Author branding is the process of positioning an author as the center of attraction and influence, to be the preferred choice in a given theme, style, category, niche or genre ~ Bernard Kelvin Clive
Author Branding quotes by Bernard Kelvin Clive
Just read The Virtue of Minding Your Own Business. Oh my, what currents run deep! Beautifully seen, beautifully told. Praise praise praise ... Pardon my French, but you are one darn major American writer!
Richard Bach, author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull and Illusions, on Sandcastle and Other Stories ~ Richard Bach
Author Branding quotes by Richard Bach
Life takes its own turns, makes its own demands, writes its own story, and along the way, we start to realize we are not the author. ~ Barack Obama
Author Branding quotes by Barack Obama
You have to appreciate the readers, without them there are no stories worth telling. ~ Andrew Lennon
Author Branding quotes by Andrew Lennon
Both Tom and I adore detective stories. Isn't that so, Tom?" [Lady Brace]
"Right!" agreed her husband ... "But they've got to be proper detective stories. They've got to present a tricky, highly sophisticated problem, which you're given fair opportunity to solve."
"And," amplified Virginia, "no saying they're psychological studies when the author can't write for beans."
"Correct!" her husband agreed again. "Couldn't care less when you're supposed to get all excited as to whether the innocent man will be hanged or the innocent heroine will be seduced. Heroine ought to be seduced; what's she there for? The thing is the mystery. It's not worth reading if the mystery is simple or easy or no mystery at all. ~ Carter Dickson
Author Branding quotes by Carter Dickson
It's your difference that sets you apart not your similarity, stand out! ~ Bernard Kelvin Clive
Author Branding quotes by Bernard Kelvin Clive
Every difficult work presents us with a choice of whether to judge the author inept for not being clear, or ourselves stupid for not grasping what is going on. Montaigne encouraged us to blame the author. An incomprehensible prose-style is likely to have resulted more from laziness than cleverness; what reads easily is rarely so written ... ~ John Kennedy Toole
Author Branding quotes by John Kennedy Toole
Innovation invasion is a brand's wheel that turns fortunes ~ Bernard Kelvin Clive
Author Branding quotes by Bernard Kelvin Clive
Be the author of your life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Author Branding quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
When the magic of the brand is truly felt by the workforce, it can be called brandful. ~ Julia Gometz
Author Branding quotes by Julia Gometz
Literary texts do not exist on bookshelves: they are processes of signification materialized only in the practice of reading. For literature to happen, the reader is quite as vital as the author. ~ Terry Eagleton
Author Branding quotes by Terry Eagleton
We really learn only from those books that we cannot judge. The author of a book that we were able to judge would have to learn from us. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Author Branding quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
This is going to take a while. I'm a fantasy author. We have trouble with the concept of brevity. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Author Branding quotes by Brandon Sanderson
Humanity was a passing notion to him; something he liked to try on for size and model in the dressing room, but never actually felt compelled to buy. ~ Jane Bled
Author Branding quotes by Jane Bled
I actually chafe at describing myself as masculine. For one thing, masculinity itself is such an expansive territory, encompassing boundaries of nationality, race, and class. Most importantly, individuals blaze their own trails across this landscape. And it's hard for me to label the intricate matrix of my gender as simply masculine.

