According to my file, I was abandoned on the steps of the children's home in Telbury with a birth certificate tucked inside the shawl. The certificate stated my name, date of birth, and place of birth - which was Aldabury Maternity Hospital - and my birth mother's name and address. All I have is my first name and date and place of birth. Everything else regarding my birth mother on the certificate seems to be false. ~ Lorna Peel
Adoption Story quotes by Lorna Peel
If you come across someone who isn't cussing in the time of great anguish and distress then you've met the one causing everyone else to cuss." ~ Shellyanna Tidwell Preston.

Quote from the book "Shellyanna ~ A. White
Adoption Story quotes by A. White
Adoption isn't just a childhood experience, it's a life-long experience. ~ DaShanne Stokes
Adoption Story quotes by DaShanne Stokes
Eloise thought that justice was a funny thing. It was a big idea, a romantic one. It was imagined like a satisfying end to a story. ~ Lisa Unger
Adoption Story quotes by Lisa Unger
What amazes me most is that we, as a people, have shared our collective story of being thrown out of our homeland, Palestine, with each other and with many others- actually we have bored the world with this collective story- but somehow the individual Palestinian shies away, or perhaps is too afraid, to share the very personal story of being thrown out of her or his home, living room, or bedroom. These personal stories are seldom told, not even to our own children, perhaps not even to ourselves. I guess the wound remains open. ~ Suad Amiry
Adoption Story quotes by Suad Amiry
My grandmother used to tell us a story of a mountain of loadstone. When any vessels came near it, they were instantly deprived of their ironwork: the nails flew to the mountain, and the unhappy crew perished amidst the disjointed planks. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Adoption Story quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
In fact, I don't even know myself. That is the big secret of the story. That there is no story. ~ Karl Lagerfeld
Adoption Story quotes by Karl Lagerfeld
There are millions of reasons to allow pain and hurt and suffering rather than to eradicate them, but most of those reasons can be understood only within each person's story. ~ Wm. Paul Young
Adoption Story quotes by Wm. Paul Young
That was the thing neither Roja nor the senoras understood. Sometimes what a story needed was not a girl who would do what the prince told her, who would content herself with meeting him only in the dark, who would not question why she must not open her eyes. Sometimes a story needed the girl who would find him among the crumbling stones where he did pretending all o fit was a castle. It needed the girl who took the prince's orders and crushed them between her back teeth, who bound his wrists if that was what it took to set him free. ~ Anna-Marie McLemore
Adoption Story quotes by Anna-Marie McLemore
This is the difference between the fox and the hedgehog. Both creatures know that storytelling is everything, and that the only way modern people can understand history and politics is through the machinations of a story. But only the hedgehog knows that storytelling is secretly the problem, which is why the fox is constantly wrong. ~ Chuck Klosterman
Adoption Story quotes by Chuck Klosterman
In another curious and roundabout way, however, the Nazis gave a propaganda answer to the question of what their future role would be, and that was in their use of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" as a model for the future organization of the German masses for "world empire." The use of the Protocols was not restricted to the Nazis; hundreds of thousands of copies were sold in postwar Germany, and even their open adoption as a handbook of politics was not new. Nevertheless, this forgery was mainly used for the purpose of denouncing the Jews and arousing the mob to the dangers of Jewish domination. In terms of mere propaganda, the discovery of the Nazis was that the masses were not so frightened by Jewish world rule as they were interested in how it could be done, that the popularity of the Protocols was based on admiration and eagerness to learn rather than on hatred, and that it would be wise to stay as close as possible to certain of their outstanding formulas, as in the case of the famous slogan: "Right is what is good for the German people," which was copied from the Protocols' "Everything that benefits the Jewish people is morally right and sacred". ~ Hannah Arendt
