By now the streets of Kalaupapa were filled with people racing for high ground - sick people crying
"Tsunami!" as nature played yet another mean trick on them, God's last best joke at their expense. It was,
after all, April Fool's Day. ~ Alan Brennert
April Fools quotes by Alan Brennert
For April Fools Day, someone played a really cruel joke on me. They stole ALL my mirrors and I had to go hours without seeing myself. I mean, I couldn't even do my daily affirmations. What kind of world is this? I tell you, it's artists like myself that really suffer. ~ James Franco
April Fools quotes by James Franco
When a husband's story is believed, he begins to suspect his wife. ~ H.L. Mencken
April Fools quotes by H.L. Mencken
Actually, we did a fun April Fools' thing with Google a couple of years ago, which we called Virgle. And we looked for volunteers to go on a one-way trip to Mars. ~ Richard Branson
April Fools quotes by Richard Branson
Indiana's governor is coming under fire for a new law that some people feel is anti-gay. The governor now says he is not anti-gay. Then immediately afterwards he said, 'April Fools.' It wasn't his best joke. ~ Conan O'Brien
April Fools quotes by Conan O'Brien
The haste of a fool is the slowest thing in the world. ~ Thomas Shadwell
April Fools quotes by Thomas Shadwell
Today is April 1, April Fools' Day, a day that people try to fool their friends and relatives. Don't confuse that with April 15, when people try to fool the IRS. ~ Jay Leno
April Fools quotes by Jay Leno
One of the things I loved about Chris was his sense of humor, which seemed perfectly matched with mine, even at its most offbeat. April Fools' Day was always a major highlight. A month before our daughter was due, I woke him up in the middle of the night.
"Don't panic," I told him, "but I think I'm going into labor."
"Do we have a bag?" he asked, jumping up immediately.
"No, no, don't worry." I slipped out of bed and went to take a shower.
Chris immediately got dressed and, calmly but very quickly, gathered my clothes and packed a suitcase.
"I'm ready!" he announced, barging into the bathroom.
"Babe, do you know what day it is?" I asked sweetly. It was two A.M., April 1.
"Are you kidding me?" he said, disbelieving.
I laughed and plunged back into the shower.
He quickly got revenge by flushing the toilet, sending a burst of cold water across my body.
In retrospect, maybe I'd been a little cruel, but we did love teasing each other. At our wedding, we'd smooshed cake into each other's faces. That began a tradition that continued at each birthday--whether it was ours or not. The routine never seemed to get old. We'd giggle and laugh, chasing each other as if we were crazy people. Our friends and neighbors got used to it--and learned to stay out of the line of fire. ~ Taya Kyle
April Fools quotes by Taya Kyle
When you want to fool the world, tell the truth. ~ Otto Von Bismarck
April Fools quotes by Otto Von Bismarck
The aim of the joke is not to degrade the human being, but to remind him that he is already degraded. ~ George Orwell
April Fools quotes by George Orwell
Anybody who claims to be excited for April Fools' Day is probably a sociopath. ~ John Oliver
April Fools quotes by John Oliver

April Fools quotes by Stephen Hawking
As a wise man once said, "April Fools Day is for amateurs. You NEVER need an excuse to mess with people's heads." ~ Al Yankovic
April Fools quotes by Al Yankovic
I have taken the opportunity to update the book and include new theoretical and observational results obtained since the book was first published (on April Fools' Day, 1988). ~ Stephen Hawking
April Fools quotes by Stephen Hawking
On April 1, the Holy Spirit descended into the body of President Jerry Falwell I, who, it turned out, was in the last year of his life on this world, and God spoke. He wanted them to form God's Church of the Evangels and he wanted all Americans to have a chance to convert to that true church. Those who did not would be an abomination to the Lord. All the leaders present recognized the voice of the Holy Spirit and fell to their knees and all instantly joined the newly -formed church. The Great Conversion had begun. Interestingly enough, April 1 used to be known as April Fool's Day and people played practical jokes on each other , but of course it is now Jerry Falwell Day and the holiday is celebrated with praises to the Holy Spirit. ~ Randy Attwood
April Fools quotes by Randy Attwood
When I was about ten years old, I gave my teacher an April Fool's sandwich, which had a dead goldfish in it. ~ Alan Alda
April Fools quotes by Alan Alda
Even the Gods love jokes. ~ Plato
April Fools quotes by Plato
Our wisdom comes from our experience,
and our experience comes from our foolishness. ~ Sacha Guitry
April Fools quotes by Sacha Guitry
Some people can't be fooled on April Fool's Day because they were fooled too many times during their entire lifetime. ~ Akash B Chandran
April Fools quotes by Akash B Chandran
I'm sorry Mr Lichtenstein, but your January birthday means only one thing and that's you're probably conceived