To me, branding individual self-expression as simply feminine or masculine is like asking poets: Do you write in English or Spanish? The question leaves out the possibilities that the poetry is woven in Cantonese or Ladino, Swahili or Arabic. The question deals only with the system of language that the poet has been taught. It ignores the words each writer hauls up, hand over hand, from a common well. The music words make when finding themselves next to each other for the first time. The silences echoing in the space between ideas. The powerful winds of passion and belief that move the poet to write. ~ Leslie Feinberg
Author Branding quotes by Leslie Feinberg
If you are to become what you are meant to be, you have to first find your real meaning! ~ Leslie Austin
Author Branding quotes by Leslie Austin
A narrative is like a room on whose walls a number of false doors have been painted; while within the narrative, we have many apparent choices of exit, but when the author leads us to one particular door, we know it is the right one because it opens. ~ John Updike
Author Branding quotes by John Updike
Still, when I read the story, I felt like I'd written half of it myself, and the author guy was responsible for the other half. And when the two halves came together it was like the end of amnesia and all the memories came flooding back. The best stories are like that. They're like spaceships. they take you somewhere far away and you think, oh, what a weird place. But then you think, wait, maybe I've been here before. Maybe I was even born here. ~ Victor Lodato
Author Branding quotes by Victor Lodato
In fact I don't think of literature, or music, or any art form as having a nationality. Where you're born is simply an accident of fate. I don't see why I shouldn't be more interested in say, Dickens, than in an author from Barcelona simply because I wasn't born in the UK. I do not have an ethno-centric view of things, much less of literature. Books hold no passports. There's only one true literary tradition: the human. ~ Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Author Branding quotes by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
A great work must be novel without being far-fetched, frequently sublime, but always natural. The author must know the human heart, and how to make it speak; he must be a poet, without letting any of his characters speak like poets; and he must be a master of his language, using it purely and harmoniously and not letting the rhyme interfere with the sense. ~ Voltaire
Author Branding quotes by Voltaire
If a great mansion is located in a wrong environment, it loses its real value! So it is, when a great and true genius fails to get the right stage, its real value is least seen! ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

considering that lexicons and dictionaries are practically a high art form in German- speaking countries. The entry merges Essad Bey and Wolfgang von Weisl into one person. It explains that "Wolfgang (von) Weisl" also used the pseudonyms Leo Noussimbaum, Essad Bey, and Kurban Said - and hence the Austrian journalist, who otherwise had only a travel book and a book on Austrian artillery to his credit, suddenly was the prolific author of approximately twenty works of fiction and nonfiction ~ Tom Reiss
Author Branding quotes by Tom Reiss
To be the child of immigrants from Eastern Europe is in itself a special kind of experience; and an important one to an author. He has heard two languages through childhood, the one spoken with ease at home, and the other spoken with ease in the streets and at school, but spoken poorly at home. ~ Delmore Schwartz
Author Branding quotes by Delmore Schwartz
Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot.

G.G., CHIEF OF ORDNANCE ~ Mark Twain
Author Branding quotes by Mark Twain
Author:
A common gadabout who freely wanders over the landscape with wanton disregard. His days are spent picking up all the stray free words he can handle and squirreling them away for later use.
Subsequently, (days, months or years later) working by candlelight and hidden away in his dank, musty secluded lair, the rogue simply rearranges the collected words on yellowed bond with a sharpened quill ink pen fashioned from the tail feather of a bald-headed vulture.
Once finished, the dastardly cur audaciously attempts to sell those assembled pages for fleeting fame and profit. ~ Leopold Throckmorton
Author Branding quotes by Leopold Throckmorton
Life is the greatest chance that has been given to all of us. So how do you choose to live your life? You've got a pen. Write it down. ~ Kcat Yarza
Author Branding quotes by Kcat Yarza
Dad used to read aloud to us from Dickens and Kipling. My tastes were omnivorous. I read anything I could lay my hands on, but the memory that stays with me is that of my father reading the Jungle Books to us when we were young. Beautiful stories! ~ A.B. Guthrie Jr.
Author Branding quotes by A.B. Guthrie Jr.
Rather, it provided a literary framework within which the author could effectively express the Hebraic conviction that one God created the world by bringing order out of chaos. He was interested in thematic rather than chronological organization. The ~ Gregory A. Boyd
Author Branding quotes by Gregory A. Boyd
There are indeed 'values' in the Harry Potter series, but they're confused with anti-values. Potterworld is a scrambled moral universe. There are Christian symbols in the series, but the author misappropriates them, mutates them, and integrates them into a supposedly larger and broader system where evil symbols are dominant. ~ Michael O'Brien
Author Branding quotes by Michael O'Brien
Quitting is a hiccup for losers. And down they go. ~ Lorenz Font
Author Branding quotes by Lorenz Font
Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it a rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul. ~ Unknown Author 429
Author Branding quotes by Unknown Author 429
You are an author, a public figure. You are going to be judged no matter what you write, so live your life in a way that's pleasing and congruent to your soul ~ Sarah Gerdes
Author Branding quotes by Sarah Gerdes