Adoption Story quotes by Hannah Arendt
The story seemed to start such a long time ago. It didn't fit into my brain, even. It started when i figured out how things could get broken ( ... ) It started when knowing was sadder than all of the things themselfs. ~ Ava Dellaira
Adoption Story quotes by Ava Dellaira
There is a story scripted on the wall, no words used though, just her body expressions .. ~ Imran Shaikh
Adoption Story quotes by Imran Shaikh
My heart hurt when I remembered him, but the alternative was forgetting, and that was the final kind of death - when nobody told your story anymore. ~ Ann Aguirre
Adoption Story quotes by Ann Aguirre
By the close of the nineteenth century her studies with her father were being supplemented by tuition in the classics from Dr Warr of King's College, Kensington, and from Clara Pater, sister of the English essayist and
critic Walter Pater (1839–94). Woolf was very fond of Clara and an exchange between them later became the basis for her short story 'Moments of Being: Slater's Pins Have No Points' (1928). Thoby boarded at Clifton College,
Bristol, Adrian was a dayboy at Westminster School, and Vanessa attended Cope's School of Art. Thoby, and later Adrian, eventually went to Trinity College, Cambridge, and Vanessa undertook training in the visual arts (attending the Slade School of Fine Art for a while). From 1902 Virginia's tuition in classics passed from Clara Pater to the very capable Janet Case, one of the first graduates from Girton College, Cambridge, and a committed feminist. The sisters visited Cambridge a number of times to meet Thoby, whose friends there included Clive Bell 1881–1964), Lytton Strachey (1880– 1932), Leonard Woolf (1880–1969) and Saxon Sydney-Turner. ~ Jane Goldman
Adoption Story quotes by Jane Goldman
A story that is more interesting than any novel written by Nicolas Spark; a relationship that has more emotions than any movie made by Karan Johar; and a drama that is more exciting than any TV show...this what we have in our 15 years of marriage and 19 years of togetherness (?)... ~ Sandhya Jane
Adoption Story quotes by Sandhya Jane
The Bible is a love story. Time and time again it illustrates how much God loves the world in spite of its sinful disobedience...The last book of the Bible, the Revelation of St John the Divine, creates a beautiful and yet terrifying picture of those last days when God will reveal Himself in judgment and in grace to all creation. ~ Jerry Falwell
Adoption Story quotes by Jerry Falwell
Here's my formula: I usually start with a joke or story to catch the audience's attention; then I tell them what I am going to tell them, I tell them, and then I tell them what I just told them. ~ Ronald Reagan
Adoption Story quotes by Ronald Reagan
To me, the word 'hero' hasn't got positive or negative value - 'hero' is the person who leads you through the story. ~ Pierfrancesco Favino
Adoption Story quotes by Pierfrancesco Favino
You'll have to fall in love at least once in your life, or Paris has failed to rub off on you. ~ E.A. Bucchianeri
Adoption Story quotes by E.A. Bucchianeri
I tap my foot anxiously on the floor. Do I want to sit here and listen to more of his story? Or try to run? I feel like I'm in a maze where almost every end is a dead end or a trap and it's hard to figure out which path will get me to wherever I need to go. Also, my emotions are confusing, combine them with the electricity; I feel like I'm being pushed toward Alex and then pulled back. Pushed and pulled. Pretty soon I'm going to tear in half. ~ Jessica Sorensen
Adoption Story quotes by Jessica Sorensen
Uncoupling is a dramatic life event, whose importance is reflected in the eagerness of people to discuss their relationships even years later. Indeed, in attempting to put the story in chronological order, there was no one who was not visited again by sorrow and loss in the telling of it, regardless of the passage of time. ~ Diane Vaughan
Adoption Story quotes by Diane Vaughan
Art is the provocation for talking about enigma and the search for sense in human life. One can do that by telling a story or writing about a fresco by Giotto or studying how a snail climbs up a wall. ~ John Berger
Adoption Story quotes by John Berger
You see, Hansel and Gretel don't just show up at the end of this story.
They show up.
And then they get their heads cut off.
