Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Edward Robert Bulwer-Lytton
We may not know how to forgive, and we may not want to forgive; but the very fact we say we are willing to forgive begins the healing practice. ~ Louise Hay
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Louise Hay
There is a hard law. When an injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive. ~ Alan Paton
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Alan Paton
Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be. ~ Thomas A Kempis
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Thomas A Kempis
Can you really forgive if you can't forget? ~ Sarah Jessica Parker
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Sarah Jessica Parker

A grudge is like being stung to death by one bee. ~ William Walton
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by William Walton
Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. ~ John The Baptist
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by John The Baptist
You are helpful, and you are loved, and you are forgiven, and you are not alone. ~ John Green
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by John Green
As for the danger of alienating people with good intentions - well, one of the things that I learned from RaceFail (and also from general experience) was that people with good intentions are the ones to fear most. The overt racists are easy to deal with. You can spot them coming a mile away. But the well-intentioned people are scarier. They might not intend harm, but in most cases they haven't thought about all the racist (and other "-ist") messages they've absorbed from society. They haven't done the basic groundwork necessary to purge themselves of that passively-absorbed "-ism". So they say the most incredibly hurtful, self-absorbed, and utterly useless things, then compound the problem by getting upset when they're called on it. I liken these people to sleeper agents - they seem OK at first, but then they suddenly "activate" and stab you in the back, and then they come out of their fugue and freak because there's blood on their hands and they don't know how it got there and they refuse to accept that they're the ones who put it there, OMG, OMG. Meanwhile, you're on the floor bleeding out, unnoticed because of their histrionics.

The rage of RaceFail made many of these well-intentioned sleeper agents wake up. So while yes, I think the anger risked alienating some of them, I'm fine with that. They were always dangerous; I haven't lost anything by their alienation. The ones who wake up are a gain (or they will be, once they shift from "not causing harm" anymore ~ N.K. Jemisin
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by N.K. Jemisin
We think it is really very simple: Jesus had to die because we needed and need to be forgiven. But, ironically, such a focus shifts attention from Jesus to us. This is a fatal turn, I fear, because as soon as we begin to think this is all about us, about our need for forgiveness, bathos drapes the cross, hiding from us the reality that here we first and foremost see God. Moreover, ~ Stanley Hauerwas
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Stanley Hauerwas
They say there are strangers who threaten us
In our immigrants and infidels
They say there is strangeness too dangerous
In our theaters and bookstore shelves
That those who know what's best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves

Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand... ~ Rush
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Rush
We don't want people to understand forgiveness or prayer or mission or justice only intellectually. We want people who can forgive, who can hear and respond to God, who actually know Him. We want people who have hearts that break for our world and the people in it and do something about it. We want the kind of people in our communities who resemble the people we see in Scripture. ~ Mike Breen
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Mike Breen
Everyone grieves differently. No one handles the loss of a loved one the same. Some put on a brave face for others, keeping everything internal. Others let it all out at once and shatter, only to pick up the pieces just as quickly as they came apart. Still others don't grieve at all, implying they are incapable of emotion.
Then there are the ones like me, where grief is a badge we wear, where it's hard to let go because we don't want to. We probably wouldn't know how even is we wanted to. There's unanswered questions, unresolved feelings. Tere is anger that this person could even conceive of leaving us behind. We are the furious ones, the ones that scream at the injustice and the pain. We are the ones who obsess and slowly lose rational thought, knowing it is happening but unable to find a way to care. We are the ones who drown. ~ T.J. Klune
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by T.J. Klune
Truly loving people are uncommon. They are as uncommon as awake people. Our success in learning about love will directly correlate to our level of happiness. It is certainly worth persevering with the learning process which involves a great deal of honesty, introspection, and forgiveness. Even if we are the only one in the relationship on that path, it doesn't matter. We will still be blessed with our own happiness and isn't that the bottom line of what we all want? Our first responsibility is to create a happy life for ourselves. If the other person in the relationship learns to also value love, honesty, and forgiveness then the relationship will transform, usually slowly, into a strong connection which is good for the couple and others alike. ~ Donna Goddard
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Donna Goddard
Don't let hatred control you, no matter what others do that causes [anger]. You would only become guilty of the same sin that afflicts them, and nothing would be solved. ~ Billy Graham
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Billy Graham
Life is a whirlwind of many opportunities. Choose to embrace all of them in deepest gratitude. Learn to forgive yourself and honour the heart that beats within you, as well as the head that rests on your shoulders. Learn how to believe in people again and not be judging or cynical to various beliefs.