When authors write from personal experiences, straight from the heart,it touches the readers. Their work speaks out to all who read it,and most of the time, people can relate to what was written. I have always believed that books can change people's lives. Especially ones where the author is sincere, and writes deep, thoughtful, touching things from their hearts.-Nina Jean Slack ~ Nina Jean Slack
Author Branding quotes by Nina Jean Slack
John A. Templer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, author of the definitive (and, it must be said, almost only) scholarly text on the subject, The Staircase: Studies of Hazards, Falls, and Safer Design, suggests that all fall-injury figures are probably severely underestimated anyway. ~ Bill Bryson
Author Branding quotes by Bill Bryson
However, I have also argued for allegory's positive effects. It is a process that typically takes control away from the author of a narrative and gives it to the reader. It is the reader who decides whether to interpret writing on a literal or a symbolic level. In giving greater control to the reader, allegory allows for imaginative and reflective analyses of mythology, and for its ideological purposes to be criticized, as well as affirmed. ~ Helen Morales
Author Branding quotes by Helen Morales
Both villains and heroes are a bit boring, really, unless they're flawed and broken somehow. If they're not flawed and broken, then clearly they need to be broken and made flawed. That's what an author does if he or she has any dignity. ~ Ben Peek
Author Branding quotes by Ben Peek
Times have changed since a certain author was executed for murdering his publisher. They say that when the author was on the scaffold he said good-bye to the minister and to the reporters, and then he saw some publishers sitting in the front row below, and to them he did not say good-bye. He said instead, "I'll see you again." ~ James M. Barrie
Author Branding quotes by James M. Barrie
Warm honey, a shot of raw whiskey, and a little hot puff of smoke wafted from his mouth like a fine and rare brandy being decanted. -- Chloe San Valentine from 3 WISHES ~ Peggy Jaeger
Author Branding quotes by Peggy Jaeger
Could he with reason murmur at his case, Himself sole author of his own disgrace? ~ William Cowper
Author Branding quotes by William Cowper
An admirable line of Pablo Neruda's, "My creatures are born of a long denial," seems to me the best definition of writing as a kind of exorcism, casting off invading creatures by projecting them into universal existence, keeping them on the other side of the bridge ... It may be exaggerating to say that all completely successful short stories, especially fantastic stories, are products of neurosis, nightmares or hallucination neutralized through objectification and translated to a medium outside the neurotic terrain. This polarization can be found in any memorable short story, as if the author, wanting to rid himself of his creature as soon and as absolutely as possible, exorcises it the only way he can: by writing it. ~ Julio Cortazar
Author Branding quotes by Julio Cortazar
Readers will stay with an author, no matter what the variations in style and genre, as long as they get that sense of story, of character, of empathetic involvement. ~ Dean Koontz
Author Branding quotes by Dean Koontz
And I *know* I wrote in the above that I hate biographies and reviews that focus on the psychological, surface detail, especially when they pertain to women writers, because I think it's really about the cult of the personality, which is essentially problematic, and I think simplistically psychologizing which biographies are so wont to do is really problematic, and dangerous, especially when dealing with complicated women who just by being writers at a certain time and age were labelled as nonconformist, or worse, hysterical or ill or crazy, and I think branding these women as femme fatales is all so often done. And I know in a way I'm contributing to this by posting their bad-ass photos, except hopefully I am humanizing them and thinking of them as complicated selves and intellects AND CELEBRATING THEM AS WRITERS as opposed to straight-up objectifying. One particular review long ago in Poetry that really got my goat was when Brian Phillips used Gertrude Stein's line about Djuna Barnes having nice ankles as an opener in a review of her poetry, and to my mind it was meant to be entirely dismissive, as of course, Stein was being as well. Stein was many important revolutionary things to literature, but a champion of her fellow women writers she was not. They published my letter, but then let the guy write a reply and scurry to the library and actually read Nightwood, one of my all-time, all-times, and Francis Bacon's too, there's another anecdote. And it's burned in my brain his ~ Kate Zambreno
Author Branding quotes by Kate Zambreno
My mother's true appeal went beyond the clash of the beautiful trust fund darling as the arm candy of an overweight trailer salesman. Carl grew up in harsh, chaotic poverty. His escape was the alcoholism that was conceived during puberty and flourished throughout adulthood. His initial career was a diesel mechanic wearing faded coveralls with oil up his nails and sweat on his brow. His earliest homes were the dingy trailers he would later profit from. His first marriage was doused with benders, acid trips, and sex crazed parties packed with orgies with a first wife who'd lost track of number of dicks shoved down her throat in the midst of intoxication. I don't know what sparked his revelation, but at some point, Carl decided to fiercely pursue the world he envied. He wanted a life of starched, white shirts, ties, SUVs, and picket fences. He ached for the scent of steaks grilling on his sunny patio. He dreamed of white-collar southern beauty and my mother, in all her naïve innocence, was the loveliest possession he could ever obtain. ~ Magda Young

Your ideal customer should be attracted to the brand that rests on the fabulous culture you
created, but they don't have to share your personal interests or have the same lifestyle you do. ~ Amber Hurdle
Author Branding quotes by Amber Hurdle
It is impossible to read this opening paragraph without an involuntary feeling of religious awe; it breathed the very savor of Gospel antiquity. The sincerity of the author heightens his power of language. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
