I have so much residue crap in my hair from years and years of not washing it and not having any sense of personal hygiene whatsoever. Even today, I go into these things where I'm supposed to be this sexy guy or whatever, and I'm literally asking, 'If I get plumes of dandruff on me, can you just brush it off?' ~ Robert Pattinson
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Robert Pattinson
During World War II, the University of Minnesota's Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene conducted what scientists and relief workers still regard today as a benchmark study of starvation. Partly funded by religious groups, including the Society of Friends, the study was intended to help the Allies cope with released concentration-camp internees, prisoners of war, and refugees. The participants were all conscientious objectors who volunteered to lose 25 percent of their body weight over six months. The experiment was supervised by Dr. Ancel Keys (for whom the K-ration was named). The volunteers lived a spare but comfortable existence at a stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. ~ Nathaniel Philbrick
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Nathaniel Philbrick
Her religion
perhaps, Alwyn thought, American Christianity as a whole
was a religion of ideal prose; all the beauty it had was the elegance of a perfect law, a Napoleonic code. It deified Jesus, but deified Him as a social leader and teacher martyred for His virtue, a compassionate attorney at the right hand of God the judge, and a fulfillment of the half-political prophecies of the Old Testament
whose jurisprudence of hygiene, family relations, patriotism, and commerce, its morality resembled. ~ Glenway Wescott
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Glenway Wescott
And how about the "Daily Odes to the Benefactor"? Who can read them without bowing his head reverently before the selfless labor of this Number of Numbers? Or the terrible blood-red beauty of the "Flowers of Judicial Verdicts"? Or the immortal tragedy, "Lat for Work"? Or the bedside book of "Stanzas on Sexual Hygiene"? ~ Yevgeny Zamyatin
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Yevgeny Zamyatin
Success in training the boy depends largely on the Scoutmaster's own personal example. ~ Robert Baden-Powell
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Robert Baden-Powell
Sleep hygiene is a set of practices sleep experts recommend to obtain quality rest on a daily basis. Recommendations include low levels of stimulation in the evening, exercise and exposure to lots of natural light during the day, banning electronics from the bedroom, and sticking to a regular sleep-wake schedule. Children and teens who are stressed tend to have poor sleep hygiene if left to their own devices. ~ Victoria L. Dunckley
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Victoria L. Dunckley
It is beyond doubt that the chief motive of Vegetarianism is the humane one. Questions of hygiene and of economy both play their part, and an important part, in a full discussion of food reform; but the feeling which underlies and animates the whole movement is the instinctive horror of butchery, especially the butchery of the more highly organized animals, so human, so near akin to man. ~ Henry Stephens Salt
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Henry Stephens Salt
After a while the Senior Wrangler said, "Do you know, I read the other day that every atom in your body is changed every seven years? New ones keep getting attached and old ones keep on dropping off. It goes on all the time. Marvelous, really."

The Senior Wrangler could do to a conversation what it takes quite thick treacle to do to the pedals of a precision watch.

"Yes? What happens to the old ones?" said Ridcully, interested despite himself.

"Dunno. They just float around in the air, I suppose, until they get attached to someone else."

The Archchancellor looked affronted.

"What, even wizards?"

"Oh, yes. Everyone. It's part of the miracle of existence."

"Is it? Sounds like bad hygiene to me," said the Archchancellor. "I suppose there's no way of stopping it?"

"I shouldn't think so," said the Senior Wrangler, doubtfully. "I don't think you're supposed to stop miracles of existence."

"But that means everythin' is made up of everythin' else," said Ridcully.