Just thought you'd like to know. ~ Adam Gidwitz
Adoption Story quotes by Adam Gidwitz
I actually had a small kangaroo - and I'm not kidding this time. I was holding a small kangaroo, baby kangaroo ... it was very nice to me this time. Do you know what it did afterward? I gave it some milk, and it just spit it all over me. I was like, Is this a thank-you for just being nice and petting the kangaroo? I got milk all over myself. I guess I deserved that from the story last year. ~ Caroline Wozniacki
Adoption Story quotes by Caroline Wozniacki
Nobody is going to say to you that if you waste enough time in the end of this wholes story time is going to waste you. ~ Deyth Banger
Adoption Story quotes by Deyth Banger
I never do pictures that I've done before - but I really try not to. Whenever I get an assignment I try to think how to shoot this person for this story in this magazine at this point in time. ~ Gregory Heisler
Adoption Story quotes by Gregory Heisler
The history of my life must begin by the earliest circumstance which my memory can evoke; it will therefore commence when I had attained the age of eight years and four months. ~ Giacomo Casanova
Adoption Story quotes by Giacomo Casanova
9:37, the west wall of the Pentagon was hit by hijacked American Airlines Flight 77, a Boeing 757. The crash caused immediate and catastrophic damage. All 64 people aboard the airliner were killed,as were 125 people inside the Pentagon (70 civilians and 55 military service members). One hundred six people were seriously injured and transported to area hospitals.192 While no emergency response is flawless, the response to the 9/11 terror= ist attack on the Pentagon was mainly a success for three reasons:first, the strong professional relationships and trust established among emergency responders; second, the adoption of the Incident Command System; and third, the pursuit of a regional approach to response. Many fire and police agencies that responded had extensive ~ Anonymous

He wanted to meet her for the first time, over and over...He told himself the story that this was the great tragedy of his heart. The great tragedy of his heart was that it always needed to be told a story. ~ Zadie Smith
Adoption Story quotes by Zadie Smith
In Woolrich's crime fiction there is a gradual development from pulp to noir. The earlier a story, the more likely it stresses pulp elements: one-dimensional macho protagonists, preposterous methods of murder, hordes of cardboard gangsters, dialogue full of whiny insults, blistering fast action. But even in some of his earliest crime stories one finds aspects of noir, and over time the stream works itself pure.

In mature Woolrich the world is an incomprehensible place where beams happen to fall, and are predestined to fall, and are toppled over by malevolent powers; a world ruled by chance, fate and God the malign thug. But the everyday life he portrays is just as terrifying and treacherous. The dominant economic reality is the Depression, which for Woolrich usually means a frightened little guy in a rundown apartment with a hungry wife and children, no money, no job, and desperation eating him like a cancer. The dominant political reality is a police force made up of a few decent cops and a horde of sociopaths licensed to torture and kill, whose outrages are casually accepted by all concerned, not least by the victims. The prevailing emotional states are loneliness and fear. Events take place in darkness, menace breathes out of every corner of the night, the bleak cityscape comes alive on the page and in our hearts.

("Introduction") ~ Francis M. Nevins Jr.
Adoption Story quotes by Francis M. Nevins Jr.
You don't have to live with whatever life throws you--or whatever you've gotten yourself into...
You can choose to Change Your Story! ~ Kirstin Leigh
Adoption Story quotes by Kirstin Leigh
He was talking. I tried not to think of how he looked and instead of what he was telling me. Once I accomplished that, my brain couldn't get past the 'running' part.
"I don't run." I walked the mile run at school. True story.
I abhorred any kind of physical exercise. I wasn't good at it. I was skinny, but I was soft; had absolutely no muscle mass at all. That's the way I liked it. Who was he to try to change that, change me? I wouldn't let him. No way, no how.
One half of his mouth lifted. He seemed to be enjoying this a little too much. "You do now. You have to be fit, you have to be strong, Taryn, if you're to stand any chance of surviving this. Come on, we'll start with stretching."
He forced me to twist my body into unimaginable positions. I even had to touch my toes. The agony. Luke took pleasure from my pain; even laughing as I moaned and groaned through it all.
Then, the worst came about. He. Made. Me. Run. ~ Lindy Zart
Adoption Story quotes by Lindy Zart
