camino de Santiago from monastery to monastery, collecting small medals to attach to their rosary as proof of their steps. I have stacks of Polaroids, each marking my own, that I sometimes spread out like tarots or baseball cards of an imagined celestial team. ~ Patti Smith
Baseball Cards quotes by Patti Smith
Drunk on sports all over again, just like a seven-year old in New Jersey whose mom has just bought him two packs of baseball cards for ten cents. ~ Tim Cowlishaw
Baseball Cards quotes by Tim Cowlishaw
Bitcoin, in the short or even long term, may turn out be a good investment in the same way that anything that is rare can be considered valuable. Like baseball cards. Or a Picasso. ~ Andrew Ross Sorkin
Baseball Cards quotes by Andrew Ross Sorkin
Imagine if you had baseball cards that showed all the performance stats for your people: batting averages, home runs, errors, ERAs, win/loss records. You could see what they did well and poorly and call on the right people to play the right positions in a very transparent way. ~ Ray Dalio
Baseball Cards quotes by Ray Dalio
Every year I collect a select amount of material possessions (baseball cards, coins, famous paraphernalia) to pass on to my children. In two or more generations they should have a small fortune of 'ancient' famous items. ~ Akutra-Ramses Atenosis Cea
Baseball Cards quotes by Akutra-Ramses Atenosis Cea
Sure, there are good things, lots, sure, blow jobs, chocolate mousse, winning streaks, the warm fire in your enemy's house, good book, hunk of cheese, flagon of ale, office raise, championship ring, the misfortunes of others, sure, good things, beyond count, queens, kings, old clocks, comfy clothes, lots, innumerable items in stock, baseball cards and bingo buttons, pot-au-feu, listen, we could go on and on like a long speech, sure it's a great world, sights to see, canyons full of canyon, corn on the cob, the eroded great pyramids, contaminated towns, eroded hillsides, deleafed trees, those whitened limbs stark and noble in the evening light, geeeez, what gobs of good things, no shit, service elevators, what would we do without, and all the inventions of man, Krazy Glue and food fights, girls wrestling amid mounds of Jell-O, drafts of dark beer, no end of blue sea, formerly full of fish, eroded hopes, eruptions of joy, because we're winning, have won, won, won what? the . . . the Title. ~ William H. Gass
Baseball Cards quotes by William H. Gass
The stories are endless, infinitely familiar, traded by the faithful like baseball cards, fondled until they fray around the edges and blur into the apocryphal. ~ Joan Didion
Baseball Cards quotes by Joan Didion
I know a baseball star who wouldn't report the theft of his wife's credit cards because the thief spends less than she does. ~ Joe Garagiola
Baseball Cards quotes by Joe Garagiola
One night on the swing,

I pumped myself higher and higher

and plucked all the stars from the sky,

tucking them one by one

in my pocket,

between the licorice and baseball cards,

until all that remained

was the absolute dark

and the mischievous twinkle

of my eye

to guide me back

to my home. ~ Beryl Dov
Baseball Cards quotes by Beryl Dov
I'M LOSING FAITH IN MY FAVORITE COUNTRY

Throughout my life, the United States has been my favorite country, save and except for Canada, where I was born, raised, educated, and still live for six months each year. As a child growing up in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, I aggressively bought and saved baseball cards of American and National League players, spent hours watching snowy images of American baseball and football games on black and white television and longed for the day when I could travel to that great country. Every Saturday afternoon, me and the boys would pay twelve cents to go the show and watch U.S. made movies, and particularly, the Superman serial. Then I got my chance. My father, who worked for B.F. Goodrich, took my brother and me to watch the Cleveland Indians play baseball in the Mistake on the Lake in Cleveland. At last I had made it to the big time. I thought it was an amazing stadium and it was certainly not a mistake. Amazingly, the Americans thought we were Americans.

I loved the United States, and everything about the country: its people, its movies, its comic books, its sports, and a great deal more. The country was alive and growing. No, exploding. It was the golden age of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The American dream was alive and well, but demanded hard work, honesty, and frugality. Everyone understood that. Even the politicians.

Then everything changed.