on April Fools Day. ~ Olivia Lichtenstein
April Fools quotes by Olivia Lichtenstein
Art is the proper task of life. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
April Fools quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
All I know is that my life feels like a giant April Fool's Joke most of the time. Either that or a mysterious box that has something different in it every time you open it. ~ David Estes
April Fools quotes by David Estes
What I am trying to do is something different an effect of reality, but what some fools call Impressionism , a term that is usually misapplied, especially by the critics who don't hesitate to apply it to Turner , the greatest creator of mysterious effects in the whole world of art. ~ Claude Debussy
April Fools quotes by Claude Debussy
Fools "Sell Out" Where Angels Fear to Tread ~ Dean Cavanagh
April Fools quotes by Dean Cavanagh
My father told me once "Son, there are only two kinds people that can do whatever they want in life. Kings and fools.". So I decided to be a King. ~ Danilo Vukovljak
April Fools quotes by Danilo Vukovljak
Harness the imagination: Sometimes curbing her, sometimes giving her rein, for she is the whole of happiness. She sets to rights even the understanding. She sinks to tyranny, not satisfied with mere faith, but demanding works. Thus she becomes the mistress of life itself. She does so with pleasure or with pain, according to the nonsense presented. She makes people contented or discontented with themselves. By dangling before some nothing but the specter of their eternal suffering, she becomes the scourge of these fools. To others she shows nothing but fortune and romance, while merrily laughing. Of all this she is capable if not held in check by the wisest of wills. ~ Baltasar Gracian
April Fools quotes by Baltasar Gracian
Fools are more to be feared than the wicked. ~ Queen Christina
April Fools quotes by Queen Christina
It is ignorance that is at times incomprehensible to the wise; for instance, he may not see 'the positive person' or 'the negative person' in such a black and white way as many people do. A wise man may not understand it because, as a catalyst of wisdom, but not always wise in his own eyes, even he can learn from and give back to fools. To think that an individual has absolutely nothing to offer to the table is counter-intuitively what the wise man considers to be 'the ignorance of hopelessness'. ~ Criss Jami
April Fools quotes by Criss Jami
The Titanic was in more senses than one a fool's paradise. There is nothing that man can build that nature cannot destroy, and far as he may advance in might and knowledge and cunning, her blind strength will always be more than his match. ~ Filson Young
April Fools quotes by Filson Young
Whenever I come across someone speaking negatively about escapism or looking down on those who seek a temporary escape from this world, I can't help but look at them as absolute fools. To deny someone the right to find temporary peace in escapism is to deny human nature itself as well as all the benefits of such a beautiful concept. Often times, these instances show them saying that "it'll only make things worse" or "it's not gonna change anything", except, a lot of times, that's not the case at all. How many times has someone shut themselves away from the world by listening to a song they hold dear only to return more ready to face the world than before, how many times has someone learned something about themselves through the fictional events of a novel that they wouldn't have other wise, how many times has society experienced great change through people who dreamed of making the world a better place, only to eventually make those dreams into a reality. ~ Justin Allen
April Fools quotes by Justin Allen
Career is the stringing together of opportunities and jobs. Mix in public opinion and past regrets. Add a dash of future panic and a whole lot of financial uncertainty. Career is something that fools you into thinking you are in control and then takes pleasure in reminding you that you aren't. Career is the thing that will not fill you up and will never make you truly whole. ~ Amy Poehler
April Fools quotes by Amy Poehler
Therefore the blind Jews are truly stupid fools ... ~ Martin Luther
April Fools quotes by Martin Luther
The pair of them were again in the eye of a storm of misery - their world was a storm of misery and they were caught in its center, in the deceptive stillness that had allowed them to forget, once upon a time, that all around them was a stinging whirl of hatred that would catch them - it was everywhere and everything and they'd been fools to think they could leave their small safe place and not be caught in that vortex like every other living creature in Eretz. ~ Laini Taylor
April Fools quotes by Laini Taylor
Even the wisest men make fools of themselves about women, and even the most foolish women are wise about men ~ Theodor Reik
April Fools quotes by Theodor Reik
Fools, when their roof-tree falls, think it doomsday. ~ James Russell Lowell
April Fools quotes by James Russell Lowell