"Yes. Isn't it amazing? ~ Terry Pratchett
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Terry Pratchett
Do I get to choose
what she commands you to do? Come on, let me, it'll be fun."
Jai laughed humorlessly. "I said I don't want her commanding me to do something asinine, kid."
Charlie's grin disappeared as quickly as it had surfaced. "I told you not to call me, kid, Jinn boy. I'm what… two years younger than you,
douchebag?"
"Try five. And that's only in physical years."
"What, you trying to say I'm not mature?"
"Oh those socks you're wearing definitely are. Have you heard of detergent? A shower? Hygiene?"
"I shower, you militant, glorified fucking babysitter."
"Watch it, kid."
"Kid? I am this close to taking a swing at you, you overblown piece of-"
"Oh for the love of God!" Ari cried, throwing her hands up, her head pounding. So much for their strained peace treaty. "Shut up. Shut up. Shut
up!"Despite their matching glowers, both of them slammed their lips closed and glared at one another. Ari heaved a sigh of relief as she pulled a
chilled can of soda out of the refrigerator. At least the soda still felt nice sliding down her throat. Not the same as an ice cold Coke on a blazing
summer day but still nice. She took a refreshing swig and turned towards her male companions once again. Blasts of frost shot out from Jai's eyes
only to be met by the simmering black heat of Charlie's angry gaze. Rolling her eyes and biting back the guilt that she was somehow responsible
for the animosity between the onl ~ Samantha Young
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Samantha Young
In fact, there is no point in trying to hide from your bacteria, for they are on and around you always, in numbers you can't conceive. If you are in good health and averagely diligent about hygiene, you will have a herd of about one trillion bacteria grazing on your fleshy plains - about a hundred thousand of them on every square centimeter of skin. They are there to dine off the ten billion or so flakes of skin you shed every day, plus all the tasty oils and fortifying minerals that seep out from every pore and fissure. You are for them the ultimate food court, with the convenience of warmth and constant mobility thrown in. By way of thanks, they give you B.O. ~ Bill Bryson
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Bill Bryson
People will make judgments before you even speak based on the way you look. Most definitely your physical appearance matters. The way you dress, your hygiene - it all matters. ~ Jonathan Adler
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Jonathan Adler
Axiomatization is what one does last, it's rubbish. It's the hygiene of mathematics, axiomatization. ~ Serge Lang
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Serge Lang
This is not about abortion or the antics. This is about pro choice versus anti-choice and government intervention in a woman's personal decisions about her life. ~ Kathleen Turner
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Kathleen Turner
Being sleep-derived not only hurts you at work, it hurts your health. You need to value yourself enough to have good sleep hygiene. ~ Marty Nemko
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Marty Nemko
Humor is a passive form of terrorism, of resistance, and of pseudo-aggression that has less to do with changing the world than with mental hygiene. It is self-therapy... ~ Romain Gary
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Romain Gary
The object of Literature is to instruct, to animate, or to amuse. ~ George Henry Lewes
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by George Henry Lewes
If you don't smell good, then you don't look good. ~ Katy Elizabeth
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Katy Elizabeth
To complete your daily mental hygiene, observe any part of you that is upset or anxious, and offer that part of yourself the following simple wishes: 'May you be well. May you be happy. May you be free from suffering.' Repeat this until you actually mean it. ~ Martha Beck
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Martha Beck
I'm cool buying tampons, but I'm not walking a tiny dog into a store in a purse. ~ Abby Jimenez
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Abby Jimenez
Irony is the hygiene of the mind. ~ Elizabeth Bibesco
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Elizabeth Bibesco
During the late 1910s and early '20s, immigrant workers at the Ford automotive plant in Dearborn, Michigan, were given free, compulsory "Americanization" classes. In addition to English lessons, there were lectures on work habits, personal hygiene, and table manners. The first sentence they memorized was "I am a good American. ~ Anne Fadiman
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Anne Fadiman

I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. It is good to brush your teeth when you are angry, because you brush harder and do a better job. ~ Lemony Snicket
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Lemony Snicket
We no longer know each other. Hell, I barely know myself these days. I brush my teeth and look in the mirror and think, "Who is this guy taking care of my oral hygiene? ~ Jarod Kintz
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Jarod Kintz
Man does not live by soap alone; and hygiene, or even health, is not much good unless you can take a healthy view of it or, better still, feel a healthy indifference to it. ~ Gilbert K. Chesterton
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Gilbert K. Chesterton
I think life should be more like TV. I think all of life's problems ought to be solved in 30 minutes with simple homilies, don't you? I think weight and oral hygiene ought to be our biggest concerns. I think we should all have powerful, high-paying jobs, and everyone should drive fancy sports cars. All our desires should be instantly gratified. Women should always wear tight clothing, and men should carry powerful handguns. Life overall should be more glamorous, thrill-packed, and filled with applause, don't you think? ... Then again, if real life was like that, what would we watch on television? ~ Bill Watterson
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Bill Watterson
He knew everything there was to know about literature, except how to enjoy it ~ Joseph Heller
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Joseph Heller
Can you take me back into town?" I say. "I can't get my voicemails."
"Why don't you calm down, D-Dub. I know you're menstruating, but everything's going to be fine. Once we get inside, I'll explain all about maxi pads, personal hygiene and the feel of a man's penis. ~ Victoria Scott
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Victoria Scott
Hygiene is for people like me; I've reached an age where I can no longer afford to smell like myself. ~ Bart Yates
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Bart Yates
There is often an inverse correlation between genius and personal hygiene. ~ Helen Simonson
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Helen Simonson
Imagine a world where people were 10% happier and less reactive. Marriage, parenting, road rage, politics - all would be improved upon. Public health revolutions can happen rapidly. Most Americans didn't brush their teeth until after world war 2 after soldiers were demanded to maintain oral hygiene. Exercise didn't get popular until science proved its benefits. Mindfulness, I had come to believe, could, in fact, change the world. ~ Dan Harris
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Dan Harris
The darker side of Nietzsche's ideas was incorporated into the Nazi belief system. Part of the link was straightforward: some things Nietzsche said were pure Nazi doctrine. His comments that 'The extinction of many types of people is just as desirable as any form of reproduction' and that 'the tendency must be towards the rendering extinct of the wretched, the deformed, the degenerate' could come from any work on racial hygiene.

Nietzsche's central contribution was not these explicitly Social Darwinist views, but his rejection of the Judeo-Christian morality of compassion for the weak. Self-creation required hardness towards oneself: a strong will imposing coherence on conflicting impulses. It also requires hardness on others. Conflicts between the self-creative projects of different people made inevitable the attempt to dominate others. The whole of life was a struggle in which victory went to the brave and to the strong-willed. Noble human qualities, linked with the will to power, were brought out in combat but atrophied in peace. Compassion was weakness, cowardice and self-deception. The Judeo-Christian emphasis on it was poison. In drawing these consequences from his beliefs about the death of God and from Social Darwinism, Nietzsche provided the part of the Nazi belief system which 'justified' the cruel steps they took to implement their other beliefs. ~ Jonathan Glover
Antisepsis Hygiene quotes by Jonathan Glover
If you're insinuating that my personal hygiene is not up to the same high standard as yours you can go suck my galoshes. ~ Alan Bradley