Partly because of its proximity to ~ Stephen Douglass
Baseball Cards quotes by Stephen Douglass
He was not going to give her the smile she was hunting. He couldn't allow it. Trina collected his moments of weakness like a kid after baseball cards. Once they were hers, she cashed them in for pieces of his soul. He simply didn't have enough left to play her games. ~ Dee Tenorio
Baseball Cards quotes by Dee Tenorio
It would have been unthinkable for anyone on the block not to know the names of the players, their batting averages, and the win-loss record of the pitchers. We knew who they were playing on a given day, where they were playing, who was pitching, and how many games out of first place they might be. We also knew as much information about their personal lives as the baseball cards we flipped and traded provided. Most of our contact with the Dodgers came through the radio and TV play-by-play commentary of Red Barber and Vin Scully, who were as familiar to us as the players. Ebbets ~ Bernie Sanders
Baseball Cards quotes by Bernie Sanders
I knew when my career was over. In 1965 my baseball card came out with no picture. ~ Bob Uecker
Baseball Cards quotes by Bob Uecker
Baseball is about talent, hard work, and strategy. But at the deepest level, it's about love, integrity, and respect. ~ Pat Gillick
Baseball Cards quotes by Pat Gillick
So George Burns and my grandpa took me to my first baseball game. ~ Leigh Steinberg
Baseball Cards quotes by Leigh Steinberg
When I turned fifteen, I remember my father gave me a credit card which I was allowed to use for two things: emergencies and books. ~ Ann Brashares
Baseball Cards quotes by Ann Brashares
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance
I know that the spades
Are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds
Mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart ~ Sting
Baseball Cards quotes by Sting
No matter what type of cards life deals you ... always try to smile and be happy! ~ Timothy Pina
Baseball Cards quotes by Timothy Pina
The worst drivers are women in people carriers, men in white vans and anyone in a baseball cap. That's just about everyone. ~ Paul O'Grady
Baseball Cards quotes by Paul O'Grady
I never want to sit out. I want to play baseball games. ~ Matt Kemp
Baseball Cards quotes by Matt Kemp
OK for now. I enjoyed my quick, high-powered visit over there and look forward to a dead-game replay when I'm in better condition. Tell Hinckle he'd better take some liver exercises ... and also to get braced for my wild cards, which don't always mix well with grapefruit juice and burbon.
- To Peter Collier 10/11/1967 ~ Hunter S. Thompson
Baseball Cards quotes by Hunter S. Thompson
The stories of tarot are the reason for its existence. With a deck of cards, we can tell the stories of where we come from, how it is that we are here, what awaits us, and what we will or might become. Tarot tells the story that we are made in a divine image, and that the world (at least the world as we experience it) is made in that same image, so that in some subtle way God, humanity, and the world are all the same shape and are made of the same things. if that is true, then to be a student of tarot is to be a student of everything. ~ Wald Amberstone
Baseball Cards quotes by Wald Amberstone
Hitting is better than sex. ~ Reggie Jackson
Baseball Cards quotes by Reggie Jackson
We cannot change the cards we are delt, just how we play the hand ~ Randy Pausch
Baseball Cards quotes by Randy Pausch
You know how to steer a yacht?" Mr. McIntyre asked Ian worriedly.
"I was born knowing how to steer a yacht," Ian said. Then a stricken look came over his face. "But–do you suppose Jonah prepaid the full amount for renting this? Once my dad hears what Natalie and I did, he'll cancel our credit cards."
"You mean we're...we're poor now?" Natalie gasped.
"Penniless," Ian said grimly.
"Actually," Mr. McIntyre said, "I should have mentioned this before the others left. Grace had an addendum to her will regarding everyone who made it through the gauntlet. There were eight of you–you will all receive double the amount you turned down to get the first clue."
"It was a million dollars originally," Ian said. "So Natalie and I each get two million dollars? I suppose we could live on that."
Natalie beamed.
"That is such a relief!" she said. "Being poor wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be, but still–"
"You were only poor for about two seconds!" Dan protested, rolling his eyes. ~ Margaret Peterson Haddix
Baseball Cards quotes by Margaret Peterson Haddix
I think we are here to make the world a better place then we found it. I think we do not always deserve the cards that we are dealt-good or bad. But we are judged by how we play the cards we are dealt. Those of us with a bum deal that makes it harder to do good-we just have to work a little more is all. There is no destiny. There is just muddling through without doing too much damage.
Kitty Norville ~ Carrie Vaughn
Baseball Cards quotes by Carrie Vaughn
Some men don't like female gendered credit cards. ~ Tarryn Fisher
Baseball Cards quotes by Tarryn Fisher
And no, I don't mind if you want to write me again. Even if you do it in one of those kitten-hanging-from-a-tree cards. ~Lincoln ~ Katie McGarry