I need to know I can take care of myself in all ways; financially, physically and emotionally. Because if I can't count on myself to do it, I'll never be confident enough to accept anyone else's help. ~ April White
April Fools quotes by April White
Considering how many fools can calculate, it is surprising that it should be thought either a difficult or a tedious task for any other fool to learn how to master the same tricks ... Being myself a remarkably stupid fellow, I have had to unteach myself the difficulties, and now beg to present to my fellow fools the parts that are not hard. Master these thoroughly, and the rest will follow. What one fool can do, another can. ~ Silvanus P. Thompson
April Fools quotes by Silvanus P. Thompson
What if I invited several people to form a study group with the purpose of living out the teachings of James together - a study that wasn't focused on learning facts, but on transforming our lives? ~ April Love-Fordham
April Fools quotes by April Love-Fordham
My Dearest, Can you forgive me? In a world that I seldom understand, there are winds of destiny that blow when we least expect them. Sometimes they gust with the fury of a hurricane, sometimes they barely fan one's cheek. But the winds cannot be denied, bringing as they often do a future that is impossible to ignore. You, my darling, are the wind that I did not anticipate, the wind that has gusted more strongly than I ever imagined possible. You are my destiny. I was wrong, so wrong, to ignore what was obvious, and I beg your forgiveness. Like a cautious traveler, I tried to protect myself from the wind and lost my soul instead. I was a fool to ignore my destiny, but even fools have feelings, and I've come to realize that you are the most important thing that I have in this world. I know I am not perfect. I've made more mistakes in the past few months than some make in a lifetime. I was wrong to deny what was obvious in my heart: that I can't go on without you. You were right about everything. I tried to deny the things you were saying, even though I knew they were true. Like one who gazes only backward on a trip across the country, I ignored what lay ahead. I missed the beauty of a coming sunrise, the wonder of anticipation that makes life worthwhile. It was wrong of me to do that, a product of my confusion, and I wish I had come to understand that sooner. Now, though, with my gaze fixed toward the future, I see your face and hear your voice, certain that this is the path I ~ Nicholas Sparks
April Fools quotes by Nicholas Sparks
For some reason all activity, all happiness on the part of other people made me feel like vomiting. I was aware that my own life was finished and was slowly and painfully guttering out. What earthly reason had I to concern myself with the lives of the fools, the rabble-people who were fit and healthy, ate well, slept well, and copulated well and who had never experienced a particle of my sufferings or felt the wings of death every minute brushing against their faces? ~ Sadegh Hedayat
April Fools quotes by Sadegh Hedayat
Words are wise men's counters, they do but reckon by them: but they are the money of fools, that value them by the authority of an Aristotle, a Cicero, or a Thomas, or any other doctor whatsoever, if but a man. ~ Thomas Hobbes
April Fools quotes by Thomas Hobbes
Sometimes we even have to risk making fools of ourselves. ~ E.L. Konigsburg
April Fools quotes by E.L. Konigsburg
In the North American Review, in August 1889, in an article titled "The Lesson of Conemaugh," the director of the U. S. Geological Survey, Major John Wesley Powell, wrote that the dam had not been "properly related to the natural conditions" and concluded: "Modern industries are handling the forces of nature on a stupendous scale. . . . Woe to the people who trust these powers to the hands of fools. ~ David McCullough
April Fools quotes by David McCullough
We know that their adventures are childish. They themselves are fools. They are ready to kill or be killed over a card-game in which an opponent - or they themselves - was cheating. Yet, thanks to such fellows, tragedies are possible. ~ Jean Genet
April Fools quotes by Jean Genet
I don't think it's cool when I have to announce that I'm gluten-free; in fact, I feel like a total jackass 99.9 percent of the time. ~ April Peveteaux
April Fools quotes by April Peveteaux
Coffee shop owner April Cassidy isn't looking for love. ~ Kristin Miller
April Fools quotes by Kristin Miller
Stephen and Higgins began bleeding all hands. They only took eight ounces from each, but this, bowl after bowl, amounted to nine good buckets with foam of an extraordinary beauty: but they had rather more than their fair share of fools who would be fainting, because as the breeze declined and the heat increased a sickly slaughterhouse reek spread about the deck; and one of them (a young Marine) actually pitched into a brimming bucket as he fell and caused three more to lurch, so angering Dr Maturin that the next half dozen patients were drained almost white, like veal, while guards were placed over the buckets that remained.