We are all of one light on this one Earth, and loving humanity makes all the difference. ~ Michelle Cruz-Rosado
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Michelle Cruz-Rosado
Nothing can survive without food. Everything we consume acts either to heal us or to poison us. We tend to think of nourishment only as what we take in through our mouths, but what we consume with our eyes, our ears, our noses, our tongues, and our bodies is also food. The conversations going on around us, and those we participate in, are also food. Are we consuming and creating the kind of food that is healthy for us and helps us grow? When we say something that nourishes us and uplifts the people around us, we are feeding love and compassion. When we speak and act in a way that causes tension and anger, we are nourishing violence and suffering. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
Familiarity reduces insecurity, so we feel more comfortable describing and combating the risks we think we understand: terrorists, immigrants, job loss or crime. But the true sources of insecurity in decades to come will be those that most of us cannot define: dramatic climate change and its social and environmental effects; imperial decline and its attendant 'small wars'; collective political impotence in the face of distant upheavals with disruptive local impact. These are the threats that chauvinist politicians will be best placed to exploit, precisely because they lead so readily to anger and humiliation. ~ Tony Judt
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Tony Judt
If you happen to live in Korea, you might always suffer from anger towards people in power, because of political and social problems. I felt gloomy under this social dictatorship. Looking back, I feel like I never saw a sunrise in Seoul. ~ Kim Hyesoon
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Kim Hyesoon
He didn't shout, "I love you!" for example, because self-conscious people don't shout that sort of thing. At that time, however, the Norwegian had other opportunities of expressing himself. He could express irritation or anger by going outside and chopping down a tree, or throwing big stones in the water.*
*As is known, the Norwegian coast is surrounded by thousands of larger and smaller stones (The Skerries). This is very likely a sign that there was considerable irritation during the Norwegian Stone Age. ~ Odd Borretzen
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Odd Borretzen
The strongest man is the one who, when he gets angry and his face reddens and his hackles rise, is able to defeat his anger.
(Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 5/367, and classified as hasan in Saheeh al-Jaami', 3859) ~ Anonymous
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Anonymous
Transcending anger happens when we are able to commit to something greater than ourselves. And, ironically, sacrifice and concern for others are the best things we can do for ourselves. Solidifying our human ties sustains us in the time of greatest need and angst. ~ Rhoda Baruch
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Rhoda Baruch
Flowing from this union, source of a plenitude of joy, the love of the couple reveals itself through the daily acceptance of the limits and faults of each other and in mutual openness. It is this acceptance in and through gentleness, kindness, forgiveness, confidence and the desire to see shining in the other the warm light of the Spirit of God that becomes the great sign of the merciful love of God for man and His incessant forgiveness. ~ Jean Vanier
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Jean Vanier
For all those people who wanted to go on believing, but whose anger at God made it hard for them to hold on to their faith and be comforted by religion. ~ Harold S. Kushner
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Harold S. Kushner
Even to-day the masses of the Negroes see all too clearly the anomalies of their position and the moral crookedness of yours. You may marshal strong indictments against them, but their counter-cries, lacking though they be in formal logic, have burning truths within them which you may not wholly ignore, O Southern Gentlemen! ~ W.E.B. Du Bois
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by W.E.B. Du Bois
Neil thought about Renee's bruised knuckles, Dan's fierce spirit, and Allison holding her ground on the court a week after Seth's death. He thought about his mother standing unflinching in the face of his father's violent anger and her ruthlessly leaving bodies in their wake. He felt compelled to say, "Some of the strongest people I've known are women. ~ Nora Sakavic
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Nora Sakavic
Affirm divine calmness and peace, and send out only thoughts of love and goodwill if you want to live in peace and harmony. Never get angry, for anger poisons your system. ~ Paramahansa Yogananda