Baseball Cards quotes by Katie McGarry
Over the course of a season, a miscue will cost you more than a good play. ~ Jerry Coleman
Baseball Cards quotes by Jerry Coleman
I'm not greedy. I have love, blue skies, and Hallmark cards, and that has to be enough. It has to be enough, but it's everything in the world - and everything in the world is plenty for me. It seems just rude to beg the invisible for more. ~ Penn Jillette
Baseball Cards quotes by Penn Jillette
Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards. This is your life and mine. I've spent a whole lifetime building this and as long as I'm in charge, nobody is going to knock it down. ~ Mr. Lee
Baseball Cards quotes by Mr. Lee
I am very excited to be included in the very first college baseball Hall of Fame class. For me to be honored with these coaches and players that I have grown to admire and respect is very special. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Lubbock. ~ Skip Bertman
Baseball Cards quotes by Skip Bertman
A Manifesto for Introverts
1. There's a word for 'people who are in their heads too much': thinkers.
2. Solitude is a catalyst for innovation.
3. The next generation of quiet kids can and must be raised to know their own strengths.
4. Sometimes it helps to be a pretend extrovert. There will always be time to be quiet later.
5. But in the long run, staying true to your temperament is key to finding work you love and work that matters.
6. One genuine new relationship is worth a fistful of business cards.
7. It's OK to cross the street to avoid making small talk.
8. 'Quiet leadership' is not an oxymoron.
9. Love is essential; gregariousness is optional.
10. 'In a gentle way, you can shake the world.' -Mahatma Gandhi ~ Susan Cain
Baseball Cards quotes by Susan Cain
The way we treat people we disagree with most is a report card on what we've learned about love. ~ Bob Goff
Baseball Cards quotes by Bob Goff
The public wouldn't like the perfect umpire in every game. It would kill off baseball's greatest alibi - 'We was robbed.' ~ Billy Evans
Baseball Cards quotes by Billy Evans
Bob Davis has his hair differently this year, short with curls like Randy Jones wears. I think you call it a Frisbee. ~ Jerry Coleman
Baseball Cards quotes by Jerry Coleman
My dear brother, never allow a woman to hold all of the cards. ~ Karen Hawkins
Baseball Cards quotes by Karen Hawkins
This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins, Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere. I loved Kirby deeply. A tremendous teammate, Kirby will always be remembered for his never-ending hustle, infectious personality, trademark smile and commitment to the community. ~ Carl Pohlad
Baseball Cards quotes by Carl Pohlad
Baseball has a special place in our hearts. It is the game that shows us as we would like to be. ~ Mary McGrory
Baseball Cards quotes by Mary McGrory
Nicole craved sweets. Her list included peach pie, rhubarb pie, and pumpkin pie, all of which would be on hand the following week for the Fourth of July cookout on the bluff, so she knew Quinnie cooks would have their recipe cards nearby. In addition to pies, she wanted recipes for blueberry cobbler, apple crisp, molasses Indian pudding, Isobel Skane's chocolate almond candy, and, of course, Melissa Parker's marble macadamia brownies. ~ Barbara Delinsky
Baseball Cards quotes by Barbara Delinsky
Entomologists trap insects in their killing jars and then pin their corpses to cards, and no one utters a single squeak of protest. For that matter, let a gentleman hunt a tiger for its skin, and everyone applauds his courage. But to shoot a dragon for science? That, for some reason, is cruel. ~ Marie Brennan
Baseball Cards quotes by Marie Brennan
No one was more important to the game of baseball in the last half of the 20th century than Henry Aaron and no one writes about that supremely talented man, that tumultuous time and this treasure of a game better than Howard Bryant. Together, they are an extraordinary combination, and the book Bryant has written gets to the heart of the complicated and dignified, patient and consistent genuine hero that is Henry Aaron. ~ Ken Burns
Baseball Cards quotes by Ken Burns
We lie and we are lied to, and the best liars - the ones who don't even see it as lying - get the business cards and the corner offices and the fancy clothes some other liar tricked them into thinking they needed. At least it used to bother people that the liars and
frauds and phonies rose to the top, the citizens expressed concern that shit floated. Today we put the shit on magazine covers, laud its buoyancy, and anxiously wait to buy the shit's best-selling business book about how you can float your shit, too. ~ Shalom Auslander
Baseball Cards quotes by Shalom Auslander
Kaylee,
For over a hundred years, magicians have been pulling objects out of hats. Rabbits, flowers... It's become such a famous trick that rabbits are known to represent magic in general.
I'm a magician. I've been pulling things from hats since I learned the trick at ten years old. It's all about sleight of hand. Misdirection.
Distraction.
What people don't really know is it isn't the magician that makes the trick magical. It's the object. What is a zig-zag box without the blades? What is a cage without a dove?