However, it was all over in an hour and fifteen minutes, both surgeons being brisk hands with a fleam; the corpses were dragged away by their friends to be recovered with sea-water or vinegar, according to taste; and finally, seeing that fair was fair, each surgeon bled the other. ~ Patrick O'Brian
April Fools quotes by Patrick O'Brian
Sermon: Why this surprising? Did you think you were going to live forever? Only difference between you, sitting there anticipating rest of your day, and Todd, in coffin, bound for eternal home in cold earth? Is heartbeat. Feel that, people? In your chests? This is thin line between you and grave. So why do you live like you are eternal? That foolish, you are fools. This scary? This not scary! This truth, this reality! ~ George Saunders
April Fools quotes by George Saunders
It was Daisuke's conviction that all morality traced its origins to social realities. He believed there could be no greater confusion of cause and effect than to attempt to conform social reality to a rigidly predetermined notion of morality. Accordingly, he found the ethical education conducted by lecture in Japanese schools utterly meaningless. In the schools, students were either instructed in the old morality or crammed with a morality suited to the average European. For an unfortunate people beset by the fierce appetites of life, this amounted to nothing more than vain, empty talk. When the recipients of this education saw society before their eyes, they would recall those lectures and burst out laughing. Or else they would feel that they had been made fools of. In Daisuke's case it was not just school; he had received the most rigorous and least functional education from his father. Thanks to this, he had at one time experienced acute anguish stemming from contradictions. Daisuke even felt bitter over it. ~ Natsume Sōseki
April Fools quotes by Natsume Sōseki
I saw myself as a leader of the community, not a member. I had no idea what a messed-up perspective that was at the time. ~ Hank Green
April Fools quotes by Hank Green
Young men think old men are fools, but old men know young men are fools. ~ George Chapman
April Fools quotes by George Chapman
When it comes to love and loss, acceptance is never easy. We can't make someone see all we have to give, make them love us, or make them change. All we can do is move on and stop wasting time. ~ April Mae Monterrosa
April Fools quotes by April Mae Monterrosa
What are you doing here, bridgeboy?" Adolin hissed from within his helmet.
"Playing one of the ten fools."
Adolin grunted. "Welcome to the party. ~ Brandon Sanderson
April Fools quotes by Brandon Sanderson
April marks the season when school begins. You wear your new school uniform, and I ask you to please be as unstylish as those fuji dawn flowers. If I find you that way, I may turn you into a gift of a potted plant against your will. ~ Novala Takemoto
April Fools quotes by Novala Takemoto
Tulips come up in spring for no reason. Of course, you planted bulbs and now in April the earth warms up. But why? For no reason except gravity. Why gravity? For no reason. And why did you plant red tulip bulbs to begin with? For beauty, which is itself and has no reason. So the world is empty. Things rise and fall for no reason. And what a great opportunity that is! You can start writing again at any minute. Let go of all your failures and sit down and write something great. Or write something terrible and feel great about it. ~ Natalie Goldberg
April Fools quotes by Natalie Goldberg
I urge all Texans to answer the call to serve those in need. By volunteering their time, energy or resources to helping others, adults and youngsters follow Christ's message of love and service in thought and deed. Therefore, I, George W. Bush, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim June 10, 2000, Jesus Day in Texas and urge the appropriate recognition whereof, In official recognition whereof, I hereby affix my signature this 17th day of April, 2000. ~ George W. Bush
April Fools quotes by George W. Bush
He took my hand and held it against his chest, Feel that? It beats for you. ~ Karli Perrin
April Fools quotes by Karli Perrin
Who were the men who did this?" Guido demanded suddenly.
Tonio was putting on his cloak. He looked up as if already in deep thought.
"Fools," he answered, "at the command of a coward. ~ Anne Rice
April Fools quotes by Anne Rice
Love is for children, said the girl.
Death is for fools, said the shadow.
Darkness is my destiny, said the boy.
Allegiance is my undoing, said the eagle.
Suffering is our fate, said the beauty.
And they were all horribly wrong. ~ Hafsah Faizal
April Fools quotes by Hafsah Faizal
And what about someone like Jack the Ripper? Does God love him too?" Archer stopped and held my gaze. "A man chooses what he becomes, and he must accept responsibility for his choices." "You didn't answer my question." "I don't know how to. ~ April White
April Fools quotes by April White
The world I grew up in was a brutal one. The murder rate was once seven people for every hundred thousand. The average American on minimum wage could barely afford to keep themselves alive on canned food. Millions died over private oil fortunes. Wealthy men and women ran the world for profit. Fools and charlatans got into our Parliaments and set the world on fire. We had everything on paper - checks, balances, freedom, democracy - and yet to live was to be a slave. ~ Yudhanjaya Wijeratne
April Fools quotes by Yudhanjaya Wijeratne
This is my breakfast: Two poached eggs, turkey bacon, and a half avocado. The yolks in a poached egg are alkalizing. Avocados are a great source of fat and vitamin E; great for your skin. It's super light and not too heavy. Sometimes I like a little sweet as well, so I have a cup of plain yogurt with blueberries. ~ April Bowlby
April Fools quotes by April Bowlby
Fools! You think of "god" as a sentient being. God is the word used to represent a force. This force created nothing, it just helps things along. It does not answer prayers, although it may make you think of a way to solve a problem. It has the power to influence you, but not decide for you. ~ Diogenes
April Fools quotes by Diogenes
Sweet April's tears, Dead on the hem of May. ~ Alexander Smith
April Fools quotes by Alexander Smith
7 Stay away from fools, for you won't find knowledge on their lips. 8 The prudent understand where they are going, but fools deceive themselves. ~ Anonymous