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Paramahansa Yogananda
Anger and tears create the space for the work of the Spirit. They are the groaning of the Spirit for renewal or creation and an expression of compassion thus revealing a deep spiritual well. To fear our tears or to suppress our anger is to block the power of the spirit springing forth from within our spiritual wells to resist death and to sustain and renew life. ~ Elizabeth Conde-Frazier
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Elizabeth Conde-Frazier
Self-reflection is always an early step to healing, and forgiveness is the soul's sweetest healing. ~ S. Michael Wilcox
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by S. Michael Wilcox
If your level of anger or bitterness is not leading to a change in your life or relationship, it is because your ego is dominating. ~ Kemi Sogunle
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Kemi Sogunle
I have learnt through bitter experience the one supreme lesson to conserve my anger, and as heat conserved is transmuted into energy, even so our anger controlled can be transmuted into a power which can move the world. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Mahatma Gandhi
You know we talked about where people go when they die. I just believe you go someplace and I seen her layin there and I thought maybe she wouldn't go to heaven because, you know, I thought she wouldn't and I thought about God forgivin people and I thought about if I could ask God to forgive me for killin that son of a bitch because you and me both know I ain't sorry for it and I reckon this sounds ignorant but I didn't want to be forgiven if she wasn't. I didn't want to do or be nothin that she wasn't like going to heaven or anything like that. ~ Cormac McCarthy
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Cormac McCarthy
It is better to remain silence than to speak rudely when being provoked. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
No god will spare you forgiveness for loving me. ~ Liam Levi
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Liam Levi
All you need do is forgive. Resentment is an anchor holding you back from that which you desire most. Find the angel within you; cut the anchor line and beat your wings. The winds of forgiveness will stir a hurricane of healing and call up a tide of love that can carry you home. ~ Emily March
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Emily March
And to go forward, you need to get rid of your anger. And in order to do that, you need to go back to the past," Mike said.
"You sound like a fortune cookie. ~ Amy Lignor
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Amy Lignor
The difference between anger and deep remorse - remorse is much fatter. It's a deeper feeling altogether. Anger is too easy an escape for my money. ~ John Hurt
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by John Hurt
I now know how your anger
came from skeletons
that rattled in your heart
and you couldn't escape them. ~ Susie Clevenger
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Susie Clevenger
In all marriages there is struggle and ours was no different in that regard. But we always came to the other shore, dusted off, and said, There you are, my love. ~ Elizabeth Alexander
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Elizabeth Alexander
Every soul that is born into flesh is soiled by the filth of wickedness and sin ... In the Church, baptism is given for the remission of sins, and, according to the usage of the Church, baptism is given even to infants. If there were nothing in infants which required the remission of sins and nothing in them pertinent to forgiveness, the grace of baptism would seem superfluous ~ Origen
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Origen
God speaks to us individually, each and every one of us, that we need neither pope nor priest, nor bleeding statue, to find our way to faith. God is calling and we only have to listen. There are no clever tricks to forgiveness. There is only one way and there is only one Bible, and a woman can study it as well as a man. ~ Philippa Gregory
Anger And Forgiveness quotes by Philippa Gregory
Life is not about control or making things happen in the ways we think they should happen. In fact, it's rather arrogant for us to be on this planet that's been here for so long and expect to be able to control life on it. If we want to see changes, then our task is to set things in motion, not to micromanage and make them happen in the ways we think they should. If we have something that is possessing us, such as alcohol or our television sets or our cell phones, then it could be time to let it go and move on with our lives. If we're holding on to resentment and anger, we're simply raising our own stress levels and blood pressure, but we're not contributing anything positive to the situation
and it's time to let it go. ~ Tom Walsh