The object is the spark--the real reason why the illusion is worth seeing, worth doing, worth discovering.
Sometimes magicians lose their rabbits. They get lost in the act, or the magician makes a mistake and has to coax the rabbit back out. Because without the rabbit, the trick is useless. Without the rabbit, the hat becomes insignificant.
Kaylee Elizabeth Sperling, you are the rabbit to my hat, and I love you. Please forgive me for losing the spark in your trick. I will do whatever I can to make it up to you, starting with this deck of cards. 52 reasons why I love you. And I could fill another deck. Perhaps two more or three.
Whatever it takes to coax my rabbit back out.
-Nate ~ Cassie Mae
Baseball Cards quotes by Cassie Mae
Conversion must mean more than just being a 'card-carrying' member of the church with a tithing receipt, a membership card, a temple recommend, etc. It means to overcome the tendencies to criticize and to strive continually to improve inward weaknesses and not merely the outward appearances. ~ Harold B. Lee
Baseball Cards quotes by Harold B. Lee
Bolick. "Mrs. Finnemore was sound asleep in the downstairs bedroom, she heard nothing, and at some point she got up to check on April. That's when she realized she was gone." Theo looked at Mrs. Finnemore, who again shot him a fierce look. He knew the truth, and she knew he knew the truth. Trouble was, Theo couldn't tell the truth because he'd made a promise to April. The truth was that Mrs. Finnemore had not been home for the past two nights. April had been living alone, terrified, with all the doors and windows locked as tightly as possible; with a chair jammed against her bedroom door; with an old baseball bat across the end of her ~ John Grisham
Baseball Cards quotes by John Grisham
I keep your soul
In my ageing wallet,
The unimportant stuff
(Money, cards, coins)
Stay loose in my pocket,
A place as fickle as they. ~ Phen Weston
Baseball Cards quotes by Phen Weston
Senescent judges show how patriotic they are by passing out hard sentences for tearing up a draft card or following one's conscience according to the principles established by our country at the Nuremburg trials. ~ Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Baseball Cards quotes by Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
If you want a favorite book, Orson Scott Card's 'Ender's Game'. You'll be hooked. I think he's written like twelve or thirteen. ~ Marisol Nichols
Baseball Cards quotes by Marisol Nichols
Balls and strikes are the basic tenet to everything in baseball. From the perspective of hitting, pitching, offense and defense, it's all about the strike zone and how the battle is waged there between the pitcher and hitter. ~ Doug Harvey
Baseball Cards quotes by Doug Harvey
...a totally dried noose for one is to another an integrated text adept at the cards that ruin whimsy... ~ Peter Ganick
Baseball Cards quotes by Peter Ganick
Baseball is the exponent of American Courage, Confidence, Combativeness, American Dash, Discipline, Determination, American Energy, Eagerness, Enthusiasm, American Pluck, Persistency, Performance, American Spirit, Sagacity, Success, American Vim, Vigor, Virility. ~ Albert Goodwill Spalding
Baseball Cards quotes by Albert Goodwill Spalding
So when I'm up here it feeds, for lack of a better word, nostalgia about my youth. Some people get that way when they see a baseball field or smell trout on the grill. I get that feeling from vertigo and the Freudian fantasy of falling to my certain death on the pavement. ~ Shane Kuhn
Baseball Cards quotes by Shane Kuhn
Average household credit card debt topped the landmark of $10,000 in 2006, a hundredfold increase over the average consumer debt in the 1960s. One consequence: Much of the material buried in landfills in recent years was bought with those same credit cards, leading to the quintessentially American practice of consumers continuing to pay, sometimes for years, for purchases after they become trash. ~ Edward Humes
Baseball Cards quotes by Edward Humes
It's hard to get lost if you don't know where you're going. ~ Jim Jarmusch
Baseball Cards quotes by Jim Jarmusch
When I was a kid, my nickname was Mr. Baseball. Because of the stitches. ~ Emo Philips
Baseball Cards quotes by Emo Philips
It was so difficult for the fans to understand my problems with baseball. ~ Curt Flood
Baseball Cards quotes by Curt Flood
Use emotional awareness and pay attention to your body - look [and locate] concrete physical sensations - like stabbing, aching, throbbing - and [distinguish and define them] by saying things like, "it is the size of a golf ball or it is the size of a baseball" - do whatever you can do to find painful physical sensations. ~ Gary Zukav
Baseball Cards quotes by Gary Zukav
You can't compare me to my father. Our similarities are different. ~ Dale Berra
Baseball Cards quotes by Dale Berra
Benedict may not be as hurt as he really is. ~ Jerry Coleman
Baseball Cards quotes by Jerry Coleman
Yes, we've seen it all before. And yes, those who do not study history are condemned to repeat it. But no, the sky is not falling - baseball is such a great game that neither the owners nor the players can kill it. After some necessary carnage, market forces will prevail. ~ John Thorn
