I gently pressed my lips to hers, trying with everything I had in me to convey what I was feeling through that kiss. It was so slow and natural. A kiss that expressed every word I'd just spoken and so much more I still wanted to say. And it was the kiss that confirmed what I'd already known. She tossed me a mischievous smile and I couldn't help but feel relief that my fiery girl had returned.

Her soft giggle told me she, too, noticed my struggle. After a deep breath I lifted my head and took her face in my hands.
"I just don't wanna rush this, baby, because being with you makes me happy."

Her smile softened as she tilted her head to the side and kissed my cheek. "You, Keeton Pearce, are a very sweet man. And you make me happy, too.

It changed the man I thought I was and made me realize that loving someone with your entire heart didn't ensure they would always be with you. There was no way to predict your fate.

He didn't smile. There was absolutely no humor in his words.

"Weren't you the one that said you wanted five kids?" I asked.

"I changed my mind. After this one, we're done. I want Trinity back."

Again, complete seriousness. Poor guy looked lost. And it was the best damn thing to witness. Within four months of having Liam, Trinity was pregnant again. And this time she was cranky as hell. Everyone noticed it, but she directed all that aggravation toward the man she said was to blame. And the rest of us loved to witness his hell.
